I remember the Charlton game in Liverpool at 4 March, 2006, when the result was 0:0, i seen one Charlton game vs Bolton in away - 4:1, and last one was vs Manchster U 4:0...I expected that at the end of the season Athleticans became weaker and weaker,or just tied. Now is new season, anything can happen, all the teams had activated but i will risk with a X2. There is all games against West Ham:
Apr 2, 06 West Ham 0 - 0 Charlton
Dec 31, 05 Charlton 2 - 0 West Ham
Aug 31, 02 West Ham 0 - 2 Charlton
Apr 6, 02 West Ham 2 - 0 Charlton
Nov 19, 01 Charlton 4 - 4 West Ham
or maybe under 2.5:?:

If there is Curbisley I would bet on Charlton (like always played well at the start of the season), but now wit Dowie it's all possible

first games are always tricky, west ham I'm thinking good things for and have taken at 20-1 each way in betting without the top four. Still they have a few injuries for this game, ashton, etherington, green are amongst those who would start who are out. Charlton playing their first game under new manager dowie will have something to prove, added to its a local derby and this make this a very tight game and a certain no bet.

over 2.5, small stakes

Charlton will prove to be all season long a 70% over 2.5 in a game team, reflected in Dowies signings and public statements. Attack is the way he plays, he wont change, and with people like Bent signing new deals and Hasselbaink brought in, we can understand his intentions.
You score 2, we score 3.

Will not always work, and often Charlton will be on the other end of a big scoreline this year, as our picks throught the season will try to show, but in a London derby where both teams try to play 'fluent attractive and always going forward' types of football, over 2.5 suggests value, and even mroe so at the odds available.

Dean Ashton is out for some months, whilst Etherington, Spector and Green are also out. These absentees will mean little to tactics as the ball will still be drifted about bypassing the centre via either going wide or straight over the central midfield. Carlton Cole, Bobby Zamora, Marlon Harewood and Teddy Sheringham still make a good aray of choices for strikers, and Charlton can compare too.

West Ham (from): Carroll, Pantsil, Gabbidon, Ferdinand, Konchesky, Bowyer, Benayoun, Reo-Coker, Mullins, Harewood, Zamora, Walker, Mears, Collins, Tomkins, Dailly, Reid, Cole, Sheringham, Ephraim.

Charlton (from): Carson, Young, Traore, El Karkouri, Sorondo, Hreidarsson, Hughes, Faye, Holland, Kishishev, Ambrose, Rommedahl, Hasselbaink, D Bent, Reid, Lisbie, M Bent, Myhre, Andersen, Ashton, Walton, Euell, Sam.

Between Benayoun, Reo-Coker, Mullins and Holland, Ambrose and Rommedahl we cant expect too much interchange passing, but rather, some direct running which in the opening weeks should find favour against defenders of the stationary type who are on display here.
A poor west ham defence with an over rated pairing of Anton Ferdinand and Gabbidon against a 'slower then a mule' defence of Charlton, chances should NOT be at a premium, and with the abundance of strikers here, goals should flow and the value is with over 2.5.

Just a suggestion. Not sure if the other bookies offer this, but goal line at 2.0 @ 1.9 on Ladbrokes presents very, very good value IMO. I can easily see this ending 1-1, so that would be good insurance against that outcome.

Thinking about this game a week ago, I was leaning towards West Ham. The Ashton injury, and a few shrewd signings in Faye, Traore and Andy Reid have me reconsidering that. No bet. Over 2 is value, but I won't be on it personally.

Why didn't Rommedahl play?

wondered that about rommedhal myself, from what I can gather from internet. He didn't have a good last season, and hasn't really excelled in the summer, so dowie went with other wingers, remains to be seen if he can play himself into favour as if he's screwed on there's no doubt he could be huge for charlton.
