This should be an easy round - all fixtures but Tromso - Away wins or DNB. More in depth analysis for Fredrikstad and Valerenga probably to come.

Agree...Choosing a 1x2 so far in this league was a coin toss.

Molde Vs Fredrikstad
Match Preview: Molde won 3-0 to Lillestrom but in Norway this means practically nothing. The team has attack - yes we know that. The team has excellent midfielders - we know that too. But the defense is still questionable at least. One cannot expect consistency from such a new team.
Fredrikstad are not by chance in the upper part of the table. Midfield and Defense are not that sparkling with quality, but still remain solid. Attack is not far behind Molde's, so someone has got the odds wrong here. Tarik and Borges should be able to score here easily.
Tip: Fredrikstad +0.25 - stake 7/10

H2H stats look encouraging but of concern has to be how Rosenborg failed to score at home to Haugesund. Maybe someone who watched the game can enlighten us? Looking at the score line I can only guess it was an 'all men behind the ball try and nick a goal and defend for your lives' job. Or are Rosenborg just really bad this season?

no it wasnt like that.Haugesund was better team on the field and dominated the encounter, as they created ,before the goal, best chances and they deserved this win.Rosenborg made a poor game, they simply had a day off.

For Start - Rosenborg

H2H stats also encourage HT/FT 2/1 and 1/2

Just a feeling that Stromsgodset Brann will be also a turnaround with Brann taking the lead...

Sogndal-Lillestrøm

Both teams play on natural grass @home so no disadvantage for away team.

Sogndal won their first match of the season against Stabaek 1-0. A little fortunate maybe cause Stabaek burned a lot of chances. If we look at the table Sogndal is ofcourse last, but they only let in 8 goals so far and that is third best in Tippeligaen. At home they lost to Odd Grenland 1-4 and played 0-0 against Tromsø and Viking.

Sogndal is rather weak all over but the offensive part of the game is terrible so far, only 3 goals scored and not many more scoring opportunities. For this game Barry Kader (mid) is suspended.

Ok, what about Lillestrøm? They played Molde on 16th of may in their 1000th Tippeliga-game and they lost 3-0. A huge dissapointment for the team and the fans. If they want to make sure not to slip too far behind the top teams they need revenge and 3 points against Sogndal. LSK haven't lost an away game yet with 1-3-0 13-6 so far.

LSK played a good game against Molde, the first 30 min LSK were far better and controlled the game but Molde scored before HT and then it was over. But with all their offensive power Sogndal will have a hard time defending. I think Lillestrøm is stronger in attack then Viking and Tromsø and will atleast manage to find the net today.

Ujah, the leading topscorer with 8 goals has Sigurdarson next to him (leading assist with 5), behind them is strong midfielder Nosa (5 goals, 1 ass) and speedy winger Knutzon (2g/3a). These 4 are quality and Lillestrøm only need some magic from one of them to bring home all the points.

So, Lillestrøm will be looking for revenge and I reckon they will take it. Sogndal are too weak to ride on any success from last game and they'll have a hard time getting two results in a row this season. LSK pays 2.25 and that's good enough for me!

Lillestrøm 2.25 @ bet365. 9/10.

Rosenborg really lacked any creativity and from what I remember barely created a chance till stoppage time. With Jamtfall and Holm now also missing I wouldn't bet on them scoring too many at the moment.

Lillestrøm 2.25 @ bet365. 9/10.
I was at this game, I wouldn't say that LSK were ever the better team but until the 3rd went in the match was pretty close in terms of possession, the big difference being Molde created far more chances.

They've adjusted their line up slightly, with Hoseth playing deeper in place of Erikem to fit Chukwu into the strikers role with Thiome, Diouf and Anglan all playing off him and it worked well on Monday, there might be value in their match being a high scoring one as both them and Fredrikstad have much stronger forward players than defenders.

Sogndal have been solid at the back, and they do carry a little more goal threat now Bakke is fit again, though thy will miss the suspended Kader.

If Lillestrom can score early they could run up a big score, but if Sogndal manage to sneak one (most likely from a set piece) then their more than capable of shutting the match down.

