MARIO AN***268;I***262; Vs. J.C.FERRERO
PREDICTION: An***269;i***263; to win
STAKE: 4/10
ODDS: 2,10

Last year was disaster for Super Mario. He missed out more then half of last season due to injury and illnes. He also got blow last week in Adelaide where he had to cancel the tournament because of flu. Now he is 100% ready for tennis. He prepared almost 3 months for new season and the results of hard work must be showed now. For JC Ferrero this is first tournament of the season. He got 3-0 against An***269;i***263; , but last match they played in 2004. Mario's tennis was much improved since that time and now he got much more mental strength, and much more expirience, while JC Ferrero for sure isn't so good like before 4-5 years. Super Mario is for sure player for top 10 and I'm sure that he will very soon prove that.

For Todays bet i like:

T.Johansson-Monaco -1 .1,65

Monaco has not played for 70 days,This is his first official match after October 07.T. Johansson is in good form, made good resistance to Murray in first set in Doha,I believe he is better player than Monaco at the moment and will beat him after Monacos long pause.

Kohlsreiber-Russel 1, 1,35

Kohlsreiber improved his play a lot during last year,he is full of confidence and he schould beat average tennis player Russel.

DMITRY TURSUNOV Vs. STANISLAS WAWRINKA
PREDICTION: Wawrinka to win
STAKE: 7/10
ODDS: 1,65

Both of players were in Doha last week. Tursunov was knocked out in 1/4 final against Davydenko 5:7 3:6 after winning in 1st round against poor hardcourter Montanes 2:0 and in 2nd round against Kiefer without match. Wawrinka played in Doha's final where he was stopped by Andy Murray 4:6 6:4 2:6. He came to that final without loosing single set against A.Martin, C.Rochus, Calleri and Ljubi***269;i***263;. He showed great form in Qatar and he is a type of player which Tursunov don't like. Tursunov is big hitter and he can be very dangerous for every opponent, but oftener he got problems with unforced errors.

MARIN ***262;ILI***262; - Vs. TOMAS CAKL
PREDICTION: ***262;ili***263; to win
STAKE: 10/10
ODDS: 1,25

Well it's not great odd, but I'm pretty sure that ***262;ili***263; is at least for one class better player than Cakl. There is more than 200 places difference between this two players. Marin played great last week in Chennai where he knocked out by later champion Youzhny. He came in Chennai 1/2-final after wins against Troicki, Mahut and Haase. Cilic was great in the finish of last season too - he through to semi final of St Petersburg where he lost to Verdasco but he beat Gulbis and Davydenko before that. Cakl played last week in New Caledonia challenger and lost to Martin Slanar in two sets 2:6 3:6. Here he come from qualification and I think that first round here is maximum for that player.

CHRIS GUCCIONE Vs. ALBERTO MARTIN
PREDICTION: Guccione to win
STAKE: 7/10
ODDS: 1,45

Home-boy Guccione against spanish clay-player Martin. Guccione came from Adelaide where he was stopped in second round. After 7:5 7:6 in 1st round against Odesnik he was defeated by PH Mathieu 6:4 3:6 4:6. Martin came from Asian continent where he lost to Wawrinka in Doha's 1st round easily 2:6 2:6. Guccione have great serve and Martin is nothing special on hard court. I expect easy win for home-boy.

CARLOS MOYA Vs. STEFAN KOUBEK
PREDICTION: Koubek at least one set
STAKE: 8/10
ODDS: 1,50

For me this is very nice offer. Yes; Moya played great in Chennai last week, and lost to Nadal in semi final in match where he got 4 match points but match finally goes to Rafa. In Chennai he beat Gabashvili, Kudryatsev and Serra before match with Nadal. Koubek played in Doha last week and he was defeated by Ljubi***269;i***263; in first round 4:6 4:6. Koubek and Moya have 3:3 record in their h2h matches; but last 2 times Koubek was the winner - both times on hard court. This is the match between two "old friends" but Moya must feel some tiredness afther hard matches in Chennai and almost 4 hours long match against Rafa. Koubek can easily beat Moya here, but i go on safer option - Koubek to get at least one set.

