I'm opening this thread early because I'm going out, but I'll keep it locked meanwhile so nobody mix up the threads. Moderators, please unlock it later (after 23.00)!

A lot of games this Saturday and I hope we can set a new record of number of picks!

Don't forget to check the STANDINGS (http://www.bettingadvice.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=10903) now and then, because I often write personal messages to contestants there.

Good luck!

I would appreciate if Koffieboer or anyone else could check Friday's picks and update the standings later.

Ok, the pick i first published is for Sunday and i keep making mistakes!!!!!

So, i change it with a Saturday one!

Proodeftiki (1 3/4) -Olympiakos (0) Asian Handicap - Away - 1.90

Olympiakos is really worried bout this game. The officials know that a bad result will cause serious problems prior the important game with Sociedad for CL. The fans will be furious too...

So, Olympiakos will use full squad for this game, at least till the team scores. Proodeftiki will defend and defend, i think it's a matter of time when will concede the first goal. If this happens early, then the margin of the handicap will be easy to cover!

Good luck.

I logged in right in time to present my POTD for 13th september

Chelsea - Tottenham 1 1.50

IMO,Chelsea is very near EPL trophy this year, while Tottenham is significantly in worse position than last year. Victory in first round showed that Chelsea is going to fight for title ... and of course their chairman with his "everything is OK,and if it isn`t I just don`t care" face.
After all the stars,Crespo joined the team , and if we judge the team only by quality of the players,Chelsea is maybe "numero uno".But this is obviously not enough for the team to win EPL ... or it is enough? I know one thing - if they want to take the title , they should win matches like this.My money will be on Chelski this time.

I waited so long for my second pick... and it will be :

Lokeren - Anderlecht 2 1,67

Anderlecht have great start with 4 wins out of for games and on the other side Lokeren have 2 draws and 2 looses. Anderlecht are willing to take the title as their last was in 00/01 season. Basseggio, Jestrovic, Mornar and of course new signing Par Zetterberg from Olympiakos Piraeus are all in very good form and they should win this game over Lokeren.

Chelsea(-1.5)-Tottenham(+1.5) 1 odds:2.30

We know all there is to say about Chelsea and their players. Spurs are still missing some ke players. Crespo`s first game and first hat-trick   Totenham have a lot of troubles this year....last year....the year before..... always a mid-table team and that will not change this year. I see Chelsea winning 2-0. Sure they have CL match but with thise players.......

Damn, I am late again....looks like i need to wake up at 5am to be able to post my fav pick  but wat the heck...this is my 'next' best

Match: Nottingham Forest(-1/4) v Sheffield United(+1/4)
Pick: Away +1/4
Odds: 1.80

Comments: Ok, yes Nottingham are one of the hot favs to go up. But, let us not forget that Sheffield are also one of the hot-favs to go up and also that Nottingham has had a rather inconsistent start to the new season. I rateSheffield in the band with West Ham and WBA. They are that good I tell ya. Last season's cup appearances were certainly no fluke and they even had Arsenal look like dummies at times. They have retained almost their entire squad and are no less strong this season. With a water-tight defence, they just have to score 1 or 2 goals to win matches. Here, they meet a wild card in Nottingham. You just do not know which Nottingham would turn up, one they can thrash the most worthiest of promotion candidates, and the next day lose to relegation favorites. However, I am certainly looking forward to Sheffield to do an efficient job in containing Nottingham and could very likely steal all 3 points as Nottingham do have laspes of concentration quite often.

I believe that Chelsea won't beat easily Tottenham...
Tottenham always plays bad with the 'small' teams and very hard against the 'big' ones...
Also, Chelsea's players have their minds and in champion's league...

I will go for Chelsea's win but after the first 45'...
So, HT-FT : X-1 for me... maybe 1-0 or 2-1...

GOOD LUCK TO ALL

Millwall to beat Watford @ 2,50

Watford are missing two out of three strikers, their third-string is the only one healthy and he's a youngster.
Millwall are looking to bounce back after a defeat vs Gillingham 4-3, that loss hurt. Also Muscat could return for Milwall. Both teams are from the London area so plenty of travelling support for Millwall and three points against a Watford side that has not found their way yet.

