new snow is also expected for friday and saturday, but i don't think it will be a problem, as every stadium has a heated pitch
also most of the matches will be played in the northern part of germany where normally isn't that much snow

i just remembered, that Bayern also played the opening match of the second round in the last two years...

Jan 27, 2006 Mönchengladbach 1-3 Bayern München
Jan 21, 2005 Bayern München 3-0 Hamburger SV

both times, Bayern won with handicap and the game went over 2,5 goals... perhaps a small trend?

hamburg seems to be the best best of the week but they are playing away this week and that kinda keeps me away from betting on them. How do you guys think? Doll has to start winning or else his position as the manager is gonna gone any moment.

Only chance for Hamburg is the trouble around Bielelfeld coach von Heesen, but for me HSV no bet.

Arminia Bielefeld - Hamburger SV

Well, before the season everybody thought that HSV will play a major roll in this season, but all that collapsed in the first 5-6 games in the season. Now evrybody is thinking of NOT backing HSV and that they are too risky with their playing....I agree that's true but at the start of the second half in the season I think that this HSV players may have some thoughts about winning some games...and that's why I'm thinking about putting a small bet on HSV (on risk!)

pick: HSV to win @ 2.70 3/10 stakes

cheers

guys, you must be crazy... i wouldn't put any money on hamburg before they show any improvement, bielefeld on the other side played some solid football in the first round

odds of 2,70 doesn't even have value as they are set correctly

Bielfeld - HSV
Bielefeld is very hard to beat them @home.
But some missings will return to HSV: Sorin, Demel and de Jong are back from injuries! But there are doubtful players: Wicky, Trochowski, Mahdivikia Jarolim, Guerrero and Kompany. And there are suspensions: Atouba and van der Vaart will miss the game. This is a big weakening for HSV. Bielefeld has no injuries or suspensions! I can't see more than a DRAW for HSV. So my pick is DRAW @3,20 small stakes.

Dortmund - Bayern
Dortmund will face Bayern in Signal Iduna Park. Dortmund isn't so much strong @home. They drew 5 times and lost 2 times but won 2 times too. Bayern was in the beginning very weak in away games. But after the match against Leverkusen (won 3-2 after they were 1-2 down!) they became more and more stronger. They won in Hamburg 2-1 and in Mainz 4-0! I rate Dortmund like HSV. Bayern will miss only Ismale due to the longterm injury. For Dortmund Wörns (captain) will miss the game. This is not good for BVB because he's the defence man. Kehl is also injured. Frei, Valdez and Ricken are not 100% fit for the game, but they'll play. In this game i can't see Dortmund scoring. Because of the injuries i only see an AW for Bayern! Odds are 2,10 . Take it with medium stakes! I'll also try Bayern-0,5&-1,0 @2,36 .

Frankfurt - Schalke
Schalke, one aspirant for the German champion will play against Frankfurt. Schalke showed us some good football with their 4-3-3 style. Frankfurt had problemes in defence, they conceded many goals. Today Rehmer (central defender) will miss the game. The long term injuries Jones, Chris and Preuß are back but not 100% fit. They didn't play much in Bundesliga so i think they will sit in the bench and will play during the game to get experience! Schalke will only miss the longterm injury Asamoah. Schalke must win this game if they want to stay above. They have only one wish: to become champion . I think Schalke will play with 3 forwards like they do often. Schalke should win this but i think OVER is better for this game cause of the weakness in the defence of Frankfurt! Odd is around 1,94 . And small stakes on AW @2,20.

Dortmund Vs Bayern Munchen (pick:Bayern-1 7/10)
I will back Bayern tonight, they can put their strongest ling-up and trainer Magath is full of confidence, told their official site that Bayern must have a good start in 2007.
Dortmund face some injury problem, captain Worns, international midfielder Kehl will out, Ricken, Valdez and Frei cannot completed their training this week, their attack power will be very doubtful tonight.
Bayern won their first starting game last two years, they have good results in friendlies, beating Hamburg away easily last weekend, have far better quality and physical condition, with 100% concentration, they can win this game without big problem.