I disagree here.

If Wawrinka is clearly the better player, the fact that he had a tough week (especially a tough final), a 15-20 hours trip to Sydney and now has a big jetlag can't be ignored. And he plays tomorrow morning first game of the day. Also, the conditions are totally different in Sydney than in Doha (temperature, new surface...).
Seriously, I would also lay Federer in the same case.

Price dropped quite a lot. Wawrinka can now be found at over 1.80 but my bet is definitely TURSUNOV AT 2.16 ON BWIN (Bwin settles if Wawrinka retires during first set, which can totally happen).

IVO MINAR Vs. ALUN JONES
PREDICTION: Jones at least one set
STAKE: 6/10
ODDS: 1,45

Another home-boy against mediocre opponent. I don't see Minar here as a much better player than Jones. This will be 1st apperaence for Minar in new season, while Jones already played in Adelaide and lost to Korolev in first round. Jones had very good results on 3 challengers from the finish of last season - all of them were in Australia on the same surface like this one in Sydney. I see very good chance for Jones to reach the next round in front of his home fans against mediocre czech player.

Wawrinka vs. Tursunov 08.01.2008
Wawrinka made a fantastic tournament at Doha where he reached the final that he lost after a thriller at Murray : Qatar Open, Mδnner, Doha, Katar, Asien 05/01-08 Finale Wawrinka, Stanislas vs. Murray, Andrew 1:2 46 64 26 04/01-08 Halbfinale Wawrinka, Stanislas vs. Ljubicic, Ivan 2:0 76 64 03/01-08 Viertelfinale Wawrinka, Stanislas vs. Calleri, Agustin 2:0 63 60 02/01-08 1/8 Finale Wawrinka, Stanislas vs. Rochus, Christophe 2:0 62 75 01/01-08 Runde 3 Wawrinka, Stanislas vs. Martin, Alberto 2:0 62 62 but I am sure that now is tired and should not risk any injury before Australian open start ... Tursunov is here at Sydney at the corner waiting him and punishing him hard Imo , and he has for sure all the weapons to beat Stan Wawrinka : the serve , the volley and if he use his head also will be more easy ! I did not find H2H statistic , but I am sure that starting with tomorow Tursunov will lead 1-0 . Good luck to everybody here and more picks as soon as possibel .

• League: Tennis - ATP Tour - ATP Sydney, Australia

• Pick: Tursunov

Kohlschreiber vs. Russell 07.01.2008
I have to write again because I had some electricity problems and I restarted my PC now - I like this pick a lot because I see here in this match at least one tiebrwak because we have two good serve machines that will make their serve and in a tiebreak as U all know everythnig is possibel ... Kohlschreiber played good at Doha reachnig quater final : Qatar Open, Mδnner, Doha, Katar, Asien 03/01-08 Viertelfinale Kohlschreiber, Philipp vs. Ljubicic, Ivan 1:2 36 76 36 02/01-08 1/8 Finale Kohlschreiber, Philipp vs. Volandri, Filippo 2:0 64 61 31/12-07 Runde 3 Kohlschreiber, Philipp vs. Hernandez, Oscar 2:0 63 61 but still I not consider him a hard court specialist , maybe he is better on clay , while the American Russel enjoy playing on hard and using his server power serve ! No H2H statistics but this match should be equal and I see great vaule in the underdog to steal at least one set ! Medium to high stakes recomandation . Good luck more picks sooner or later )) Cheers .

