A few weeks ago, Gamebookers came out with a special saying:

Monarchy Elections Yes 3.20 No 1.30 Will Gioul Karahasan be elected for the big nomarchy of Drama-Kavala-Xanthi?

The elections took place on 01. June, so I guess there are some unofficial results available. Would any of our Greek friends be so kind so share them with us?

Thanks in advance!

Isn't that a Turkish name? Karahasan ?
And what kind of monarchy will it be   It's placed in eastern Makedonia and Thrakia, so i don't believe it's something serious. Maybe a joke :? :?

To sum up :
I have no idea about the results :P

Yes it is, one of my betting friends told me that she'd need to win in two out of three districts, while the Turks are majority in only one of the three (Xanthi), and that's why she doesn't stand a chance to actually win.

Thus, I've placed a bet on "No", and I'm becoming really anxious about the outcome.

I will try to find it for you. but it is weird for election to be on the 1st as they are always on sundays in Greece. And Minov, indeed the socialist party suggested a muslim lawyer to represent them in the elections. And there were massive fights for this decision.

Yes, yes
Xpo, from demographic view ( you'll have to believe my wife on this :P ) Turkish present a minority in Eastern Makedonia and Thrace, and they are 1/3 of total population in these district.
There are some slavs in prefecture of Drama, but the majority is Greek, so she will probably lose there, and in Kavala also.

I don't know the political coalitions in Greece very well, but if she'll get only muslim votes, then she'll almost certanly lose !

The elections are on October 15, 2006. This is a canditate for the 2nd degree local elections (Prefecture) of the aerea of Drama-Kavala-Xanthi. This lady is a Greek-Muslim and she is canditate from the Socialist Party of Greece (PASOK). There is alot of talk about her (if she is a Turk or not and if she is so, how a big party of Greece - the 2nd one- has a Turk canditate etc).
She said cleraly that she is Greek Muslim and not Turk, but form the other Political Parties are full desagree with this option and fighting already against this possibility.
Any way, this is a long way for the Greek Elections and my first opinion is that she will lost.
But this is my first opinion and mostly of all we must see the candidate name of the other site to compare them.

Xponat your bet has allready won, just you must wait till october to take your money.
For me Karahasan has no chance to win, just Pasok (Papandreu)put her in these election to approched with muslim minority.Greek politic till now against muslim minotiry wasn't right(as happen in whole BALKANS against every minority and we have a lot work to do to make things better) and is time to correct something here.BUT greek poeple is not ready to election her and either she doesn't feel greeks,so difficult things here.

I thing your bet is pretty safe.
Karahasan has actually no chances to take more than 35% in the elections.
Greek mulsims are enough in Janthi but almost none in the other two perfectures.

all wil be clear in the first fixture (this Sunday).
