Kashima Antlers vs Vissel Kobe
Kashima currently stands at 3rd in the table, with a home record of W8 D2 L3, scoring 25 and conceding 12. What must be noted though is that the games drawn and lost were in the beginning part of the season. Since then, in their last 10 home games, they have W8 D1 L1, scoring 25 and conceding 10. Also, 2 of their 3 games lost at home were against Urawa and Gamba, who both lead the table ahead of Kashima. The other loss was against FC Tokyo, which i would regard as a blip. In fact, they have the 2nd best home record, just behind Gamba. Kashima has won the last 2 meetings at home against Vissel 4-0 and 2-0.
Vissel Kobe is standing 12th in the table, with a W4 D0 L9 away record, scoring 21 and conceding 27. That is the 5th worst away record in the league. The 4 wins were against Yokohama FC, Omiya Ardija, Jubilo Iwata and Yokohama FM. Yokohama FC and Omiya Ardija are both at the bottom of the table with the worst home records so i do not regard the 2 wins as something to fear about. The win against Yokohama FM was achieved at the start of the season, and i doubt that Vissel can accomplish that now. Only the win against Jubilo Iwata is quite impressive, but then Jubilo has always been an inconsistent team, and meetings between the 2 teams have been close in the past. It is worth noting that in all the 9 away games Vissel have lost this season, in 7 of the 9 games they have lost by 2 goals, with only 2 games in which they lost by 1. In their last 10 away games, they have lost 7 on 3, scoring 14 conceding 21.
All in all, i believe that Kashima is on a roll at home right now, and with such a strong home record, they should be able to overcome Vissel Kobe which has a mediocre away record. 8 pts on Kashima to win and also 5 pts on Kashima -1.5.
