Can you tell me why a pitcher who is finding a nice rythm, backed up by a powerful lineup, is an underdog when facing a pitcher in a miserable form and some lethargic batters ?

After beginning the season with 0-2 and 7.02 ERA, Ohka has won back-to-back contests, reminding us of his great form a couple of years ago. In his latest outing, Ohka gave up just one run in seven great innings versus the same Rangers, continuing his success against them - he is 3-0 with a 2.05 ERA in four career starts versus Texas. Current Rangers lineup is held to a .236 BA and a mere .289 OBP by Ohka.

On the other hand, we have an agonising pitcher - Brandon McCarthy (1-4, 9.90 ERA, 2.10 WHIP). In his last four appearances, which include three starts, McCarthy lasted a total of just eight innings, allowing 17 runs, with opponents hitting .405 off him. These are horrid numbers and they do nothing but reflect a horrid form.

Even though Toronto are losers of three straight, they are far from being in a slump. The Blue Jays are everything, but a streaky team. These guys can sweep the Red Sox on Fenway only to get swept in Tampa Bay the next series. Rangers are in a five-game losing streak, however it will be a bit harder for them to rebound quickly from this downtrend with this slim offensive productivity (10 runs in the last five matches).

I have spotted some other good plays, but no time for writeups, sorry ...

Good luck !!

Any toughts on Was - Chi today? Was at 2.76 at Betsafe, and imo the stats points towards a Was victory.

Was won 6 out of the last 8 in Chicago.
Lower Whip and ERA
Gave up 2 hits and 1 run in 7 innings against Mets

What do you think?

MLB
LA ANAHEIM (ESCOBAR -145) White Sox (Contreras)

The home team is 21-8 in the Angels games. The Sox have lost four straight. Kelvim Escobar is having another good year quietly with a 3.28 ERA and 1.176 WHIP. He faces a Palehose offense that is hitting an impotent .221 including an unsightly .196 their last seven games with an OBP of .265.

Compare that to LA’s home numbers of .310 batting average and .368 OBP. Escobar’s last two outings to Chicago were his best, both wins giving up a total of four earned runs in 13 2/3.

A couple of horrid letdown moments last night (2-3 overall), primarily Cain who fell apart early, and a quite unlucky finish with the Red Sox, even though they were down 0-5 after 1st.

Anyways, let's try to improve tonight, get back to winning days.

Mets (Maine) (1.82 @ Pinnacle) 8 units

Randy Johnson (0-1, 6.55 ERA) is a done deal. He can have a few solid outings here and there but he's far from his best days, I think his current numbers are slowly becoming the only reality. Johnson actually had a solid outing against the Giants by allowing two earned runs and seven hits in six innings, but did not earn a decision in a 5-4 win. Nevermind. The Mets are tougher on lefties and they're going to have a big boost on the hill as they send out John Maine (4-0, 1.35 ERA), who has been lights out so far this year, after all he's been named pitcher of the month in April.
The Snakes haven't seen him at all yet, Mets hitters have already demonstrated in and out throughout the years how they enjoy playing in the desert.
Plenty of Mets' batters have had success facing Big Unit, despite the fact they haven't launched many homers off him, they have guys like Alou (.571 BA v Johnson), Wright (.462), Reyes (.375) Beltran (.353), etc.
I like the Mets to keep rolling here.

Tigers (Verlander) (1.64 @ Pinnacle) 7 units

The Royals have had a few solid performances lately, but I think it's fading time again. Especially since they'll give the ball to Justin Verlander (1-1, 2.79 ERA) who has a 1.36 career ERA against KC hitters, and has shown quality playing in Kansas as well as at home.
Bannister, on the other side, is a big mystery to me: Judging from what I've read (never actually seen him play) he is a solid prospect, but has so far lacked command and needs to work on consistency.
The Tigers, on the other hand, are catching some momentum and I believe they should dominate this one.

for tonight i have 5 bets,my first picks on mlb here!!

for three ( Toronto,Detroit,Mets 7 units on all) of them it is already said what is needed!!!

My two other picks are Milwaukee and Oakland!!!

Milwaukee against Pittsburgh pick Milwaukee6units

For Milwaukee tonight pitcher is Vargas(2-0) era.3,68,29 strikeouts in 22 innings, and what is important against Pittsburgh he have 3-0 with era 1.8.just great. On the other side we have P.Mahlom (1-3) era 5.28,only 14 strikeouts in 29 innings, and against brewers he have 2-1 and era 3.54.

Yesterday brewers lost 4-2 and tonight it is payback time!!!Vargas have good record against Pittsburgh and he is better pitcher than Mahlom.Vargas will only need a support of his team, and i believe they will hit more today than yesterday!!!!

Oakland at Tampa BAy pick Oakland4 units

Okland pitcher Dan Haren (3-2) era 1.6 :D 9walks and 24 strikeouts in 39 innings!!he is facing C.FOssum (2-2) era 8.58 6 walks and 16 strikeouts ina 28 innings!!We have here supirior pitcher harren of course who is 4-1 against tMapa with era 2.48 what is great, and Fossum is 1-2 against oakland with 10.42 era what is not so great!!
I was looking on a preview at the sportsline and saw that oakland is better in every segment of the game.Well that is not quite true!!!Tampa is good team and okland have few important missing and they dont hit quite well in last games(only 20 homers this season),and that is the only problem here!!They have better pitcher who will need only few hits from his team and i think they can provide that!!!

MLB YTD 17W-7L-1P +51.43 units

Sorry for late post. Had a busy day and just got home. No time to look through whole card, so going with 1 team total again.

Los Angeles Dodgers @ Atlanta Braves

Braves team total over 4.5 @ 2.03 (Pinnacle) 5 units

This is relatively low total with Brett Tomko pitching for the Dodgers. He has been decent, but has clearly been pitching over his head and overachieving some. Tomko is very mediocre pitcher and throughout his career he has performed much less effectively in his road starts. I don't put much importance in career h2h numbers, but Tomko has been hit hard in the past by many of the players in the current Braves lineup and has a lifetime 0-3 record with a 9.18 ERA at the Turner Field. The Braves are among the top 3 lineups in the National League and have power throughout the order. Dodgers bullpen is good, but i like Atlantas chances to score some runs today. There's some value in this team total bet imo.

GL everyone!