Nurnberg Vs Stuttgart (pick:draw 4/10; under 4/10)
Nurnberg is the KING of draw before winter break, they allready draw eleven league games this season, more than 64% so far, within Bayern and Schalke, lost only one game at home, only 1:2 against Bremen, really hard to beat at home, but tomorrow they will without defender Glauber and attacking midfielder Mintal, I think the chance of them to take all three points also not so big. At their last nine home games, they have six games finish under 2.5, and four of them final result were 1:1.
This game is a very interesting southern derby, at last seven years, they meet eleven time in Bundesliga, the away team took 7 won, 3 draw and only 1 lost, but the statistics of Stuttgart starting of last few years was very bad, last season they took eight games unbeated before the winter break, but steped to 2006, they couldnt won at first four games, may be after a long holiday, their young players cant concentrate at once.
(one thing I want to ask my germany friend ,is da Sliva suspension tomorrow ?)

Aachen-Leverkusen

If we look at all the results between the two teams played at Aachen from 1962 to 2000, we can see that Aachen has dominated. Out of eight games, Aachen has won six, though the latest in the German cup in 2000 was won by Leverkusen.

Maybe it's only history but I would be careful betting on Leverkusen.

Maybe it's only history but I would be careful betting on Leverkusen.
but you can see the results of last four games between two teams :
12/08/2006 Leverkusen 3:0 Aachen
31/10/2000 Aachen 1:2 Leverkusen
09/05/1979 Aachen 1:4 Leverkusen
12/11/1978 Leverkusen 2:0 Aachen

Leverkusen also played really good at derbys this season:
17/12/2006 Dortmund 1:2 Leverkusen
08/11/2006 Bochum 1:3 Leverkusen
28/10/2006 Monchengladbach 0:2 Leverkusen
01/10/2006 Leverkusen 3:1 Schalke
12/08/2006 Leverkusen 3:0 Aachen

Leverkusen usually play better after winter break, last season they took 33 points in last 17 games, the No.1 in Bundesliga.

Hertha vs Wolfsburg.

Wolfsburg will come with Marcelinho, you know him as a former player at Berlin. First match for him after his Trab-adventure and he will be very motivated, coz they sent him off after he came late from Brazil to Berlin last year. You have to handle Marcelinho with smart hands, he`s a genuis as player.

Hertha will miss goalie Fiedler, who will be replaced by Stuhr-Ellegard and that could be a problem. No match in Bundesliga, but seven matches in Regio North and he got 12 goals. That`s a little bit too much.
K. Boateng will miss also the match, Dejagah will play for him; in eight matches he was sent off seven times. Dejagah had to play in Regio North a few months before, coz he played arrogant and didn`t work much on the pitch. He`s a brilliant technical player, like Bastürk he`s a small man, so the midfield of Hertha will be around 1,70cm.

Hertha is strong ah with 6-2-0, Wolfsburg otr is average with 2-3-4, but with the comeback of Marcelinho and the unexpierenced goalie of Hertha I see a chance of 3/10 for DC X2, odds about 2,12.

HALLO desert2006 I TOTALY AGREE WITH YOU !!
E. FRANKFURT - SCHALKE 04 PICK 2

SCHALKE HAS A NEW SPONSOR GAZPROM FROM RUSSIA .
SCHALKE HAS A VERY GOOD TEAM WITH NICE PLAYERS, PLAYMAKER LINCOLN IS BACK IN THE FIRST TEAM FROM INJURY. LINCOLN IS A VERY IMPORTANT PLAYER FOR SCHALKE, THEY DONT HAVE PROBLEMS WITH INJURYES. I THINK SCHALKE WILL BE THIS SEASON CHAMPION IN GERMANY BECAUSE THEY PLAY ONLY IN THE GERMANY CHMPIONAT.

ON THE OTHER HAND FRANKFURT HAVE BIG PROBLEMS WITH INJURYES PLAYERS.

ITS A CLEAR AW FOR SCHALKE 04

GOOD LUCK !!

Wellcome Bundesliga, yesterday begun an exciting first round. I usually don't risk in first round and use it more for study the current form of the teams and so I have in mind just some small bets.

