    Denmark-Sweden match regularity

I think some other topics("Get Real", and a part of "Euro2004Most PatheticTeam"), should be annexed to this (unique) topic, in order to avoid further discussion about this elsewhere.

This will be the topic to discuss Denmark-Sweden 2-2 regularity of the match.

I kindly ask the moderators to annex other discussion about the matter to this thread.

    c'est ne pas possible

    Thank you.

    I didn`t bet either on 2:2 or 0:0 .... I didn`t bet at all.

Hey , what is the odd for 2:2 with those odds for 1x2 :?: Chances about 15-20% :?:

What is the possibility for scoring the goal in that situation just before the end :?: 15-20 % ....maybe even less :?:

Just those two questions ..... and then you can say it`s coincidence , things happen , no one ever fixed a game and blah, blah, blah, blah

  to fair game .....  to honesty ..... the age of knights passed long time ago , everyone is looking their own good .

        no the game wasn't fixed...
        neither the Italy-Bulgary game.

But i want to give an examble on how a game can be fixed:

lets assume that it is the last day in Greece (ramdom choise) div2 or 3 or what ever.

TEAM1 wants the victory to avoid relegation and facing TEAM2 which is safe. But there must be a winner in the TEAM 3-TEAM 4 game.
TEAM 3 and TEAM 4 need one point each to avoid being relegated, in damage off TEAM 1.

TEAM 1 do not care about the other game, but do fix the game vs TEAM2.
how is that? the game will be draw until the last minute, in case that the other game ends with a winner. In most cases it starts 5 minutes later in the 2nd half, so the final result will be known before injury time. And then you can see even 2 goals in 2 minutes...

        Hmm... too familiar...
in case that you meet something like that sometime...
        i' ve seen the glory...

There should be a third choice here.
No it was not fixed but it was no fair game either.
Thats what I think about this game.
Its not always black or white. There are a lot of grey zones in the world.
            Consider the following situation.
You score 3 goals in 20 minutes and then you dont push that hard
so your opponent doesnt get humiliated any more.
Now I couldnt say this was a fair game, as the fair score should be
maybe 7-0 or 8-0. But you also cannot say that it was fixed, thats for sure.
It is the same here. The fair score should really be 2-1.
But that doesn't mean that it has to be fixed as it ended 2-2.
Maybe they were just unlucky or maybe they wanted to avoid the
germans and play with the czechs, who knows.
But more possibly they just couldnt resist to give a help to their swedish friends.
So again it was not a fair game for me, but I dont think it was fixed either.

I think Sorensen was the guy who helped Sweden - first with a lame and needless challenge on Larsson, then in the end by getting the ball away from his own defender and onto Jonsson's foot.

History has shown that if a team relaxes in a game that doesn't mean a lot to them but does to the other team, that team sooner or later gets slaughtered. It's all about honesty and sportsmanlike attitude. I remember Brasil losing to Norway to only get crushed most humiliatingly in the final. Another example is Nigeria crushed by Denmark after losing to Paraguay. On the contrary, champions play every game seriously. The opponent has to play hard to wrest the victory. Brasil beating Costa-Rica 5:2 in the game so important to the latter, or most recently Czech Republic beating Germany. I'm sure that after those games the losers learned something instructive, and the winners didn't have any regrets whatsoever.
Since someone mentioned the smiles on the faces of those coaches, it might be possible that the game had been fixed in progress. When they found out that Italy hadn't even gone ahead yet, they probably decided that Italy aren't worth it and simply decided to clinch the golden tie. We'll see the real truth in the nearest future.

Hi, guys, i'm from Italy, i think that Italy absolutely deserved to go home, since they play a bad, old football, with old Trapattoni's ideas and tactics and players that don't bother if they play for Italy....they only wanted to go to the beach..........BUT..............you cannot say the "nordic" match wasn't fixed....come on.....in today's football it is almost a normal thing to happen, but with 2-2 both of them were sure to go to next round....and.....oh.......it ended 2-2! 8O

The match was absolutely fixed and whoever tells the contary lies, knowing to tell a lie.

I believe it was a fair game for the majority of the match. Perhaps Sweden were given a bit of neighbourly "assistance" to score their late equaliser but Italy have absolutely nothing to complain about. Denmark and Sweden were the best teams in the group. Both of them made easy work of the Bulgarians whilst Italy struggled even against them. As it was both Sweden and Denmark endep up with a better for and against goal difference than Italy and as I understand it even a 1:1 score would have taken both sides through in the end because of Italy winning by only 1 goal against Bulgaria. I might have felt a bit more sympathy towards the Italians if they had won more convincingly against Bulgaria. But they did not...so its time to fly home. The only thing they might have had a chance of winning at Portugal was the SPITTING COMPETITION (I still cant believe that Totti only got a 3 match suspension...in most other sports around the world he wouldn't be allowed to play for at least 12 months! for doing something like that...dirty bastard! I'd rather get punched in the face than that! it seems to me that Europeans are very understanding towards this kind of behaviour.

For anybody else feeling sorry for Italy....Please, its not like they have never manufactured results before.

By the way I'm not scandinavian and I'm not talking through my wallet.
My money is on France, Holland and the Czechs.

This was fixed OK, how come nobody ever asked how come Spaniards played without Morientes and Valeron against Portugese.....was it a gift for hosts to advance? How come M.Balack 80% of the time was closer to O.Kahn then Chehs goalkeeper.....? Together with senile old Croatian coatch O.Baric threw them all down the drain....
BTW O.Baric does not care, he found new job allready in Kuweit

Or, I might say: whether you can call this match fixed or not, that depends on the definition of 'fixed game'. Anyway, it was not a fair game.

Italy , Denmark and Sweden all started with 0 games / 0 points. They had 3 games to fight for qualification. That wasn't fixed. Italy was the only one winning just by a goal against Bulgaria. What are they complaining about?
                              They payed their mistakes.
Have you heard or read somewhere an italian complaint about Swe-Den fixed match?
