    Two games tonight.

Slavia vs Beroe - Both teams to score - 2.05 @ local bookie (efbet)
Pirin vs Cherno More - Cherno More - 2.20 @ local bookie (efbet)

Slavia vs Beroe: It seems this is gonna be another year marked with inconsistency and different results for Slavia. Nothing new. The team already has one of each (a surprising 1-1 draw vs CSKA in opening day, 2-3 home loss to Botev Plovdiv and first victory last week - 0:2 vs Septemvri Sofia). Now "The Whites" from Sofia will host to Beroe who are heading to Sofia with three draws out of three games.
We have a side that seeks first win at its own stadium, since they're back playing on it, against a club that looks for the first win at all. IMO Beroe will be more effective against teams who have arguments to chase the win against them, unless to previous three rounds where Beroe were favourites twice but slipped at home - 0:0 and 1:1, respectively vs Vereya and Pirin. In the meantime Beroe had another (1:1) draw in a visit to Dunav Ruse 10 days ago.

Pirin vs Cherno More: Hosts from Blagoevgrad lost their first home game and that happened against Septemvri Sofia. However, Pirin did well and won 4 points out of 6 possible in its previous visits which happened against Botev (0:1) and Beroe (1:1). Meaning that Pirin will look for the first home victory this season and this happens against current leaders, who made a pretty decent selection for our (Bulgarian) championship. Like I stated in that pre-season analysis, I believe that Cherno More looks as the team with highest chance to find place in top 4 besides the usual suspects - Ludogorets, Levski, CSKA.
Moreover, Georgi Ivanov (Cherno More's coach) has central defender Aleksandar Aleksandrov back in the squad, although it's not sure will he start alongside Ilias Hassani, who did a fine individual rate and scored the winning goal vs Dunav Ruse last round. Otherwise, if Aleksandrov remains on bench, Aleksandar Tsvetkov will most likely start in defense which isn't his most favourable position and this seems to be the Achilles' heel of Cherno More. Tsvetkov is really great in midfield and I sincerely hope Aleksandrov is ready to start tonight, so Tsvetkov can be moved in midfield. Main question is who will be ruled out of the squad if Tsvetkov starts as a defensive midfielder? Orlin Starokin (DM) or Georgi Bozhilov (AM) ? Starokin will be extremely useful for that game, while I highly doubt "Gonzo" will leave veteran Georgi Iliev (club's legend and captain) out of the squad.
For some reason I have a feeling that Cherno More will reach another narrow success tonight and will level the same performance from couple of years ago when "The SAilors" began their season with four consecutive wins.

    Possible starting lineups:
Pirin Blagoevgrad: Blagoy Makendzhiev - Yulian Popev, Stiliyan Nikolov, Rumen Sandev, Aleksandar Bashliev - Todor Palankov, Todor Trayanov - Daniel Mladenov, Kostadin Nichev, Dimitar Blagov - Stanislav Kostov. (4-2-3-1)

Missing players - Aymen Souda and Anton Kostadinov (both suspended).

Cherno More: Emil Mihaylov - Martin Kostadinov, Ilias Hassani, Aleksandar Tsvetkov, Ondrej Sukup - Orlin Starokin, Georgi Iliev - Maryan Ognyanov, Georgi Bozhilov, Atanas Zehirov - Tsvetelin Chunchukov. (4-2-3-1)

Missing players - Vitinha (new signing, injured).

After a small break (except a postponed match facing Levski vs Ludogorets) for international football, round 8 starts today!

Bulgarian First League, Round 8: Beroe vs Cherno More - 17:30 local time

Two sides who have lost their last fixtures by a three-goal margin will face on Friday night when Beroe takes on Cherno More at ***8220;Stadion Beroe***8221; in Stara Zagora. Their clash will open round 8 in the Bulgarian First Professional Football League where hosts Beroe are on 7th position with 10 points and visitors from Varna are fourth ***8211; with four points more.
Cherno More heads to Stara Zagora with three consecutive wins over its opposition ***8211; all of them were won by 1:0. Moreover, Beroe failed to score in Cherno More***8217;s net since a 3:0 victory (in Varna) from November 2015, which has been followed by five clean sheets of ***8220;The Sailors***8221;. Well, one of them was not that pleasing as Beroe eliminated Cherno More out of the 2015-16 Bulgarian Cup on penalties, after a goalless draw in 120 minutes of play.
A win in Stara Zagora will move Cherno More on top of the table at least for a few hours. Another good reason why Georgi Ivanov***8217;s side should do their best to bounce back after a devastating 1:4 home defeat by Septemvri Sofia right prior break for international football.
On the other hand Beroe seeks first home success for the 2017-18 season after three draws and one defeat in Stara Zagora. Unquestionably the worst performance of all home games was last round***8217;s 0:3 defeat vs CSKA, so Aleksandar Tomash***8217;s men are eager to start earning at home. In fact only three of their 10 points were won at home soil, while seven were won on the road where The Greens are yet to lose a game: 1:1 vs Dunav in Ruse, followed by two wins over Slavia Sofia (1:4) and Septemvri Sofia (0:1).

