FC Groningen - Heracles Almelo Heracles is certainly without Boakye (banned) and vd Bergh (temporarily thrown off the squad) this game. There is also a good chance very important players Garcia Garcia and Maas aren't playing due to injuries (<--check this). Groningen is without defender Sankoh (banned). In his place Argentinian international youth player and newcomer to Groningen Matias Cahais will probably be playing. Don't know much about him because it will be his first full game here, but he should be some big talent from Boca Juniors. Looking at the general difference in quality between these two teams, with almost the whole of the normal Heracles midfield now out and Groningen regaining their form from before the winter transferwindow, with striker Marcus Berg currently on fire, and considering their excellent home record, I see Groningen winning this one.

NB: Heracles had some results (two draws) against Heerenveen and Feyenoord at home lately, but this could be due to their being one of the few teams in Holland to play on non-natural grass. They are used to it, visitors aren't. That and Feyenoord being very shaky at the moment.

Probable Groningen squad (I think): Van Loo; Hiariej, Kruiswijk, Cahais, Stenman; Holla, Metaj(?), Meerdink, Lovre; Powel, Berg.

Pick Homewin. 1,40 @ Unibet 7/10

Vitesse vs VVV Venlo 20:30 (GMT+1)

A friday night clash between the no. 9 Vitesse and no. 16 VVV Venlo.

Vitesse are doing pretty good this season, if football was honost they would have been a couple of rankings higher. Vitesse last two matches were very solid, however they did not receive the points they earned. They played a good match @ Feyenoord where they deserved a point, and last week they conceided a late equaliser after starting the match aggressive.

VVV on the other hand is fighting to avoid the relegation zone. This is a team who does not really adjust to other teams, they just keep playing their own style of football and trust in their own abilities. This has proven to work, butt many times it also proved to be over estimation. They have one good player upfront young Nourdin Ambrabat who is in form. This week Ambrabat received offers from bigger clubs. Their most valuable player Ambrabat could be under pressure in this match.

Venlo won the first match this season 2-0 (2 goals from Ambrabat). Tonight will be different I expect a solid and strong Vitesse who will approach this match as a must win. They ow this to themselfs and the fans, because of the rescently good gameplay. VVV lost their home fixture last week with big numbers 2-5. They seem to react weak to a big loss. I think Vitesse will seal a win in their own Gelredome tonight. Vitesse coach is a better tactician and won't allow anything but a win for Vitesse.

Squad Info
Vitesse: Mads Junker injured, Remco van der Schaaf and Paul Verhaegh return after a match bann.
VVV: Edwin Linssen, Leon Kantelberg injured

Pick home win

VITESSE - VVV
Vitesse and VVV are both teams in need of points. Vitesse is in 9th place, the last place that gives right to the playoffs, while VVV is fighting against relegation. Vitesse was unlucky to see Roda make a late equaliser last week. The week before Vitesse played well against Feyenoord and deserved at least one point in the 1-0 defeat against Feyenoord. This week the opponent will be weaker. Vitesse is usually good against the smaller teams, so a home win should be logical. Although they have some problems scoring lately, I think hard working Santi Kolk and Harrie Gommans should be able to break down the VVV defence.
Prediction: 2-0

Thnx Hipmanz, but mind there are some changes in the Groningen squad...

Marcus Berg might be out with a back injury, not yet decided. Important loss if this is true. Cahais might not play after all. No word on Garcia Garcia and Maas yet for Heracles.

New probable Groningen line up: Van Loo; De Roover, Hiariej, Kruiswijk, Stenman; Meerdink, Holla, Metaj, Lovre; Nijland, Powel.

Groningen should still be able to win this one, maybe play a little less stake. 5-6/10

The Vitesse pick mentioned above also seems very nice.

Roda JC vs AZ Alkmaar 19:30 (GMT+1)

Roda no.7 host AZ no.11 today in Kerkrade. I don't expect a full stadium tonight, and the visiters will have a good chance.
Roda are very strong this season and their goal is participation in the playoffs of the dutch league. However AZ has the same goal, but they are not actually direct rivals if we look at the league rankings.
This is a match between solid and strong Roda vs struggling AZ, AZ who only booked one victory in 2008! Butt here is the deal,

I have seen improvement in AZ's play in the last two matches. I think their confidence will be much higher compared to that during their bad streak. They still need to get back to winning days, butt I think maybe that moment is today against Roda. The players are much more calm and I
think they are starting to play as a team again. So I don't expect them to loose tonight it will atleast be a draw.

It all depends of Roda, Roda played a mid-weak cupmatch away against 2nd division team Dordrecht. Roda won the match 1-3, but I have seen the way they performed and they were not that good. Lady Luck was on their side. AZ had all week to prepare for this match, and I think they will have a surprise up their sleaves. Roda; With a midweek match in their legs and a visit from a AZ who is showing symptoms of high team moral and winning intensions I will go with the AZ handicap.