After few years of playing in Serie B, Sampdoria is again a member of elite squad. They took one point in the first match against Reggina, despite the 2 goals lead for Reggina. Lazio had very good last season, they will play in the Champions League this autumn after defeating Benfica in the Qualifiers. They also started in this year’s Championship very well with 4-1 win against Lecce. And in my opinion, they should win this match either!!!

So, my prediction is: SAMPDORIA-LAZIO ROMA -- AWAY WIN @2.3

Today's strongest pick seems to be Blsany vs Teplice Away Win @ 1.75
First of all they are playing in neutral ground(pribram's stadium)...where Blsany has suffered nothing else but losses...2 weeks ago the draw against the leader of the table Brno was an outstanding result for them, probably the biggest surprise in whole Europe...Teplice this year performs really well both home and away(unlike last year when it was a classic home team),Blsany will miss their best defender and believe me this team doesn't have the luxury to have unavailable players cause they don't have many substitutes...I would bet H/T A/A but this option isn't available in Gamebookers...

My pick of the day is:

Norwich-Burnley 1 @1.85

Norwich is a great home team, and as we all know due to bad finish of the last season they failed to enter in promotion play offs.
This year they will try not to fail reaching at least play offs. Will they do that?We can only wait and see.
If they want good place on the table, they need this home win.
They are usually great at home, and a lot of us trust them in home matches, and I will of course.

I don't see that mediocre team like Burnley can win here at least 1 point, that would be mission impossible for even stronger teams than Burnley!

Any way, home win,I just can't see something else here!

Good luck!

Walsall v Derby County Half Time 2.55 2.05 3.65

Walsall is a strong hometeam and they showed it in the first league match, with a win by 4-1 against West Bromwich. But since then they haven't won a match, but now they are gonna face Derby the bottom team and I think they can win this one. Derby isn't in form at all, 5 matches since Div.1 start and still without a win. Can't think they can stand against strong Walsall at theirs homeground and should be "an easy" win for Walsall!

My Pick from Scotland League:

Rangers Vs. Dunfermline Over 2.5 Goals @1.45

Rangers Had won both home games so far with scoring more than 3 goals in both (4-0 & 5-2 respectively)

Visitor Dunfermline is missing 3 main players and will be in for a Trashing.

A H2H shows that most of the games between the 2 teams ended more than 3 goals and I believe the trend will continue.

__________________________________________________ _________
FYI Only: I will also be on a a Trixie; (Odds from GB)
Rangers over 2.5 goals @1.45
Celtics over 2.5 goals @1.60
Hereford (Eng Conf.) win @1.50
(3 doubles & 1 Treble = 4 bets 1000 Euro each)

I am quite confident of the 3 picks above.
-Computer guy had written about hereford charging for Div. 3 next season
-Rangers & Celtics normally end up scoring >3 goals most of the matches, Dundee will also be missing their best striker , Spainaird "Navo" thru injury.

Wish me Luck

I don't see many "picks of the day" today, betting on the round between exausting two qual. games and important 1-st round of CL. Many favourites will rest their key (and tired) players for CL games, so i see today a lot of "surprises".So, i will bet on :

Charlton Athletic vs. Man. Utd. 1x @ 2.14

IMO Charlton is underestimated by the bookies, and not only in this game (which i think we should cash during the season :) ).They became a great team after few years of excellent managament by Alan Curbishley, Reds play very attractive attacking football with some great players like Claus Jensen, Jason Euell,Scot Parker and now even strenghtened with Paolo di Canio, and Mat Holland :!: They didn't play very well this season so far, except that storming 4-0 win against Wolves, so i think they have to produce some good results soon. And there's not better chance to prove you're good than beating the reigning champions :!:
I don't like United this season. They sold Beckham and Veron and didn't bring players that can substitute them with no afects on result. Not that Ronaldo, Cleberson and Djemba-Djemba are not good enough, but they need time to adapt to the squad, english football, stile of living...Rio Ferdinand is unlikely to play, Scholes is definitely out,and Giggs,Van Nistelrooy,Forlan,Silvestre played for their national team.United has also some inside problems with Peter Kenyon leaving to Chelsea, but i don't think this will affect the game much.
I hope this wasn't too long or boaring :)

Pick No. 6: /ENG1/: West Ham - Reading - 2, odds: 3.65 @ GB

I'm starting with the news from the "Hammers", quote teamtalk.com:
Defender Wayne Quinn is likely to go straight into West Ham's starting line-up against Reading following a one-month loan move from Newcastle.
The left-back comes in as an emergency replacement for Rufus Brevett, who may not play again this year after breaking a bone in his foot.
Midfielder Rob Lee is rated doubtful to return from medial ligament damage.
Steve Lomas could be back in six weeks after undergoing a knee operation in Holland.
Niclas Alexandersson could be involved after arriving from Everton on a one-month loan deal.
Also the "Hammers" want to sign namely Reading's coach Alan Pardew but they find it extremely difficult as Reading are unwilling to let him go.

