View Full Version : Pick of the day 7/9
I'm going out now, so I will have to create this topic now. The negative thing about it is that some people mix up the threads when I create the new one early. I hope this won't happen this time.
I found many interesting picks today with some well-written predictions too and I hope they will all be successful!
If you haven't posted a pick yet, please read the rules (http://www.bettingadvice.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=10902) first!
The last day to join the competition is on September 15, but then you must post a pick everyday to reach 15 picks.
The first picks will be updated later on Sunday.
http://content.gamebookers.com/images/actual/468_en_actual.gif (http://www.gamebookers.com/)
My pick:
Colombia-Brasil 2 2.00
Brasil with it's best players Ronaldo, Rivaldo, etc. etc. They also have motivation to have a good start for the World Cup qualification. Colombia is OK team but should be no match to the No. 1.
Since straight Brazil win is already taken, I choose:
Colombia v Brazil 1/2:0 AWAY WIN @2.00
I'm not quite familiar with 1/2 handicap so if it is against the rules please just pm me and I'll change my pick.
Explanation: Brazil in strongest squad, with Roberto Carlos, Ronaldo and as far as I know Ronaldinho. Colombia haven't impressed me at all lately. They were playing seriuosly mediodre both in Confederations Cup and i Concacaf's Gold Cup. I think that Brazil will win AT LEAST with 2 goals margin, so this handicap should be enough (since it is less than 1 :) )
I really can`t believe that there aren`t odds for matches of EC in basketball. This is really very bad from the bookie that has "the widest selection of sports".I would take Spain to easily beat S&M.
:!: I think you have to wait just a bit. Saturday games have just finished, odds compiler need a hatful of sleep and in the early morning you get your odds! Lakini
I was too hurry  .Apologizes to GB.I thought thats omeone will post his pick before me,but all i can see about my POTD is that JK took S&M to win :!: .OK,I agree that odds are small on Spain, but at my LB these are 1.35.
So,S&M is nothing without Bodiroga,`cause we need a leader(who doesn`t?)and the leader isn`t Stojakovic. When it was needed in play-off to take a leadership `cause Webber was injured - Pedja couldn`t do it,so Sacramento lost with Dallas.Very bad performance against total outsider Sweden caused me to consider Spain victory as a POTD.
One more thing - Spain beat S&M at last WC.But remember who played then for S&M,and the Spain has the same team(even better now).IMO,Spain is the favourite of this tournament, and they will surely play final.Gasol is unstoppable, and if Garbajosa would shoot better than S&M will lose with 20+ .
S&M - Spain 2 1.40 .Too bad for not having handicaps .
Irish eircom premier
UCD - Cork 2@1.95
Cork is on the fourth place, have already won twice UCD. UCD is the bottom of the table. Last time Cork won away UCD 0-3. Expect not a difficult game for a Cork.
I try again this time a little early
Denmark Division 2
Hjřrring-Kalundborg HOME WIN @ 2.10
Homeside have faced the top 3 and lost every time. Against more human opponents they usually fare well. New strikers like Ziad Zaliba and Rasmus Borup along with Superliga-hopeful Johnny Helledie have been brought in and the bottom club is actually getting better. Here they meet Kalundborg that will be tired from traveling 6-7 hours in bus across the country. Furthermore they will be without two players normally in the defensive lineup due to suspensions.
My second pick:
Alta-Mandalskameratene... AWAY @1.8
Promotion candidate Mandal is playing the worst team in the league.Mandal came back in 1. division this year and they're doing very well, have great away record 6-2-3.3-placed Fredrikstad is 6 points above them in promotion zone,so here they have a great chance for 3 new points and maybe closing the gap.Alta played 1-1-8 at home with only 8 points won in the whole league (from 21 games :!: ).I don't have team infos but i think Mandal should win this even without their best players.Let's improve the score... :)

I will bet on Brazil too...I think they will find they way to put at least one goal and get the win because Colombia will play defensive as they do every match. Probable scores for me 0-1, 0-2.