LSK scored just before HT to make it 1-1 but the goal was diss.

so DNB for Lillestroem should be worth to try ? The highest I could find was 1.70 (IW)

maybe off topic, but there are a lot of new guys posting here, sometimes with zero value and offending others, cheering because they won some picks in a row or cursing at guys for a pick that did not work out
Is it naive from me to say that we are here to help each other ? At least that is what my purpose is. Betting is no science so you should not be held responsible for a wrong pick after giving advice
stay positive !

Sparta is on the fire right now (3-0-0 6:0 at home) and 2.25 at my local is another gift

Stabaek also on 2.95 seems like gift from bookies 'cos Odd is nothing special this year

Thursday 19.05.2011 Tromsø - Viking:

This game will be played on artificial grass. Viking are using natural grass at their home stadium.

Tromsø are in top of the league, even though they only got a draw at home against Sarpsborg 08 (2-2). Very solid home stats so far, 3-1-0, with goal score 8-3.
Star midfielder Kara (Mid) is back from suspension.
No major injury problems.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Vikings season so far has been a disaster, for a team with title challenger ambitions. At the moment they are holding a relegation spot, the supporters are about to turn their back on the club, and former Norway International team coach Åge Hareide doesnt seem to have that extra spark anymore.
Viking are 1-1-1 on the road so far, with goal score 1-4.
Tomasz Sokolowski (Mid), Tommy Knarvik (Mid), King Osei Gyan (Mid) and Patrik Ingelsten (Att) are injured.
Captain, and star attacker Erik Nevland, didnt participate in Vikings training session yesterday, due to minor injury problems, but he will most likely start this game.

Tromsø - Viking ended 1-0 in 2010.

Two teams heading in different directions this season. Tromsø have showed clear signs that they really are a solid title challenger this seaon, while Viking are having big troubles lately, and they will have to turn things around, on and off the pitch, to get out of the relegation battle.
Tromsø have a full squad for this game, while Viking are missing a couple of players with injuries, and Nevland is doubtful. Tromsø are usually very strong at home, and should win against struggling Viking. Money back if Tromsø win by one goal.

Tromsø -1, 9/10 stakes, odds 2.37@Bet365. Good luck!

I watched first half and imo LSK were better atleast the first 20 mins. Maybe Molde let them control the game at the start so they could counter but LSK seemed more comfortable at the start. If they can maintain that and keep possesion today, then 3 points against Sogndal will be a piece of cake.

My view may be affected by being behind the goals that Molde were shooting towards, but I felt that the until the goal the play was pretty even but that other than one effort from Sigurdarsen Molde had created all the chances.

I do think they'll win tonight though.

I think you are spot on here too.
Molde is a counter-attacking team. They defend in numbers, and hit on the break with speedy forwards lurking on the wings waiting for the elusive ball.
Worked well vs Lillestrom last time around, and also worked vs Brann a few weeks ago (3-1 win). Molde did play well against Lillestrom though, but were more or less lucky against Brann.

At home is another story, though. Molde does not seem to be able to control play very well, and at home the onus is on them to create something. Things often become a bit stale.
Fredrikstad is a good team, who can hit on the break, and got good players.
Odds on FFK to get something at Molde is very good imho.

I think it is dangerous to bet on Tromsø -1 here. Reason being that Viking, with all their injuries, will be more than pleased with a draw here, and I can see this game being UNDER 2.5 quite probably.

0-0, 1-0, maybe 1-1 is not far off.

Tromsø have over-acheived a bit so far, I think. They are solid at home, yes, but rarely set the worlld alight, and play perhaps a bit dull type of football. Viking are also dull, infact very dull, for the time being, and therefore my pocket change will be on a low-scoring draw.

Stromsgodset-Brann

Tough game to predict, and betting wise it is probably wise to avoid this one.
Stromsgodset play on artifical grass, and this will be Brann's first game on artifical grass this year (in the league).
Brann got a good grip on Godset away, 11-3-7, which is slightly surprising to me, as Godset is known to be a home-team.

Abu suspended for Godset, Brann got no absences.

3-1-0 at home for Godset, 2-1-0 away for Brann, and this game has X all over it from my point of view.

Brann dominated vs Start, but needed a late penalty to win it, very deserved.
Kim Ojo a revelation this season, bought from Nybergsund in the 1.div, and has really impressed with his work rate and eye for goal. Destined for bigger things if he can keep this up.
Brann work hard, no overpaid "stars" in the team, and it gives results.
Sensible coach, makes good judgements on games, and makes good use of his subs. Tactically sound.

