View Full Version : Uefa Cup : Real Zaragoza - Austria Wien 17 March
Austria confidence sky high
FK Austria Wien head to Spain for the second leg of their UEFA Cup Round of 16 tie with Real Zaragoza full of confidence following Sunday's derby victory against SK Rapid Wien.
Sigurd Rushfeldt's solitary goal ensured Austria extended their unbeaten run in the capital derby to 15 matches. Besides the absence of Czech midfield player Štepán Vachoušek, whose suspension will rule him out of Thursday's game, Austria will also be without Vladimír Janocko as his knee ligament injury has not healed in time.
Gabriel Milito's 33rd-minute goal against fellow UEFA Cup contenders Sevilla FC helped Zaragoza warm up in style. The Spanish side, who drew 1-1 in Vienna last week, remained eleventh in the Primera División table despite Sunday's victory against the Andalusians. Alberto Zapater, back from domestic suspension, retained his place in the starting lineup but centre-half César Jiménez is still out with damaged knee ligaments.

*This Austrian "Nightmare" must come to an end tomorrow..for sure!!
Saragossa will not fail agianst such a crappy team, they are in a real good shape lately and if they do not make the same mistakes like Bilbao..there is only one possible Result: Homewin**

I said the same thing about the bilbao game.
I won't even tell you what the conscences were.
Yep, Austria have nice little team out there.. We will see what will happen.. Odds around 1.4 are ridicoulos.. Still, Saragoza is in nice form these days..they should probably win, but with these odds, no thanx..
( and by the way, good one bettingfox!..0:0 Villareal )
i think a good bet here is 0-0 !thats enough for zaragosa and they have good defence .
i will take that with 2/10 and also an under bet
Why are you people running away from value?
Tell me one thing: Why is Zaragoza so favoured here? In fact, why are they favoured so much in UEFA cup this season(by the bookies and the public)? I remember the odds on Club Brugge at home against Zaragoza were up to 2.30 8O , and I still don't understand - WHY?
Zaragoza is a decent squad, and they are surely coming from one of the most powerful leagues in the world, but they are only 11th in Primera and are nothing but a 2nd class team.I rate Bilbao a lot better than Zaragoza, yet Austria kicked them out. And now the odds are 1.50?
I think the odds should be around 1.80 on Zaragoza, regardless of their good home record in Primera.
Austria Vienna is a dangerous bunch of hard-fighting individuals, they are surely able to qualify. I see this game as a possible trap for the public, which surely won't miss out the odds 1.40 on their 11 game combos, and later curse everyone at Zaragoza and ask that stupid question "how can this happen?".
I believe it can happen, and I'm sure I'm not alone in this.
I don't want to persuade you to take this bet, after all, I'm neither the Austrian nor Spanish football expert, but I still follow football enough to spot the value here, but ask yourselves this:
If the national selection of Spain(spanish first 11) would be playing against Austria, would you take odds 1.40? I surely wouldn't, regardlessly if the game is about to be played in Madrid or some other spanish city.
Ok then, WHY on earth would one take Zaragoza(11th in Primera) against Austrian TOP team, with a lot of internationals, and experienced and cunning players?
Ok,if the odds would be 1.80, I would understand the euphoria, but 1.40?
My bets:
Austria Vienna to win(6.70)(3/10)
Draw(3.60)[/b](2/10)
One of the reason is:
Zaragoza has defeated Turkish champions Fenerbahce previous round and you can't compare the Vienna team with Fenerbahce who has star class player in their squad likes of Alex, Anelka, Van Hooijdonk, Tuncay...
I rate Bilbao a lot better than Zaragoza
Wish you the best luck with your play, but i completely disagree with this one.. Zaragoza has much more than Bilbao.
They can play counters. (like Bilbao)
They don't care playing at home or on road. (better)
Have good leaders inside (just like Bilbao)
Munoz is brilliant, also great motivater(better)
Team Confidence (better)
Set Pieces (much better)
etc....
Zaragoza are better for me. This one should be a homewin, as WIEN have to score, and this means ZARAGOZA can score the first easy with a counter attack.
But under these odds is the value on Wien side.. Won't bet on home, so gl with your play