But I don't know if Ronaldinho will play because when Real Madrid played their last game, Ronaldo and Roberto Carlos were with their National Team and didn't play against Villareal (2-2)... That night, Barcelona drew at home (1-1) with Sevilla and Ronaldinho equalised for Barca... 8O So maybe he didn't follow his National Team as Ronaldo and Roberto Carlos did....
Can anybody say for sure if Ronaldinho will play or not??
Anyway, within or without him, Brazil can and will win... (2.10) :D

Ok I found the answer alone..... :D
Ronaldinho won't play for sure... :?
Here are the possible starting line-ups (taken from www.Betnews.gr Greek language)
COLOMBIA: Oscar Córdoba - Gonzalo Martínez, Iván Ramiro Córdoba, Mario Yepes y Gerardo Bedoya - John Javier Restrepo, Jorge López, Freddy Grisales, Jairo Patińo y Víctor Aristizábal - Juan Pablo Angel.
Coach: Francisco Maturana.
Brasil: Dida - Cafú, Lucio, Roque Junior y Roberto Carlos - Emerson, Gilberto Silva, Zé Roberto y Alex - Ronaldo y Rivaldo.
Coach: Carlos Alberto Parreira.
Referee: Horacio Elizondo with Claudio Rossi and Jorge Rattalino…
Ahh..didnt notice to this competion before, but now I know and of course I will join to. :D
My first pick will go to Swe Div.2:
Motala - Tidaholms GoIF 2.70 3.70 2.00
Tidaholm is on the run right now, have scored alot of goals lately, won against strong hometeam like Värnamo, draw against the the outstanding leader Jonkoping and cant see they will stop now. Motala is bottom at the table, have not score much goals and cant see how they gonna turn it around against a team who love to score goals. Ig Tidaholm keep on scoring as they have done lately and the win will be theirs.
Match: Shrewsbury Town v Tamworth
Pick: Home Win
Odds: 1.53
Comments: Shrewsbury after relegation from the 3rd division is certainly looking to gain an immediate promotion back up. After a slight glitch away to Chester City-which is not too disgraceful considering they are one of the favorites for promotion, I am still very optimistic about their chances to challenge for promotion. But in the meantime, they face a newly promoted Tamworth who has certainly looked out of its league, together with Accrington. Tamworth would know that they are dead-outsiders in this match and would look for a 0-0 draw or a small loss. Shrewsbury knows that any 'mishap' here would deal their promotion chances a huge blow and it is time for them to continue raking up the points against mediocre opposition such as Tamworth. And I certainly favour them to do just that. A narrow win here for Shrewsbury for me.

hmmmmm... your comments are exactly the same as Dennis Chia's from Globetting. Are you "two" the same person?

Constantinou, this thread is not for posting various information and to wait for answers. :!: Here you just post your best pick of the day (ONE per day, max 15 in a month)- if it is still available - with names of teams (players) involved and odds (you can write league or sport, if you think it is necessary).
Those were few of the rules of "Pick of the day". Tahoma gave link for complete rules, so you can read them carefully by following it.
By the way, Gamebookers don't have odds for any horse races except English. And yesterday was a big race in Ireland.... :( and good old High Chapparal won... :)
My 2nd pick goes for ;
Serbia & Montenegro v Spain ; TAKE SERBIA @2.70 @GB
How great odds for this match !!!
I'm writing now a big analysis for the first 4 matches in each group..
My comments are there..
GASOL , NAVARRO against SERBIA.. SPAIN not a bad team. But they make too easy TO's ..
SERBIA just makes this fault with DROBNJAK...
I think that these odds are too too too high..
Let's kick emm all !!!
I will bet on Brazil too...
...Anyway, within or without him, Brazil can and will win... (2.10) :D
Constantinou, i know u made this pick late in the nite but u have to read the rules (something i guess u haven't done).
You can give only one pick per day (this might change at the end of the competition). Your pick must be different to all other placed picks, but of course you can choose another bet on the same game.
So, Turk has chosen Brazil's straigh win and Fidu tried another bet. If u insist picking Brazil, try something else.
Good luck.
