hhmmm... are you sure ?
Its because in Denmark the game starts 270204 at 0200 but that is because of the time zone.
Is the game´s "day" determined by wich country it is placed in ? - if so I´ll erase it.

You can choose any game/event from the bookmakers listed above, but it must finish before 13.00 (GMT +1) the next day.

I've read the rules and now I'm not sure. This quote is all it's said about it. I thought that all events which finish before 13.00 CET belong to day before. Otherwise we could have situation that one game could be taken in two days/threads.

Every betting day starts at 10.00 in the morning and lasts until 10.00 next day, so all night games so to the day prior... so you need to take another pick, Janx!

FC Schalke 04 (A) - FC Sachsen Leipzig 1 @ 2.25 Expekt
FC Schalke 04 (A) - FC Sachsen Leipzig postponed

This game is from Regionalliga Nord, first match after the winter break.

Table situation:

13 Schalke 04 Am. 19 6 2 11 28:39 -11 20
14 Sachsen Leipzig 19 4 7 8 25:30 -5 19

Schalke home: 3-2-4
Sachsen away: 1-3-6

Schalke Amateure are the youth "farm team" of the Bundesliga team, produced Delura, Lamotte or Petereit some sights at first league football. After a good start into the season the young "Königsblaue" are in serious relegation trouble now with only 4 pts. from last 10 games. For this particular game coach Kleppinger can count on popular support: Jörg Böhme, Victor Agali, Dario Rodriguez and Sergio Pinto will be available from the pro squad, because Jupp Heynkes thinks they need to play a few games before returning to Bundesliga team in order to gain live experience again. That should really be a huge advantage in this game! I remember the last game before winter break when Bor. Dortmund (A) - they are better than Schalke (A) anyway - were supported by pros and beat them 5-0 easily.

Fist match between Schalke and Sachsen ended in a 2-0 away win, that was the time when Schalke was in good shape however. Sachsen, one of the most traditional teams of East Germany can count on supporters all the way but what about the team? Surely they're not without a chance in this away game. To be mentioned is that their away record is the second worst in Regionalliga Nord. I really can't tell anything profound about the team's strengths, they can't be that good considering a 5 game non- winning streak. During the winter break Sachsen signed 5 new players from other Regionalliga squads, making it 15 new players total to start this season.

Odds are real, Schalke won't beat them easily, I suppose- with the help of usually good Bundesliga players the momentum is in favor of Schalke.

ATP Tennis - Marseille

My pick of the day is Soderling to beat Gonzalez.
(Centrebet: 2.20 on soderling)

****PICK WON**** I respect players who show some balls!
Gonzalez has had some excellent results in the past on hard court despite his natural preference for clay. In this tournament, he has beaten Kucera and Nieminen (two very tough competitors when they are on their game), however, Kucera was not 100% fit, and Nieminen imho has a tendency to be too inconsistent at times. I think Soderling will be a real challenge for him.

Soderling has impressed me so far with his two wins over quality and in-form players Carraz and Enqvist. I was actually a bit surprised to see him get through these players and lost some $ in the process.

Although he has had a slow start to the year so far, I believe he is starting to find the good form he displayed in the latter part of 2003. He has also had his experience in an ATP final in Shanghai late last year against (a then in-form) Phillipousis and went down fighting. I think that the experience there will pay off now and should be able to take the next step up in his career.

In any case, Soderling's game is well-suited to this tournament. He serves well and this will make a big impact on this surface. His attitude is good too, as he has said that he is enjoying this tournament as he has fond memories of playing some of his junior tennis in France - I can only see this relaxed attitude as enhancing his chances of overcoming Gonzalez.[/quote]

Pick of the day 27.2.:

Houston - Portland (+4.5) away win odds 1.98 Pinnacle Sports

POR has won the last four meetings ATS. POR is 9-2 ATS in their last 11 overall. The under is 4-0-1 in POR's last five road games. The under is 8-2 in the last 10 meetings. HOU is 4-10 ATS in their last 14 overall. The over is 4-1 in HOU's last five at home.

