3 bets for me tonight....

Dunfermline vs. Ross County
Advised Bet: ROSS COUNTY +0.75 at 1.82 Sbobet
Big price on the visitors here who I priced up at 1.80 to 1.82 plus half ball so receiving a 0.75 start at this price really is something. For a team who were tipped as outsiders to challenge for the title at the start of the season, it’s fair to say this has been a disappointing campaign for Ross County. They sit just 2 points clear of 2nd bottom Cowdenbeath and clearly new manager Jimmy Calderwood has a rebuilding job on his hands. It is very clear to see this is work in progress though as County are now 6 games unbeaten and picked up their first win in almost 4 months at the weekend when beating title chasing Falkirk 2-1. That win will have given them new found belief and confidence and Calderwood will make sure his side move on from that. Previous to that they had drawn 0-0 an unbelievable 4 games in a row. They have conceded just 2 goals in their last 6 games and Calderwood has made them a lot more solid as a unit and is looking to build from there which is the correct thing to do. Jimmy brings vast experience to the club having managed in the SPL for many seasons and I am sure he has lifted the spirits of everyone at this club hence the reason their turnaround in form. Dunfermline suffered a major title blow on Saturday losing 3-1 at home to Morton and all 3 goals were down to defensive blunders. The pressure is now on even more tonight as this is now a must win game if they are to keep up the chase on table topping Raith. They trail Raith by 6pts already with 1 game in hand so anything other than a victory would hand Rovers a massive advantage as we enter the final straight of the season. The Dunfermline players know this is a must win game and with Countys terrific defensive record of late, the home side may start to panic if they don’t find the net within the first 45 minutes. Even though County are 18pts behind their rivals going into this game, they have actually conceded 1 goal less than them throughout the season so far and that highlights Dunfermlines problems when it comes to defending. Calderwood will set out to frustrate his opponents tonight knowing this is a must win game for them and I believe County can come away with at least a point here and add to their terrific win over Falkirk at the weekend.

Berwick Rangers vs East Stirling
Advised Bet: BERWICK RANGERS -0.75 at 1.96 Sbobet
Once again, things are looking up for Berwick after they endured a horrible run of results throughout January and the start of February. Jimmy Crease has his side performing again as they have won 3 of their last 4 games conceding just 1 goal, that goal coming in a spirited 1-1 draw away at Annan Athletic. They come into this game on the back of a 4-0 win at home to Elgin at the weekend and they have the luxury of playing at home again tonight which is a massive advantage especially for a midweek game at this level. With these clubs being part time, most of the players will have jobs throughout the day and the away team players will have to jump straight on a bus to travel to the game after work. So, after a days work East Stirling will have to endure a 2 hour bus journey to the Borders and they have to do so having lost 7 of their last 8 games (1pt from last 24). If I picture myself in such a situation, I can’t imagine the morale within the club being very good at present and an 80 mile bus journey after a days work certainly doesn’t sound too great either. Maybe I am over working things here but taking this into account I already hand the initiative to the home side who are likely to be well up for this game after Saturdays thumping victory. Berwick will have to do without suspended midfielder John Grant (7 games) but otherwise they have no fresh injury or suspension problems. On the other hand, East Stirling are sweating on the fitness of their entire defence with Craig Tully (11 games), Alex Walker (15 games, 1 goal), Dean Richardson (20 games) and Stuart Beveridge (13 games, 1 goal) all struggling to be fit for this match. There is also no real motivation for the visitors as they cannot make the play offs now having dropped too far off the pace whereas Berwick are only 6pts off the play off places and have 2 games in hand. Massive value on the home side here as I priced them up at around 1.70 minus 0.75 and I can’t see anything other than a convincing home win taking all of the above factors into account.

Clyde vs. Queens Park
Advised Bet: QUEENS PARK -0.5 at 2.04 Sbobet
These teams meet again for the 2nd time in the space of 4 days and Queens ran out convincing 4-0 winners at Hampden on Saturday. Having seen highlights from that game, Queens dominated from the outset and I see no reason why things will be any different here tonight. Jim Duffy has brought a bit of stability back to Clyde but he has had to deal with severe injury problems within his side in the last few weeks and it doesn’t look like stopping tonight. Most of the players who were rated doubtful for Saturdays game did infact play but whether they were fully fit is a different matter. Most of them do remain doubtful for tonights game and as I said, even if they do play, I can’t imagine them being 100% and that already hands the advantage to Queens. Defender Ally Park (16 games) was taken off injured on Saturday further adding to Duffys woes ahead of this game. As I said, Duffy has stabilised the side somewhat and they have recorded home wins over Stranraer and Berwick in the last few weeks but back to back defeats away at Stranraer and Queens ought to have dented their confidence again. They were played off the park by the same side that is likely to line up against them tonight and I can’t imagine the home side being up for this too much. The Spiders are on an incredible run of form picking up 28pts in their last 10 games (9 wins and 1 draw) and they have conceded just 3 goals in their last 10 games which is absolutely outstanding. They have not conceded in their last 5 games and clearly the confidence within their squad is sky high at present. To think Queens Park would be in the play off places and have an outside of challenging for the title a few months ago was almost unthinkable after their terrible start to the season. However, they have obviously got their heads down and worked extremely hard and that work is clearly paying off. I don’t think complacency will be a problem here as they have to keep on performing to cement their play off spot and they could yet launch a late challenge for the championship. These clubs are based in the same area in Glasgow so there is no real travel distance to worry about for the visitors and I see no reason why they won’t pick up another 3 points tonight and extend their already incredible run of form.
