Default A-League - 17-19 Feb. 17

Adelaide vs Newcastle Jets

Adelaide are in a slump of form and today they face a team that is on the rise.
The Jets have been doing well in the past few weeks, with 2 wins and 2 draws in their last 6 games, which saw them climb up the ladder to 6th position, which is in play-offs.

Last round they drew 0-0 with Melbourne Victory, but they could have won it too.
With Nabbout and Hoole clicking, they are now more and more dangerous in front of the goal.

After last week's 0-5 home defeat to Perth, it is hard to see Adelaide winning this one.

Bet: Jets +0.25 @1.79

Some heavy odds drop on jets now @2.70,seems straightforward even tho adelaide are reigning champions ,i think its mostly bkoz that bookies give their opponents generous odds ,betting against them proved succesfull as adelaide now is rock bottom and just cant win any game

What about Melbourne city victory? They are counting again on 7 first team players after suspension while Wellington will miss experienced duo Durante and Finkler. AW?

Also in Syndey derby clear advantage for away win again.

Wellington Phoenix vs Melbourne City

Phoenix are without two key players for today's match, Finkler and Durante.
City are welcoming back 6 of their star players, but will still be without their first choice goalkeeper, who is suspended.
However, Sorensen made quite a few crucial saves in the match against Roar, and he was selected in the Team of the Week.

Despite City being able to field a full strength team, I just cannot trust them anymore.
With the same full strength team, they haven't won a game away from home in 7 (seven) matches, losing 4 times. They even lost to rock bottom Adelaide, AFTER the departures of the two main strikers, Guardiola and Henrique from Adelaide.
City also lost to Newcastle Jets and snatched a last minute draw from a penalty kick from Central Coast Mariners.

One pattern I noticed however, and that is in City's matches both teams score.

Phoenix are scoring their fair share of goals too, and they have both Krishna and Smeltz, while Barbarouses should add an extra spark playing against his former cross city rivals.

Both teams have plenty to play for, so I'm going for goals.

Bet 1: Over 2.5 goals and BTTS Yes @1.83
Bet 2: Over 2.75 goals @1.80

WS Wanderers vs Sydney

Sydney are in great form, they are the most consistent team in the league, they have been so all season.
The best defence, 9 goals, and best attack, 41 goals in 19 matches, 14 wins and 5 draws.

The Wanderers have been disappointing and inconsistent this season. After they won away 3-1 in Wellington two weeks ago, they lost 0-2 to the lowly Mariners in a home match last week.
For this big derby they will have a big hole to fill in the midfield, as Dimas is out suspended.
At the beginning of the season, on the same stadium, Sydney won 4-0.

Difficult to see other than a Sydney win in these circumstances.

A last minute note, the weather is going to be wet, and it has already rained and we had a hailstorm too, so I am not venturing too deep into this match.

Bet 1: Sydney -0.25 @1.81
Bet 2: Number of goals 2 or 3 @2.00

I just use my normal size stake every time.
One exception is in the Sydney match because of the bad weather.
That's why I said I wasn't going to venture too deep into it, because there has been rain and hail, and more bad weather is forecast.
So small stakes in Sydney match.

Perth Glory vs Brisbane Roar

Perth are in great form right now, coming from a 5-0 win away in Adelaide, with a prolific attack with two prongs, Keogh and Taggart, and many avenues towards the opposition goal.
Their defence is generous as well, although they did manage a clean sheet at Adelaide last round.
Brisbane are in good form too, and they are doing very well in Asia Champions League.

Most of the matches that Perth played at home this season ended with at least 3 goals.
Last three matches in Perth between these two teams saw minimum 4 goals, including a 6-3 one year ago.

Both teams are chasing the third spot on the ladder and give the class of the midfielders and attackers in both teams, we should see goals.

Bet 1: Team Total Perth Over 1.5 goals @1.83
Bet 2: Over 3.25 goals @2.29

Took over 2.5 for combo. Slow start, hope for more offensive 2nd half.

CC Mariners vs Melbourne Victory

Mariners are without their captain Montgomery, but they got back Faty.

They are now on a hot winning streak, with 3 wins in a row and O'Donovan in hot form, scoring 2 last time out, within 2 goals from the leading goalscorer.

Victory are trying to come out of a rough patch, as they had 3 defeats in a row and last week disappointed us in a lacklustre 0-0 at the Jets.

Victory will want to try and take advantage of Sydney's loss last night and close the gap at the top, but now the Mariners can sniff the top 6 for a play-off spot, and they want to get in there too.

Bet 1: CCM Team Total Over 1 goal @2.14
Bet 2: Over 3 goals @1.84
Bet 3: Over 2.5 goals and BTTS Yes @1.83
Bet 4: CCM +1 (AH) @2.02 (alternatively +1.25 @1.75)

Taraves and Faty won't play for CCM anymore. Both will be released after this season.
