hi! i think the odds in match Hungary-Belarus is wrong...
its make only by last year when Hungary was 6th (4 wins, 4 loses, average score 59:65)...but Belarus won easy division B (8 wins, 0 loses, average score 72:46)...
every year si other in this youth competitons but we can a little forecast by U16 in 2004...and in this competition Belarus was 4th and Hungary 10th and in U16 2005 Belarus was 12th and Hungary 11th

hi! i think the odds in match Hungary-Belarus is wrong...
its make only by last year when Hungary was 6th (4 wins, 4 loses, average score 59:65)...but Belarus won easy division B (8 wins, 0 loses, average score 72:46)...

i don`t think so... Rusia and Sain is more stronger than Belgium or even Rusia... IMO the odds should be ~1,4, but it is just my opinion

In last game against Poland, Bulgaria commited 32 turnovers. Poland didn't used it too well as they scored only 58 points because of pathetic 3 points shooting 1/17 = 55.9 and not very well 2 points shooting 22/57 = 38.6% and free throws 11/21 = 52.4% . Give Serbia that much shots that Poland was given and with Serbian average of 43.9% for 2 points , 33.9 for 3 points and 55,4% free throws, they' ll score 80 points. Do I believe Serbia will have so much shots? Yes, I do, those 32 turnovers are not exception, Turkey averages 30 per game. And I have no reason to believe Serbia will shoot far from their average percentage, when Bulgaria met other strong team Czech Republic they allowed 83 points, Czech shooting 41% for 2 and 36% for 3. It's not some sky rocket defence that keeps Bulgaria on 63 allowed points, it's simply unableness of other two opponents Slovakia and Poland to benefit from Turkish turnovers. So I rate Serbia to score at least 75 points, probably 80, in worst case 70 and I need 50 points from Bulgaria. If I look that Bulgaria scores 61 per game I would say I'll get it 100% sure, and if I look that their lowest scoring game was 51 points I would say very probably. However, Serbia allows 41 point per game only. Yes, they probably play good defense, but I think it is more due to fact they were playing in group with very low scoring teams. By points scored Belarus is 12th of 16 teams scoring 52.3 points per game, Hungary second to last with 47.0 ppg and Germany with amasing 40.3 ppg is least scoring team of tournament of course. So those teams scored low number of points in mutual games not only against Serbia ant they are simply low scoring teams. Either that, either draw placed 4 best defences in same group which I don't beleive. Unless they have really bad day I think Bulgarians will come over 50 points, 55 to 60 I would say, maybe even more if Serbia gains big lead in 1st half and don't plays seriously in second half. I will not go with high stake cause Serbian defence looks strong and if it is very very strong combined with poor Serbia shooting and/or Bulgaria reducing number of turnovers there is small chance game finishes under 118.5 after all.

Belgium lost by 36 to very strong France, won very weak Greece by 38 points, and in between lost battle to Lithuania for second place in the group. Turkey lost all 3 matches, against favourites Spain and Russia by 1 and 2 points, then against surprising group winner Sweden by 7 points, but they rested point guard Yavuz entire game and another starter Gumusay played 4 minutes only in that game as they were out of possibility for quarterfinals before that game (Sweden rested key players in that game too but in usual fashion giving all of them less much playing time, not playing 3 full time, 2 not at all as Turkey). Sweden made things unclear in that group, is Sweden is stronger than assumed or other teams are not so good. Matches between Spain vs France and Sweden vs Lithuania will say more. Unfortunately this match is played before, so all I can say that I think Turkey is favourite in my eyes too, but I cannot estimate if spread is set correctly. For under/over line seems to be set correctly, better said there is no relevant informations pointing otherwise.

Both 3rd matches of each team are not relevant. Teams were in quarterfinals and both coaches played with 12 players, only Elhotova of Czech Republic played more than 23 minutes, 28 minutes. In first two matches Czech played against lower middle strong Bulgaria and weak Poland scoring 82 points average allowing 68 points. Meanwhile Hungary played against lower middle strong Belarus and weak Germany scoring 49 points average allowing 45 points. As for Hungary they'll probably score more than 49 points today, but not much, 50 to 55 I would say. That's because they're simply bad shooters. They shoot 27% for 2 points (for 3 points better, 36% but it's not important as they rarely shot for 3, 1 out of their 7 shots is from long distance) and they couldn't learn how to shoot over next 2 days. So they should limit Czech republic to under 67 points to cover +12.5. I don't beleive Czech can score 15 points less than their average. Spread was on -10.5, as it raised to -12.5 I'll go with lower stake.