Potland is 10-4 ATS during the last 14 meetings in this series and enter Friday's road battle on a 5 game winning streak. Portland is 10-1 ATS when facing a squad which is averaging less then 91 points per game and Houston putting up an average of just 88 so far this year. Houston is only 13-15 ATS at the Toyota Center, and they have failed their last 4 ATS against the Blazers, losing 7 of the last 9 tilts SU. The Blazers have been blazing of late, winning 5 in a row, including their last 3 on the road. Portland is also 10-1 ATS their last 11 on the road.

Overall balance in February: 7/10 (this is 11th pick)

Good luck.

Icehockey, NHL

Florida-Washington 1 ----> 1.95 @expekt

Florida is the better team of these two, especially on home ice. Florida also show very good form lately. Three wins and two draws in the last five, despite playing four away games. Defence also very solid, with only three goals conceeded in these five games, much thanks to a red hot in super form goalie Luongo. Motivation should also be higher at Florida. They will probably not reach the play offs, but if they still have any dream of reaching it, then this is a must win.
These two team also met only five days ago. That game ended 2-2. It should be a diffrent story now when Florida play at home.

Washington seem to have shaped up a little, but only have one win in the last five, despite playing all of those games at home. Probably a tight and low scoring game, but my money is on the home team.

18.02 – Macedonia – Bosnia, H, 2.50 @ Will Hill – Pick won 150
19.02 – Den Bosch (-1.5) – Fortuna S, H, 1.962 @ Pinnacle – Pick won 246
20.02 – QPR – Peterborough, H/H, 1.80 @ Will Hill – Pick lost 146
21.02 – Schalke 04 – Werder Bremen, H, 2.50 @ Will Hill – Pick lost 46
22.02 – Hertha – Frankfurt, H, 1.72 @ WillHill – Pick lost -54
23.02 – TORINO – COMO, H, 1.85 @ WillHill – Pick won 31
24.02 – Celta – Arsenal, over 2 ¼, 1.87 @ Pointbet – Pick won 118
25.02 – Porto – Man. Utd, over 2 ½ goals, 2.025 @ Pointbet – Pick won 221
26.02 – Celtic – Teplice, over 2 3/4 goals, 2.075 @ Pointbat – Pick ½ won 275
So far so good won 5 ½ out of 9 games and ending the month with profit.
And now the final pick for February:

28.02 – Nuernberg (0) - Aue (1), H, 1.3 @ Pointbet
Even they have played a draw at their last home game, Nuernberg is still one of the best home teams. They have won 7 out of 10 games this season, and they should not have any problems against Erzgebirge Aue who have lost 6 games away in this season, and won only 2 games.
Even they have playd a draw agaisnt Mainz 05 2 weeks ago, they were still better, and even with 10 players they were closer to win this game than guests. Last week they have one an important game in Cotbuss, and they are on the way to 1.Bundesliga.

Toronto vs tonight Boston Celtics

Books have handicap at -6.5 for Boston, but my opinion is that is going to be an easy win for Celtics. Noramlly, this was going to be an equal match and I would not bet on it. Everything would be possible. But, not today. With Carter very questionable (21.2 points per game) and Rose out (14.4 point per game) Toronto for me has no luck tonight againt Boston with no injury problems and playing at home. So full stakes this handicap is not big. Also, for me a little bit riskier pick:
My pick is Boston win with 10 points or more hdc -9.5 @ 2.2 Sportingbet

Good afternoon to all BA readers !!!

So far, up to (and including) Thursday 26/2 : +203 points, 5/7 picks

My pick of the day for Friday is from the English Nationwide Conference :

Dagenham & Redbridge v Hereford United................................... OVER 2.5 goals..............................1.70 at Premierbet

