I am with you with Celtic win. Just look at the statistics between the teams. Only wins for Celtic in last 5 years. And normally Big teams win their first game of the season at home.

Celtic have been terrible during pre-season with a lot of terrible results and far too many games. Saying that Killie have a very poor record against Celtic and i do expect Celtic to win but at that odds i would give it a miss.

Milners, or any guy from Scotland, what do you think about Falkirk's pre season and summer transfers? As I concluded from results (only :( ), they seemed to be a little team, which knows their capacity well and acts with it. They were not inconsistent, if I am not totally drunk and you know it is too hot, this can be a reason too.

Anyway guys, what do you think about Falkirk double chance?

I thought Inverness was a poor team last season with amazing away record which helped them do well. I think this season might be more of a struggle for them. I always though teams get a buzz coming straight up to the Premier league but the first game the last 9 teams that have played all apart from Inverness a few years ago played at home for the first game and the record is 1-3-5 which is really poor considering the opening game only one was against the old firm. Normally you find teams that have promoted seem to have a decent start in the league. Was going to lay Inverness but i'll give it a miss.

Card doesn't look that good to be honest only one price i like the look off and i might go with it but yesterday Aberdeen was 4.00 which is a silly price considering Aberdeen have won 3 out of the last 4 games at Hibs and is quite a lucky ground for us in the past.

Price now moved to 3.75 which is still a decent price considering hibs have lost their good strikers and they have always been shaky at the back. Aberdeen have a few suspension problems with Diamond and Severin out but i feel Severin will be a miss. By the looks of it our defenders that was a doubt are fit to play so thats a boost. Hibs have Sproule suspended which is a boost for us considering he has caused problems in the past. Need to work out Hibs Injury problems though.

Still not sure if i'm going with it as i feel this one could be a draw.

Not sure about this game to be honest - you have to favour dundee utd but i wouldn't trust them at all. Falkirk is a team i think will struggle this season but its a tough game to predict for me so stay away

Hibs

Vs

Aberdeen

Hello and its nice to be back after a brake of a couple of months, lets hope we can make profit like the last year and a half since I’ve tipped on bettingadvice.

So the first game of the season in SPL and most of the card is not that good to be honest but the price of Aberdeen is a bit wrong considering the history of this game. No way should they be 3.75 or 4.00 (as they were 2 days ago). Aberdeen have a excellent record at Easter road winning 3 out of the last 4 and to me hibs are a lot weaker than they was at the start of last season.

Anyway lets get on to Hibs – I haven’t really followed there European adventure as I was in South Africa following Aberdeen so I’ve got a bit of catching up to do with that but they won both games against Dinaburg which I believe wasn’t that good a team and then went out to away goals to Odense (typical Scottish team in Europe!!! Lol). Anyway hibs haven’t signed much which is like most of Scottish Football so far they signed Rob Jones who is about 6ft 7 so he is a tall defender. They have lost O’Connor and Riordan who was two fantastic forwards and also Caldwell who I didn’t rate as a defender but has signed for Celtic. Hibs was always good in attack but I wonder if losing their forwards will hit them hard when in defence they are not that good. Also they have Sproule, Murphy and Malkowski suspended which Sproule is a pacey striker/winger, Murphy is a defender who played quite a lot and also Malkowski is their no 1 goalkeeper. Fletcher is also at the U19’s UEFA tournament playing for Scotland who is in the final against Spain – so they will miss him as well. Scotland to win the world cup in 2010!!! Lol. But hibs will miss the 4 of them.

Right on to my team Aberdeen, how has our preseason gone? Well rather well to be honest we have won most of the games and played quite well in nearly all of them. Only lost 1 which isn’t bad considering it was our reserves that played that game. Played quite well in South Africa although the state of the pitches wasn’t good but it’s been a good build up I suppose. Aberdeen has two suspensions - Diamond and Severin. Both was regulars last season but I wonder with our new signing of Touzani then I think Diamond might have been on the bench. We also have doubts in defence to Byrne and Anderson but according to the press/website they are winning there battle to be fit which is magic news as if Anderson doesn’t make it then I would be worried with this bet.

Right to the stats bit and only going with head to heads at Easter Road and its 4-1-5 so Aberdeen have slight advantage there although they have won 3 out of the last 4 games at Easter Road.

So to sum up why I’m going with Aberdeen (draw no bet) at 2.75 is because I think Hibs are weaker this season and have quite a few suspensions and also another player away in another tournament. Hibs like Aberdeen don’t have a big squad and this is a big game since I feel both will be challenging for 4th spot in the league. I did like 4.00 for Aberdeen which no moved down to 3.75 but am going to play safe and go medium bet at 2.75 with Draw no bet as I feel this could easily be a draw as i really do like the value on the dons so feel its worth going with

Me 2, right now they dont deserve these odds. As you have said: Their preperation for the season was awful (only one win in all the friendlies, a 1:0 against Everton), the offense of Celtic didnt seem to be existent in those and they could well need some more time to get into best shape. Strachan stretches that ""Last year, we didn't score many goals in pre-season and didn't play particularly well and we won the league by 21 points.", but that is not enough for me to to trust Celtic yet.