This two teams are really bad. I mean look at this 23.4% for 2 points by Germany or 14.0 for 3 points by Poland, not to speak about 24 turnovers per game by each team. We must rank Poland as less weak simply because of fact that they hit 61 of 194 field goal attempts, Germany only 42 of 175. But it's very hard to compare two weak teams. With two good teams you know approximately their upper and lower limits. But with two bad teams you don't know their lower limits. Well, it's almost sure Germany will not score 27 points or less and it's almost sure Poland will not shoot 5.9% or less for 3 points. But there are other areas where they can perform even worse. Everything is possible in this game from my point of view. Not because everything is possible, but because I really don't know how bad are those two teams. For that reason I cannot now if -8.5 on Poland is value or no (same for Germany +8.5) and what I have from 1.20 on Poland? If I wanted such odds I would take Czech or Serbians or bet on some soccer match on "xy to score goal anytime" .

Greece is among the weakest teams on tournament shooting 29.8% for 2 points (3rd worst), 21.7% for 2 points (3rd worst), with 35.3 rebounds per game 2nd worst rebounders of the tournament. Russia lost to Sweden, could save their asses by winning Spain but failed to. I'm going over in this match because of Russians games. It seems their problem is not in offence but in defence:
- against Sweden Russia scored 55, Sweden allowed 48 points average in other two games
- against Turkey Russia scored 68, Turkey allowed 60 points average in other two games
- against Spain Russia scored 65, Spain allowed 57 points average in other two games
That's trend showing Russia scores about 8 points more than other opponents per game.
- against Russia Sweden scored 65, Sweden scored 53 points average in other two games
- against Russia Turkey scored 66, Turkey scored 56 points average in other two games
- against Russia Spain scored 73, Spain scored 57 points average in other two games
That's trend showing teams scores at least 10 points more against Russia.
As Greece allows 69 points per game that gives me 77 points for Russia and with Greece scoring 48 per game it would be 58+ points for Greece. I can be pretty sure Russia will score 75+ in this game, nothing scary about Greeks to advert them from it. I would be glad to say same for Greece scoring 55+, but they are really shooting poorly, however I do beleive they can score at least 1 point over their average of 48 points when other teams does 10+ . I'm not afraid of Russia playing unseriously (in 2nd half or from beginning) and thus scoring less than 75 points. In that case they'll probably allow more points.

Lithuania did what was expected from them, win over weak Grece, loss to strong France and close win over Belgium to qualify to quarterfinal groups. They did it by somehow non-Lithuanian style, bad 23% for 3 points and big 54 rebounds per game. Sweden are surpise of the tournament with 3 wins against favourised teams. They allow only 50 points per game (only SCG less with 41 ppg) so that must be some fanatic defence and turnovers low 16 times, low compared to most of the teams. Still, they are mistery for me, it's best to wait this match to see if they are really candidates for medails. Leaning to under as only Russia scored over 60 against Sweden and I think Sweden will know how to slow down Lithuanians, but I'll skip it. It was +8.5 on Czech this morning and I would gladly take it now, but while I was thinking others took it and it went to +4.5 so no value in it anymore. Basic idea was that bookie is expecting something like 61-52 score for Sweden and then if game goes in higher scoring, it means something is wrong with Sweds strength, defence. In theory, if Serbia losses this game by 38+ points they're out of quarterfnals and if they loss it by 18 to 37 points they'll qualify but as second in group. But in real life Serbia qualified for quarterfinals as first in a group. Should I be Serbian coach I would use this opportunity to rest some players, but I don't know what is in his head. Two strong teams (Spain and Czech Republic), two tight losses and they'll play for 5th - 8th place now. Hungary had two fine wins at start, then three losses but to three arguable strongest teams on championship. Last two losses where by single digits margin thus Hungary have two ATS wins, so it's possible they'll loss with less than 10 points again. But if they'll play with all 12 players giving some rest to starters as they did in match versus Serbia, another 20+ points loss is possible. However, I'll take under 126.5 points bet on this game. Hungary is scoring 52 points average and only against fast tempo Czech they scored more than 54 points. As France allows 59 points, I would say Hungary cannot go over 55 points in this game. After four great wins, Sweden lost to Serbia yesterday. Reason they lost by high 21 points margin is abscence of better of Eldebrink twins. Frida Eldebrink averaged 14.0 points, 6.8 rebounds, 2.8 assists and 1.3 steals in first four games and that was big blow for Sweden playing with 6 1/2 players mainly. Three backcourt players Aili and Eldebrink sisters being on court almost entire game, center Halvarsson briefly rested by backup Lidgren while Grahn and Loyd alternates on forward. With such thin rotation all their conception felt apart yesterday without their best scorer.

It's hard to estimate Slovakia as only strong team they played against was Czech Republic and Czech played that game mostly with bench players having being assured quarterfinal spot already. They're weaker than Russia no doubt, but I cannot say how much weaker. Russia won last two games against weak opposition, but they won Greece by tournament highest margin +49 and Belarus by only +3, it's hard to say how they'll feel today. Russia can allow loss up to 4 points and still make top 2 in group, but they'll play with full strength to avoid Slovakia to come near 5 points lead at all. So Russia will win today, that's no mistery, but by how many points of difference is mistery for me.

