Anderlecht - AA Gent : AA Gent @ 6,00 ( Bwin )

Ok some of you think i'm a clown to pick Ghent straight on this one.
But my middlename is Braveheart ;-).
Now, the reason why i pick AA Gent is because i have a very strong feeling about this one, even before i saw the odds, and offcourse when i saw the odds i was very suprised it was so high (!).
AA Gent has a new, strong and very fresh team, with the best Belgian coach Michel Preud'Homme (championmaker of Standard last year) like my friend Lokorus already said.
Last game (AA Gent - Bergen 5-0) they played like real champions with very much maturity. They played great football and they didn't need to force thimself. The players find eachother on the field like they are playin 3 years together.
They even played so strong that some of the footballcharacters in Belgium tipped AA Gent as big candidate to become Champion (for the first time).

I know Anderlecht had a very nice result on Cercle Brugge last week (0-3).
But that says it all.
They still aren't playing very good, and Cercle missed 2 big chances in the beginning of the game, because the defence is still shaking a little bit.
I don't need much to type about this game anymore i'm just saying i'm picking AA Gent for the win ;-).
And if you're not sure to pick Anderlecht or AA Gent, pick OVER 2.5 @ 1.80 also Bwin.

GBA - Dender

Dender did not really impress in their first league match. Their away record is quite poor and they miss some experience in their team.

GBA grabbed a point last week in Genk, nice result, although Genk could and should have finished them in the 1st half. GBA's home record is very solid and in their first game in front of their home crowd, I am quite sure they want to deliver a superb performance.

GBA 1@1.65 (Bwin) stake: 4/10

Charleroi - Roeselare:

Same thing as the previous match actually. Roeselare has a really poor away record and bought a lot of new players that still need to find their place in the team.

Charleroi did not deserve to lose last week in Westerlo, so they'll be fired up to win this one.

Charleroi 1@1.60 (Bwin) stake: 4/10

Anderlecht - Gent:

Pfff, the odds are quite ridiculous (as Simon said above). Anderlecht won last week but they search their good form and without their main strikers (injured), I think Gent really has a chance here.

Gent played a great first match where they slaughtered Bergen. Of course, Bergen's defense was also an important factor (as it was quite unstable), but Gent showed they are ready for the championship and a lot is expected from this club.

I would put some small stakes on a victory of Gent as it has great value

Gent 2@5.75 (Unibet) stake: 1.5/10

a bit safer is x2 and if you decide to play Anderlecht, take HCX@3.80 as odds of 1.65 for the home win does not represent value.

Charleroi has surely some value, Roeselare must be one of the poorest team in this competition, and a lot of new signings. In friendlies they showed they aren't ready for competition. Charleroi has a strong home reputation, and I believe this one easily. Handicap can be even a good choice.

I won't back them allthough they sure can win this game. Cercle didn't show a good face last week while everyone expected a lot from them.

Kortrijk has a team with a great fighting spirit, certainly at home where they got big support from great home crowd. Kortrijk fans will be hungry for this game as it's been many years since they played in first division. Kortrijk has a good coach who likes to play attacking football. I think at home they gonna make it very difficult for lots of teams. For example, last year they beat Gent at home for the cup with 5-1.

If you ask me, Kortrijk won't lose but I won't bet on 1x2, instead I'll go for the over 2.5 cause I expect some goals.

Good luck!

Does anyone know if Standard plan on resting players for the Liverpool game in midweek? Thanks a lot.

Anderlecht – Gent: Gent +0.75 @ 1.99 (asia)

Stake: 7/10

Top game of the week-end. Very interesting to follow, I expect nice football and a surprising result. Anderlecht was in huge crisis before the season started: elimination in 2nd qualifying round in CL , lost supercup at rivals Standard, many players who played on very, very bad level and so on . And then first round in the competition, difficult game at Cercle, everybody expects a bad result…. And they win with 0-3. Deserved? Anderlecht good? No ,Anderlecht impressed? NO . Cercle was very weak.
Gent won at home with 5-0 against Bergen. 3 goals from set pieces, but the performance of the team was simply great. Sometimes there is panic in defense but generally the organization in the team is very good, some players like Azofeifa, Thijs, Thompson, Suler playing with serious confidence and I never saw them playing that good as now.

Only small problem is that Ruiz, Suler, Olufade were away during the week to play friendly games, they may be tired and they didn’t trained with the team. But in that case Anderlecht missed the same amount of players, so here it will be equally.

What to expect from this game? A lot. Domination of both teams, some goals (although with new coach Preud’homme there is more organization, and when Preud’homme was Standard coach, the games against Anderlecht were always .. boring and ended under 2.5 goals) .

Gent has a lot of qualities, good organization, big confidence and good form. Anderlecht gained form by winning at Cercle, but let’s be honest and say that their problems aren’t solved yet.

By this way I think that Gent has good chances to take a point (or 3 ? ) from Anderlecht, or at least not to lose by 2.

