View Full Version : Greek League, (FINAL) Round 30, May 13-14th.
All were meant to come down to this: Last round of the Greek League, with the big interest located in the game of OFI vs Leavdeiakos, a game which will decide which team will be relegated. Under "normal" circumstances, Panionios will get the win against Egaleo and be saved, so if OFI wins, they get saved as well. If Levadeiakos manages not to lose on Crete, OFI will be relegated. As for CL places, champion Olympiakos is one, while AEK should lose to Xanthi, provided that Panathinaikos wins Larisa (aiming for the 7th leading to Intertoto), to lose the 2nd place, which is almost impossible to happen. Atromitos goes at Akratitos and a win there, provided that Larisa doesn't win Panathinaikos, means 7th place which leads to Intertoto Cup. The full schedule is the following, along with the opening odds of Expekt:
May 13
Iraklis - Kallithea (16.45 cet)
1.30-4.50-9.00
May 14th
PAOK - Apollon Kalamarias (16.45 cet)
1.75-3.25-4.50
Egaleo - Panionios (16.45 cet)
7.00-5.25-1.30
OFI Crete - Levadiakos (16.45 cet)
1.65-3.20-5.50
Olympiakos CFP - Ionikos Nikeas (16.45 cet)
1.25-4.60-12.00
AEK Athens - Xanthi (19.00 cet)
1.25-4.40-14.00
Larisa - Panathinaikos (19.00 cet)
3.30-3.35-2.00
Akratitos - Atromitos (19.00 cet)
7.40-4.00-1.40

OFI Crete - Levadiakos
Pick: OFI (-1) @ 2.20 at bet-at-home
Well, the big match has come. If Levadiakos don't lose they stay in the first division. If OFI wins with 1 goal difference there is an extra game and the loser is relegated. So OFI need not only to win, but to win with 2 goals at least. This is why I would like to bet on OFI with hc. I think that if OFI win they will do it i style with high score and many goals. PAgkritio will be full with fans from all over Crete and this is great advantage for OFI. Moreover, OFI have experienced players such as Machlas, Oforiquaye, Deyanov and they have the tradition to win these final round life or death matches. Of course Levadiakos will not surrender. They will fight for their saviour and who knows, maybe with some set pieces they will score. Difficult game, but I like this OFI hc.
BTW, if OFI will win this with the same 1-0 (as Leva won 1st match), then OFI will be saved?

if ofi wins 1-0 2-1 3-2 4-3 15-14 they will play an extra game in neutral ground and the winner will be saved.

no, Levadeiakos will be relegated if they lose with any score, because they are the last in the special table which will be formed with the teams having 31 points (Ionikos, OFI, Levadeiakos), and where the matches between these 3 teams will determine who will relegated. And in the assumption of OFI defeating Leva and Olympiacos defeating Ionikos, Levadeiakos will have 4 points, OFI 7 points and Ionikos 5 points, so the former two are saved.