Statistically this is an extremely sound bet, though I must confess I would've taken the 4+ goals line available at 3.00 at Ladbrokes, if only this month's rules wouldn't come in to rob me of the extra 50 points afterwards  !!! Indeed, it was Ladbrokes' estimation that finally clinched it for me today, since they usually offer odds of roughly 3.75 for their "goal crazy" line (4 goals or more)... Here, however, the knowledgeable English bookie offers just 3.00, which after further research seems completely justified on their part ! Hereford are an Ipswich-type team in this season's Conference, having been involved in 31 games with 110 goals overall (away stats : 58 goals in 15 games, an average of 3.87 goals per game) !!! The hosts, on the other hand, have been in my "drawless" list for quite a while now (13 league games without a draw), but somehow I've always neglected to take a look at their goalscoring/receiving stats... Not bad : Dag & Red have been involved in 31 games with 89 goals overall (at home : 45 goals in 15 games, an average of 3 goals per game) ! Each of those teams have scored+conceeded a total of 21 goals in their last 5 games (over 4 goals per game), which shows that in the latter part of this season they've been really coming out "smoking" indeed... Hereford just suffered a rare 0-1 home defeat at the hands of Woking last weekend, and they usually follow such poor showings up with away goalfests, in their bid to usurp that all-important 1st place, and direct promotion, from Chester. I expect them to go for it again tonight, though Dag & Red are no walkovers. The hosts are practically safe and sound in this season's table, thus they won't say "no" to a wide-open game. It was in such a game that they recently handed Shrewsbury, a serious promotion chaser and former Div.3 team, a 5-0 defeat... The odds we got from Premierbet are not the best, but the options available in Conference games are few, therefore this is the best I could come up with. You can always take the Ladbrokes line if you feel lucky !!!

Good luck to all 8)

PICK WON (FT : 0-9 !!!!!!) Damn those new rules... Well, greed has never been my vice anyway.

In that spirit, I'm very happy to have secured a winning profit for the 3d month running ! If I can also manage to make Koffie's list for a 3d straight month, I'll be really proud...

lOZ -> Well done ... Congrats...

----------------

I could really not find a GOOD PICK.. so i'll take a risky pick..

Match; Tau Victoria v Adecco Estudiantes
Pick; Take AWAYWIN @2.50 @gb PICK LOST ; TAU WON IT !!!
Analysis; Not much difference between these teams. Important is how much they care about this match. Both teams not losing easy , so the odds present value. (+4.5) is surely better , but i took the risk and will continue it.

HARD AWAYWIN , but not adviced as my real pick of day is UNDER 7.5 for Fribourg v Langnau , but i don't wanna take odds @1.65 for the comp..

My pick of the day is

CLE Cavaliers @ ORL Magic CLEVELAND to win @ 2.19 EXPEKT
Both teams knew better times. Cleveland broke its 3 games winning streak when lost Houston on wednesday, Orlando broke its wining streak on Tuesday, when lost in overtime to Portland. Cleveland is 6th in Central division, while Orlando is at last place in Atlantic. Cleveland's record is 23-35 (last 10 4-6) while Orlando's record is 16-43 (3-7). At the moment, both teams seem out off playoff, but Cleveland is just two games behind Miami to reach the last useful place for playoffs, and this made me choose this pick!

PROBABLE STARTERS:
Cavaliers - F Carlos Boozer, F Ira Newble, C Zydrunas Ilgauskas, G James, G Jeff McInnis.
Magic - F Juwan Howard, F DeShawn Stevenson, C Stephen Hunter, G McGrady, G Tyronn Lue.

T-Mac played really bad on his last appearance, he shot 11/32 from the floor and 2/14 on 3-pointers. He has missed 39 of his last 53 shots. Le Bron James didn't play well too on last Cavaliers' appearance, but I trust in their motivation and good percentage, and in Cleveland's good defence.
Good luck to everyone!

Lucien,
just want to point out that only 10 picks is needed, according to new rules, probably you haven't read them
But, if you posted it not for the competition, it's OK with me, it might be good idea everyone who posted 10 post POD for weekend and state NOT FOR COMPETITION
That way we would have much more good picks, instead of just 5-10, which is the number of contestants remain in a competition

Well, my first bst pick of the day has been postponed, second best is taken, so I'll have to settle for something else instead that I'd usually avoid at the moment as there's no real value (in terms of 2nd BL) but time forces one to take

Alemannia Aachen - SpVgg Greuther Fürth 1 @ 1.75 Will Hill
Alemannia Aachen - SpVgg Greuther Fürth 0-0 LOST

A winning pick is always value... right?

Short reasoning:

- Aachen 4th, one point behind promotion places
- Fürth 13th, one point above relegation places
- Aachen won last away game at Aue
- Fürth disappointing with a 2-2 draw against Union, no effect of new coach Möhlmann so far
- Aachen to take revenge for 1-7 trashing in first meeting
- Aachen lost last couple of home games !! Fürth lost last 3 away, too.
- Pflipsen back for Alemannia, Mejier still injured

All in all this should be a home win, although odds must have been higher for me to take this bet in real life- for this competition it's okay as winning picks is the main goal.

My 8th pick in this month. Current stats 5/7 (+217). I take very risky bet, but i must do it if want having chances to won competition. ATP Brasil Open:

Kuerten G. vs Acasuso J., pick 2, (2.85 @ Gamebookers) / 6-4 6-3 Pick LOST :? i am ended competition on this month. Good Luck to all who has chances !!!

H2H 1-0:

2001 Clay Gustavo Kuerten 6-1 6-3

Arguments:

1. Acasuso have a good clay record in this year. He lose in Buenos Aeros only in semifinal ( 7-6(3) 7-5 with Moya).
2. Cuerten good playing in Vina del Mar, lose only in finals. But he lose in Argentina in 1st round by Ferrer 6-3 7-5 (Acasuso beat Ferrer 2-0 in next round)
3. Cuerten play in last time very unstable with many unf. errors.
3. Is a good chanse for Jose draw h2h stats and try to won 1st title in this year.

My February stats:

5/7 picks (+217 pts)

2 picks is voided and:

7.WAS Wizards (-4.5) - CHI Bulls, * pick 1 * (WON)
6.Coria G - Davydenko N., set betting *Coria won 2-0* (WON)
5.Martin VERKERK - Jarkko NIEMINEN *pick 2* (WON)
4.UTA Jazz -vs Minnesota TWolfs, Minnesota team total over 91.5 (LOSE)
3.RBC Roosendaal - RKC Waalwijk, *pick 1* (LOSE)

2.Berrer M. vs Stoliarov A. *pick 1* (WON)
1.Ulihrach B. vs Sanguinetti D, *pick 1* (WON)

CLE Cavaliers v ORL Magic +2/-2, take Orlando@2.0, Pinnacle

My best POD would have been Portland, but since Lucien was faster (even though his pick shouldn't be allowed, as it's eleventh for the month, I completely agree with his reasoning) there's another popular match looming to destroy a lot of punters' accounts tonight. I'm short on time today, so my analysis will be a brief one also.

Of course, the numbers imply an away win here, due to Orlando's dreadful season and Cleveland's hyped youngsters. Even the match-ups would seem to favor the Cavs, but be warned - the best player on court tonight will be in Magic uniform, event though McGrady hasn't been his former self lately. No matter who will guard him, his production will depend solely on his inspiration, as he's virtually unstoppable when in groove, thanks to his high release when shooting.

The Cavs have a frontcourt advantage on paper, but I think that their big players in the paint will only slow down their game, and since the Cavs do not have a point guard for set, half-court pieces, their supposed advantage will turn into an obstacle tonight. In a high-scoring venue, the Cavs have little chance and their turnovers should be very costly tonight.

Expect at least a 10-point margin in Orlando's favor.

Maybe I will ruin my chances to get to Koffie's Champions Race standings again and current good run of correct picks with this NHL lottery...but I don't care

Chicago - Columbus Home win @ 2,20 (Nordicbet)

Chicago are trying to make it 2 in a row over Columbus. 2 days ago teams played in Columbus and Chicago won 4-3.

Chicago have done some very dubious trades recently which have sent veteran center Zhamnov to Philly and best scorer Sullivan to Nashville. Couple of days ago they traded Ville Nieminen to Calgary for young Canadian winger. It's a clear trend that they want to give more responsibility for their young stars like Tuomo Ruutu, Kyle Calder, Tyler Arnason and Mark Bell. And why wouldn't they do that because Chicago have maybe the best young generation of all teams.

Considering Chicago's table position they have played pretty good at home rink(12-8-9) and things are just going to better way. Goalie situation is also under big doubt as Craig Anderson and Michael Leighton aren't NHL level duo but what can they do because real starting goalie Jochelyn Thibault is still injured. Anderson has been doing some good job between the pipes lately but tonight Leighton will probably start. From the regulars only defenceman Nathan Dempsey misses...plus the old faces who have missed almost all season already(Daze, Thibault, McCarthy, Quint)

Columbus at away this season or before that...what can you say. Very sad case. Only 3 wins away from home this season and they have gone 0-3-8 since last 3-2 away win over San Jose. Young Russian center Nikolai Zherdev will be missing due to a personal reason as well as defenders Klesla and Westcott.

Last time at here Chicago won 7-0 and this season meetings are 2-0-3. I think this is a good chance for Chicago to boost their confidence by winning this. I think Chicago's winnings changes are around 50%

Good luck because you'll need it if you follow this...and Chicago too

My 9th pick - from OHL - Canadian hockey:

Oshawa - Peterborough 1 Odds: 2,1 at Centrebet

WON 2-1

Here we have two not so good teams. Both have below averag offense and defense, still Oshawa plays at home and their form lately is much better. They won 4 straight games and finally they defeated two times in a row Peterborough lately after ending as losers earlier in the season. But they also won with Ottawa and Kingston on the road, two much better teams, so their form is really great lately. As for Peterborough, they are 0W-1D-5L in last 6 games, 4 of which played at home, and on the road they've losr to Oshawa and also to worst team from Belleville, so they are playing for nothing right now. I don't see anythinh changing tonight.

Good Luck.

Peace.

Pick number 8
Match: (+2)Indiana ***8211; New Orleans Hornets(0)
NBA

Prediction : 1
Odds: 1,952 @ Pinnacle

Indiana:
Are doing great on the road right now, they are 19-9
They has 3 wins in a row, and selfconfidence must be high.

20 Fri @ Washington W 96-87 40-15 R. Miller 24 J. Foster 13
22 Sun Utah W 94-80 41-15 J. O'Neal 21 J. O'Neal 10
24 Tue Golden State W 107-96 42-15 J. O'Neal 34 J. Foster 10

If you look at them since 27 dec., they are 21-5 !!!
Indiana has won five of their past seven games against the Hornets

Hornets:
At home they are 18-11
Has lost 2 of the last 3 games.

21 Sat @ New Jersey L 97-84 30-25 J. Mashburn 28 J. Mashburn 13
23 Mon @ Cleveland L 104-100 30-26 B. Davis 34 P. Brown 13
25 Wed L.A. Clippers W 99-93 31-26 B. Davis 26 J. Magloire 14

Why Indiana is set to +2 I don´t know, but in my eyes it***8217;s a mistake. I take Indiana +2

Default NBA

Today's pick is:

Utah (+8.5) vs. Sacramento (-8.5) 2 @ 1.91 [gamebookers]

The Sacramento Kings have the best record in the NBA right now and I think they will try to complete a season sweep of the Utah Jazz tonite.

The Kings have won five straight games against the Jazz and 12 of 13.
Peja Stojakovic had 37 points last nite against the Lakers and Mike Bibby has been averaging 27 points over his last three games. If Chris Webber comes back from suspension I think the Kings will be the "kings" and roll over everybody ...

Good luck!

If I don't take a pick today, I'll have one missing pick at the end of the month, and sure -100 for it. So, let's gamble a bit tonight with NBA- I will lose 100 points if I don't post a pick, so there is nothing to lose - I can count this as a free bet

Sonics (-5.5) - Suns  1  1.93@Pinnacle

LOST (I forgot result, but Suns won the game)... huh, bad luck... I won 4 out of 5 NBA bets last night and I have chosen the wrong pick here (well, two picks were already taken here, but I still had 67% chances to get right one )

Let's just hope that Shawn Marion won't play tonight . He sprained ankle on Wednesdays game and he had two days to recover. I'm not sure that Suns will risk him if he is not completely ok and even if he plays he may not be without hurt. Without him Suns have to made out his ~20 points per game and it won't be easy.

Sonics had a bad spell after All-Star, with only one win from the last five. I rate them as very unconsisten team, but still they are good enough to beat Suns, especially at home. They have nice shooting man in Allen, Lewis, Murray and Radmanovic, so it will be hard for Suns to stay undefeated tonight.

Sonics won 2 out of 3 games played against Suns this year, and home game they won with 26 points difference. Tonight I hope only for 6 points gap .

Good luck!

Lucien,
just want to point out that only 10 picks is needed, according to new rules, probably you haven't read them
But, if you posted it not for the competition, it's OK with me, it might be good idea everyone who posted 10 post POD for weekend and state NOT FOR COMPETITION
That way we would have much more good picks, instead of just 5-10, which is the number of contestants remain in a competition
I was reading the rules :-)) and I knew that pick is only additional and it shouldn´t count to competiton. But this section is Pick of the day and if I have a good pick of the day, so way not to write its here, isn´t it? :-))
