View Full Version : Pick of the day 16/4
The most interesting game today is without a doubt...
ARSENAL vs MANCHESTER UNITED
I have a strong feeling that this will an attractive and offensive game, so I think the best bet is over 2.5 goals @ 2.00 (PremierBet). The last 3 games between these two teams have finished with less than 3 goals, but as I already wrote, I have a special feeling for this pick.
 Comment: your pick was correct, good work! (2-2)
My pick of the day is :
Peterborough - Cardiff 2 2.05 Globet
Cardiff must advantage of situation because Crewe plays draw with Bristol City.Peterborough boss Barry Fry will be without Adam Newton for the game with promotion hopefuls Cardiff at London Road.

My pick is on the same game as Tahoma's, different event however:
Arsenal - Manchester United X @ 3.6 -> Centrebet
It's almost like chess ;-) the better the competitors, the greater the possibility for a draw. There is a sufficient number of games until the end of Premiership for both teams to rely on the other one making a wrong step later. I am not saying they won't try to win it, but the powers are really evenly balanced. The fact that Centrebet have a no-profit market and that most people will bet with their hearts, not with their minds on this game, has made the odds for the draw swell in a very attractive way.
 Comment: your pick was correct, good work! (2-2)
Again, same game as the above.....
Arsenal v Manchester United X2 1.55 @ Expekt
United demolished Newcastle at the weekend and I can actually see them winning again here in London to virtually clinch the Championship.

Hi my pick for today is from romanian championship :
Rapid - Astra x2 2.70 @wettpunkt
I think that Astra is a very difficult team and they will not lose against Rapid. They have a history of good games in Giulesti and they are financially motivated by Steaua...

My pick of the day is:
Arsenal-Manchester United HT/FT 1/1 ---> 3.75 @expekt
I have every confidence in Arsenal winning this game. Arsenal is a better team in my opinon and they have impressed much more on me, than United. If both teams play at their maximum, then I'm sure Arsenal will win.
I think they will controll this game from start to finish. United seem to be in good form, but I don't think that will help them. It didn't help them against Real Madrid and Arsenal at Higbury is an equaly hard nut to crack for United.
 Comment: your pick was wrong, shame on you! (2-2)
My today's pick is:
ROMA - LAZIO Over - 1.80 - Fonbet
If you look at the stats it's very hard to predict under result in this kind of game. So if it don't be under match it has to be over.
H2H stats

English 1st division - Derby v Millwall:
Derby to win @ 2.20 (Paddy Power)
George Burley has got Derby firing on all cylinders at the moment. He has taken over on a temporary basis and the team has produced excellent wins over Wimbledon and Norwich. Derby have no injuries but the good news is that Rob Lee returns from a 2 match suspension.
Millwall themselves are in good form with 3 straight victories against struggling sides. The important thing to note here is that before the winning streak, Millwall were defeated by Derby's latest scalps, Wimbledon and Norwich!
Millwall are stuck in mid-table mediocrity with nothing much to play for while Derby still need points to get away from the relegation zone.
 Comment: your pick was wrong, shame on you! (1-2)
Arsenal-Man Utd: THE battle
Since most picks have benn made for this game, I'll take one of my favorite stakes: Total Bookings (10 Points for a yellow card and 25 Points for a red card. Only players that participate in the match count. Max points per player - 35).
Statistics
ARSENAL: for 32 games Arsenal's bookings are 48 yellow cards and 2 red.
MAN UTD: for 33 games the numbers are 41 and 1.
That means that we have 1,50 Y and 0,06 R per game, for Arsenal, and 1,28 Y and 0.03 R for Man Utd.
That means that, totally, we have 29,74 points per game.
Having to do with the 2 most offensive teams of EPL, I expect an open, hard but not unsporting game, with no reds. So I'll go for 3-4 yellow cards (30-40 points).
So the pick is...
Arsenal-Man Utd....Total Bookings..Between 25 and 45 points incl.....3,00 (G/Bs)
Good luck to your picks
My pick of a day:
Widzev - Wisla Krakow 2-2 (ht-ft) 3.40@Atlantik
IMO, Wisla is the best team in Poland and far better team then Widzev, who are in relegation trouble. Arbiter already took away win, so I have to go for a ht-ft gamble (which I usually don't play). I can only hope Kuzba will score twice in 16' and 24' :)

LEE, Hyung-Taik - SCHALKEN, Sjeng 1 2,35 at Centrebet
I tinck CB have wrog favorits here, LEE had no problems with Sanchez yesterday and seams to be in good form, Schalken is a good allrounder but tinck he gets problems here, I give LEE at least 50% chance to win and tinck 2,35 is pretty good odds.

