Not following well this league, but need small preparation on new season for my newspaper, and started to attentive Genk last month when they took easy 4:0 win in friendly game against Olympiakos, find that they won game by game with big different line-up, in this summer, they sold defence leader Omar Colley to Sampdoria, striker Siebe Schrijvers joined Club Brugge, on loan midfielder Clinton Mata back to Charleroi......but they spent even more money for expansion, most attention was brought Oostende top scorer Zinho Gano, also spent around 10 millions eur for multiple potentiality youth players, like Ghana national team midfielder Joseph Paintsil, Colombian center back Jhon LucumÃ, Romania U21 all-round defender Vladimir Screciu and Poland tall midfielder Jakub Piotrowski, obvious promote younger staff and strengthen the manpower.
The results of Genk in new season is really crazy, included friendly and official games, they won all 10 games by at least 2 goals different, totally scored 50 goals and only conceded 6, of course some of their friendly opponents are weak, but their form is simply shining and stabilizing. they are already played 3 official games (first league games and 2 Europa League games against Fola) right now, all won easy, of course Fola is weak, but Genk used almost totally different starting line-up in 2 legs, show that they are even have more than enough ability in hand.
44 years old former Belgium national defender Philippe Clement just became their head coach last winter, we can see the whole team is improving day by day, will not surprise this young team can win something this season.
On the other hands, Sint-Truiden become weaken this season, because many on load players contract expires, importance striker Igor Vetokele back to Charlton, England U21 striker Chuba Akpom back to Arsenal, Greece U21 defender Dimitrios Goutas back to Olympiacos and importance midfielder Charilaos Charisis back to PAOK. Even they got Japan national team defender Wataru Endo from Urawa Red Diamonds, but the team formation really need time for rebuild, their first league game against Cercle Bruges at home is disappointed, the new comer even was the better team in the game, and Sint-Truiden always weak in away games, I can`t see they can become the first team to stop Genk in new season here.
Of course I will happy to hear our Belgian league expert`s opinion, before that, I see a nice home win.