I favor Hearts win 1.53 and asian odd to give -1.

Hearts team spirit is high after winning UEFA League Qualification match against Bosnian Championship team 3-0 and winning several warm-up matches over Preston, Osasuna & Livingston.

Also, Hearts has not lost important players this year so their strengths can be maintained. For the Head-to-Head result last year: Hearts win 2-0, 4-0 at home and win 4-1 at Dunfermline's home. Both wins are comfortable. So their gap is large.

Besides, after Dunfermline changes their home stadium grass from artifical grass to natural grass last year, their home result declines quickly. So, I believe on-form Hearts can defeat them favorably.

Well, Milner has done a great preview about Aberdeen, whereas I am adding some impressions about the other Saturday's matches:

Celtic-Kilmarnock
Not a great moment for Celtic. Yes, they won the title easily last year and now want to succeed in Europe, but it won't be easy at all. Hartson and Keane were important players and still we have no proof that they have good subs. Summer friendlies were horrible for Celtic (only a win against Everton) and in the last match, lost 0-3 against Manchester United, the fans began to show their unhappiness. Rirodan and kenny Miller will play in attack and we still have to see if theyunderstand each other. Kilmarnock, on the other hand, nows very well that stands no chance against Celtic and will go in Glasgow hoping to make a nice start of season and hopefully to caue some problems to the giants. Celtic is not as strong as last season, but can easily win this match.
Verdict: Celtic to win, over 2,5

Inverness ***8211; St. Mirren
Inverness had a great season last year and will try to repeat it, but first of all has to improve at home, where the results were pretty disappointing. Of course, as most scottish teams, no important players joined the team in summer and Inverness knows perfectly that their ambition cannot go above the 7th place. On the other hand, St. Mirren did a great job last year, but now they play in Premier League and with no new players they will hardly succeed in the battle for surviving. Pretty hard match to predict this one, because St.Mirren will defend all the time and will try to score in any counter. Inverness is a better team, but it is not used to playing against teams who defend all the time. I preddict a boring and low-scoring match. If there will be any goal, it will be Inverness goal.
verdict: Under 2,5

Dunfermline - Hearts
Well, we have here a clear away win in theory, because Dunfermline is one of the main relegation pretendents, whereas Hearts wants to win the title this year. For both teams will not be easy to fulfill their ambitions, but today Hearts should win this. Hearts has done a good preparation, because of the matches in Champions League, whereas Dunfermilne clearly lacks quality in the team (it is enough to mention that they lost all the important friendlies in this summer). Of course, Hearts may be a little tired from the match against Siroki Brijeg, but has the quality and the players to win this match.
Verdict: Hearts to win, Over 2,5

Dundee Utd. - Falkirk
Dundee United is every year struggling to survive and ever year falling down in the table. No importamt players joined the team this summer and it will be hard for Dundee United to avoid joining Fc Dundee in the second League. The match against Falkirk is kind of a real test for Dundee Utd: if they don't win this, they will most probably finish in last 4 teams and the coach Craig Brewster might end his career with Dundee United from tomorrow evening. Falkirk is a good team, a fighting one, but just like many other teams, they lack quality and fonds to buy good players, so they will try to survive in Premier. Last year Falkirk won in Dundee, this year a draw would be enough. Anyway, the best bet would be Under, since it will be a tight and hard fought match.
Verdict: Under 2,5

Hibernian v Aberdeen

Hibernian will be without a number of key players for the Bank of Scotland Premier League opener against Aberdeen. Midfielder Guillaume Beuzelin and Sam Morrow are missing, while David Murphy, goalkeeper Zbigniew Malkowski and winger Ivan Sproule are all suspended. For

Aberdeen, defensive trio Russell Anderson, Richie Byrne and Andrew Considine are all expected to be in the squad after shrugging off knocks.
However midfielder Scott Severin and defender Zander Diamond are suspended. Hibs striker Steven Fletcher and goalkeeper Andrew McNeil are both away on Scotland Under-19 international duty but striker Chris Killen has shrugged off a knock. With Easter Road reserve keeper Alastair Brown also injured, new Hungarian signing David Grof, 17, will cover for Simon Brown.

Inverness CT v St Mirren

Inverness Caledonian Thistle striker Craig Dargo is fit to face St Mirren as the Paisley side make their return to the Scottish Premier League. The former Kilmarnock forward has shrugged off a thigh injury, while defender Ross Tokely has recovered from a groin injury.

