Old Threads

I believe we should archieve old threads, i know this could use a few MB or GB, but hard drives these days aren't so expensive

Old threads could be used for references etc...

Btw, I also remember we had some discussion about 'Hall of Fame' regarding topics, but don't know was that idea accepted or not.

Actually, after a short search I found it now.... It's in 'Suggestions' forum. Micutu's 'Top Ten Topics' topic. And in the last post he even recommends one of my posts to be a future hall of famer.

No reason to keep all threads around since most of then discuss either specific matches or specific rounds, but I think the general topics and discussions are worth keeping around if there's space.

When the leagues start again, I need to do some "pruning" to shorten some subforums. The pruning happens automatically, as I can set this value in the admin section on this board.

As an example, I can set the pruning in the English soccer forum to 7 days, which means that threads with no responses in the last 7 days will be deleted.

I need to do this in the most popular forums, because there will be too many topics out of date otherwise.

ok, i just thought more posts would attract more members, i mean if you see the main page of the forum, example general chat 3000 posts..

It would make the forum look more active.

Not like that Isaac.. I was thinking about putting them in an archive were we can find them through search or something....
And i suggest that you should keep some posts until they are two weeks old... and then move them to the archive... :wink:
