Pick 7 (February)
Vidima-Rakovski Sevlievo - Levski Sofia
Bulgarian League
 Vidima-Rakovski at home against similar to Levski opponents this season:
-Vidima 0-1 CSKA
-Vidima 0-2 Litex
 Levski away against similar to Vidima-Rakovski opponents this season:
-Chernomorets 1-2 Levski
-Spartak Varna 0-2 Levski
-Belasitsa Petrich 0-1 Levski
-Makedonska Slava 1-2 Levski
 First meeting this season:
-Levski won at ease 2-0
 Some stats. Last 6 matches of the teams:
-Vidima is 2-1-3 in their last 6. But the 2 wins came against Botev(0-0-8 away) and Belasitsa(0-1-7 away)
-After the draw against the champion CSKA, Levski made 5 consecutive wins (with g.d. 13-2)
 Comments on the current match:
This year Levski celebrates the 90-anniversary of the club. All in the team have the motivation and the spirit to win the championship. After some hesitations in the beginning of the season, Levski changed the coach and gain more confidence.
Octopus's tentacles are long. For Vidima this match won't be a life-and-death struggle. They probably will not want to make angry the beast and will not fight very hard.
Next week Levski have their match-of-the-year. They will play on Anfield the first leg of the UEFA-cup clash against Liverpool. Whole winter preparation was aimed for this match. Levski made some good results in friendly games against good opponents.
Levski can't permit hesitationin and worries in their last match before those with Liverpool.
I expekt this will be calm game and Levski will win easily.
Take: Levski to win Halftime/Fulltime @ 2.20 (Betandwin)
******************
What happened:
Yes, Levski trashed Vidima 3-0, but all goals were scored in the second half. Away team had some good chances in the first half, but did't managed to score. My bet lost and my hopes for good position almost died.
btw I opened POD topics 2 times this month. And both my bets then lost. And both bets were ht/ft. And both times I guessed right the final result, but on the ht the things weren't good.
Some bad luck for me. But I will still try to finish with good result and provide good picks.
Lost

So far this month:
Number of picks: 7
Correct: 4
Balance: +112.5

My today pick is from NBA
DETROIT PISTONS : MINNESOTA TIMBERWOLVES 2
I will play it at my local bookie for 2,26(It's a complet misunderstood because they should be favourite).
Detroit is in bad form in last few games and Minnesota is one of the best abroad teams in NBA.Despite this fact they will play in their best squad(for the first time this season)they will try to show what their worth is. Minnesota is taking their best season in history,so I think they will not upset me this time.
GOOD LUCK
Please read the rules of this competition... you can use only certain bookies for this competition... so this pick isnŽt valid.

Hi,
IŽve another tennis pick for you...
Xavier Malisse - Joachim Johansson
PICK WON - Johansson 64 75
JOHANSSON is rising tennis star with great serve and good and agressive play. He fired 17 aces in his last match against BLAKE, who was able to make only 9 points by Johansson serve. So he served pretty well and it should be key in todayŽs match too...
MALISSE defeated SAULNIER yesterday, but I expekt more difficult match for him today...
I recommend you a stake on JOHANSSON to win, but in this competition IŽll take JOHANSSON 2:0 in sets... but maybe IŽll change this pick before the match...
PICK: Johansson 2:0 in sets
ODDS: 2.60
BOOKIE: Gamebookers
My February stats after this pick: +534 (7 of 9 picks)
Quote:
Kohlmann vs. Fyrstenberg WON (+133)
Novak vs. Nadal WON (+65)
Ramirez-Hidalgo vs. Behrend WON (+53)
Levy vs. Cermak LOST (-100)
Schiavone vs. Safina WON (+118)
T.Johansson vs. Ancic WON (+135)
Ancic vs. Dupuis LOST (-100)
Liberec vs. Vsetin WON (+80)

Beira Mar-Sporting Braga+0.5 @1.95 Pinnacle
PICK WON - 0:2 Tomor
I rate these two as a teams of similar quality, so Braga not to lose for almost double money looks fine. Last season both teams were fought to survive, this season both fighting for Uefa spot, with same number of points so far. In first part Beira Mar won 2:0 away, and this is time for revenge. It's never happened in their recent previous meetings that one team made a double. Coach and President of the hosts demands victory at any costs, and thats what I like. Pressure! President have also said that some players sleeping and don't deserve to play for Beira Mar. More pressure!
They will be without second-best scorer Petrolina (5 goals), who is not involved by coach decision. Only missing for Braga, midfielder Bulgarian Nikolov.
Good Luck!

Rugby Super 12
Otago Highlanders v Queensland Reds + 8.5 H * 1.90 * Gamebookers
WON Highlanders 39 - Queensland Reds 8 Full Time
+90
Southern Hemisphere biggest Rugby Union Competition Super 12 kicks off. In Rugby favourites often does what expected to do:win , and minors as well: go down.Super 12 rugby competition teams come from AUS , SA and NZ. Those 5 teams from NZ usually finish top 5 spot except the Chiefs. I think that says it all.
Last year Super 12 table:
Place - Played - PD - Points
1 Auckland Blues 11 208 49
2 Canterbury Crusaders 11 95 40
3 Wellington Hurricanes 11 40 35
4 ACT Brumbies 11 45 31
5 NSW Waratahs 11 -24 31
6 Northern Transvaal Bulls 11 -34 30
7 Otago Highlanders 11 41 29
8 Queensland Reds 11 -37 26
9 Western Province Stormers 11 -99 23
10 Waikato Chiefs 11 -31 18
11 Natal Sharks 11 -65 17
12 Transvaal Cats 11 -139 13
Well they finished close, but look at the goal difference + 41 reverse -37 !
Last game last year

The Queensland Reds missed out on a semi-final place after they were beaten 40-26 by the Highlanders in the winner-take-all match at Carisbrook on Saturday.
|
today somethig similar could happen as preparation game last year semi-finalist:
14.02.2004 Hurricanes 28 - Highlanders 27 Halftime: Highlanders 15-3.
05.02.2004 The Highlanders beat the Chiefs 61-31
8.5 points about right as teams aim to beat 7 points difference for bonus points...

Hello
First pick of the day:
QPR Peterborough H/H (1.80 @ www.willhill.com)
PICK LOST (D/D) Tomor
First game from England 2 Division this week. QPR one of the best teams in Division 2 (best home record in the division 12-3-0) playing against team from the lower table. There is a lot of difference in quality among those 2 teams witch doesnt mean that Peterborough will give up easily but on Loftus Road, with amassing goal difference 34-6 it will be festival of goals.
Stats last 6 matches:
- QPR has 6 win in a row at Loftus Road
- Peterborough has 1 draw, 4 lost and 1 win away
Head 2 head (at Loftus Road):
- season 2001/2002 1-0
- season 2002/2003 2-0
Last match played 18.10.2003 Peterborough QPR 0-0
Somewhere I read: Statistics are like bikini, they reveal much but show nothing. QPR must win this game if they want to stay on position 3 in the league because Bristol City (against Wrexam) and Plymouth (against Port Vale) also play at home and they are expected to win also, so motivation will be bigger.

2nd pick- lost play number 1 yesterday
Amro World Tennis Tournament
Raemon Sluiter to beat J.C Fererro
2.65 (if it cashes i take 2.50) @Pinnacle
PICK LOST - Ferrero 16 64 76 Tomor
The Dutchman was too good for his countryman Schalken yesterday and there is a good chance he will test the struggling Ferrero today. The Spaniard has struggled to get past Van Scheppingen and Van Lottom and given Sluiter's indoor form, this will surely test him to the limit. With Sluiter being a home town guy, was a finalist here last year, and is playing solid tennis, I will back him here and see if he can pull off the upset

Haarlem - Sparta(-0,5) 2 @ 2,1(Pinnacle)
PICK LOST - Haarlem 4:3 Tomor
===========================================
1. FC_Den_Bosch 23 14 4 5 55 - 30 46
-------------------------------------------------------
2. Helmond 21 13 5 3 44 - 22 44
3. Excelsior 22 13 4 5 39 - 24 43
4. Sparta 22 13 3 6 50 - 25 42
Sparta are 4th with 42 points(only four points after first Den Bosch).Sparta last six matches - 3 wins 1 draw and 2 losses.Last match Sparta make draw(2:2) with the first Den Bosch.Sparta have 50 goals this season(Only Den Bosh have 55).Like aways Sparta have only 3 losses - 1st from Den Bosch on 22 Aug. 2003 ;2nd from Exelsior and 3rd -from the 7th in table Graafschap.
Haarlem are 14th with 22 points.At home Haarlem scored only 11 goals and conceded 11 . 11 goals for 22 matches - this is 1 goal every 2nd match.Last 6 matches Haarlem have 2 wins and 4 losses.The two wins were against Maastricht(18 ) with 2:0 and against Graafschap(7) with 1:0.
First match this season was:
Sparta - Haarlem 3:0
Last meetings:
Oct 25, 2002 Haarlem - Sparta 1:1
Apr 6, 2003 Sparta - Haarlem 4:1
I think after the draw against first in table,Sparta will win over the team with the weak ataking.

Sorry all about publishing my pick 3min before 00:00. Seems my watch was showing 10min later on.
Adding one new fact supporting my pick:
 Vidima will be without 2 key defenders.

My 6th pick. WTA Proximus Diamond Games:
Silvia Farina Elia vs Patty Schnyder, set betting pick * Farina won 2-0 * (3.10 @ Gamebookers) / 7-6 1-0 ret. pick WON   !!!
IŽm afraid but this PICK will be VOID because of Schnyder retirement (see GB terms and rules). Tomor
H2H 2-4:
Gold Coast Jan 7 2001 S Farina Elia - P Schnyder(2) 6-7 6-2 6-4
Sopot July 23 2000 P Schnyder(4) - S Farina Elia 4-6 6-2 6-2
Ph'delphia Nov 15 1998 P Schnyder(7) - S Farina Elia-WC 7-6 4-6 6-4
Zurich Oct 18 1998 P Schnyder(5) - S Farina Elia 6-2 6-3
Roland Garros June 7 1998 P Schnyder - S Farina Elia 6-2 6-1
Zurich Oct 20 1996 S Farina Elia-Q - P Schnyder-WC 5-7 6-4 7-6
Arguments:
1. Dont see on H2H, last game was in far 2001 year and Farina won this game.
2. Way on this tournament:
Round 1:
Silvia Farina Elia - Maria Sanchez Lorenzo 6-3 6-0
P Schnyder - bye
Round 2:
Silvia Farina Elia - Els Callens 6-3 2-6 6-1
P Schnyder - Julia Vakulenko 6-7 6-4 7-5
3. I see last match of Schnyder, she was injured and show very hard win with poor Vakulenko. Farina is on the way at the moment and have graet form in this year. She lose 2nd set with Callens, but Belgian dont have any chases to won.
I think at injuried schnyder there are not enough forces on struggle in this match, clear win of Farina there.
My February stats:
3/5 picks (+21 pts)
5.Martin VERKERK - Jarkko NIEMINEN *pick 2* (WON)
4.UTA Jazz -vs Minnesota TWolfs, Minnesota team total over 91.5 (LOSE)
3.RBC Roosendaal - RKC Waalwijk, *pick 1* (LOSE)
2.Berrer M. vs Stoliarov A. *pick 1* (WON)
1.Ulihrach B. vs Sanguinetti D, *pick 1* (WON)

Friday, my bets lately has been **** so you're following me at your own peril but fortunes will turn eventually (except for all of us still looking for Perugia's first win)
I'm sticking with trotting again for today, mid-day races from Romme.
Knockout Victory to place (1-3) @1,90 with Unibet Bet lost, got the outside track all along on a mudday course and didn't have the strenght to challenge in the final 400 m. Looks like I'm heading for my first losing month of this competiton. Perhaps I should have taken Boltic this evening instead?
I know it's a slim call as this is (I think) the only bookie that offers, but it's Friday and I'm all out of ideas.
Anyway Knockput Victory has shown good form recently and made a close brush with a personal best in his latest race, very good finish then and he will need that today from track 8, still starting position could have been worse. I'm backing him for a strong finish to end up top 3.
1,90 is quite decent price too, but bet closes soon, so grab it quickly.

Hello! I'm surprised that no one has yet taken the Monaco bet! I think they destroy Montpellier tonight, and I found a nice bet at PointBet:
Monaco - Montpellier AH (+1 1/2) 2,075 Pointbet
Well Monaco is for me the best team in the french league and they are certainly one of the main candidates for the title! They are currently in average form and they lost their last match against Lille (BTW that made me happy, cause Acimovic (slovenian player) is now there and they have not lost since his arrival) 0:1 and now the differnece at the top dropped to only 4 points from Lyon on 2nd place. Well I think they'll win with a 2 goal margin at least, so maybe over is a good possibillity to! Their home record is very good 8-3-1 with 22:6 goal difference. On the other hand we have Montepllier who has lost 9 of last 10 games and is all the way down in the relegation one. Their away record is 2-2-8 and the goal difference is 12:28. So IMO Monaco, though not in brilliant form, are a few classes above their opponent and they'll show that on the pitch, cause they have to get back on winning tracks if they want to win the Championships!
Good luck!
WON!!! 4:0! Very easy, beautiful!

Monaco - Montpellier 1-1(HT-FT) @1.75 Gamebookers
Miiho has already taken pick on Monaco, so this pick isnŽt valid. Tomor
I'll be back soon.
After edit:
Monaco
 Monaco home record 8-3-1
 3 games without win at home(one defeat against Lille 8O , and two draws)
 Giuly is still missing
 Monaco HT-FT at home:
1-1 - 6 games
X-1 - 2 games
other HT-FT's - one time
Montpellier
 Montpellier away record: 2-2-8
 Montpellier 10 games without win(last 3=defeat)
 Montpellier HT-FT away:
1-1 - 5 games
X-1 - 2 games
other HT-FT's - one time
h2h: 7-3-0(3-2-0) 18:7
There is nothing much to say about this game. Monaco is clear favourite and IMO 1 @1.35 is clear banker.

Hi after a needed break of terrible picks (more on personal life though) I return with a pick that I am confident about the final result. It is tennis pick
Roger Federer to beat Tim Henman (+2,5 games) @ 1.80 @ Nordicbet
PICK LOST - Henman 63 76 Tomor
I know that the odds are not very attractive but so is the style of Tim Henman. It is more a bet of disliking Henman than being a fan of Federer. In any case Federer has a huge unbeatable streak and I can see him cruising to the semis with an opponent like Henman. I wouldn't suggest to people to follow my picks because lately I have lost confidence (anything I bet is lost ). I needed a brake that I took and now I return feeling lucky. That's it.
I forgot to write that it is +2.5 games so I edited the post

My pick of the day is Chladkova - Sprem 0:2 1.65 Gamebookers
Stake 10/10
PICK WON - Sprem 64 63 but you should write more arguments next time. Tomor
I think that young Sprem is really risin in her game from match to match.
And she won't miss a chance to get to the semi final on this tournament. Chladkova can be really lucky that she has come this far. Her luck will stop here in the 1/4. Sprem is few classes better player.
I think that Maleeva has more chances to beat Clijsters that Chladkova against Sprem. For me A banker of the week!

I think mods should decide if it is ok to change already published pick. Also, writing first only picks and later explanations (and bookie and odds) - is this allowed too and if yes - is there a time limit for fulfilling posts?

IŽll not change this pick, but IMO thereŽs no problem in changing pick in time - one hour before start of both matches... Do you see a problem here??

