    Super Rugby
    Hurricanes vs Rebels

The Hurricanes finished bottom of the Super Rugby Aotearoa (New Zealand) standings with a record of 2 wins and 5 defeats, but their better rugby came later in the tournament. In this new Trans-Tasman tournament, in Sydney last Friday it was the Hurricanes who posted the biggest score of the weekend when they scored 64 in their first match of the Trans-Tasman competition, beating the Waratahs 64-48.

The Rebels hosted the Blues in Round 1 but they were never in the game and eventually went down 50-3.
The Hurricanes should score freely here.

    Bet 1: Hurricanes -24.0 @1.89
Bet 2: Team Total Points - Hurricanes Over 42.5 @1.86

      Western Force vs Highlanders

The Force have played some good games recently, as they qualified for the play-offs in the Australian competition, and last week they nearly beat the Chiefs at home (19-20) missing out on a last minute conversion that would have given them the win.

The Highlanders beat the Reds (Australian champions) 40-19, and now they welcome back Frizell, which is a big plus for the Highlanders.

      Bet 1: Highlanders -9.5 @1.84
Bet 2: Team Total Points Highlanders Over 30.5 @1.83
      Bet 2: Total Points Over 49.5 @1.91

        Bordeaux vs Montpellier

Montpellier are recent winners of Challenge Cup and are assured of European presence next season. They decided to rest their first team and field their youngsters, an unexperienced team.

Bordeaux are in the fight to qualify for the finals and they are fielding a strong team.

        Bet 1: Bordeaux -32.5 @1.80
Bet 2: Team Total Tries - Bordeaux over 6.5 @2.14
Bet 3: Team Total Points - Bordeaux over 46.5 @1.86

          English Premiership

          Gloucester vs London Irish

Gloucester are strong at home. Irish defence concedes plenty. Gloucester has nothing to lose, they are a team on the way up, whilst the Exiles have the look of a side that can**8217;t wait for the season**8217;s end to come quickly enough.

The Irish have lost their last four and are not normally the best of travellers. With Gloucester having a crowd in, even in limited numbers, their job just got a whole lot tougher.

After months of waiting in frustration, the home side faithful will no doubt be at their most raucous and Gloucester should give them plenty to shout about in what has the makings of a high-scoring game.

Recent games between the sides have gone over the total match points line of 54.5.

          Bet 1: Gloucester -7.5 @1.80
          Bet 2: Total Points Over 54.5 @1.85
          Bet 3: Total Tries Over 6.5 @1.61

            Rugby - English Premiership

            Sale Sharks vs Bristol

Bristol are at full strength. Having led the Premiership from round 6 onwards, they are not in the mood to be overtaken.
They are highly motivated, and so are Sale, who are now sitting on third with a realistic chance of climbing to second. Games between two quality teams like this often come down to the bounce of the ball or a refereeing decision.
The man in the middle is Ridley and in three quarters of the Premiership matches he has refereed this season he has given out at least one yellow card.

Sale have conceded an incredible 21 yellow cards this season.
Bristol, however, are the best opponents at exploiting the extra space on the field and score an average of seven points when they are numerically up a man.

The likelihood is that if Sale**8217;s disciplinary problems continue into this match, they will get badly punished.

            Bet 1: Total Points Under 53.5 @1.90
            Bet 2: Bristol -1.5 @1.92

              Waratahs vs Crusaders

Waratahs have been good with overs points in recent weeks.
They also showed that they know how to score a try against New Zealand opposition. The down side is this is the Crusaders who are a step up defensively on the other New Zealand teams.
It is a day game and with the handicap very much as expected I am going to follow the same strategy and back the Waratahs overs for the 3rd week running.

              Bet 1: Waratahs Over 14.5 points @1.92
Bet 2: Total Team Tries - Waratahs Over 1.5 tries @1.78

                Super Rugby

                Blues vs Brumbies

This handicap seems like a bit of an overreaction to the Blues beating up on the weakest Australian team. I think the Brumbies we saw hang with the Crusaders two weeks ago is a lot closer to the true Brumbies compared with what we saw last week against the Chiefs. Not to mention how inconsistent the Blues have been for a long time.
The Brumbies were poor last week against the Chiefs but ran the Crusaders to within 2 points the week before. The Blues have had 2 good wins but against lower Australian teams.

The Brumbies should bounce back and cover this alternative handicap.