Squad info
Roda JC: Jeanvion Yulu Matondo en Fatih Sonkaya are banned. Jamaique Vandamme, Andes Oper, Sekou Cissé and Vincent Lachambre are injured

AZ: Joey Didulica, Stijn Schaars, Gijs Luirink, Maarten Martens en Milano Koenders, all are long term injured

Pick AZ HC

Groningen - Heracles
I am not so sure that Groningen win this match.
Heracles are playing really good with Garcia (witch plays today!) simply dictating midfield.
Strikers lakic (herta bsc) en everton are scoring goals.

Problem heracles is that they almost never win at a outside match.

I will take a x2 at bwin. 2.50

Groningen - Heracles Garcia Garcia and Maas are fit in time for this game, important Groningen striker Berg is not playing! I still think Groningen will win it (Great home team, overall difference in quality), but this makes it a lot more tricky. Watch out.

FC Utrecht - PSV Eindhoven (1:0) (Handicap) 2 2,90

fc utrecht last weeks were poor , loosing against vvv at home and also last week match against sparta they lost and played there worst match ever. Its true they have major worries with insured players but also the spirit is missing.

now on sunday the will face the number one psv. Utrecht still has a lot of troubels, with just cornelisse back from a one match ban, on friday trainer van hanegem lost kruys(sick) and george(ankle) and those two can added to a long list off sick and insured players.

keller, kopteff and van de gun started training but are not able to play acomplete match, not even one half, off those three only van de gun worked out the whole training.

it has been 16 years ago when utrecht won at home against psv.

with youngster ruiter still in the goal and a week defence it will be fun for psv strikers and there will be goals, an over 2,5/3,5 is possible but psv

FC Utrecht - PSV Eindhoven (1:0) (Handicap) 2 2,90

is a very nice pick in my eyes.
psv is taking sundays match very serious trying to keep it 9 points between them and ajax and they also took friday morning’s behind-closed-doors training session.

Defender Eric Addo, who is trying to shake off a hamstring problem, trained separately on Friday morning, supervised by fitness coach Luc van Agt. Tommie van der Leegte joined the squad for full training, but Vergoossen was not confident that the player would be fit enough to feature but further no insury worries.

there is nothing more important then to stay nr 1 in the dutch competition cause only that place will get you direct into the champions league, nr 2 till 9 are playing play offs to get a place and have to play extra matches. so psv taking 3 points in utrecht against an weak fc utrecht is gift for them knowing ajax will probally walk over exelsior at home so as trainer from psv said"against fc utrecht is like all matches coming a final and we have play 8 finals in 8 coming matches.

so no easy thinking and at full strenght against utrecht.

My 1st pick for today is the following one:

Holland – Eredivisie (Sun 3/2)

8.30am ET
Utrecht vs. PSV Eindhoven

Recommended play(**): PSV -0.5 and -1 .-101

Note: Van Hanegem´s team is playing like my yesterday picks for the last
months which isn´t always due to the referee as he is assuming. So PSV
is back a decent team since Sjef Vergoossen is coach and I´m interested
to see them playing as the have to visit Tottenham Hotspurs the coming week.
I think an easy win for PSV who didn´t have a loss in Utrecht for more
than 20 years.

Good luck,

Mike Thomas

The last time that Utrecht won at their own ground from PSV was in the season 1992/1993.

here's a selection of unavailble players of Utrecht:

Loval, Keller, Sanmartean, Kopteff, Shew-Atjon, Vorm, Somers
Doubt: Kruys, George, Van der Gun

I don't think it will be a high scoring game, but PSV will be solid and will win the game with 1 or 2 goals difference this afternoon.

Feyenoord vs NEC

NEC is very unpredictable this season, NEC coach Mario Been has to visit his old club Feyenoord. He use to play for this club back in the days.

NEC is currently ranked no.12. Last week they won 3-2 @ Heerenveen. Today the story is whole lot different. This is a visit to stadium "the Kuip". They will face a Feyenoord that had to play a midweek cupmatch against 2nd division team fc Zwolle. You could see how Feyenoord struggled in this match and that they had to fight for their victory. I think today will be a similar scenario.

NEC will adjust their style of play to Feyenoord. This Feyenoord is limited in their squad, especially when Giovanni van Bronckhorst is a doubt. This is a blow for the organisation in midfield. Feyenoord also has a midweek match in their legs.
Because of the expected style of NEC and a Feyenoord who are aware of NEC's dangerous counterattacks this will be a match with many goals. Feyenoors has limitation outback and NEC will atleast score. Feyenoord will feel like playing offensive, butt they will be suprised by NEC.

Squad info

Feyenoord: Kevin Hofland banned, Andwélé Slory, Chun-Soo Lee, Ron Vlaar.

NEC: ?