We see many new people may start for the home team which I think will not work our from the very first game and they have against themselves very solid team, favourite to promotion Reading. I remember very well that they had ONLY 1 draw last year so I will not cover on draw. I think both teams are even and odds of 3.60 and more for Reading are just value (also including the current situation in West Ham).

Reading news: /quote teamtalk.com/
Reading caretaker manager Kevin Dillon is unlikely to make any changes to a winning side when he takes charge at West Ham.
The Royals are unbeaten in six league and cup games under Alan Pardew's management, but Dillon has been at his side throughout and has had a strong influence on team selection.
With Kevin Watson recovered from an ankle injury, Dillon has the luxury of a fully-fit squad to choose from.
Adie Williams, Steve Sidwell and Omar Daley are all available after being away on international duty with Wales, England Under-21s and Jamaica respectively.
Leading scorer Shaun Goater will line up in attack alongside Nicky Forster.

I don't know for you guys, but according to all this information it seems clear away win to me. 8/10 confidence, great odds.

I will take a DRAW but not easy to decide whether

Racing Santander v Real Sociedad DRAW @3.20
Or
Adanaspor v Diyarbakirspor DRAW @3.20

I'm not sure whether DIYARBAKIR will win here. So DRAW can be risky...
And ADASPOR needs to score at home.. But fans don't want to see this team.. I think about 2000 fans will be the max number today...

DRAW looks good for ADANASPOR..
And
for the other match in PRIMERA ;

Do i think that Benayoun is too good.. And SOCIEDAD will never be the same !!!

Even if NIHAT play one day again...

The DRAW there looks nice too..

Odds for both are @3.20 ..

AFL (AUstralian Football)

Port Adelaide - Essendon 1 1.40

Port Adelaide goes into this game with the most motivation that any team has in the past 5 years of AFL. Last week they lost to Sydeny when heavy favourites. To drop the tag of choakers they will have to beat an Essendon team that has lost its key defender Dustin Fletcher through suspension. Essendon have done well to make it this far with an impressive win in Fremantle last week. Had this game been played during the day I would have given this game a 50/50 billing. However the night conditions and a partisan crowd along with the need to win will guide Port to a comfortable win.

Samsunspor - Istanbulspor 1 2.60

Istanbulspor is league leader with 4 wins but all signs show that they will lose points today.
Sure they have 4 wins but 2 of them were against newly promoted teams and one against Adana was very tough match.Besides they miss Bolic for today's game, an excellent striker. The team is always under financial crisis , they even went to Samsun by bus that means 11 hour journey...

On the other hand, Samsunspor has not any important player missing for this game, and Serkan Aykut is in great form.

During the week Olympiakos president (Mr Kokkalhs) made some statements against AEK and this made the club think that Mr. Kokkalhs considers them as the major competitor in the race for the title...Mr Bajevic said that the primary target for AEK this year is the championship and the game against Iraklhs is very important for his team.Iraklis without Mahlas and Murati (two key players) may have problem against a good AEK...

Charlton - Man Utd - 2 1.57

I think it's time for Manchester United to win this time. They lost away to Southampton in last round and they just can't accept losing more points to their rivals for first place (Arsenal and Chelsea) who will probably win again. They are missing some players but I think van Nistelrooy will make sure that his team will get 3 points for sure.

Schuttler vs Kuerten 1 @1.88

Great value in theese odds!!! Schuttler is playing great tennis all year long(boring but great)! I think Guga hasn't got what it takes at the moment to beat the fiesty german! Even tough it is played in Brasil and the whole crowd being behind Guga I can't see him win now! Guga also hasn't played many tournaments in the last couple of months and on the other side Schuttler has played many. I see a clear win for Schuttler!

