Few words about Crvena zvezda. After more than 20 yrs, Zvezda managed to advance in knockout stages of Europa League last season. They successfully passed 4(!) qualifying rounds last summer (including Sparta Prague and Krasnodar) and managed to progress from the group which contained Arsenal, FC Koln and Bate Borisov.

No one will admit that, but I believe that this year goal is to qualify to CL and in worst case scenario to play in EL group stage again. Coach Milojevic, who was the most influential for last year revival, stayed with the club and this is the biggest boost. Regarding the squad, lot of changes were made, as always within the Serbian clubs during the summer. Captain Michel Donald left, also regular CB Le Tallec, and these two players were very important last season, especially Le Tallec who played vital part in defence together with Savic. Latest info (few hours ago) is that last season top scorer Pesic (25 league goals) will leave for one Arabian club and he is definitely excluded from the squad which traveled to Latvia.

However, some interesting players were brought in to replace the ones who left. Midfielders Ebecilio and Meleg will try to add some creativity, Australian NT player Degenek and Sumaila will strenghten the defence, while two Serbian guys, Stojiljkovic and Jevtovic, who played abroad lately, will try to replace Pesic upfront.

Two Serbian NT players, Rodic and Radonjic, have joined just recently and probably won't start here. Both were key players last season.

During the summer preparations, Zvezda played 4 friendly matches, won all of them (Ried and LASK, Austrian Bundesliga teams, also Bohemians from Czech Republic).

To be honest, it's still early to predict what this team is capable of. Of course, quality gap is too big here and if Zvezda had full squad available, this would be no brainer. But under current circumstances, I will not touch away win at these odds, since Zvezda has always been force at home and they can easily finish the job in 2nd leg and after all new players find their place.

GL to everyone!

I forgot to mention...

The problem with Ebecilio is he seems to like nightclubs and pussy more than he likes football.

He wasn't even turning up for training lately and that's why APOEL got rid of him. I hope he takes Red Star more seriously.

Probably 11:
Borjan
Rodic-Savic-Babic-Rodic (Gobeljic)
Krsticic-Jovicic
Ben-Meleg (Ebecilio)- Milic (Radonjic)
Stojiljkovic

Tight defence, I cant see how Spartaks can score here.
CS 0:1, 0:2, 0:3.

Meleg is not even on the bench, but both Rodic and Radonjic are in starting 11. They didn't have proper summer preparations, since they were on WC with Serbian NT. At first glance, this midfield lacks creativity (Jovicic and Krsticic are good tactical players, but they are not playmakers). Milic played well in friendly games, his work rate is awesome, but also not creative player. Defence is as expected, so I don't see Spartaks scoring here.

All in all, smells like UNDER.

Respect serbians and ofc CZ is much stronger team, but believe in Spartaks fighting spirit. Remmember last year then kazahs came to have an easy job and Twumasi scored a winner. But the game wasn't easy for them.

AH on Spartaks +1,5 @2,1 is playable.