St Mirren manager Gus MacPherson has a "number of slight doubts" but is refusing to divulge names. Defender Andy Millen could become the oldest to ever play in the SPL at 41.

Can any Scottish friend can give us more infos about St. Mirren's situation?

I am thinking of betting in under 2,5 goals in Celtic-Killmarnock match. It has a very good odd and i think it's very possible.Celtic was awful in friendlies and they can't score easily..Riordan and Miller can't cooperate,so i think under is the best choice..

Hibs v Aberdeen

Hibs
After a couple of seasons where(barring injuries)Hibs have been able to count on a fairly settled side with young stars at its core, this year could represent Tony Mowbray's toughest challenge yet.

While many pundits doubted(wrongly) Hibs' ability to replicate their 04/05 form last season, those doing so again might have a little more basis for their scepticism this year, as the player losses and areas of concern from last season don't seem to have been addressed.

Last season saw much chopping and changing between the sticks, as Simon Brown and Zbignew Malkowski traded dodgy performances, high profile mistakes, with a few good showings thrown in for good measure. Simon Brown has the nod at the moment, but the Hibs fans are convinced by neither of the two, and with no new face arriving over the summer another season of frequent changes in goal looks likely.

In central defence their settled back line of Caldwell and Smith have both left, Caldwell to Celtic and his partner to a player-coach role at Cowdenbeath. Mowbray has moved to plug the gap with Grimsby defender Rob Jones, who looks like he could thrive in the physical environment of the Scottish games. Mowbray's choice for the other slot is Chris Hogg who was an understudy for most of last season, and it is he who could be one of the players upon which Hibs' season depends, given that he could thrive or crash and burn with the increased responsibility.

On the flanks Hibs have a fairly settled defensive pairing of Murphy on the left and Whittaker on the right, although Whittaker has often looked more at home in midfield, with his defensive qualities a little lacking.

While Hibs have lost players at the back and upfront, their midfield has been left relatively untouched, and its from here that Hibs will be looking to make up for a possible lack of threat in front of goal. Scott Brown has shown pre season promise with a double against Charlton, and players like Steven Glass have shown a decent eye for goal, but others like Stewart, Beuzelin and Thompson's qualities are more towards the defensive, creative, or holding roles rather than goalscoring, and Scott Brown will have a key role in getting forward.

Up front Riordan and O Connor have left, leaving plenty strikers but few with prolific records. Killen, Sproule, Morrow and Dalglish have all proved they can find the net at times, but as none have had consistent runs in the first team, or up front in the main striking role, there should be keen competition between the four(and youngster Steven Fletcher) for the starting places.

Aberdeen

I'll be the first to admit I'm in no way clued up with whats been happening at Pittodrie, but I'll give a shot at a quick overview

Jamie Langfield should command the No 1 jersey this season - a decent keeper who is prone to the odd dodgy game or howler, but one who could well develop if the defence in front of him takes some of the pressure off. Otherwise Derek Soutar could challenge him for a starting slot.

In defence Aberdeen have a few injury concerns, but one of their few signings is at the back where Karim Touzani has come in. He has failed to live up to a fair amount of hype in the past through injury, and could turn into a bit of a transfer coup if he manages to fulfil his apparent potential at Aberdeen. His possible partnership with Russel Anderson will give him every chance.

Jimmy Calderwood conducted a bit of a makeover of the Aberdeen midfield and strikeforce when first arriving in Aberdeen, but after a full season together the side has a more settled look to it now. Players on the fringes of the Scotland squad such as Severin, Smith and Nicholson will all look to combine their inclusion in future national sides with Aberdeen's push for a European place, and they have all shown the ability in the past to be considered as one of the SPL's better midfields.

Up front, Steve Lovell showed some of the goalscoring instincts which were obvious with his time at Dundee, and an extended run in front of a midfield playing well could see him towards the top of the SPL scoring charts this season. Stevie Crawford has often flattered to deceive and could play a less important role this season, particularly with a few youngsters in behind vying for their chance in the first team.

This Match

I'm having a look at the half time market for this game. Aberdeen are perhaps a little overpriced on the outright markets, but last season we saw numerous second half onslaughts from Hibs(2-0 down to Killie at HT at Easter Road, reversed to 4-2 by full time) so I'd like my bet decided one way or the other by half time. Tony Mowbray has a knack of masterminding a bit of a comeback which I don't want to oppose.

However, their first half performances are a little weak - last season their 1st 45 record was W9 D13 L16, with Aberdeen a little stronger at W13 D18 L7.

It should be noted that Aberdeen have fared well at Easter Road in recent season, and this success has been built on good first half performances, leading 4 and drawing 1 at HT in their last 5 games against the green half of Edinburgh.

