Default Greece Super League Summer(transfers/preps/etc.)

Back after some time, ill try to keep this updated in order to get rdy for the next season.

19/06/2017

2017/2018 season will be concluded with playoffs and the championship will decided through them. qualifiers 1st-5th team.

All 4 big teams, Oly, PAO, PAOK, AEK have all kind of problems, transfers expected to have low quality/low cost.

Coaches: Oly signed Hasi (ex Andrlect). PAOK signed Stanojevic (ex Partizan). AEK continues with Jimenez, PAO continues with Ouzounidis.

Oly signed striker bokani from dynamo Kiev. ( loaned to premier league teams last 2 years). Main striker for the season, oscar cardoso is not in the team anymore.

PAOK signed Leveque, left back from guingamp.

Bokani transfer cancelled, player failed to pass the medical tests.

Aek signed portugese left back helder lopez from las palmas.

In a few days, teams with european matches will start the summer training camps. Olympiakos fans are not satisfied with the new coach they have mostly cause of his nationality and theyexpecting some big transfers. The lack of quality in the team is obvious. President marinakis, who also is in command of N.Forrest in england, stated that 4-5 first team players will come to athens.
PAO is in a chaotic situation financially. 2 of the best players are set to leave, berg and moledo. Fans are rly disapointed and their only hope is manager and director of the team to bring some stability in the club.
Aek is in better shape and clearly the movement from spain is coming from coach jimenez and his connections.
Days left for the club to start the new stadium. Capacity 30000 - 32000.

Yeap, doesnt feel that it will work for him in Oly. it will depend 99% if he will reach CL groups or not. i red that he is very strict coach, wants things to go his way always. In Legia the defence suffered so much, at least in CL.
Friendly Panionios - Oly few days ago, panionios won 2-1, with Oly huge problems in the back, same as last year.

Oly signed Emenike from Fener as main striker.

AEK loaned Traustason from Rapid Vien, skilled winger.
AEK signed Cosic CB from Empoli.
PAO signed kolovetsios CB from AEK
PAOK got Mak back after a year in Zenit. v fast winger/second striker.

PAO signed Luciano from Corinthians
PAO loaned Cabethas from Atalanta

Oly signed Vucklovic CB from Koniaspor
Oly loaned Carcela from Granada (skilled winger)
Oly signed Ofoe central midfielder from Legia ( havent watched him but he seems a v good player)
PAOK signed Rei from Godoi Cruz (Arg GK) as their regular GK.

Aek tomorow play Gent (ffriendly) just a week be4 CL qualifier vs CSSKA. After this game will see in what condition the team is.
Oly splashed around 10-12 mil euro for some top signings for greece. Seems theres a little problem up front because emenike is not a "killer", i mean he doesnt seem like a player who can provide 15-20 goals. its all abt midfield in oly, if they can score its no1 favorite to win the title again.
PAO is messed up, apart from the players they came, coach asked for 4-5 players additionally in order to have a full squad rdy. no money, no honey.
PAOK.new coach started the pre season with 4 4 2 which he likes but there no players to achieve this dif goal. after 12 days switched and trains the usual 4 2 3 1. fans and local press complaining and want "bigger" names as transfers in order to take the title after 35 years.

My favorite team in Greece has always been PAO but I kinda lost hope. Based on what you share, it looks like AEK will be a quite decent team this season, which is very nice. It was a shame when they got relegated years ago. Now they are back in EL competition, the place they deserve. Do you think they can go top 2 this season? And what about championship race? Will it be another dull one dominated heavily by OLY or can we expect some other teams to push for the title?

all 4 teams can go for the title in theory. Biggest favourite is Olympiakos as usual, AEK/PAOK have around the same % to try for it, and PAO with the less chances.

Heres my thoughts abt a month be4 season starts (and probably wont change unless some huge transfers occur):

Olympiakos

Coach under pressure this early? yeap. the main test for this coach in order to suceed are qualific. rounds be4 CL groups. President splashed around 12 - 14 Mil in transfer for Ofoe/emenike/vuckovich/carcela/tachtsidi and NO OTHER team in Greece can do such thing. So, if the team passes a few rounds and if team will produce some nice football, fans will be relaxed coach will stay, and the championship will be theirs again. Although there are 2 key factors here: Defence and referees.

PAO

the team with the less stress. Coach ouzounidis is backed fully by the fans (president isnt at all). PAO team will have alot of new names, greek players and new blood. They are trying a fresh start and imo they can go as high as 2nd and as low as like 5th? Watch Zeca mid, Moledo CB. these 2 and maybe 2-3 more they will have to give everything they have for PAO to succeed.

AEK

25/07/2017 is a historical day for AEK cause the papers are signed and after 4 years, this week, the new stadium will start being created. Fans are crying from joy after all these years without a stadium, president is like a god at this moment. After many years, the team is again in European cups, something good is expected to happen in Europe. Main goal is to reach Europa League groups.
Domestic league? well my personal opinion is that AEK wont/cant go for champioship untill new stadium will be created. All the resources are aimed for that cause. Transfers made this year, (see above posts) but without giving alot of money and many loans. With jimenez as coach, im expecting a decent year, better than last season but NOT something special or fancy.

PAOK

Another new coach under big pressure. Fans expected after the recent CUP win, big name as coach, big names as players since their president shows off in greece football and not only there. Nothing happened, money still havent splashed around. So the press is aiming coach. Who else? heh this is greece. Coaches coming and go like birds. i can say that refs will back PAOK at some point. If the team from Thesaloniki show some good transfers, especially in CB and midfields positions they might have a try this year.

See ya in Livescore thread

Thank you so much for the preview. Well, I think OLY is the clear candidate for the title again but the fight for second spot should be entertaining. Now the only missing piece for me to make Greek league "great again" is Aris.