Many Over picks today , but I will add another one:
Dutch Amstel Cup
Feyenord - Ajax Over 2.5.....@1.65 Gamebookers
Both teams have great strikers and attacking midfielders and they score a lot of goals, and both teams play attractive and attacking football. So I think that there will be many goals so the best pick for this game is Over because noone knows the winner.
I'm following Tahoma's pick and choosing number of goals in the match:
Arsenal v. Manchester Utd.
Goal Crazy: 4+ goals @ 3.25 (Ladbrokes)
MU has got a high average of goals in last games (won 6:2 v. Newcastle and 4:0 v. Liverpool, lost 1:3 v. Real Madrid).
Arsenal has scored not so much, 2 or 3 goals per game in last 4, but Londoners beat Manchester City 5:1.
I think like Tahoma, both teams will play attractive and offensive football. It will be actually the battle of Premier Ligue Championship!
Today i will try a bet on my favourite GUNNERS!!!!!!!So...
Henry v Van Nistelrooy - Who is the Man? TAKE HENRY 3,6(GB)
I will trust the gunners because today they will prove, in my opinion, that they deserve the title again!!!UP THE GUNNERS
Chicago White Sox v Kansas City Royals 2 2.33 @ Canbet
The only reasons why the odds are what they are is because the public has a high expectation of what the White Sox can acheive this year, and aren't giving the Royals and their pitcher, Runelvys Hernandez enough credit. Everything favors KC here, and I was expecting odds of about 2.00! KC is an incredible 11-1, while Chicago is 7-6. Hernandez is 3-0 with an outstanding 0.45 ERA, and he hasn't thrown more than 90 pitches in a game yet, so no worries about fatigue. Jon Garland is pitching for the White Sox, and has been a disappointment thus far, pitching 2 games and compiling an 0-1 record and an ERA of 9.00, including an outing against these very same Royals in which he lasted only 4 innings after giving up 5 runs. Now I'm not going to tell you that KC should be a favorite for the World Series, most of their wins have come against struggling teams like Detroit and Cleveland, but Hernandez is on fire and their bats have hit in 20 runs in the past two games. One more thing, the bullpens of the two teams have performed on a different level. Kansas City's available bullpen has a 1.29 ERA, while Chicago's has a 3.94 ERA. Head to head, the last 5 have gone for KC in this series.
Although I quite rarely put my money on cup matches, today I`ll try with Croatian cup. Hajduk won against Dinamo last sunday and they are in quite good form. On the other hand Varteks isn`t in such a good form. BTW, I think Dinamo is going to win the championship, and Hajduk to win the cup.The odd is in my opinion amazing, so definitelly pick of the day
Hajduk - Varteks 1 1.60 BetandWin
Hi,my bet for today is:
SLOVAN - ZILINA 1 (1,7 Gamebookers)
Zilina won first round 2:0 and Slovan needs
win by 2 goals to go to the final.Slovan is 10-2-1
at home and I think that they will win today.
today i will go for the away win of Besiktas against Diyarbakirspor because i really trust the pick at

Holland Amstel Cup Feyenoord - Ajax 1 ukbetting@2.20
Feyenoord are almost complete, Ajax have difficulties scoring against well organised defences. If Zlatan does not play (it seems he will not), I don't see Ajax score here unless Feyenoord is in front or some huge personal mistake is made by one of Feyenoord's players. Feyenoord have a lot of dangerous players, Ajax will not be able to keep a clean record here, I think. For Ajax, the CL and the league are more important, I don't think they would like a replay of last years final against Utrecht. Feyenoord to win here.

Roma v Lazio X (3.00) @Gamebookers
Roma won 2-1 in the first leg and consequently they need a draw (or a 0-1 defeat) to qualify. This is probably the only hope that Roma will play in European cups next year, since they have lost considerable ground in the championship. Lazio on the other hand are on a downtrend (lost 4-1 to Porto and drew 0-0 with Modena), will certainly try to qualify, but I think their minds will be elsewhere:D A draw will probably satisfy both...
Hello!
FK Teplice v Slavia Praha 2 @2.5 at Gamebookers