Roddick A. - Ferrero J.C. Ferrero @2.55
Why so high odds on Ferrero??? It's the FINAL! From what i saw yestarday Ferrero should be favourite IMHO... Roddick didn't have a great match yestarday against Nalbadian, and i expext him to have a difficult job against Ferrero, who plays a very good tennis. Roddick was almost beaten, but it was the crowd who helped him, and Ferrero is a much more experienced player than David. He managed to win against Agassi, in a pretty convincing way. I'll take Ferrero here...
Hope my bad luck is gone, cause i had Italy/Italy yestarday... Even they got a 4-0 win, it was 0-0 at HT
GO FERRERO!!
Pick No.2: /GER-REGIONAL/ RW Essen - Wattenscheid - X2 (double chance), odds: 1.66 @ GB
RW Essen have a new coach and everybody is looking forward to how the team will perform under the leadership of Holger Fach - will he be able to revive the team and bring the success to Essen. Unfortunately for this game striker Sasha Wolf will be missing (red card). Betting on games where one of the teams has new coach is always risky but I don't think the "wonder" will come from the very first matches for the home team and I think that they will not be in best shape (tactically) for this game.
On the other hand we have a very serious side (Wattenscheid). Their coach relies to include in the squad the new defender David Klimek.
In the end I guess this will be a very tough match and the away win seems more likely to me. I would have taken it on LVL (0) away win but unfortunately such bet is not present, so I take the double chance on X2 which is fair enough for the current status of both teams.
/source: newspaper "Eurofootball", Bulgaria/
Hi! My choice would be (MLB) Chicago Cubs/Milwaukee Brewers total runs < 8.0 @ 1.83.
The under is 5-4 in the Cubs L10, and 6-3 for the Brewers.
In the previous 6 meetings, the under is 4-2.
Both pitchers are red hot, with K.Wood having an away ERA of 3.01, and D. Davis, a home ERA of 1.59, together with a whopping 0.39 ERA in his L3 outings.
K.Wood has never given up more than 4 runs to Milwaukee, and D.Davis kept the Cubs scoreless in the only time he pitched against them.
K.Wood's O/U record is 11-16 overall, and 2-9 for away games.
D.Davis is 1-3, and 0-3 respectively.
Belgium 2: Aalst-Tienen, home win, @1.95
Aalst is newly promoted team with ambition and quality this year to be between the top ten clubs. Their start at first glance is not good:
W0 D2 L1, GD 5-6, but they've played at home with Denderleuw(draw), away with Ingelmunster(draw) and away with Dajnce(defeat), but all of them are solid clubs.
Todays oponent Tienen is "poor" team making one big upset in first match with the pretendent number one for promotion Strombeek(4-1) but after that two defeats from newly promoted Tubize away(1-3) and home with Geel(0-3).
It's time for the first clear home win.
My pick after yesterday dissapoined(as you see,Tahoma i wrote yesterday EXPECT-there isn't such bookie.).But i think if i was to tread not fair. :o
Denmark 2 div. (7.9) 13.00h
LYNGBY KOBENHAVN-HVIDOVRE tip  1 odds  1.85
After five games Lyngby 7pts 1-4-0 9:8 (H)1-1-0 3:2
Hvidovre 3pts 1-0-4 4:11 (A)0-0-2 1:4, 4 str. lost.

My pick for today:
18:15 ITALY - BiH (+ 4,5) 1 1.85
Italy is bigest disapoint so far on this championship. They lost both matches but that didn`t supriced me like their level of play.Yesterday they lost against France with 85:52 ?! and they showed very very bad play.Anyway they still have chances to reach 1/8 final if they win today against Bosnia. They have some good players like Basile,Bulleri,Marconato,Radulovic and for sure they are much quality team then BiH.
BiH lost both matches too,but it was expected..They didn`t played that bad and both matches they lost in second half which shows that they are not in good condition. They have very old team and without bigest star Markovic they can`t do anything.
This match is direct battle for 1/8 so I expect from both teams to do their best, but Italy is much better and I think that their quality will decide this match.