      Key players in both squads:
Beroe - Matheus Leoni, Carlos Ohene, Martin Raynov and Martin Kamburov (veteran striker who just joined Beroe and is looking for his first goal with the white-green shirt).
Cherno More - Aleksandar Tsvetkov, Mariyan Ognyanov and captain Georgi Iliev.

Possible Lineups of Beroe and Cherno More

Beroe: Dusan Pernis ***8211; Milen Zhelev, Pavel Vidanov, Ivan Ivanov, Matheus Leoni ***8211; Martin Raynov, Carlos Ohene ***8211; Pedro Eugenio, Borislav Tsonev, Dragos Firtulescu ***8211; Martin Kamburov. (4-2-3-1)

New signing - Ivan Ivanov, Carlos Ohene returns after injury.

Cherno More: Evgen Borovyk ***8211; Ondrej Sukup, Aleksandar Aleksandrov, Stefan Stanchev, Martin Kostadinov ***8211; Georgi Iliev, Orlin Starokin ***8211; Atanas Zehirov, Aleksandar Tsvetkov, Mariyan Ognyanov ***8211; Marek Kuzma. (4-2-3-1)

Missing players - Ilias Hassani (key defender) is suspended, Vitinha is injured.
New players - Evgen Borovyk and Iliya Milanov.

In period 2000-2017 we have 33 competitive games between Beroe Stara Zagora and Cherno More Varna. Seventeen (17) of them were in Stara Zagora where Beroe have not won (in regular time) for more than four years ***8211; since the 1:0 back in April 2013.

More details about the game and squads for all interested: Beroe vs Cherno More

Pick: Both teams to score - Yes
      Odds: 2.00 @ 10Bet
      Stake: (5/10)

      Good luck!

Tomorrow there is derby of Plovdiv (Botev vs Lokomotiv) but bad news are that it has to be played on "closed doors" - no spectators. I think Botev are the team in better form right now and I will take the "home win", but this bet is pretty much related with name of Todor Nedelev - whether he'll be ready to play or not. Otherwise I might skip betting on this match.

          Guys,what about match
          Vitosha Bistritsa - Botev Plovdiv 3.55 / 3.95 / 1.96
Isn't odds on Botev to high?
If I am not mistaken, Vitosha coach is suspended for this match and Botev have more quality then odds shows.

Offc. Botev win is what everyone expects so..Bistritsa is the weakest team in the group so they are outsiders in each game. Offcourse sometimes they will steal some points.
Botev should be able to win but we are never surprised when our team misses to get wins on the road. I prefer live betting on this one. Botev is quite inconsistent team with no big player variation. Usually the first minutes can show wich Botev we will see today. We have full squad so a win is expected.

So yesterday, Friday, in Bulgarian First League was far from productive... we had two games without a single goal scored - both have ended 0:0. Today expectations are for some more interesting games and the icing on the cake - Levski vs CSKA, which is the biggest game in Bulgarian football. Later on Lokomotiv Plovdiv takes on my team - Cherno More. Here are my thoughts on both games today and tonight:

