have you checked the disc somewhere else using other dvd drive? even if it's new maybe it's disc's fault.

I can hear that it tries very hard to read it, but after about 5 minutes it just gives up and I get a message that there is no disc in the drive...
It works on my girlfriend's computer so the disc is fine
It's really anyoing when I know that deep down, it still can read discs... It just won't read this one

Thanks dj, I have vista and it says that all drivers are up to date. Guess I have to get a new dvd rom then.. Damn crap quality on things nowadays, if it lasts over a year it's a miracle
Yes, anno1404 didnt work either, yet other new discs did. Strange. And FM 08 works, ah well, I could always play that instead, was really in the mood for FM now

I know that for FM09 worked the trick to download the steam http://store.steampowered.com/about/
then register, when you've done that login, and click Activate a product on steam. When you've done that, get your serial number from your FM2009 manual and enter it in there. And it'll download FM game so you' won't need the DVD.
However I have no idea if it works for FM 2010.

Hmm, sounds logical I guess. Don't know anything about SATA, but I've had this laptop for about 2 years now so probaly, it's antique...
More protections.. man, they're getting awfully paranoid, aren't they? And the consumers suffer because of it...
I'll check out that steam thing, thanks a lot for your replies

and next to its name you should have info if its SATA (the older ones) or ATA (newer), for example:
TSSTcorp_CDDVDW_SH-S223F ATA Device
And yes,in last years almost all big developers became pretty paranoid and include insane protections (f.e. allowing you to install game only three times, even if you had to format HD, or install new Windows). But they are inconvenient only for the 'good people', as pirates crack their protections easily anyway..
Anyway good luck with steam, because FM 10 is worth every penny you spent on it, especially if you're gonna play it online.

Are any patches/updates automatically installed now, or do I have to download those too?
