Morning!

Round 26 in the German Bundesliga kick-offs on Friday night, 9 March 2018, when relegation contenders Mainz 05 will try to put an end of Schalke 04's winning streak. The Royal Blues travel to Mainz having three consecutive victories and four in the last 5 matches in all competitions, while hosts are unbeaten in 3 Bundesliga rounds. Besides, Schalke have won the last three encounters with Mainz 05, keeping a clean sheet in each of them.

Mainz 05 will take on Schalke inspired by some positive results in the last few weeks, beginning with a 2-0 away win to Hertha Berlin, followed by two draws against other two relegation pretenders: 1-1 vs Wolfsburg (home), 0-0 vs HSV (away).
Leon Balogun will miss the clash with Schalke 04 due to suspension, so Jean-Philippe Gbamin can start within the centre-back trio and Nigel de Jong looks favourite to take his defensive midfield position. Alexander Hack can be another centre-back option if Sandro Schwarz decides to maintain the same midfield formation with Gbamin, Danny Latza and Suat Serdar. Meanwhile, goalkeeper Robin Zentner is still injured, while his colleague Rene Adler and Danish forward Emil Berggreen are both doubtful, so Florian Muller (third goalkeeper) may have another chance to start between the sticks. Muller was the MotM against HSV last round, as he saved Filip Kostic's penalty and youngster generally did well in the game.

Inspired by three wins in a row (2-1 vs Hoffenheim, 0-2 vs Bayer Leverkusen, 1-0 vs Hertha BSC) and two clean sheets in the last two rounds, Domenico Tedesco will most likely stick within the 3-4-1-2 formation. The Austrian forward Guido Burgstaller is set to return after missing the last round win over Hertha with a suspension and he will probably lead Schalke's attack next to Breel Embolo up front, supported by Franco Di Santo from the second position. Marko Pjaca, who scored the winning goal in Saturday, can also claim first-team football so the German-Italian coach of Schalke 04 has a few attacking options to choose from.
Left-back Abdul Rahman Baba still recovers from injury, while Thilo Kehrer and Leon Goretzka, who have both missed the last game, are doubtful. Nevertheless, Benjamin Stambouli and Nabil Bentaleb are once again set to replace Kehrer and Goretzka, respectively.

Possible starting XIs:

Mainz 05: F. Müller - Bell, Gbamin, Diallo - Donati, N. de Jong, Holtmann - S. Serdar, Latza - Quaison, Muto. (3-1-4-2)

Schalke 04: Fährmann - Stambouli, Naldo, Nastasic - M. Meyer - Bentaleb - D. Caligiuri, Oczipka - di Santo - Embolo, G. Burgstaller. (3-4-1-2)

Mainz is a relatively attacking side (compared with some other relegation pretenders) and I'm more tempted by the BTS odds than the away win. Schalke are the favourites but we've seen that the Bundesliga is a really balanced league except Bayern's superiority and I'm not sure for how long can Schalke find themselves in a winning streak.
Mainz on the other hand is in a desperate need of points, being in a fierce relegation battle, and somehow I highly doubt they'll keep a clean sheet for a second time in a row. Both sides have potential to score. Won't be surprised if the game ends 1-1.

More about the game for all interested: Mainz 05 vs Schalke 04

Pick: Both teams to score - Yes.
Odds: 1.95 @ 10Bet
Stake: (6/10)

Good luck!

Tedesco must possess some magical powers as once again he got a win with his team playing like crap! I thought that Mainz deserved something from this game.

Agree, Mainz deserved at least a draw. By the way, the league should be renamed to the German "Underliga"...

Odds on Stuttgart are rising, thoughts? RB Leipzig already had a home match on Thursday and have an upcoming Europa League journey to Russia. They are surely interested to play Champions League football next season again, but it seems that they're also keen on the Europa League opportunity. Do they hold enough potential to be competitive on both fronts at the same time?
Stuttgart looks in form... four wins in a row, three clean sheets and 13 points won out of 15 possible. The Swabians can also play with no pressure, they are with 8 points over the relegation zone and have won most of their points at home (25 out of 33, with 7 goals conceded at home turf only).

Stuttgart DNB?

Eintracht Frankfurt have been dropped out from the top 4 after the victories of Schalke and Leverkusen, but a win here will get them back on track. Dortmund holds the fourth position and Peter Stöger's men are coming after a shocking midweek defeat to RB Salzburg (1-2) in the UEFA Europa League, while guests from Frankfurt are completely focused over the domestic competition.

Only three days after a lost Europa League encounter against RB Salzburg, BVB might also struggle with fatigue here. However, there are some good news for Dortmund’s coach who may rely on the winter signing Manuel Akanji in the Bundesliga games, so one from the centre-backs Ömer Toprak or Sokratis will be dropped on the bench here.
Maximilian Philipp has recovered from injury and could be an option for the left flank of the Borussia Dortmund attack.

“The Eagles” from Frankfurt hold the same number of points with Borussia Dortmund ahead of this game and Niko Kovac's men can boast the fourth-best away record in the Bundesliga, having won half of their points (21) on the road.
Defensive midfielder Omar Mascarell is the only injury concern for Eintracht Frankfurt before this game – he still recovers from a foot injury. Anyway, Kevin-Prince Boateng should return into the starting XI at the expense of either Jonathan de Guzman or Gelson Fernandes, who have both started during last weekend’s 1-0 success over Hannover 96.

– We have seen over 2.5 goals in 7 of the last 8 games between Borussia and Eintracht Frankfurt in Dortmund. Both teams have scored in 4 of them.
– Borussia Dortmund have won their last 6 home matches against Eintracht Frankfurt in the Bundesliga.
– Dortmund have scored 2 or more goals in their last 8 competitive home matches against Eintracht Frankfurt.
– Eintracht Frankfurt have won four of their last 5 games in all competitions.
– There have been under 2.5 goals scored in Borussia Dortmund’s last 4 Bundesliga fixtures. Maybe it's time for an "overish" match tonight?

Pick: Both teams to score & Over 2.5 Goals
Odds: 2.10 @ 10Bet
Stake: (5/10)

Good luck!

Yes, I agree to this one. I am on Stuttgart straight, at 3.3, but could be wiser to do it on the Asian level ball. Safer, as a draw is not unlikely.
Leipzig ofcourse the stronger team, but with Stuttgart´s excellent form, and strong home record (8-1-3), it is impossible to avoid a bet at 3.3 for me.

Stuttgart - Leipzig
Leipzig -0.25 2.02 asians 4/10
If Köln would have convert their chances consequently they would have taken the 2:0, 3:0 lead against a Stuttgart team that allowed quite much chances in first half. Gomez and Beck scored two lucky goals cause the goalkeeper of Köln had a desastrous day - that's really all how they could win in Köln. Stuttgart profits at the moment from the poor momentum of their opponents (Frankfurt excluded, they just had a super poor game); this match against Leipzig is a bit different cause Leipzig is not only attacking blindly but has made defense much better lately. I see them just more flexible and stronger in the end. It's kind of unreal that Stuttgart wins five matches in a row that's why the odds are falling.

[0:0] -half lost
