Wuppertal - Essen (RL West; Wed, 11.04.18, 19:30)
Traditional West-derby. - WSV is coming off a very disappointing, poor performance vs Erndtebrück (0:4). It was the worst game under coach Britscho so far. In general, results got worse since successful Vollmerhausen was fired (because he flirted with other club), but Wuppertal was a bit unlucky in some of the games, eg could've won at Wegberg and vs Aachen. The mostly lowscoring 2018 results are somewhat misleading btw; chances for more goals have been there. Keyplayers Schmetz (cdf) and captain Manno (omf) are still missing. - RWE just changed the coach for a second time in 17/18. Giannikis resigned last weekend after the 1:2 defeat vs Rödinghausen. He did not resign because of the defeat or poor results, but because of getting insulted and offended a lot by own fans in last weeks after he announced to leave the club at seasonend. Now Neitzel is in charge, who just got sacked at Elversberg a month ago... Bednarski (lmf) and captain Baier (cmf) are still doubtful. - Both teams are pretty much safe in lower table midfield. And both teams will surely be motivated to bounce back from losing in last round and get the derby win for the fans. Usually tons of supporters attend this matchup (up to 13.000 in last years - in 4th division!), but today "only" ca 6.000 are expected because there's not much to play for in current table situation. I expect RWE to be boosted by new coach Neitzel, who is a rather offensive-minded coach. His debut should definitely push the team (+ fans) to have a successful evening; and then hosts should get their chances as well. (h2h for Wuppertal homegames vs Essen = 4x over 3,5 in last 5).