Hi Hi
My pick today is:
Pasching v Rapid 1 @2.1 Interwetten
Pasching are in second place way behind Austria W. but fighting for a UEFA spot. Rapid are 6th seven points behind Pasching, they are not in danger of being relegated so no extra motivation that I know of for them.
I expect this to be a low scoring game so under 2,5 goals is also a good bet.
Pasching home: 7-5-1 gd: 19-5
Rapid away: 4-4-6 gd: 17-17
Last meetings:
16 Nov 02 Rapid W. 2 - 1 Pasching
19 Oct 02 Pasching 2 - 0 Rapid W.
31 Jul 02 Rapid W. 1 - 0 Pasching
I will take van Nistelrooy ManU 4,5 @ Gamebookers to score more goals than Henry !!!
Risky bet, but nice odds..
that van nistelrooy bet was mine
My pick of the day is Ceahlaul-Steaua 2 (2.15@Globet)
Steaua will win this one because they need every point to remain in chase of the leaders Rapid.Steaua's players will play for 10000$ match win bonus so they should win.10000$ is a very big sum for the romanian championship.Ceahlaul hasn't got such a good team but they play more phisicaly than Steaua which is a more tehnical team.
My Pick of the day:
FC Kärnten vs. Sturm Graz
Over 2.5 at 1.75 at Expekt
6/10 of the last matches for Kärnten and 7/10 of Graz ended over, this promisses a lot of goals today. I must admit, I am a little bit influenced by Foxtrotts prediction today.
This is my pick, cause I am late again and Besiktas and Augsburg are taken.
Other good picks for me are:
Leoben 1
Salzburg 1
ManU over
Pfullingen 1
Saarbrücken 1
Austria 1
GAK 1
hehe, but this doesn't help me if Kärnten-Sturm ends 0:0 today..:)
pick of the day: AUSTRIA BUNDESLIGA
salzburg - bregenz 1 1.72 (bet365)
home team has a 3 wins ina row and if they wont to catch up better place for europe they must win.they have 38. points, four points behind the sturm who is on the 4. position.
they must win

Hi there !
My pick for Wednesday is from English Div.2 :
Peterborough United v Cardiff City (1:0) 2 ...................... 3.50 at Playit or Interwetten
Cardiff to win by at least 2....
Following yesterday's draw between Crew and Bristol City, Cardiff at last now has the chance to clearly occupy that elusive second spot (behind Wigan) leading to Div.1 !!! I expect them to come out firing and, in the face of Earnshaw, they have the big scorer capable of striking a few past tough Peterborough. The home team has been in good form recently, a form largely responsible for their practical survival at Div.2 (they only need a point or two, if any, in the next 5 games to secure survival), therefore I consider this pick risky. Similar odds are offered for the (1:0) draw, which is also a high-percentage possibility..... I'm counting on Cardiff's superior team (32 points diff.) and motivation (direct promotion) to make them come out storming :D
Good luck to all 8)
My pick of the day:
Denizlispor - Fenerbahce  Time of the first goal 1-30  1,80 at Worldbet
Denizlispor goals: total (26 games) 27-31, at home(13 games): 17-15
Fenerbahce goals: total (26 games) 50-33, at home(12 games): 16-20
Previous games:
2002-09-01 Fenerbahce 3 2 Denizlispor
2002-02-24 Denizlispor 1 2 Fenerbahce
2001-12-11 Fenerbahce 1 2 Denizlispor

2001-04-07 Denizlispor 2 1 Fenerbahce
2000-10-27 Fenerbahce 5 2 Denizlispor
All games is OVER 2,5
I think this game will be OVER too, and 1st goal on 1-30 min. very possible.
Good luck!

Sorry for been away for some time, had some things to clear but now I'm back 8)
Let us get ion with good picks
Today I pick Austria Division 1
Untersiebenbrunn v SV Mattersburg 1 @ 2.30 (Gamebookers)
SV Mattersburg won against Untersiebenbrunn 2:1 and now Untersiebenbrunn will be looking for revenge. If you take a look at current standings you'll see that the home team is on the 4th place and Mattersburg is leading with 13 points ahead of 2nd Austria Lustenau.
Mattersburg away record 6-3-4 19-16
Untersiebenbrunn home record 8-2-3 27-16
I think that Spittal will get all three points in front of their home crowd and make the fight for promotion a little more exciting
GL everyone
My pick is :
Paul Scholes to score anytime at 2.75 (Gamebookers)
I expect this match to have plenty of goals with Henry and Nistelrooy. But i think Paul Scholes will score with his superb strikes.
Jerome
The game from Switzerland:
Neuchatel Xamax - Grasshopers - X Odds: 3.50 Bookie: Pinnacle
Xamax will try to stop the strong recent run of Grasshopers. The home team will miss the injured midfielder Dorge Tsawa and the Brazilian Alex da Silva. For the guests Mihai is back but still it will be very difficult match. A draw seems reasonable result.
My pick is :
Paul Scholes to score anytime at 2.75 (Gamebookers)
I expect this match to have plenty of goals with Henry and Nistelrooy. But i think Paul Scholes will score with his superb strikes.
Jerome
Available also at 3.25  at Sportingodds.......
In case you're actually betting on this pick, that's an extra .50 for you. That's a heavily taken bet the last couple of days, following Scholes' exhibition at Newcastle and....... well, I just don't know about this one :? Scholes IS the best 'secret' or 'come-from-behind' striker in the game... but I just don't know. I would welcome opinions, in ANOTHER part of this forum of course, on whether he is actually the best EVER scorer of this type :!: or not ... All views welcome !
Thanks PRAG for the higher odds.
Yes, i bet on all my picks in this competition. I have only been using GB and Multibet as i do not want to divert my resources over many accounts. The picks and odds reflect actual bets but not all are 100 units. :)