You must be real crazy to bet on any team in the last round... 8O . the only banker for this weekend is Panionios but only a ferw bookies offer it and the odds are ridiculous (bookers are not stupid  ). Having in mind that our league is not the clearest of all I would propose you a very nice and profitable combo. This combo relies on the good relations betwenn some clubs and on the scenario that evertyhing will be decided at the last minutes ofthe games. I would choose :
Larisa - Panathinaikos X (Halftime)
Akratitos - Atromitos X (Halftime)
Egaleo - Panionios 2
Let's go to the first game. Panathinaikos prays for a lose for AEK to steal the second place which leads at Champions League. This scenario is almost impossible since I cannot see AEK losing the match against no motivation (and on hoilidays) Scoda Xanthi. But just because hope dies last they will be very carefull and they will be waiting. If AEK take the lead then everything finishes. Pao is third and why not to help Larisa (just the way they did Olympiakos at the previous round?) which are after Intertoto place? There are quite similarities with the game Levadiakos - Olympiakos. Larisa's coach is George Donis former Pao's player (just like Takis Lemonis) , Larisa needs the poiints while (in case of an AEK's win) Pao doesn't. So both of them will have their ears to OAKA and the result will be decided at the second half.
Next game is Akratitos - Atromitos. Akratitos already in the second division and Atromitos needs larisa to drop points Panathinaikos in order to take the Intertoto ticket?
Question 1: Do they really want to go to the Intertoto Cup? No ones in Atromtios speaks about it.
So if Larisa wins then Atromitos have nothing to play for and they will play free, If Larisa is behind the score then the result of Atromtios is depending on the fact "do they want to play footabll in the middle of the summer"?. Probably this match will be decided at the last minutes in combination with the match at Alkazaar.
In conclusion the first halfs of both matches will be very boring and I believe that both they will finish draw. Of course I cannot recommend more than 1/10 stakes on this combo but worths a try...
As concerns the third match what can we say? We have one of the worst team in the league playing against a quite solid team away and the away win gives 1,30... 8O Yes , what you think is correct but I cannot write it down cos' again the mods will edit my post... But I dare one moderator who edited our posts two weeks ago to explain the odds.... And if he has an acceptable explanation I promise not to speculate about fixed matches in the futute... I'm waiting...
But do not forget what I said at the beginning. DO NOT BET on our league last two rounds. The teams are quite "unpredictable" and the surprises will be more than we expect...
olympiacos wants ofi to get relegated. probably ofi will win levediakos. if olympiacos beats ionikos and ofi wins levadiakos ofi gets saved. if olympiacos gets only 1 point with ionikos and ofi wins with only 1 goal then we will have play-offs between ofi and levediakos to find which team will get relegated. olympiacos' players will do anything to get ofi relegated so despite of playing the last match with their supporters having bought all the match's tickets they will give 1 point to ionikos!!! :D
iraklis-kalithea
iraklis showed that they are a masterfull team when at home.they won the 3 biggest teams in greece in there.(panathinaikos-olympiacos-aek athens). kalithea has already been relegated to the 2nd category and so there is not any actual reason to play and try to win. iraklis' players want to take this last game and so to give their supporters much joy!!!!!
pick: hw
stakes: 9/10

Yes, this is true, I forgot about Ionikos.
I don't believe that Olympiakos will win Ionikos. This is my next pick. They have tradition when they celebrate the championship they don't win teams like Veroia, Kalamaria etc...

Totally true. Everything before the game is purely theoretical. But you cant go on with fingers crossed everytime. Adjust your play so that no unfortunate outcome can ruin the profit of a big period of effort, month, year, etc... So, no i won't bet my house on Olympiakos, but this should be some great combo material, if you ask me...

Atromitos president, Spanos, said that they aim to win play at Intertoto, so why not trust him and take Atromitos? Moreover i read that Akratitos will miss some players, too....
can see real value at the combination of Panionios-Atromitos and Olympiakos.
Olympiakos - Ionikos 0-0 FT.
Another fixed game from the champions, another disgracefully set up result, only in order to make OFI's life harder... I would say exact the same no matter the team and this sequence of results, depicts not only Olympiakos' lousy mentality, but greek soccer's amateurish and naughty ways in general. This is no news of course, but in this instance, i'm not talking about Panionios, this is something you could expect, i'm talking about the greek champions, saying that real big teams set up games for better purposes.
Bottomline: 9 units lost, many more euros wasted, last rounds have really disgusted me fellas. [/quote]

Yes, nice work Olympiakos. Handicap dropped big in asia, also rumours for easy win here for the last match of season. All failed in one clear fixed game, Olympiakos was no where on field, no ideas, all went wrong today and never believed that Olympiakos will draw to make OFI's job harder. It was in my mind but it wasn't logical for champions to fixed two in a row games. Anyway, strange things happens always...
Have a nice summer from Greece. We are back with Intertoto and Atromitos who plays for that turnament.

Man probably you live in Greece and you know the greek mentality... Olympiakos just wanted to make his life easier just as Panathinaikos' life is whenever Pao goes at Iraklion... That was the reason of Olymmpiakos defeat at Levadia , that was (probably) the reason of today's draw. I wrote probably cos' Olympiakos have a tradition in spoiling celebrations parties at the end of the season  It was a common secret that the last two rounds in Greece were totally No Bet... I shouted it every single day... My friend you must not be upset about the Olympiakos fixed games... You must be worried about the teams that we will send to Europe next year and all Europe problably will laugh at us   Atromitos , AEK (today AEK was a team from third division) in Europe
Hi, a question. The 3 first teams of division B goes automatically to first division?
Thanks.

Well, if have good memmory and you can recall some things, you should remember that Olympiakos had allready celebrated 3 times the championship in Karaiskaki, and all these times he had not won. He had lost to Veroia, drawn to Ethnikos and another that I can't remember now. Why should he win today, against Ionikos(one of Piraeus teams) and against OFI? It was an easy X2 pick. Also OFI's handicap was another sure pick. This was one of the easiest Greek rounds. Looking forward to next year...

