Isn't it essential in asian betting to be able to estimate a teams chance for a given hcap, otherwise you are simply guessing.

If you have a game at 1.7,3.1,4.5 & you accept that those odds are representative of the teams chances, then the odds for the draw & the away win implies respective probabilites of around 28% & 18% after allowing for the overround.

If the away team's quoted at +0.5 therefore you are looking at fair odds of around 2.17(a true 46% chance) for that quote.

Well, normal cases it should be easy to build a so called 'conversion table' but I doubt it'll be any use, since the handicap always chance without notice as you might have experienced in the World Cup.... But it's a good suggestion though.

There is a formula for the asian handicap calculation, under the circumstances it's not calculated from these odds. I'll have to do some digging to find the so called formula, will post my research here when I have it.

Asian handicap can change without notice, e.g. Argentina 1.90 (-1/4) vs England 1.90 (+1/4). If bets coming in are going one sided, the odds will start to drop. If it goes any further the handicap might change, which is quite common for some bookmakers. e.g. Argentina receiving too much bets, the handicap can go up to -1/2

Some bookmakers offer different handicap at the initial stage, and I don't think they have a common formula to calculate the handicap. Usually it's up to them to offer the handicap, as they see fit. That's why I myself don't even bother to look up the formula, experience will roughly give you an idea of the handicap about to offer.

    Hi again, need more help...

If a bookie have these odds 1.70 (h) 3.35 (d) 4.60 (a) on a match without any handicaps, does he calculate the asian handicap odds on the basis of these "handicap free" odds?

I'm not sure if I you've allready answerded this question, so bear with me..

If the bookies use a formula to calculate the asian handicap odds, based on the "handicap free" book, do you know this formula?

    Thanks again,

    stue

well, I'm assuming you're referring to 1.7 (home win) 3.1 (draw) 4.5 (away win) in this case. Normally asian handicaps are not calculated from these odds, but you can refer to these odds. In this case the asian handicap would be something like -1/4 handicap, whereby in a draw the home team lose 1/2 the stake and vise versa. For 0:0 odds normally it'll look something like this: 2.0 - 2.9 - 2.2

Hope I have answer your question, cheers..
