Macarthur vs Western United

Western United are second on the ladder, only the goal difference separating them from the top spot.
On Saturday they beat reigning A-League champions Melbourne City, 1-0.

They welcome Tomoki Imai back into the squad after the Japanese defender was suspended for the City match.

Alessandro Diamanti is back in the line-up and regaining full fitness, Steven Lustica is producing some of the best football of his career and having conceded just six goals in eight matches, United should not lose this one.

Macarthur have not played for 37 days, so some rust is to be expected.
Given how teams in similar situation have performed at the re-start, I think Macarthur will have a hard time against Western Utd.

WS Wanderers vs Perth Glory

It**8217;s been an eventful few days in Western Sydney, with Carl Robinson sacked after Saturday**8217;s loss in Brisbane (0-3) and replaced by Mark Rudan on Monday morning.

Perth Glory squad have been hit by Covid, so there will be a number of key players out.
Despite the fact that his selection options will be severely impacted as a result, coach Garcia remains extremely upbeat about taking on the Wanderers.
Garcia confirmed that skipper Brandon O**8217;Neill, strikers Bruno Fornaroli and Daniel Sturridge, midfielder Mitch Oxborrow and defender Jack Clisby will all be unavailable, meaning Andy Keogh can expect a hard shift leading the line in what will be his 149th A-League appearance for the club.

Glory**8217;s recent record against the Wanderers is an impressive one, as they lost just one of the last ten meetings between the two clubs.

Perth are missing too many key players to be confident to back them.
The impact of the new coach at WS Wanderers may be visible, although he's had only a couple of days with the team.
The Wanderer's defence has been leaky this season, and while Perth Glory attack hasn't been as prolific like in the past years, they have had 10 days to prepare for this match, and I think they'll score.

Melbourne City had the weekend off after their clash with Perth was postponed, which will allow their big contingent of Socceroos players a few more days to freshen up, as they return from national team duty and injury, in what is a huge boost for them.

City**8217;s strike force is very good, however their defence is not at the same level.
Newcastle plays attacking football and that will allow them to really put the pressure on.
Following a tough loss against Western United in the previous round, Melbourne City will be desperate to return to winning ways.

CC Mariners vs Macarthur

The Mariners last league win came on December 18 against the Wanderers before almost a month off due to Covid postponements, and they have now dropped three straight in all competitions.
The Mariners have fallen inches short against some of the competition**8217;s top teams in Sydney FC, Melbourne Victory and Melbourne City, however this time round they will be looking to make amends at their home ground.
Mariners Head Coach Nick Montgomery said that his squad are going to bounce back after a first-ever cup final defeat last weekend.

Melbourne City vs Adelaide Utd

City played two away games last week, beating Newcastle Jets 4-2 on Tuesday and then Western Sydney Wanderers 3-1 on Friday night.

In both games, the City boys looked frighteningly good in attack as Jamie Maclaren, Andrew Nabbout, Mathew Leckie and Florin Berenguer created havoc in the opposition defences.

It's been all about attack for Adelaide as well this season, with the Reds recording the equal-third-most goals per game.

Both teams will be looking to maintain their position in the top 6.
This should make for a good game in Melbourne under lights.

It**8217;s ominous signs for anyone taking on Melbourne City at the moment as their ruthless form in front of goal was on display against Western Sydney.

They**8217;ve got the firepower to rattle any opponent and they should have too much class for the Reds.
Melbourne City have moved to second on the ladder and with Mathew Leckie scoring freely, their firepower may well make defeating them extremely unlikely in the near future.
Adelaide will have a serious crack, Craig Goodwin can always produce something from nothing like the magician he is.