Inverness CT v Ayr United

Inverness @ 1.61

Inverness is a very strong team, scoring freely at home especially now when Barry Wilson is back, and a poor team from Ayr will take a thrashing today from a very angry Inverness (angry because of a very unexpected loss in the Cup match, they had lots of time to put this loss behind them, and Ayr are a perfect opponent to do this)

Iraklis v AEK over 2.5 goals @1.83

These two sides (together with the team I support), play the most attacking football in Greece and its always fun to watch them games.
Moreover, its more than 150 matches from the last time that an AEK match finished scoreless (0:0), and the history of the contests between these two sides in Saloniki is full of goals:

95-96 1:3
96-97 2:2
97-98 1:4

FC Nordjylland - Randers FC 2 @ 2.25
Newly promoted Nordjylland against the team I see as the hottest team in the Division right now. Moody striker Mogens Laursen have found new life in his childhood club and he just keeps on scoring for Randers. Recently reinforcements have been brought in to fill the missing holes - and Randers look like a complete team. Nordjylland have also brought in a few new faces and can boast a 2-1 victory over local Superliga-rivals Aalborg during the break. However, Nordjylland lacks the depth of Randers undelined by the 0-3 defeat at the hands of Fremad Amager in their last homematch - this should be a pretty straightforward win for the guests.

Elche - Herez : PICK home @ 2,25

Elche is supposed to finish at the first places this year and this is obvious
since the team has taken this year named and experienced players as Acuna, Djorovic, Tasevski and some others. But they have to prove that the team is ambitious vs Herez , a mediocre team for this year, two draws
so far which didnt show something special so far.
Lets go for the first win of Elche, some possibility of draw but l will go for straight win.

Good luck to all.

Stranraer to beat E.Stirling @1,44

E.Stirling are complete outsiders in Div.3, started really poor gathering 2 point only with two draws at home soil. They lost convincingly both matches away and this time it will be very difficult for them to win something out it it because Stranraer seem to be on rising trend after away win over strong Peterhead. Stranraer have had potentially stronger opponnets so far and were praised by all coaches so I come to the conclusion that are much stronger than their position in the table would suggest. This match is excellent opportunity for them to join the top-teams in the division.

LILLE - MONACO 2 2,50@LADBROKES
Explanatoin by Francesco in French setcion

Strands, you may have missed some new rules - the competition is sponsored by Gamebookers, so it's Gamebookers bets only.
Also we are no longer allowed just to link an explanation to a tipster analysis, just the tipster himself can do that.
If you want to take a tipster bet you have to write your own explanation for why it's a good bet.

Hence I doubt your pick for today will be allowed to stand, so either pick another one or check the Gamebookers odds for Monaco and write your own analysis.

Marseille-Le Mans HT/FT 1/1 @1.90

I fully agree with Jolemalin here, but since he took the straight and safer bet on Marseille, I will go for the HT/FT-bet. I think this looks safer than a -1.5 handicap on Marseille.
Marseille is normally several classes better than Le Mans, they show much better form and they are much stronger at home. I really think Marseille will put the petal to the metal right from the start and walk all over Le Mans.

I think Sociedad will have problems in Santander. The away team will miss three important players: Nihat, Xavi Alonso and De Pedro. I think Sociedad will be a top team this year as well, but I don't expect them to fight for the title at the end of the season. Santander isn't a good team, but with highly motivated players I think they have a good chance to beat Sociedad today. This bet is pretty much based on the absent players in Sociedad.

I'm going for Racing Santander on level ball @ 1.85.

Grenoble-Istres 1 @2.55

I am little bit late, but believe me game has not started yet.

Well, the explanation for pick is simple: Grenoble is not that bad as look, and I still think Istres is not that good as may look. I think it's just matter of time when they are start to go down.
Grenoble first win, Istres first lost.

Boston Red Sox to beat Chicago White Sox @1,8

Since I didn't stick to "one-hour rule" (sorry for my mistake) my pick for Sat. is Boston. Both teams are heading in opposite directions, Red Sox won last 3, White Sox lost last 3.I think, the streaks are continued more often in MLB than in any other US sport...Boston's Wakefield did great against Yankees in last game and should build on it tonight. Boston is 5-1 imn the past six meetings and 8-3 in its last eleven home. CWS right-hand Colon is 0-2 against Red Sox this season and what's worse for him- Boston's batters hit righties impressive .303 in last 10.