Swedish sensation is in a chance to reach final, but I think that is not going to happen. Not that Sweden have no chances, not that they are not better than odds around 3.00 shows, not that they didn't beat Spain week ago, but they simply play against home team and not only quality of teams matters. Plus maybe they took them on surprise in first game, now Spanish coach surely sent his assistants to study Swedish plays this time. Around 1.30 on Spain win is not worth a shot IMO because of mentioned Spanish defeat last week. As for under/over, I think Spain cannot score more than 65 due to good Swedish defence and same way I think Sweden cannot score more than 60 due to good Spanish defence. So I'm expecting at most 65-60, something like 60-55 probably, 55-50 in case of good defences. Under 118.5 have more than 51% IMHO but not much more, so I'll skip it too.

Once again I agree with bookies about final outcome and margin of the win, but this time I think there's gonna be more points than they suggest (127.5 margin so they expect 68-59 score). Serbia played only against Sweden out of 5 top teams (semifinalists + France) and Sweds were without their best player Frida Eldebrink in that game. So it's can be said kind of a they haven't been tested yet. But one thing you cannot took away from them is their high scoring. Playing against defensively minded team or not, playing serious game or one after already qualified for next round, they regularly score over 70 points, 5 out of 6 times. Against Germany 79 points, Germany tournament average is 63 allowed points, against Belarus 63/54, Hungary 72/62, Belgium 75/71, Sweden 75/56, Lithuania 76/63. Czech defence is not so bad, but they allow high (compared to other 4 top teams) 63 points because they're "score more points" team primarily. I have no reason not to believe Serbia will be around of their average of 73 points this time in faster than average game. Of course, Czech will score more than 47 points Serbia is allowing to their opponents. It's not that Serbia plays best defence in the world, but opponents were weak or weakened. But if I apply similar logic, I see still Serbia allows opponets to score average 8 points less than their tournament average of scoring is. Germany scored 27 / their tournament average is 54, Belarus 54/59, Hungary 43/53, Belgium 57/62, Sweden 51/59, Lithuania 49/61. So IMO Czech Republic is going to score between 60 and 68 points, let's say 64 so I have 137 points, about 10 more than bookie. Reason I beleive Czech are not going to score more than 68 points is that Serbians allow only 8 offensive rebounds to their opponents in 6 tournament games. It might be less points than expected due to importance of game, but on the other hand it is compensated by fact that if result will be close or near close we'll see lot of free throws in last minute.

Bulgaria had two close wins over Slovakia and Poland that are now in 13th - 16th place group and lost other four games by double digits margin, by between 13 and 18 points. France that is best team out of semifinals should beat Bulgaria with more than 10 points too. France to cover 14.5 points is 50%-50% shot I would say. If it was 10.5 points I would say 75% chances for France to cover it and back France and if it was 18.5 I would say Bulgaria is worth a shot as France might not play this one with full strength, but once again bookies outsmarted me.

Here we have Hungary that lost all 4 games to top 5 teams and win other two and Lithuania that was equally successful, 3 losses to top teams and 3 win versus others. So, there is nothing much to separate those two teams. Lithuania scores more and rebounds more so it's logical they're favourites. But given the fact that Hungary in quarterfinal round playing against 3 strong teams actually increased their poor field goal shooting percentage remaining high free throws percentage giving them 58 points per game, I see this game much closer affair than bookies do. Not enough for shot on Hungarian win, but I see some value in +5.5 on Hungary.

Germany does not belong here, they're for 13th place down. But, first they caught Poland on their bad day, Poland missing 20 of first 22 field goal attempts meanwhile committing 21 turnovers so Germany led 35-9 at middle of 2nd quarter yet managed to almost lost game. In next game Germany commited only 9 turnovers against Turkey as opposed to their 24 average in other five games and that was enough for another surprise win and positioning them at 12th place or better. It's gonna be hardly for them to be better than 12th place as Belarus scores more points, receievs less, rebounds more, turnovers less, shoots better for 2 points ... in fact only thing Germany is better in is 3-points shooting percentage which doesn't matter much as they attempt only 7 per game scoring 2 of them. Teams met in group phase and Belarus won by 12 points which I think is more realistic difference than bookies 8.5 offered. I'm not afraid Belarus will take this game unserious as they are small country in basketball world so it's difference to them if they're 9th - 10th or 11th - 12th. They'll go for win, they'll take win and I estimate them to have more than 60% chances for win by 9 or more points.

