    Ireland: Dundalk v Shelbourne 27.09.2007

    Dundalk v Shelbourne 2.10 3.20 3.00

    odds from gamebookers

I have in my local DUNDALK 1.55 3.5 5.25 SHELBOURNE. Is Shelbourne worth to try at this odds? I think 5.25 is a great odd..

Well,i think Dundalk needs that win. After 5 lost away games the have to recover with their home games. And they need that win because in Friday Finn Harps hosts Ramblers,so this is a great chance for Dundalk to reach their oppenents.Shels are good and strong team and shouldn`t be underastimated, but Dundalk need exactly this 3 points indeed. In Dundalk squad their top goalscorer Shaun Williams returned to training but its not sure whether he will play. Also Cathal O`Connor and Philip Huges are back from suspensions. For the visitors out is their goalkeeper Tony O`Dowd and Aidan Collins is out with rib injury.Last time Dundalk hosted Shelbourne,Dundalk went out winners with 3:0.
    So,my pick is
    Dundalk @ 2.10

        News from Dundalk FC :
What a difference a week makes! Despite Finn Harps netting yet another late winner against Shelbourne last Friday, Cobh**8217;s surprise 2-2 draw at home to lowly Wexford Youths on Saturday has brought Dundalk back to within six points of the summit and has injected new optimism around Oriel Park. And, with Cobh likely to find it difficult to take maximum points away from Ballybofey this weekend, a win for John Gill**8217;s Lilywhites at home to Shelbourne on Thursday evening (kick-off 7.45pm) should reduce the deficit once again to just four points. That, however, is easier said than it will be to do against a rejuvenated Shels side that have won four of their last five games.

Dundalk, meanwhile, are looking to string two wins together for the first time since early July.

Match Fact: Dundalk are undefeated at Oriel Park in the league since 22 June, 2006. Shelbourne haven**8217;t won at the Carrick Road venue in over five years, though, that win came just two games ago!

        Match Odds: 13/10 Dundalk - 11/5 - Shelbourne 17/10

Dundalk Team News: Manager John Gill must once again plan without long-term absentees, playmaker Shaun Williams (foot), centre-half Ben Whelehan (knee) and the versatile Kevin McArdle (metatarsal). Top scorer, Williams returned to training this week, however, he is not yet available to play. On the plus side, record scorer Philip Hughes and midfielder Cathal O**8217;Connor both return after serving one-match suspensions last week, though winger, Cormac McArdle (hamstring) must be considered a doubt having missed the last two games through injury.

        News from Shelbourne :
Following on Shelbourne defeat to Finn Harps last Friday (again due to a late killer goal)and their win over Kildare County on Sunday afternoon, the Tolka Park side travel up the M1 to face Dundalk, whose interest in the First Division title has been resurrected following results elsewhere over the past week.

Shelbourne travel without the injured Aidan Collins (Ribs) and Tony O**8217;Dowd (Shoulder) and with no suspensions. It is likely, however, that manager Dermot Keely will make some changes from last week**8217;s line-ups. Peter McGlynn has been promoted from the Under 21 team after impressing over the past number of weeks.

It is likely that from this point of the season on, players will be playing for their contracts for next season and the management is likely to give all members of the panel a reasonable opportunity to grab their chance.

        Preview from IrishFootballOnline :

Shelbourne travel to take on Dundalk in the First Division of the League of Ireland at Oriel Park on Thursday evening. Dundalk are still in the promotion race while Shels are looking to continue their strong finish to the season.

Having led the division for much of the season, Dundalk are now third and although they look likely to clinch a play-off place, poor recent form leaves automatic promotion unlikely as they must overtake both Cobh Ramblers and Finn Harps.

Shelbourne are still chasing fourth place in the second tier and although they are unlikely to insert themselves into the play-off picture, leap-frogging Limerick 37 would be an achievement given their difficult circumstances at the start of the year.

Shels boss Dermot Keely has already indicated that his players must prove their worth for next season and has said that he will give all members of his squad a chance to remain in his squad for next season.

The current First Division form guide shows that Shels trail only Finn Harps over the last six games but Dundalk have picked up just seven points from their last six league games.

After consecutive away losses to Kildare County and crucially to Harps, Dundalk bounced back with a 4-0 win over

Kilkenny City in Oriel Park last week. Shels had a busy weekend with games last Friday and Sunday. The Dublin side lost late to Harps but beat Kildare.

Dundalk beat Shels the first two times the sides met this year, but the defending League of Ireland champions

Shelbourne bounced back to beat the County Louth side at Tolka Park in July with former Dundalk player Anto Flood scoring the only goal of the game.

Dundalk remain unbeaten at home in league action this season - the only team in the league that can boast of such a record. Shels on the other hand haven't found things easy on the road and have lost half of their fourteen away games so far this year.

        Team news:

        Dundalk
There was some good news for Dundalk this week when top scorer Shaun Williams returned to training after a foot injury.
However, along with Ben Whelehan and Kevin McArdle, Williams remains out through injury.
Cormac McArdle remains doubtful with a hamstring injury but Cathal O'Connor and Philip Hughes return from one game bans.

        Shelbourne
Aidan Collins is out with a rib injury while goalkeeper Tony O'Dowd is ruled out by an ongoing shoulder problem.
Peter McGlynn has been promoted from the club's under-21 side with manager Dermot Keely again set to shuffle his pack after last week's games.

        Prediction :
Home win. Despite struggling recently, Dundalk have still been on form at home.

In this derby games like dundalk - shelbourne and finn h.- cobh it is all matter of concentration and self confidence. Dundalk is very weak under pressure, Shelbourne is little better but who knows. On other side Cobh is like this two teams very good against weak opponents but when it's matters they crack. Finn Harps is another world from this teams and we can see that in game against Shelbourne, they are losing 1:0 but managed to pull the narrow win in last minutes of the game. Finn Harps seems to be very confidence team surely better bet than today's dundalk and odds are pretty much the same.