                Bet: Brumbies +14.5 @1.72

                  Super Rugby

                  Hurricanes vs Reds

Hurricanes need a big win with bonus point.
The Reds play for nothing and they have a big absence: James O'Connor.

Bet 1: Hurricanes Team Total over 35.5 points @1.90
                  Bet 2: Hurricanes -13.5 @1.91

                    Super Rugby

                    Rebels vs Crusaders

After the big wins by the Hurricanes and Highlanders today, the Crusaders must win by a big score and bonus point for them to catch the second spot and play the final.
They were not impressive last week, but their big guns are back and they will know exactly what is required of them. They have to chase points and I think they can get whatever they need against this Rebels team, who are without a win and not even a losing bonus point.
This Crusaders team should put up a big score and while I will keep an eye on their points line (the bookies have not priced it yet), I'll take the half time and full time handicap.

                    Bet 1: HT Crusaders -14.5 @1.96
                    Bet 2: FT Crusaders -28.5 @1.82

                      Rebels vs Crusaders

The handicap has moved to +/- 39.5, however the Rebels are no strangers to big beatings, including by the Crusaders in their last two encounters, 55-10 and 66-0.
So even a -39.5 handicap is not out of the question, while the Rebels are without Toomua.

                      I took two more bets:

                      Bet 1: Crusaders over 54.5 points @1.83
                      Bet 2: Crusaders over 8.5 tries @2.24

                        Super Rugby

                        Waratahs vs Chiefs

These two teams have nothing to play for.
Although the Chiefs are the obviously better team, the Waratahs showed in every game they played that they can score tries.

Bet: Total Tries Over 8.5 @1.93

                          Super Rugby

                          Blues vs Western Force

The Blues just need to win to get to the final of the competition.
Force has nothing to play for.
The Force were gallant in a 29-21 defeat away to the Crusaders last week and they were also competitive in their first 2 matches of the tournament, albeit in defeats to the Chiefs and Highlanders, but in Round 3 they were thrashed 43-6 by the Canes in Wellington.

The Blues should beat the Force, who have punched above their weight, and I think the Blues will come out meaning business and looking to get the job done early.

                          Bet 1: Blues HT -10.5 @1.75
                          Bet 2: Total Points Over 52.5 @1.82

                            Super Rugby

                            Blues vs Highlanders

The line has been set at 44.5, while I was expecting something around 50-52 points and I'd have gone for unders.
Now at this low line I like the overs.
The matches between these two sides go frequently past the 45 points mark, and despite the fact that this is the final of the Super Rugby competition, conditions look good, the game is played in front of the home crowd, and I am hoping both sides take a few 3 pointers early and the game then opens up.

With the game being played at Eden Park (home of the Blues), and with a large crowd expected to be in attendance, the Blues will hold a slight edge and should claim the victory.

It is for the first time in 18 years that the Blues reach a Super Rugby final and coach Leon MacDonald admits Saturday's Trans Tasman decider against the Highlanders will be "special".
MacDonald took over the Blues at the end of 2018 and set about rebuilding the team's culture and structures.
He said it had come together during this edition of Super Rugby.

"We've been more consistent this time. Our defence has been strong, we've been smarter and had more discipline," he said.

                            Bet 1: Over 44.5 points @1.95
                            Bet 2: Blues -5.5 @1.81

                              Rugby - Currie Cup

                              Griquas vs Sharks

The Sharks have put out an impressive side despite missing their Boks and the Griquas probably won**8217;t be up to the speed and intensity of an 80 minute match.
Sharks to beat the handicap looks a solid bet.

                              Bet: Sharks -6.5 @1.82

                                Rugby - Currie Cup

                                Bulls v Pumas

The Bulls defence of the Currie Cup title started in unusual circumstances last week. The Bulls first teamers were not available for a home fixture against Western Province due to their involvement in the Rainbow Cup final in Italy, and hence the team they put out started the game as underdogs in the region of 30 points. The Bulls lost the game 48-24 so they did stay within that handicap line and they picked up a consolation bonus point for scoring 4 tries.

Now the Bulls big guns return for this match.

                                Their coach said: "This weekend is a big game for us, and we will be looking to get back to winning ways. The Pumas are coming off the back of a good win and they will be looking to hurt us, but we know what is expected of us.**8221;

I expect the returning players to make the difference and the Pumas may have one eye on next week's game against the Griquas.
The Pumas might be able to keep up with the Bulls for 40-50 minutes, but their bench is not as strong as the Bulls bench.

                                Bet: Bulls -13.5 @1.97