Stromsgodset got a young squad, average age is way down in the twenties, and they will be a force in coming years. But 2 games without a win now, 1-1 vs Tromsø at home was followed by the 2-1 loss in Ålesund, having been 1-0 up.
Outplayed and outsmarted in that game though, after good substitutions by Ålesund coach Kjetil Rekdal.

This game can really be anything from 2-0, 2-1, 1-1, 1-2, 0-1, 2-2, 0-2, but I think a draw is quite close.

Thursday 19.05.2011 Haugesund - Vålerenga:

Both teams use natural grass at their home stadiums.

Haugesund won away against Rosenborg (1-0) in their latest game, and it was not a lucky result. Haugesund played solid most of that game, and its strange to see them with only 7 points in 7 games.
Haugesund were 9-5-1 at home in 2010, while they are only 1-1-1 so far in 2011.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Vålerenga disappointed again, away against Fredrikstad (3-1) in their latest game.
They play with a very different attitude and lower self-esteem in their gameplay, since last season. 7 points in 7 games are far away from the season ambitions for Vålerenga. 0-1-4 in their latest 5 games.
1-0-3 on the road so far, with goal score 3-6.
Captain Kristofer Hæstad (Mid), key attacker Luton Shelton and Morten Berre (Att) are injured.
Yssouf Kone (Att) is still not fit to play, and hes not in todays squad.

Haugesund - Vålerenga ended 2-0 in 2010.

Haugesund shocked away against Rosenborg (1-0) in their latest game, and Vålerenga disappointed (1-3) away against Fredrikstad.
Vålerenga will miss Hæstad and Shelton for this game, and with Haugesunds strong home stats from 2010 in mind, Vålerenga coach Martin Andresen will most likely change Vålerengas tactics for this game.
Haugesund are usually a strong home team, and Vålerenga will have a very tough task here.

Haugesund, 9/10 stakes, odds 2.55@Ladbrokes. Good luck!

MightyE happens to Valerenga? I remember that I had put her as the winner of the championship this year, and is instead playing badly.

Haugesund Valerenga - very tough choice here.

Injured & Doubtful for Haugesund
Jarle Steinsland Are Tronseth Juska Savolainen Joakim Våge Nilsen Eirik Mæland
Doubtful: Trygve Nygaard, Chris Pozniak Ole Kristian Kråkmo

Haugesund clearly outplayed Rosenborg - no comments on this.
But ViF were unlucky in their game against FFK. Created enough chances to level the match, but grave sitters cost them the points. I feel that at some point this team should start scoring and eventually winning.
Besides the Rosenborg match, FKH are underplaying, especially defensively. Thus said, I tend to say VIF (0) or (+0.25) has value with medium stakes

Why did noone mention about over/under in Norwegian thread ? One of the most overish league of the Europe and today the match between Start vs. Rosenborg has a historical background for "over" ... 13 matches and 13 over between these two teams ... What do you think Norwegian experts ?

Vålerenga started this season as predicted, solid away win against Viking, and easy home win against Aalesund..since then they have 1 draw and 4 loss.
Mohammed Abdellaoue (Att) was a guarantee for goals in the first part of last season, but he was sold to Hannover 96 last summer.
Out of nothing, Luton Shelton (Att) took his place as the striker that converted all Vålerengas chances into goals.
For this season, Vålerengas big problem has been their attack. Many chances are being created, but no top striker to finish them off. Luton Shelton and veteran Morten Berre have been injured a lot, new signing Yssouf Kone was injured when Vålerenga bought him, and the creative playmaker Mohammed Fellah still some games from fully recover at top level after his long term injury in the pre-season.
Håvard Nielsen (Att) is a huge talent for sure, but hes not a top scorer yet. Free transfer signing Isaac Boakye (Att) can absolutely score, but he needs time to settle to Vålerengas gameplay.

Martin Andresen senced this problem just before the transfer window closed, and tried to buy Fredrikstads Celso Borges, but the bid was way too low, and the timing was wrong for Fredrikstad to sell.

Vålerenga needs Kone and Shelton, and their Captain Hæstad, back at 100% match fitness to end this bad losing streak of late imo.
