Difficult to choose the winner in this competition. There are 8 teams remaining, who are all well known in the soccer world and have great tradition. I´m looking forward for the draw on Friday and we will have the chance to watch some great matches. But be carefull with high stakes...

It might be boring, but I voted for Real Madrid. I don't think I need to write arguments for my choice. I think Real Madrid has a good chance to win the double (La Primera Division and Champions League). If I had to bet on any team, I would definitely put my stake on Real Madrid! Other possible winners for me are Milan and Manchester United...

I'm sticking with the opinion I've had all season - Man United will take the trophy at Old Trafford! :D

Manchester United posses everything needed to win the trophy and I think they`ve biggest motivation. They`re concentrated on it and are class act, all that showed up against Juve 3-0 :)
Other winner for me is Valencia, because of superiority tactical game, tight defense and phenomenal Aimar.
I hate Real but of course they can be contenders but I think with Ronaldo they won`t win :)

All Italian clubs seems to me to be a good teams but without a championship class. I would not be suprised if all of them will be eliminated in quaters. Same is Barca.

The underdogs are Ajax. Staking at them now is worth a punt because they can really go all the way with their youth and fresh team :) I would be suprised if they will win but... not so much. Remember this is the team that didn`t lose at Mestalla,Stadio Olimpico and Highbury.

I already made a medium bet on MU to win CL in December now I will also take Ajax with small stake at high odds.

Has any team ever won the CH. L. in their own home town ? Does anybody remember ? I'm not sure, but I have a gut feeling U.E.F.A. will NOT be happy with such an eventuality, be it Man.U. or any other team in their shoes :!: I cannot exactly place it, but I guess it has to do with credibility and the PERCEPTION of unpredictability they want to inject into the event...

In any case it's a tough call, especially this time, :? with eight European giants in the quarterfinals...(of the really HEAVY names, only Bayern is missing). I suppose there are pros and cons for each and every one of the 8 teams, PARTICULARLY in CH.L. where football politics and referee assignements before the matches often decide so much ...
The unforseen variable of having a war going on at the same time (if indeed the war lasts until then) adds extra spice to the politics of the whole thing. I'll wait until tomorrow's draw and then I'll post a brief sketch with each team's long-term pros and cons both ON and OFF the field... 8)

I support AC Milan and I hope they'll win it, but objectively I'll go with an outsider: FC Barcelona!!!

Why Barca? It's obvious that Antic turned the team's confidence and I think they have same quality as the other candidates. Maybe they can do it, as Real of Del Bosque (who then had replaced Tosak) in 2000 did it.

By the way, I see that you give no hope to Juventus in your poll. Why???

Well, the draw is out and it can be EITHER Man. United OR Real Madrid through to the semis, so not everyone of you, my friends, is going to get his wish either way !!! I'll post the analysis I promised later tonight...

By the way, still nobody remembers if a home team ever won the CH.L. :?: :?: :?:

so this are the quarter finals

1. Real Madrid-Man Utd
2. Juventus-Barcelona
3. Ajax-Milan
4. Inter-Valencia

I still go for a final Real-Milan .. and it could be .. because the winner of 1 plays with the winner of 2.. and 3 with 4 .. so real - milan it will be

That was 25 years BEFORE the institution of CH.L. began !!!

Anyway, I take it that NOBODY has done it so far since the early 90's, when CH.L. took off as a glamour-replacement to the old formula... I hinted in my post yesterday, that there may be a very good reason for that, it seems I was on to something (see today's draw) :!:

Alex ferguson said in Sunday that the draw was organyzed in advance. He said that it's not a surprise that the 3 Spanish teams doesn't meet each other, and 3 Italian teams doesn't meet each other. Fergi said that UEFA doesn't want United to be in the final in its home ground :!:

I like juventus, but I think juve in this group is the underdosg.

Trezegeut is out again, Nedved injured, Di Vaio in a bad form and Del Piero is just rienterd.
Big problem in attacks in thi moment for the Turin's squad.
I'm with Juve always but in this moment Man U and Real is more fit.

Go Juve Go!!

I already voted for Inter , just a couple days ago!Why :?:
Because they have a coach who is a kind of "Specialist" in this competition
some call him a perfect final looser , but this year Inter will win the CL in its "ugly" way of playing soccer.
Cupper will not be forever a looser. 8)