Pittsburgh - N.Y.Mets 1@1.80.....willhill
PREVIEW:
Having stopped a six-game losing streak, the New York Mets try to win their first road series of the season as they resume a three-game set with the Pittsburgh Pirates at PNC Park.
Met closer Armando Benitez, one of the main culprits during New York's season-high skid, worked a scoreless ninth inning to help the Mets hold on for a 3-1 victory in Tuesday's series opener.
Benitez had blown three saves -- all Mets losses -- in the previous nine days, but helped end the team's longest skid since they dropped 12 in a row last August en route to a last-place finish in the NL East.
Though the early season struggles of Roberto Alomar, Mike Piazza and Mo Vaughn continued -- the three combined to go 1-for-11 -- Jeromy Burnitz went 3-for-4 with a two-run homer and two singles to carry the offensive load.
``The bullpen got some big outs, some huge outs,'' first-year Mets manager Art Howe said. ``Now, Armando is out of his slump and things can get back on track.''
The Pirates, just 1-3 at PNC Park this season, dropped the opener of their season-high 12-game homestand.
Pittsburgh's next road game is April 29 in San Diego. Including Tuesday's game, 25 of the Pirates' next 38 games are at home.
STANDINGS: Mets - 5th place, 4 GB, NL East. Pirates - 3rd place (tied), 1/2 GB, NL Central.
METS PROBABLE STARTER: David Cone (1-1, 7.00 ERA). Cone is looking to bounce back from a horrific outing at San Juan, Puerto Rico against the Expos. The right-hander allowed seven runs and eight hits, including two homers, over four innings. Cone has fared well against the Pirates during his career, going 7-2 with a 3.42 ERA in 15 starts.
PIRATES PROBABLE STARTER: Jeff Suppan (2-0, 1.35 ERA). The right-hander has been impressive in his first two starts, allowing two runs and 10 hits over 13 1-3 innings, striking out 11 and walking four. He is 1-0 with a 2.42 ERA in two career starts against the Mets.
OFFENSIVE LEADERS: Mets - Ty Wigginton, .341 avg and 11 runs; Wigginton, Cliff Floyd and Tony Clark, 2 HRs; Wigginton, four tied with 4 RBIs; Roger Cedeno, 1 SB. Pirates - Kevin Young, .333 avg; Reggie Sanders, 4 HRs and 11 RBIs; Kenny Lofton and Aramis Ramirez, 7 runs; Jason Kendall and Lofton, 2 SBs.
SEASON SERIES: Mets, 1-0.
STREAKS AND NOTES: Mets - RHP Cone has pitched in 32 different ballparks during his career, but is making his first-ever start at PNC Park. ... 1B Vaughn is just 4-for-19 in his career against Suppan. ... C Piazza has just four career at-bats against Suppan, but has three hits, including two home runs, and seven RBIs against the right-hander. Pirates - OF Matt Stairs is hitting .417 (7-for-17) with three homers and eight RBIs in his career against Cone. ... The Pirates are 1-3 since LF Brian Giles (strained right medial collateral ligament) went on the 15-day DL. The Pirates expect Giles to be out 2-to-4 weeks. ... Following the three-game series with the Mets, the Pirates don't play another NL East opponents until meeting Atlanta on June 6.
ROAD/HOME RECORDS: Mets - 2-6 on the road; Pirates - 1-3 at home.
INJURIES: Mets - RHP Pedro Astacio (biceps), 15-day DL; LHP John Franco (elbow), 15-day DL; RHP Grant Roberts (shoulder), 15-day DL. Pirates - OF Giles (knee), 15-day DL; RHP Mike Lincoln (shoulder), 60-day DL; LHP Dave Williams (shoulder), 60-day DL; IF Pat Meares (hand), 60-day DL.