Match: Shrewsbury Town v Tamworth
Pick: Home Win
Odds: 1.53
Comments: Shrewsbury after relegation from the 3rd division is certainly looking to gain an immediate promotion back up. After a slight glitch away to Chester City-which is not too disgraceful considering they are one of the favorites for promotion, I am still very optimistic about their chances to challenge for promotion. p.s. Gamebookers please give odds for voleyball at last or it will be another lost day for me after yesterday`s unkown Owen result :lol:Hey thanks Gamebookers. 15 minutes and you gave volleyball odds, big plus! :)
So, Pick of the day is
Volleyball Eurpeoan Championships
Poland v Netherlands 1 1,5
Prediction in General Section(as well as other volleyball picks):
http://www.bettingadvice.com/showPredictionsLeague.php?idMenu=120
Bćrum v Fredrikstad 2
3.40 3.80 1.75 gamebookers
Promotion candidat to win really weak oponent.
My pick for today is Barum-Fredrikstad 2 @ 1.75 @ Gamebookers... The home team may have begun to show some good skills lately but only against mediocre teams like Alta...Fredrikstad wants to get as many points as possible to promote to the big league and now that the competition is big they will do their best, matches like this should be 3-point ones for them, they have an excellent coach(one of the greatest in whole Norway) and they showed that they can score easily...good luck to the visitors!
Volleyball, european championships
Italy-France 1 @ 1.50
France 4 6 0
Italy 4 6 1
Germany 4 6 1
Czech R. 0 1 6
Slovakia 0 1 6
Spain 0 0 6
It seems clear that matches between three actual leaders will decide which teams will join semifinals.
About this clash, I see Italy as favourite. Just some lack of attention in first match against Czech R. (3-1) and then a definite victory against Spain that is never been into the match. Italians showed themselves good in all fundamentals and today they can rely again on Giani and Mastrangelo. Antiga and Granvorka will guide french attacks, but italian block seems good enough to oppose them.
Very nice to see POD again, good luck to all competitors and thanks to Tahoma and Koffieboer who will run it.
 Oops, didn't see that someone else already had picked Fredrikstad...my pick then goes to Belenenses-Amadora Home win @1.6... I already checked all the previous posts and i hope to be the first one picking this...after last match's draw against Leiria Belenenses should win this one in order not to get to trouble against newly promoted(after court's decision) Estrela...there are some nice chips Estrela but I believe the team isn't good at all...Belenenses showed that is a good team 1st match at Sporting Lisbon...I hope to show it today also...
Hi Gang
Awful First Pick yesterday on the Tennis. :(
Clijsters must be the biggest "Bottler" on the Womens Tour.
Pick 2 [Sunday @ 19.05]
MLB
Minnesota v Texas
OVER 10 Runs @ 1.83
The Twins are going for the hattrick of Wins this weekend against Texas, and I think they will do it in style.
Friday the totals was 17,but yesterday it was only seven.Probably due to the fact the match was an unusual morning start, and they were probably half a sleep!
Tonight I expect a more attacking game with plenty of runs,so the "Over" looks the right play.
Good Luck All
GaryB
I made a mistake by posting this yesterday but here it goes again
OK Here's my first pick of the competition!
Buffalo Bills vs New England Patriots 1 @1.91
Drew Bledsoe(BUF) is linening up to play his old team and as he says ``If we're not a playoff team, I'll be greatly disappointed.I think that we can beat anybody." That includes 2002 Superbowl champions NE! BUF made some key additions to their team in the offseason (particulary to their defence that alowed allmost 25 pts/game) including linebacker Takeo Spikes and run-stuffing tackle Sam Adams! NE released four-time Pro Bowler safety Lawyer Milloy! He was their Captain and leader for the last 106 games! With NE being 31th theam in Rush defence and Buffalo having Travis Henry who finished fifth in the NFL with 1,438 yards rushing I see a lot of running for BUF in this game which should take just enough of pressure of Drew Bledsoe!
I see a clear home win in this game!!! [/b]
Poli Ejido v Terrassa 0:0 HOME WIN @ 1,55
Poli lost at Cadiz at 91', while they had a quite good game.
Terrassa had a 1-1 at home with herez, didnt look good and they were
close to losing the game.
