How to use BA forum via Mobile Devices

In general, there are a ways of experiencing and using BA forums via a mobile device, depending on the kind of device you got, and the browsing capabilities of the device.

Option 1: Tapatalk for Iphone/Android/Blackberry/Nokia smartphones

This is a cooperation with the provider www.tapatalk.com
which are porting Vbulletin forums into an Iphone look.
Very easy to use, looks very good, and works very well indeed.

Downside: Full functionalty only with Tapatalk's full version, which costs 2.99 USD in the Iphone App store, and the same on Android's Market.
Same applies for the other smartphone app stores.

Free version can be downloaded without some functionality.

You only got "Read only" with the free version, meaning you can not reply to forum messages in the free version.

Option 2: Auto-detection of skins (text based or default)

BA forum currently got 2 skins. "Default" which is the normal PC view, and "Mobile2", which is a text based view, more like a WAP type of view, no images, only text.

We have installed autodetection of mobile devices.

1. Ordinary phones

"Old" mobile phones without good browsing capabilities will be detected as a device which will automatically get the text based forum view (Mobile2 skin).

2. Iphone/Android/Ipad, etc

More advances phones, typically smart-phones like Iphone, different type of Android based phones, and also Windows Mobile /CE based phones will see the default forum view (Default-skin), BUT they got the ability to change their skin if they want to, manually, but chosing the desired skin in the bottom left of the forum.

3. PC/Mac, etc

Ordinary PC-viewers will default see the "Default-skin", but can manually change to the text based ("Mobile2") skin if they want, by manually changing the drop down in the low left of the forum.

Note that there are many types of smartphones, and sometimes some of them may be detected as "non-smartphones".
If so, let me know via PM, or as postings in this thread, and I will add rules that fixes this.
At the moment I dont have the complete overview of all the different user agent strings needed, but it will come good.

what with "lite" version on symbian phones?

The light version works well to my knowledge. Not heard of any problems.
I have had some PMs from people with problems on Iphone, with the Tapatalk software.
Usually this happens because they have not updated their app in the App store.

I use Tapatalk on my HTC Desire (Android), works like a dream.

Unlike other forums who dont do this, it very easy to use, very compatible with my N95 8GB, and this gives you the edge over other forums