• League: Tennis - ATP Tour - ATP Auckland, New Zealand

• Pick: Russel M.+1.5 set handicap
• Odds: 1.85

Massu vs. G.Jones 07.01.2008

I can not understand somethnig here but I like this bet - Greg Jones the new star of Australian tennis only 18 years old finalist last year at Roland Garros , semi at Wimbledon and quater finalist AO and Us Open in junior competision played and lost against Calleri in the first round in Sydney and now I see him wild card at Aukland !?! But this is not important important is that he will face Massu - the old Massu that passed here qualifying event to reach the main draw - what a shame for this Massu !!! where is the old Massu the gold medalist from ATHENA Olympics games 2004 ?!? So I trust again the teenager to steal a set - now in front of Massu that beat until now in qualifying event : Jesse Levine, 2/2008 ATP Auckland (NZL) Hard Nicolas Massu Francesco Aldi 6-3 6-3 So now will have a differente mission in witch will have a hard match . medium stakes on this interesting bet !!! Good luck .

A lot of internet problems in my area caused by a storm so i'll make it fast.

I totally disagree with Tunisian on the Kohlschreiber bet.Yes , he met with two claycourters last week but let's not forget he won a good set against Ljubicic.
He has a better serve than Russel and i also believe a better technique so he clearly has to be the favorite here.
At Auckland he managed a QF last year and also 3 years ago after coming from Qualifiers. He also made it to the main draw in 2005 after 3 qualfiying matches but fell in the first round. So he must like something about the surface here.
Russel hasn't played in Auckland since 2003 and that may be a stepback also.
Last week at Adelaide Russel beat JM Del Potro but when he met a player made for hardcourts he lost in straight sets.I predict the same thing to happen again today , but as the motivation factor may not be at maximum for Kohlschreiber i'll leave it to small stakes.

Again , i don't advise you betting big on this tournament , like every tournament before and after a grand slam you don't know what the players really want .

For me ,
Kohlschreiber to win 2-0 @ 2.00 stanjames with 4 units

Also another match that i would have played with bigger stakes if it were in another tournament should be Peer to cover Kuznetsova's spread.

Kuznetsova is at her first tournament this year after a 0-3 run in the end of the season at the Champions Tournament.
If you look at what she does before the GS tournaments you can see that she doesn't like to play them and she usually doesn't register . For example , before last year's AO she retired here in the first round, before the French Open last year she skipped the tournament , same thing with the grass tournaments before the Wimbledon.
She has a 0-2 record against Peer on hardcourts and the israeli power shots must put some pressure on her.
In any way , even if Kuznetsova has the weapons and the skills to beat her , i believe she will have a lot of problems doing it and she won't be able to cover the spread.

So for me
Peer (+2.5 games) @ 1.85 gamebookers/fonbet with 3 units.

This will probably be my last bet until the AO unless anything very good appears.Don't forget , if you want tips for the AO to contact me

Good luck to all and see you after the slam ends !

Kohlschreiber had to travel all the way from Doha to Oceania within the last couple of days. He might be suffering from fatigue. As far as I know, Russell is fresh, therefore I personally would not recommend any picks here.

1.Johansson is the banker of the night for me , great plays in last while and his doing very good on hard surfaces , Monaco is also a good player but for the moemnt i think is out of form due to long absence, i will take [b]
Johansson 9/10

2. Second game, solid Mathieu against Del Potro, i think if Mathieu will play with full determination the victory can not be very hard to take, Del Potro started the year very poor against Russel who is no more than a big server, Mathieu is sureley the better player so :
Mathieu 7/10 , and Mathieu 2-0 2/10 [b]

3. Sirianni over Darcis is also a good bet for me , Sirianni has showed very good tenis , and is the period of year for him when is doing his best ,
[b] Sirianni 4/10

4. No too many comentaries for this one, Malisse has showed good improvements after long injury, but Nieminen is at least a class over him at this moment
Nieminen 7/10 [b]

5. I will try small odds on Stephanek for tonight because Robre dissapointing me last match, i think the fizic form is not 100%, so the odds worth a try : [b] Stephanek 3/10

6. Last play of the night is a combo : Cilic, Guccione 7/10