15:00 CET - Levski Sofia vs CSKA Sofia

Both sides are eager to end a successful streak of Ludogorets Razgrad who have won the league for six consecutive years, preceded by two more from Litex Lovech. This makes a period of 8 years when the league trophy is not in a team from Sofia and I don't think that ever happened in Bulgarian football history.
Currently, after 12 games, Levski (The Blues) are 3rd with 24 points and their eternal opponents (game is known as the "Eternal Derby" of Bulgarian football, although CSKA was created in 1948 by the communistic regime, but that's another thread) have 3 more - 27. Meanwhile, Ludogorets sits on top of the table with 30 points and I will be highly surprised if someone stops them for another season. They clearly play the best football here, but who knows... anything can happen.
So that's what adds some extra motivation in that game and huge crowd (30 000+ spectators) are expected on the stadium today. Weather is perfect - like a summer day.
Levski won just once in the last 9 derbies and lost the last two of them with 0:3, in both occasions. Now, that's the first clash in the new season and experienced Italian coach Delio Rossi took Levski's helm. He stabilezed their defense and they have shown improvement at the back where David Jablonsky (team's top scorer with 5 goals) and Holmar Örn Eyjolfsson are really solid. The Icelandic defender hopes to revive his career in Levski and to find place in Iceland's World Cup selection, which is another good reason why I believe Levski will look really stable at the back, especially under management of an Italian coach who works on their tactical discipline.
CSKA were leaders for some time and had 9 wins in a row, before failing to win against Etar in Veliko Tarnovo (2:2), followed by another disappointing 0:0 draw last round - vs Pirin at home. However, they are still considered for favourites in the derby but we've seen many games where the favourites are losing, or at least not winning the derbies.
Good news for Levski are that Gabriel Obertan is fit and will make it to the starting lineup. Biggest question is who will start up front - Romanian striker Sergiu Bus, who is a former CSKA player, or Mapuku, who is pretty inconsistent but usually dedicated in these type of games.
CSKA have all key players available and all eyes are looking at top scorer Fernando Karanga (12 goals in 12 rounds).

                Possible squads:

Levski: Mitrev - Cvetkovic, Jablonsky, Eyjolfsson, Goranov - Jordi Gomez, Panayotov - Antonio Vutov, Obertan, Prochazka - Sergiu Bus or Junior Mapuku. (4-2-3-1)

CSKA: Cerniauskas - Dyulgerov, Barthe, Bodurov, Nedyalkov - Malinov, Rúben Pinto - Manolev, Tiago Rodrigues, Kevin Mercado - Fernando Karanga. (4-2-3-1)

In my opinion Levski's defensive approach may cause some trouble for "The Reds" and if they don't concece an early goal, as it happened in the last few games, The Blues will take something from the derby. We've seen many occasion where the team with better defense finds a way to outwit the team with better attack.

Pick: Levski - Asian Handicap 0
                Odds: 2.25 @ Bet365
                Stake: (5/10)

19:15 CET: Lokomotiv Plovdiv vs Cherno More

Lokomotiv Plovdiv are generally extremely successful against Cherno More in Plovdiv, with a few exceptions in the past few seasons. This usually points to a home win but since both teams have some injury concerns I would bet on Both teams to score. Why? Lokomotiv were in crisis before winning twice against Septemvri Sofia and Beroe (in Stara Zagora). And if the first game was expected, then the second one was a surprise for me. However, Lokomotiv is without injured Dimo Bakalov who is one of their most important players this year. Anyway, Dino Martinovic, who scored the winner vs Beroe after coming as a substitution can be one of the possible replacements in the starting squad.
Cherno More failed to score in its last five league games. "The Sailors" are in a deep crisis and lost six of their last seven games on both domestic competitions. The only source of a point came in a goalless home draw vs newly promoted Etar, which is a disappointment as well... Georgi Ivanov resigned as a coach despite the great beginning of the season and has been replaced by former assistant Emanuil Lukanov, who doesn't have any serious experience. However, he knows situation in the team well as he is in the club from 2010, being an assistant of various coaches.
Cherno More travels to Plovdiv without injured goalkeeper Yevhen Borovyk, wing-back Martin Kostadinov, left-back Vitinha, attacking midfielder Georgi Bozhilov and striker Tsvetelin Chunchukov. Absentees of Borovyk and Kostadinov are blows for sure, since our first-team goalkeeper Emil Mihaylov is an absolute clown... he makes some saves sometimes, but he makes some ridiculous mistakes in almost every game. Kostadinov is also a very talented player, while Bozhilov and Chunchukov are two attackers, whose absence can be more helpful, to be honest... Bozhilov slows the game while Chunchukov is the type of striker who only run but can't score at all.
So we can have some goals here. It's true - Cherno More have scored just once in the six games (vs a second division club in the Bulgarian Cup, losing 1-2 though) but that negative streak has to be ended and a pretty inconsistent club like Lokomotiv Plovdiv can be the "victim".
Moreover, both teams are not in top-six but they have certain aspirations to make it in the top half.

Pick: Both teams to score - Yes
                Odds: 1.90 @ local bookie
                Units: (6/10)