Standard already with Liverpool in their heads. Coach Boloni might rotate a bit but I expect not too much cause league is also important, especially first game for their fanatic home crowd.

According to Sport.be this should be the lineup for tonight:

Rorys Aragon Espinoza
Marcos Camozzato
Costa Santos Bonfim Dante
Tomislav Mikulic
Mohamed Sarr
Wilfried Dalmat
Marouane Fellaini
Salim Toama
Axel Witsel
Igor De Camargo
Milan Jovanovic

So Defour (mid) and Onyewu (def) as normal starters on the bench.

Westerlo missing Zelenka, De Winter, Ntuka, Sotil and Hellings

Even with this team, Standard should have enough to beat Westerlo at home. And they still have some very good material on the bench if needed.

Kortrijk - Cercle: over 2.5 @ 1.91 (SBO)

Stake: 7/10

Nice bet in my eyes. Kortrijk took a point last week at Roeselare, 2-2 final time there. Kortrijk played with attacking intentions, always trying to score, their defense is not really great, but they always try to take a good result. At home they will definately try to get 3 points

Cercle lost with 0-3 at home against Anderlecht . Last season Cercle was revelation of the season, they always played open football and scored most goals in the league. Also in first game they played attacking game and conceded 3 goals against Anderlecht. Their strongest point is attack and their weakest is defense ..

2 attacking teams with 2 defenses who easily can concede a goal. Both teams will go for 3 points. I'm sure we will see a lot of goals here !

Lokeren - Tubeke : under 2.5 @ 1.80 (Interwetten)

Stake: 7/10

Was surprised to see such good odds. Lokeren was most boring team last season with a lot of draws , no spectacle at all at home and on road, no players who could make the difference and so on .

Last week at Zulte-Waregem Lokeren also showed completely nothing.. Their defense is good, keeper is good but attack is

Tubeke lost at home with 1-2 against Moeskroen but that game was also not really entertaining. I haven't seen many attacking intentions from Tubeke and coach Cartier is known as defensive coach, especially on road. Also Tubeke doesn't have much qualities to make the game, so I'm sure they will defend for 1 point and hope on counter-attacks.

Such games usually ended without many goals, and also here I expect a hard 1-0 victory for Lokeren.

Moeskroen - Mechelen: under 2.5 @ 1.85 (Interwetten)

Stake: 7/10

Like this game as well. Moeskroen won last week with 1-2 at Tubeke, but also Moeskroen wasn't good in attack. Actually their problem is to score goals as Ouali, Custovic aren't in form (at least judging by their games in pre-season and first competition game).

Mechelen will play their first game of the season, and especially on road I expect them to start cautious and play with good organisation. Moreover they will miss their striker Vleminckx, while his replacer Rossini is not a real goalgetter.

Last season the game ended 0-1 and now I expect Moeskroen to dominate the game but both will have problems to create real chances and score goals. Prediction : 1-0

Bergen - Genk : Genk -0.25 @ 1.82

Stake: 7/10

Bergen lost last week with 5-0 at Gent. Okay, they probably gave up after 2-0, but they were really extremely weak. Few days after the coach resigned officially because of health problems and assistant-trainer Pister took over (he was last season coach of Doornik). Bergen lost 2 vital players (Nicaise and Dalmat) and now there is no balance on midfield.

Genk disappointed last week against Germinal Beerschot with 1-1 result. But they were playing good, Barda was very dangerous and hit the bar / post and others missed also good chances. They have a lot of qualities in the team and if they want to play on top this season they better win this game.

It will be a difficult game of course, but I can't see Genk losing at Bergen and I give them around 50% to win this game.

Default Mons Bergen-Rac. Genk

I think the qualitys of Rac. Genk are overestimated. I saw the match again GBA and they didn't play well. GBA yesterday made a poor draw against a very poor Dender. I have serious doubts about this Rac. Genk and I don't believe than can win in Mons. Mons lost their first game 5-0 but today is another game and I think this will be there chance to get their first point(s).
So, my prediction is 1x.

Bergen - Genk Under 2,5.

I'm not risking my money on Genk.
I don't trust them on this one.

Because it's very hard to predict a HW , X, or AW here.

I don't understand why some people here are posting that Genk was very good last week.
They only had the luck that Barda (good striker, Isr.) had a great action in his feet.
For me it's simple, eleminate Barda, keep him out of the game and Genk has nothing, i know this is quite simply explained, but sometimes no more words are needed to make an understatement.
I'm quite dissapointed in this team.

I expect a very boring game, and Bergen can't afford a defeet on this game.

- First game at home this season.
- 5-0 disaster last week.
- New formula this season in Belgian Pro League, with 4 teams who can relegate

So, all the ingredients are there to have a boring game, with very little attraction.

Under 2,5 1.90 @ Bwin is a great pick in my eyes.

GL champs.

2 regular defenders were at the Olympics with Belgium team. (Ciman & Simaeys)
Belgian Football Bond gave the opportunity to the teams who had 2 or more players at Bejing, to postpone their games. Next week at Tubeke they will play their first game of the season.