Black winter day ;) Darker than that, gloomier than an autumn night :D .
Sorry, just had to write that ;)
GL with your bets.
hi to all
well, i just can support satyr´s oppinion. i also was surprised for the low price on zaragossa. for me they are not such a clear favourite as everyone thinks.
*i have been following the spanish league for several months (watch the games always live in tv) and i have to say that no team (except barca maybe) really impressed me very much. and i also saw some problems in the play of zaragossa. i am just a "amateur" :) but i think that the coaches kronsteiner and söndergard know very well how the system must be made for a "surprise".
*i don´t know if anyone saw the first leg. but there austria vienna domintated the first 65 minutes and should have made at least 3 goals. and now i ask myself how it could happen that bookies just give poor 1,50 for a homewin?? as everyone knows that zaragossa also would be satisfied with 0:0 for example?
*in interviews with manager, coaches and players u could hear that they all are full of self confidence and they were not going to zaragossa just to react on the play of zaragossa...they also want to act and play their game. don´t think that they try to make a goal from the beginning. the tactic is to have a strong defence and wait for the chance. i can imagine that they want to keep a 0:0 in the first halftime and just then they will play more offensive. so it seems that nigerian striker dosunmo who is very fast and could make many problems for zaragossa defense just will play in 2nd halftime.
*maybe zaragossa is favourite in this match cause of their amazing record at home. maybe zaragossa is favourite cause they play in one of the top-leagues of the world and austria is just a small (unimportant league). but for me there is no reason for such low odds on them.
therefore i prefer to go for doublechance X/2 with odds 2,19 from gamebookers. halftime draw is also very possible in my oppinion.
good luck to all :D
ps: have to tell u that i am fan of rapid vienna and normally i should be the happiest person if austria vienna will lose... but when betting it is better to be objective and to try the best value...
i wasnt sure, so i played 1x

Well in addition to X2 I played also under but I'm not unhappy at all
Easy money.
Quite simple cannot have 3 SWpanish teams in Uefa.
Villa and Sevilla will go thru
Well, I have my 8,25 bet on austrians at Expekt, but still is someone watching the game? What's happening out there?
To my personal experience, such start is usially bad than good, I won't be surprised if it ends 1-2 by HT, and 3-2 by FT :D :)
One more and My Over 2.5 @ 1.90 is easy money
One can ask: What has happened to Spanish club football :?: No clubs in the CL more and now both Seville and Zaragoza in big trouble.
Diduluca redcarded!
Now it is gooing to be interesting!
Zaragoza 0 - 2 Austria Wien
Parma 1 - 0 Sevilla.
From what I see spanish teams don`t qualify, villarreal will not qualify.. i feel it because is favourite :)!

TAKE IT!!
I just took Austria @ 1.63. [G'boookers]
I think Austria can defend with 9 men! c'mon.
Also Rushfeldt is not very good for much more than scoring goals, I doubt they would have needed him for defending.

of course i know it:-) i just wrote it for those experts who still think that austria will not have any change and will not reach next round...regarding to the poll

my dear friend, the poll is proportional with the odds on the game, as with the expections.
However, I voted for Vienna (I think) 8)
Still the odds for Austria Vienna where ludacris, and boy were they ever!!
should have been aprox. 2.15-3.30-3.33 imo
It is a problem, when a small team from big league (Zaragoza, who once won CupWinners Cup though) meets a giant from small league (not many know, Austria were in Champions Cup Finals once!!!)... so this happens.
It is enough time still, we will see what happens.
GL!

If I can remember correctly: Nayim in the extra time of the final played in Paris gave a giant lob from just over the mid line... and the ball ended in David Seaman's Arsenal net. So great, haven't seen such a goal in a long time. Since then I follow the results of the Spanish club occasionaly.. I also visited the UEFA cup match Feyenoord - Zaragoza in 1993.. my first match in a stadium ever. :)

the funny thing is that I had Vienna in the last leg as well, and there I was also cheering a bit too early.
I don't expect more goals now. Maybe zaragoza but I doubt it.
Why would Vienna wan't to score one more goal, they are through with the 2-2 anyway.
after a big chance for sionko for making the 3:2 for austria he got injured...now there are just 9 players from austria on the pitch...
ft 2:2
austria vienna qualified for next round