Now Poli at home, a small stadium with great pressure from the fans,
is searching for the first win vs a team who looks a little weakened from last year.
I going for asia though cause we are talking for Spain Segunda where X is quit comon.
Good luck to all.
Lithuania - Germany 2 1.40 Eur.Basketball
OK, Lithuania has showed great talent in 2 first games but Latvia and Israel were too weak teams and from the beginning we all knew that Germany and Lithuania would fight for 1st place of this group.
So now we have the big game of the group to determine who would be first and go to quarter finals without the "tricky" game of 2nd round.
I think Germany has better team with the presence of Nowitzki as a critical point to them. There r not many teams in Europe which have the ability to stop him.His 49 pts in first 2 games prove this.
Lithuania plays as a team but the absence of a real big star is a disadvantage for them.
Giannis
Tennis US-Open Final (Doubles)
Bryan*2 @1.7 vs Bjorkman/Woodbridge
The Bryans in front of their homecrowd, facing two "Doubles-Legends". The Bryans should make it with the help of the audience and lots of wrong calls..:)

BIH-Italy 1 odds: 2.52
These two teams suck but i think Italy sucks more :D
Bosnian played better against France and Slovenia than Italy did.
This will be very important game. Italy is not the great Italy from few years back. No ****a no Myers....Buleri the only one IMO all others average. BIH has Mrsic and Mujezinovic, Hukic from time to time....
Very close game but for odds 2.52 i`m there
Mistro
Atlanta v Dallas 1 2.12
Can a vickless ATL go to big D and get their season off to a good start? I certainly think so, Johnson is no slouch and has a pretty strong arm on him, he will be able to hold down the QB position in Vicks absence. ATL now has some nice weapons on O, Price comming in and the RB duo of Dunn-Duckett is sure to keep many Defences busy. Their own D is quite stable too now with all LB's fianlly healthy. Dallas is a team that is still a year or two away, their main problem comes at the skill positions of RB and QB, both Hambrick and Carter are hardly a throwback to the days of Aikman and Smith!! DAL D is the only thing that will keep them in this game but i think it will be another long year for Jerry Jones and the Boys'.
GAIS - Trollhättan @ 1.50
Per has already written an analysis for this game here (http://www.bettingadvice.com/showPredictionsLeague.php?idMenu=187). Last year these two teams fought for the first place in the table. Trollhättan won the battle but didn't progress to Superettan. This year Trollhättan has been a disappointment and they can be found in the middle of the table. GAIS is in great form and the team is just three points behing leaders Ljungskile with one game in hand. Since the difference between the stronger and the weaker teams in this serie is pretty big, GAIS must win almost every game. Gravem/Viljanen will win this game for GAIS with ease. Not a great price, but a very probable home win!
Volleyball european championships
Greece-Bulgaria 1 @3.00
I know very little of volleyball, and I havn't seen even a minute of play in these championships, and I should know better than to go against Arbiter that have picked 10 out of 10 volleyball picks correct this far, in the general picks section, but I still see some value at these high odds on Greece, because if you only look at previous results, neither of teams have yet one a game in this tournament, but Greece took two sets against the Netherlands. And according to Arbiters prediction Bulgaria must win with 3-0 today, but what happens if they loose a set to Greece? I may be full of prejudice, but I don't think Bulgarians are the best of fighters when the results aren't going their way, maybe the just give up if they should happen to lose a set and lose the whole game?
And Greece have been succesfull in both football and basketball recently, I know these three sports have absolutly nothing to do with eachother, but success in one sport, could still boost a countries chances in another.
And I get the feeling that all the pressaure is on Bulgaria in this game, they are big favourites and expected to win.
Turkey - Croatia @ 2 @ 2.02
Greece v Croatia 77:76 (in last minute)
Croatia v Ukraine 93:71
Ukraine v Turkey 69:77 (first half +10 for Ukraine)
Turkey v Greece 70:75
Croatia can win if don't make mistike like width Greece.
Good luck to all.

Sorry for my mistake.
I made a mistake by posting this yesterday but here it goes again
OK Here's my first pick of the competition!
