Porto are definitely the favorites, as they are every year. Still, if you see the transfer market, Benfica got some excelent players, so they're a big threat. They have a problem of having a new team and needing time. On the other hand, Sporting Lisbon just won the supercup 2-0 against Porto and they also have an amazing team this year.

So if you're betting on porto to win the championship, the odds are on your side but be sure to bet with good value, or it won't be a good play, since this year it starts much more leveled than the year before. Also, Porto's coach sucks big time!

Now, can anyone update this thread??? these transfers are REALLY OLD! Benfica just got Reyes and Aimar, Sporting landed Rochemback... come on! this deserves an update!

Atleast half of main league teams have allready changed coaches for next season.

Coach changes for the 2014/2015 season, so far :

- Sporting hired coach Marco Silva (ex.Estoril Praia) after the departure of Leonardo Jardim to Monaco.

- FC Porto hired basque coach Julen Lopetegui and interim coach Luis Castro returned to B team.

- Estoril Praia hired José Couceiro (ex.Vitoria FC) after the departure of Marco Silva to Sporting.

- Marítimo hired Leonel Pontes (former Paulo Bento assistant) after the departure of Pedro Martins to Rio Ave.

- Vitoria FC hired Domingos (ex. Kayserisport).

- Academica waits election results to hire a new man after the departure of Sergio Conceição to Braga.

- Braga hired Sergio Conceição (ex. Academica) after dismissing Jorge Paixão.

- Rio Ave hired Pedro Martins (ex. Marítimo) while Nuno Espírito Santo's destiny remains uncertain.

- Belenenses and Lito Vidigal still haven't reached an agreement. The next three days will see some developments.

- In Paços de Ferreira is almost certain that Jorge Costa won't stay. The club survived the play-off against Aves but after that the president resigned.

- Moreirense, that returns to main league, also hired a new coach: Miguel Leal (ex.Penafiel, the other team that was promoted).

- Penafiel hired Ricardo Chéu (ex. Academico de Viseu).

- Academica recently re-elected president picked Paulo Sergio former Paços de Ferreira, Sporting and recently a scottish team i can't remember now, for the role of main coach for next season.

- Belenenses also granted the continuity of Lito Vidigal.

- Paulo Fonseca returns to Paços de Ferreira after a troubled season with Fc Porto.

Court decision to reintegrate Boavista in the main league after the corruption scandal (known as "the final whistle") that sent them to second league in 2008. Years of appeals and now they're back...
Their aim is to escape falling into second league but it's still not known the quality of the reinforcements they made. A slight advantage for them in home games : they play in an artificial pitch!

As for the title contenders they are the usual "big three" (Benfica, Porto and Sporting) to which i would add Sporting de Braga.

Is there anything related with UEFA in decision of relegating Boavista to 2nd league?

Quote from WIKI:

"For the season 2014/2015, as well as determined to receive indemnification from the Portuguese Federation of Football (FPF), for the years passed in lower divisions due to a illegitimate federation decision in 2008."

Is it true? Do they want an indemnification? Did they take action against the Portugal FF? Additionally, did they apply to CAS in this period of 6 years?

It seems Boavista chairman Valentin Loureiro was and his son were jailed after the investigation. Did they escape without being jailed or entered prison? What was the role of Joao Loureiro in this investigation? Did he had a role on the board? I see he is the current chairman of Boavista at the moment.

Finally, how Porto escaped without being relegated? Only because they are a big club? Thanks in advance.

There was nobody in jail because of this process. Jail in our country is only for those that still one bread in the supermarket. Those who rob a million (i really think the verb rob is misused when we in this context!) can stay at home and wait patiently (usually for the process to prescribe).

Of course they want a huge sum of money since a court determined they were wrongly punished. Now it's the son of the Major that leads the club (some say the smell of fresh money made his love for the club speak higher!!!). All in all, we're talking about one of the biggest shameless scum bags that has ever crossed a football team : all these years in which Boavista was competing with amateurs he never showed up but now, with the prospect of a big sum of money entering the clubs safe, he decided to show up. The worse thing is that the Club fans elected him...

President of FC Porto has big influences in the country (especially in the north) and even in justice departments. His ex-wife wrote a book in which she revealed how he was warned by someone from a Court in Porto that there was a warrant and how he and she travelled to the north of Spain on the night before.

FC Porto is the first of the "big three" to present themselves to their fans. The signings they made so far, and the poor season last year make them, for me, the main candidates to the title. Julen Lopetegui, with no experience in coaching clubs, said he wanted to win everything this year. Here are the 30 players being presented and their numbers :

1- Helton gk
2- Danilo
3- Martins Indi
4- Maicon
6- Casemiro
7- Quaresma cap.
8- Brahimi
9- Jackson Martínez
10- Quintero
11- Tello
12- Fabiano gk
13- Reyes
15- Evandro
16- Herrera
18- Adrián López
19- Sami
20- Carlos Eduardo
21- Ricardo Pereira
24- Ricardo Nunes gk
26- Alex Sandro
28- Kelvin
30- Óliver Torres
35- Defour
36- Ruben Neves - 17yrs old
39- Gonçalo Paciência - from B team.
40- Kadú gk - from B team.
43- Lichnovsky - from B team.
44- Opare
50- Victor Garcia - from B team.
77- Joris Kayembe - from B team.

Josué, Licá, Ghilas (pointed to Braga), Abdoulaye and Varela(??!) were absent.

Mangala and Fernando (both transferred to Man City) are the main sales of the team.

One of the biggest uncertainties of next season will be how a team made of amateurs suddenly is pulled to main league. Despite its past, and the fact that Boavista is one of the teams that achieved the title (the other is Belenenses), outside the "power trio" (Benfica, Porto and Sporting), it'll be interesting to see how a "re-born" team will do. For now, the objective is to stay among the top 18 and these are the players that will try to make the dream come true :

GK Mika (Atletico), Daniel Monllor (Nuevo Chicago), Mamadou Ba (Oliveirense)

DF : João Dias (Academica) , Lucas Silva (Kaposvar), Fábio Ervões (Penafiel), Anderson Correia (S.Paulo), Beckeles (Olimpia - Honduras), Philipe Sampaio (Paulista), Pedro Costa, Carlos Santos, Afonso Figueiredo

MID : Fábio Lopes (Famalicão), Diego Lima (Atlético), Tengarrinha (Chaves), Anderson Carvalho (Santos), Idris (Moreirense), Ancelmo Junior (Bragantino), Lamine Yoro (Shirak), Carraça, Luis Neves, Miguel Cid, Diogo Gouveia

FOR : Brito (Gil Vicente), Wei Shihao, Fary, Wellington Cris, Ryan Hirooka, Bobô, Theo Mendy, Julian Montenegro, Zé Manuel

Under the supervision of former portuguese competitive defender Petit, 13 portuguese, 8 brasilians, 5 senegalese, 2 argentinians, 1 from Cape Verde, 1 from China, 1 from Japan and 1 from Honduras will try to set Boavista again as a main reference in portuguese football.

Any preview of the Benfica team? They seems to be bad, at least during the Emirates tournament.