I just used my calculator to find out, that I am still able to join the competition. 8) 8) 8)
My first pick of the day is from German Handball Bundesliga:
Kronau-Oestritz vs Hamburger SV over 52.5 @1.85 Centrebet
PICK LOST - 22:26 Tomor
In my opinion, this total line is much too low, cause Kronau is not that defensive playing side. I think a line like 55.5 would be more realistic, so there is big value in this low line.
Cheerio.

I don't think it's a good idea that changing picks is allowed, as if everyone would start changing, competition would be funny and of no help
Changing in order of finding better odds is OK, though...
(although my pick the other day was disallowed cause I didn't do it on time - IMO to hursh, they should just count those lower odds...)

My 5th POD pick - from NHL (1X2 pick):
Anaheim - Nashville 1 Odds: 2,2 at Centrebet
PICK LOST - 2:2 Tomor
Anaheim is playing greatly after All-star break. They won 5 consecutive home games and 5 of last 6 overall. Finally they started playing like in last season, when they were going to the Finals. Still they have some imjuries, but they are 8 points from the play-off spot and now will play with 8th team in the conference - Nashville. So You know win here will be really crucial to their playoff hopes.
As for Nashville, they won last game convincingly 7-3 with San Jose thanks to great execution in power play and their new forward who scored three times. But they have also 7 losses in last 10 away games, and their production there, especially in defense, is below average. Also they will have problems scoring goals here, as Giguere, Anaheim's goaltender, is really in great form recently having stopped 133 of last 141 shots!!!
So in this crucial game I'm with in-form Anaheim, who should close gap to the playoff spot a little bit more here.
Good Luck.
Peace.

Changing in order of finding better odds is OK, though...
(although my pick the other day was disallowed cause I didn't do it on time - IMO to hursh, they should just count those lower odds...)

OK guys, IŽm very sorry for this... but I DIDNŽT CHANGE my pick... :!: I only said that maybe IŽll change it... so IMO nothing happend... and IŽll be more careful next time...
But if I broke the rules of this competiton (IMO not) IŽm ready to bear responsibility and consequences...

I think mods should decide if it is ok to change already published pick. Also, writing first only picks and later explanations (and bookie and odds) - is this allowed too and if yes - is there a time limit for fulfilling posts?

Hi Lyd,
IŽll not change this pick, but IMO thereŽs no problem in changing pick in time - one hour before start of both matches... Do you see a problem here??
|
Maybe someone wanted to take your first pick and he had to switch to something else. Then you leave that pick and take something else. Then he can leave his "substitution"-pick and take your first... In my opinion, that may bring a confusion in the thread. But, it's not on me to decide, that's just my opinion. That's why I said mods should think about it and to say what is the rule there.

Hey, Tomor, my post was not against you. I just wanted to make things straight and clear. Those things are not regulated by the rules so far

My POD is for danish ice hockey :
Sonderjylland v Herning Blue Fox away win 1.70 @t gamebookers.com
PICK WON - 2:4 Tomor
After the great upset of the 1st match of the playoff (Sonderjylland won on extra-time at Herning), the number 1 favourites must take this game in order to draw the series... I mean, the 1st match was huge upset, and I cannot believe, that Herning will loose 2 times in a row against the weakest team in the playoffs.

American Hockey
PICK LOST - Dallas 5:1 Tomor
I dont know, but I would feel stupid if I didnt take Colorado tonight. Yes they may be playing the 2nd-half hot Dallas Stars on the road and maybe Dallas defence is among the best in the league and maybe Stars home record is quite impressive at 16-6-6 but yet, its the Colorado avalanche youre putting your money on. Colorado is now in the second place in the western conference, 1 point behind the Red Wings and first in the Northwest division, 4 points ahead of the Canucks. They have the 2nd best power play in the league behind Ottawa and are 7-0-2-1 in their last 10 road games. The Avalanche have also won all three meetings with the Stars so far outscoring them 11-3. How can I not take a team that has lost only 3 games in regulation (!!) on the road at this kind of odds. You tell me :P

I agree!
Plus, I would not allow "reservations" of the picks in advance in fear, someone could take it.. it is not fair toward others.
The pick should be made in one piece, without later editing!
