After striking some spectacular victories in the last round, both Bologna and Sampdoria will be keen to strengthen their Serie A positions on Saturday afternoon. The clash at the “Stadio Renato Dall’Ara” in Bologna is set to kick-off the round 14 schedule, in a time which is somehow untypical for the Italian Calcio.

The last time Sampdoria found a path to conquer the Stadio Renato Dall’Ara was a 2:3 Coppa Italia thriller in August 2006, followed by three defeats and four draws. Their latest Serie A success there dates 14 years ago – a narrow victory from November 2003.

Bologna twice came from behind against Hellas Verona to win 3-2 on Monday night. That win climbed The Rossoblu into the top half of the table (10th), ending a dreadful form of four successive losses.
What may be of some concern is theirhome form, with only one win throughout the season, that happened against a struggling newcomers SPAL. We shall underline that Bologna have already faced tough sides like Napoli, Inter and Lazio, and even won one point against Inter. On the other hand, The Rossoblu have also suffered some disappointments with the home defeats to Crotone, 2:3 in their last home match, as well as 0:3 to Cittadella (Serie B) in the early Coppa Italia rounds.

La Samp’s excellent results have been seriously influenced by their flawless home record. They have won all seven games at the “Stadio Luigi Ferraris”, including six Serie A games and one in the Coppa Italia. Besides, they have an “away win” at home, winning the “Derby della Lanterna” against city rivals Genoa right prior the devastating for Italian World Cup hopes international break.
Last round Sampdoria achieved a massive win over Juventus and their display was simply brilliant.

Sampdoria head to Bologna with five wins in the last six Serie A rounds, three of them in the last three games. In fact, The Blucerchiati have scored 19 goals in these six games and are in good position to claim European football next year.
Fabio Quagliarella (7 goals, 4 assists) and Duvan Zapata (5 goals, 4 assists) are key to Sampdoria’s scoring form, but we should not underestimate a fabulous efficiency of their midfielders.

Marco Giampaolo’s men are on two points behind fifth-placed Lazio so a win here would boost them to the fifth position, at least for awhile.
In my opinion Sampdoria have all arguments to claim the three points in Bologna for the first time since (in Serie A) more than 14 years and they look really capable to record another positive result.

    Possible starting XIs:

Bologna: Antonio Mirante – Emil Krafth, Giancarlo González, Filip Helander, Adam Masina – Godfred Donsah, Erick Pulgar, Andrea Poli – Simone Verdi, Mattia Destro, Rodrigo Palacio. (4-3-3)

    Missing - Federico Di Francesco.

Sampdoria: Emiliano Viviano – Ivan Strinic, Gianmarco Ferrari, Matías Silvestre, Bartosz Bereszynski – Edgar Barreto, Lucas Torreira, Karol Linetty – Gaston Ramirez – Duvan Zapata, Fabio Quagliarella. (4-3-1-2)

    Missing - Dennis Praet.

Pick: Sampdoria - Asian Handicap 0
    Odds: 2.19 @ BetVictor
    Stake: (5/10)

    Good luck!

Atalanta will miss defender Spinazzola who participated on 6 matches this season.

Benevento will miss bunch of players. Two very important names on the list are midfielder Ciciretti and forward Iemmello. Besides them, coach cannot count on 3 defenders. Two are suspended but with different reasons: regular defender Letizia due to cards, Lucioni due to positive doping tests and injured Lazaar. List of missing players is finished with second attacker ***8211; Parigini. All together they will miss players who scored 4 goals while whole team succeeded to score only 6 times this season.

Short preview:*As you saw above, Benevento who is already by far the worse team in Serie A ***8211; 13 defeats in 13 matches with 33 goals conceded, is coming to Bergamo who recently won against Everton in Liverpool with 1-5 without several important players. Even though they played solid two matches lately I think that with so many problems with squad they will find themselves in tough position. Atalanta played without Ili***269;i***263; on the bench as both were only one yellow away from suspension, so he is fresh, rested and probably coming back to first 11 today. With scoring 5 on Goodison Park, where Everton by the way played with Rooney, Mirallas, Klaasen and Sandro Ramirez they are coming back on Stadio Atleti Azzuri d***8217;Italia and as they are on winless road in Serie A for 3 matches in row (Udinese, SPAL, Inter) I expect them to bounce back strongly and jump two places higher on the league table.*This time I decided to suggest half-time/full time option on Atalanta with odds around 1,70.

If Atalanta will take the game seriously they should fill the net of Benevento. I like the odds for over 5,5 @ 6. But we'll see.

Yep, just as I thought Atalanta is playing today. Glad I skip this bet.