Finally, while Aberdeen have a few injury and suspension concerns, Sproule, Murphy, Fletcher, Morrow and Beuzelin will all miss out for Hibs, and their fairly new line up may just take half an hour to adjust to SPL football, allowing Aberdeen's more settled X1 to take advantage.

Nevertheless, opening day question marks mean this is a min stakes punt for me.

1pt Aberdeen at HT @ 4.50 with Stan James

Motherwell vs Rangers preview from ESPN

Motherwell goalkeeper Graeme Smith hopes to see the promising youngsters in the Fir Park squad become fully-fledged Steelmen this season.

The former Rangers stopper, who signed a two-year contract extension at the end of April, knows a handful of the Lanarkshire side are still finding their feet.

Striker Ross McCormack and defender Brian McLean, who followed Smith from Ibrox, fall into that category along with the likes of David Clarkson and Paul Quinn.

And Smith believes this could be the campaign where the squad come of age.

He said: ``We are a young group but we are growing up. And, if we are growing up, then we will be maturing and improving as players.

``Most of us now have a good year under our belts at this level, so we have to get better and, if we don't, we will need to take a look at ourselves.

``But I can see the squad developing and hopefully that only means good things for the future.''

The former Light Blues trio of Smith, McCormack and McLean come up against their old club on Sunday in the opening fixture of the Bank of Scotland Premier League.

But Smith, 23, has shrugged off the suggestion he has something to prove against the Light Blues after failing to make the breakthrough at Ibrox.

He said: ``It's great to get the opportunity to play Rangers in the first game and nobody here is complaining about it. It was the same when we played Celtic on the first day last year.

``You will always have the same feeling of wanting to do well against your old club and wanting to impress. That is just a natural feeling.

``But it is worth remembering people are watching and criticising you in every game you play so Sunday will be no different.''

Meanwhile, Smith - although sorry to see former Well boss Terry Butcher leave the club - was relieved when his assistant Maurice Malpas was handed the job.

He added: ``Terry was a major influence on my decision to join Motherwell, so I was delighted when Maurice got the job rather than someone from outside coming in because he knows me.''

Meanwhile, new Rangers manager Paul Le Guen is looking forward to his Ibrox career beginning in earnest at Fir Park.

The former Lyon boss has negotiated a fairly successful pre-season with his new team which culminated in a drawn closed-doors game at the club's Murray Park training ground against Bolton on Tuesday.

But now the Frenchman is ready to accept the age-old challenge that all Old Firm managers have to face from their supporters - winning every game they play.

He said: ``There is nothing like competitive games.

``We can play as many friendly games as we want but there is nothing like real competition.

``We did some good work against Bolton on Tuesday even though the first half was better than the second half.

``But we have done the work we had to do in pre-season.

``I am not surprised (that fans expect to win every game). I knew the situation before coming and I am ready for the challenge.

``We won't win every game but I want the players to think of our aims during each training session and each game.''

With skipper Barry Ferguson set to miss the first five games of the season with a heel injury, Le Guen is looking for a captain to lead the Light Blues out against the Steelmen.

Gavin Rae, Kris Boyd and Dado Prso have all shared the responsibility during pre-season games in the absence of the Scotland midfielder.

However, the Frenchman played down the importance of the captain's armband.

He said: ``We have different possibilities for the role of captain.

``Gavin Rae, when he plays, can be captain and Dado Prso can be captain so I have many possibilities.

``The captain is important but not as important to me as perhaps he is to you (the media).

``First of all the captain must be a good player but we have time to decide before the Motherwell game.''

Since arriving from France in the summer, interest has surrounded Le Guen's approach to his new job which, amid a general tightening of discipline at the Govan club, has included double training sessions for the Rangers players.

But the former Lyon boss is reluctant to compare his methods with his predecessor Alex McLeish.

He said: ``I don't want to judge what happened last year, not at all, I just do things my own way.

``It is normal to change things, not for the sake of it but because it's my way of working.'' :D :D

Cheers

Motherwell in pre-season games draw last three games(Ross County 1:1,Crusaders 0:0,Ballimena 0:0).

Rangers played also some pre-season matches but the most important was their victory against

Midllesborough 1:0.

Rangers keep their old squad but have bought some new players also. The most familiar from them is Sionko
who arived from Austria.

Rangers is a club with great tradition in Scotland with army of fans.

Motherwell didnt impress in pre-season matches so for me the away win look very probable.

No doubt Rangers will improve this season under the guidance of French wizard Le Guen but I really don't see any reason to bet on them at such low odds. If Motherwell can keep it 0-0 for long it can become very hard for Rangers to win...

I don't think that Rangers really are 3 classes better club than the hosts...especially away from home which was proven last season more than well!