Bluesman said all that , wich I think about Hertha - Wolfsburg game, the wolves are often hard to beat because of their tight play and phisical power , but the silly defensive mistakes brought them also many times down. However their place at the table is according to me just normal and by no means we should underestimate them. Knowing Hertha has some injury problems, a few units on Wolfsburg is worth a bet I think.
Pick (Sportingbet):
Hertha BSC -0.5,-1 Wolfsburg 0.5, 1 @ 1,80 Away - 5/10 - and you get half of your stake back if Wolfsburg loose by one gooal margin

Few words about HSV game - they have again the longest injury list and they'll struggle for sure. Bielefeld showed solid games at home, but I remember them performing worse at the second half at the season couple a times, when the got a first half table position at the semi-season.
HSV will fight for their skin - this is sure, so I'll try a draw and 0-1 1-2 exact socre cover as I'm expecting low-socring game here , but when a team must survive - you never know
Pick (Sportingbet) :

Bielefeld - HSV - DRAW @ 3,25 2/10

Bielefeld - HSV - 0:1 - exact score 0,5/10
Bielefeld - HSV - 1:2 - exact score 0.5/10

Eintracht Frankfurt
Pröll - P. Ochs, Kyrgiakos, Vasoski, Spycher - Huggel, Jones - A. Streit, A. Meier, Amanatidis - Takahara

Injured player
Rehmer (Muskelfaserriss)

1 injured player, it´s this BIG PROBLEM?

Eintracht Frankfurt: Pröll - Ochs, Kyrgiakos, Vasoski, Spycher - Huggel, Jones - Streit, Meier, Amanatidis - Takahara

FC Schalke 04: Neuer - Rafinha, Bordon, Krstajic, Rodriguez - Ernst - Varela, Kobiashvili - Lincoln - Kuranyi, Halil Altintop

A late injury of the left winger Pander brings Rodriguez back in the first team. I think this is a big blow for Schalke, because Pander was one of the best players in the last matches. Mr. Slomka ( coach of Schalke ) is a little bit wired today. Why? Because he changed the system from 4-3-3 to 4-4-2 to bring back Lincoln in the first eleven. Is this wise? We will see today…
I still think that Schalke is to strong for Frankfurt. IMO Streit and Meier are the best players of Frankfurt, if Schalke can success to stop these players they will win this game. IMO Ernst, Bordon and Krstajic are definitely able stop these two… Takahara and Amanitidis are both players who are needing to much chances to score, and against one of the best central defenders in the Bundesliga, they will not have so many chances to score in this game…

Besides the system change and the injury of Pander I am still confident that Schalke will win this game.

MY PICK: AW
ODDS: 2,1
STAKES: 7/10

I see that most of teams can't adapt the first matches as bayern münchen,fenerbahçe... I can't say that schalke win easily but they must win this game if they want to be champion.I think this match maybe suprise of the day

Hertha Berlin - Wolfsburg : Draw 3.5 @ Betfair 5/10
Bundesliga is back. The first stage in 2007 started yesterday. Dortmund beat Bayern with 3-2. My favourite match for today in Bundesliga is Hertha - Wolfsburg.
Hertha (5th) is unbeaten at home (6W-2D-0L) will recieve Wolfsburg (13th) visit, with 2 wins, 3 draws and 4 loses in away matches.
Wolfsburg bought an important player, Marcelinho from Trabzon. Marcelinho will play against Hertha, the team where he played so many years in Bundesliga. Wolfsburg have a very good chance to grab at least one point in Berlin. Hertha`s goalkeeper is injured and a debutant will replace him, Stuhr-Ellegard
Probable Line-ups
Hertha : Stuhr-Ellegaard - A. Friedrich, van Burik, Simunic, Fathi - Dardai - Dejagah, Bastürk, Gilberto - Pantelic, Gimenez
Wolfsburg : Jentzsch - Quiroga, Madlung, Hofland, Van der Heyden - Makiadi, Sarpei, van der Leegte, Krzynowek - Marcelinho - Klimowicz