Greece lost all their 6 games by 12 points or more averagely losing by 27 points margin. There is no doubt they'll loss 2 more to finish last 16th. As I said in previous posts, Poland is very unpredictable, just see variations in some of their statistical colons: 2 points shooting from 24% to 55%, 3 points shooting from 6% to 57%, assists from 2 to 14, turnovers from 19 to 35. No way to estimate how big or small will be Polish winning margin.

I don't see Belgium as bad as bookies. Yes, they had two blowout losses and they have only 2 wins against weak Greece and Germany. But in other two games they lost with less than 10 points. Slovakia won Czech, but neighbours let them win as they already qualified to quartrerfinals, and in previous game they resisted well to Russia, led at halftime, but scored only 12 points in 2nd half. This is game of big importance, loser goes to Division B, winner avoids relegation, so I expect one team to snap. And if it that really happens final result will be either Slovakian win by 20+ or Belgian surprise win.

Greece lost 7 out of 7 matches with average difference of 25 points. Lowest losing margin was 12 points, they lost to Belgium week ago by 38 points. Belgium lost 5 matches, won 2 matches including 79-41 win over Greece week ago. I don't believe Belgium will win by 38 points this time, but if they could win by 38 points first time, I believe they can win by 6+ points this time.

Those two team met first day of the tournament and they're meeting again 9 days later at last day of the tournament. Poland won first game closely (54-51) just like bookies assumed. Still is Poland little better than Slovakia, but Poland is very unpredictable, so I'll continue to skip betting on their matches.
11th place Germany - Russia 15:00 CET
Russia is much stronger, at least for 12.5 points, but it seems to me they don't take serious this 9th - 12th place competition. So no bet for me.
9th place Belarus - Turkey 17:15 CET
Well, Turkey have 3 wins and 3 losses and all games were close, largest win was by 9 points and largest loss by 7 points. Belarus have same 3-3 score, lost to Serbia by 9 (closest any team came to finalists and gold medail favourites, others lost by 17+ ponts), lost to Russia by 3 and lost to Hungary by 2. So although Belarus is not immune on losses, they tend to loss by small margin. For that reason and fact that stats of teams are very similar, I suppose we'll see close game here.

7th place Bulgaria - Hungary 12:45 CET
This two teams somehow managed to qualify to quarterfinals and there their ambitions stopped. Both teams lost next 4 games, both by average difference of 15 points, both showing no fighting spirit. Now they play for 7th place, meaning they play for nothing. Pass.
5th place France - Lithuania 15:00 CET
France is best team out of medails battle and bored playing with this much weaker teams for 5th place. So they found way to make it more funnny, they're playing to promote their best player Endene Miyem to best scorer of the tournament. Yesterday she played all 40 minutes (average for previous 6 games was 27 minutes), shot 22 balls (average for previous 6 games was 13 balls) and scored 28 points (average for previous 6 games was 15.5 points). Now she's second on the list with only 2 points total less than Turkish star Caglar (18-year old already played on U-20 championship this summer). So we can expect 80+ points for France, 25+ points for Miyem and win for France as they will not rest players. They made meaningless game interesting to themselves! And to me as I have no doubt they're much better than Lithuania but motivation was questionable. France won first game against Lithuania pretty easy, although final score says +8 only it was 29-4 for France after 12.5 minutes played.

3rd place Sweden - Czech Republic 17:15 CET
Both teams dreams about finals were brutally grounded yesterday after heavy losses, Spain won Sweden by 64-45 and Serbia crushed Czech Republic by 81-48. As Swedish expectations were much lower before championship they'll recover psychologically much better, bronze medail is still big thing for them. On the other side, physically Czech should be in advantage having much deeper roster while Sweds plays mainly with 6 players. Anything can happen in this game, so I'll just skip it. Under seems to be logical as teams combined for 93 points only yesterday, but I'll not buy it because Sweds accepted Bulgarians fast tempo game ago and won it 82-69. And Czech likes to play it fast.
final Spain - Serbia 19:30 CET
Among lot of things I said about beting on over in Serbia - Czech Republic game, at least one was correct, Serbians scored over 70 points again, even over 80 points this time (Czechs almost ruined over bet scoring only 48 ). Against excellent Spanish defence we cannot expect 80 points, maybe not even 70 but for 65+ points I am sure looking at 74 points per game Serbia scores on 48% shooting for 2 points and 33% for 3 points. I'm sure not so much because of that averages but becuase of consistency that led to that numbers, it's 6 out of 7 games they scored over 70 points, not like Russia in one game 101 points, then in next 58. Home team Spain in front of their supporters will not surrender like Czech yesterday, they'll try to keep in touch with Serbians and they can do it only by scoring. So I'm expecting them on 60+ points. And if I would expect them on 55- minus, I would take Serbia to cover -7.0 bet, wouldn't I?

Miyem scored only 17, lost most scoring title by 3 points only, France lost game, I lost some money. Maybe it will be better on U-16 starting next weekend.