Man, my main worry is greek football right now (that includes of course your realization) and how crappy it is in many aspects. Problems have been analyzed, have been disputed, but there are less done each time, after all promises fade away. When the champion of your country, behaves in such an amateurish, low-minded, short-term way, then it is no wonder why they lose big time every ****ing season in europe. Is it bad luck? Of course the media will play their game, our teams will be worse every year, as they have been in recent history and nothing will do anything because we are so short-term so narrow-minded. This is not soccer, this is something else, but not real soccer. AEK was below average all season, in fact they were very bad at most cases, too bad. Panathinaikos was suicidal once again, making experiments all season, as if the team is Panathinaikos B team or something. Olympiakos won the league with engines off, performing average, but still a bit better than other two. Iraklis was spectacular at home, another team away, as most teams. Next season in Europe is certain that will have our country off 8th place in rankings and even below 10th. I guess we will be celebrating Euro2004 until we convince ourselves it's over. Until then, greek soccer, mentality, everything except a few things will be crappy.
P.S: I will never forget coach Paraschos loud statements after the game of Atromitos vs Panionios 1-3 FT two roudns ago. Atromitos took the lead on the 60th minute almost accidentally and Panionios scored three times till the 70th against an absent defence in an obvious set up game to save Panionios, as it actually happened. The fans of Atromitos renegaded and cursed at the players and coach because of the disgrace. After the game, a furious coach Paraschos made serious complaints for the fans and told that he will be leaving in the end of the season cause of the fans' behaviour, as he said the team did everything they could and told the people not to make up conspiracies. 3 days later he renewed his contract having already forgotten the game.
Everyone is part of the game, it's our own private theatre... I don't care if i, an Olympiakos fan, will lose 1-4 to Rosenborg in the opening game at home, or 1-4 from Lyon at same ground some rounds after, as long as next round i'll prevail in Nikaia trashing Ionikos 0-4. As long as i win against Ionikos, Panionios, Kallithea, Akratitos, etc, i feel secure and confident. When i can't do that, the ref will finish the job or give a little push in the back, big deal, this is Greece. And this is our success stories.
So, let's celebrate for our big successes, let's beat ourselves up with guys from other teams, let's accept and not react and forget every Friday all our bad results in european cups, cause they're not worth it, on Sunday there is another great quality and fascinating round of greek league for all of us to enjoy. Cheers mates!

maybe you should be more carefull when you characterize a game of 1.30 in the last greek round, which is more a party and a fest than a football match as a banker. The game was shouting that it is a blof. I thank Olympiakos team. Their games against Larisa Levadiakos and now Ionikos added a really great sum of money into my account. Really very easy X2 for me.
And as it concerns this game, you tried to be a smartass earlier and you went down... That's how betting is. We are all waiting for opportunities like this game.

Guys as long as there is bets , there will be fixed games... Even Juventus , Milan , Fiorentina , Bayern (do not forget Sweinsteiger) fix games. Why not we   . Anyway I agree with most of xaralas said... Olympiakos won the double not because they were better but because the other competitiors were pathetic... The gap between Olympiakos and the other teams become bigger and bigger that's why when Olympiakos loses from Levadiakos we shout that the game was fixed... Because in normal circumstances Olympiakos even with the B-team (Georgatos , Taralidis , Kafes regular cos Rivaldo was ill , Danni , Mbamba-quinta) they must win with 3-4 goals difference... Guys I cannot see an end to our tunnel as long as there are not enough money to build a competitive team , or as long as we do not throw away our mentality which says that we make a team in just 30 days in order to take the championship. That's why we cannot make talents just like Spain or Holland does... Because we want ready players , mature enough to through them on the field in order to win immediatley against Olympiakos , Panathinaikos or AEK without having in mind what to do next year...
Happy cos' Olympiakos double , unhappy for the low level of greek football and its dark future....
PS. maybe it is better to send less teams to Europe the following years. If only three teams from the table + one from the cup get european ticket then maybe we will see some more competitive championship cos' this year with just 42 points you could get a european ticket... If only 3 teams would have got european ticket theu would have needed 51 points  more wins  better football... That's why I am not unhappy for reducing the teams that will participate to Europe in the season 2007-2008... Anyway good luck with the other leagues from now on till August....
PAOK not allowed to take part in Uefacup because of financial reasons, instead of them Atromitos will play now ...
