Very early thoughts; I can see myself backing Athletic Bilbao, Barcelona, Villarreal, Espanyol and Real Betis with/without asian handicaps. Will wait until info about injuries/suspension.

I agree very much about Athletic.. Athletic playing better on the road, without pressure and the responsibility of controlling the match! Athletic looks only to miss Amorebieta in this one, not important, and they will move Yeste in behind the attacker and Gabilondo on the left flank! We all know Atletico at home, playing tight matches, but having problems creating chances! Atletico will be without Antonio Lopez on LB, but Pernia should easily step in - making no difference!!
- I'm thinking about the AH offer from Betsson here - 3,7 on Bilbao level ball is pure value to me!
Furthermore I'm thinking about backing Depor in Villarreal - In my book odds on Villarreal at home shouldn't be under 2,00 in any match! - but I haven't got team news yet!
Getafe can't get better opportunity facing Valencia, who will be without Villa, Vicente and Baraja - this should be a pretty equal match - Getafe has shown excellent form at home lately, but didn't perform well in Santander last week!! Getafe's defender Alexis in doubt! Canbet offering 2.11 on AH on Getafe and Expekt.com offers 2,95 for victory!!
Furthermore late news where Kanoute is in doubt for the Seville derby, perhaps adds value tounder 2,5 goals at odds 1,66 - but I'll think more about this!!
Furthermore I'm thinking about backing Depor in Villarreal - In my book odds on Villarreal at home shouldn't be under 2,00 in any match! - but I haven't got team news yet!
Hmmm, I think I have to disagree with you on this one. The last weaks have been very good for Villarreal. They won against Athletic Bilbao and Real Madrid and drew against Sevilla before they lost to Recréativo last week. A little bit unfait this loss, as all three goals were personal errors, and shots on goal etc very similar, and Villarreal actually had the ball 58% of the time!
This week they have signed Caceres, Vidangossy and AYALA, and will give them a big boost as a team - even though these wont play until next season. The Riquelme-drama is solved (he is going to Boca Juniors the next four months) Matias / Tomasson showed great form in Wednesday's national-matches.
Venta, Jose Mari and probably Marcos will return, and Senna/Jose Enrique have gotten rid of their little knocks, and will be able to play. Pires and Gonzalo very soon ready after their long-term injuries, so all in all very much positive news at Villarreal lately.
Deportivo has yet to win away this season, have a goal df 4-19, and were VERY lucky to get away with a ponit against Real Zaragoza last away-match. They wont have as much twice in a row, so I might back Villarreal in this one.
First of all, I think your thoughts are interesting about this game.. Before making my points about this match I have to say that I ment backing Depor X2 or laying Villarreal, but more about this later...
First of all, if you have watched Villarreal's home games this season you would agree, that they haven't performed very well.. The matches against Real Madrid and Sevilla, yes good results, but you cannot really say that neither was in good form at the meeting!! Real was crap, showing this again last week against Levante!! Sevilla played unmotivated in the match at El Madrigal - so in my book even though they got 4 points against good sides on the paper, both teams weren't more than average in the games!! - and most importantly Villarreal didn't play well in any of these two games!!
About the Recreativo game - yes it was a quite tight game, but I wouldn't say Recre's second goal was that big mistake, and furthermore Cygan has shown these "moves" all season, so I wouldn't call it "unlucky" or something which is unsual for his performances!! Ball possesion, well Villarreal has had much ball possesion in their away games in general, but I just don't like what they are doing with it - they have no game plan!!
About Matias Fernandez and Jon Dahl Tomasson - I was one of the people who had great expectations concerning Matias F., but seeing the games I haven't seen him making an impact yet - I must say I'm quite dissapointed with his performances yet, but hope he'll adapt and develope as a player!! Jon Dahl Tomasson, I have difficulties seeing him becoming a succes.. he's not a box player, but favourite position is right behind the target player!! The reason why he plays in the box on the national team is a result of bad players for that position - he could get his confidence back with 3 goals in two matches, but just remember that Jon Dahl always have scored many goals on the danish national team (47 goals in 87 matches)!!
I agree with you that the Villarreal players coming back will strengthen the squad - no doubt about that!
Deportivo hasn't been a succes on the road this year. I totally agree that they were very lucky to get a point in Zaragoza, but Zaragoza and Villarreal are too very different stories this season!! - and furthermore Depor hasn't lost yet in the new year!
I just think Deportivo has the qualities, which will make Villarreal struggle - and luckily football is more than statistics! The entire front line from Depor has got moves and some speed too (Riki, Arizmendi, Christian, Estoyanoff) - two things that Villarreal hasn't been appreciating much this season!
One more important fact! Andrade back in defense makes it a whole lot better! Since Andrade returned they have only lost once - against in-form Sevilla, which was his first match!! Afterwards they haven't lost playing with him, at home or away!! He brings much more stability to the defense!
It's good that there are different opinions in the forum, and I appreciate that you also give your point of view!! I just don't fully agree - but I wish you good luck whatever you decide!
Villarreal should be favourites - but odds 2,15 , which is highest on the market at the moment, is way too low, especially as I haven't seen them making any quality appearances at home yet!!
I have seen Villarreal quite often this season, as I have watched them against Real Madrid x2, Deportivo La Coruña, Levante, Valencia, Athletic Bilbao, Valladolid x2, Barcelona, Sevilla, Real Zaragoza, Recréativo Huelva and Atletico Madrid - 13 times at all, maybe more. Not so strange, since I am a supporter of this team. As I have said this, I have to explain that my feelings for the club not affects my views on Villarreal-matches in a gamble-perspective.
They were disappointing at El Madrigal in almost every match in the autumn, but I saw BIG steps against Sevilla and Real Madrid. I clearly have to disagree with your statement about Villarreal not playnig good in these two matches. Yes, Real Madrid and Sevilla have not been -so- good recently, but still - they have quality-players, big potensial etc. It is for a reason that Villarreal got four points out of these games, and that is not the opponents weak side! Villarreal showed great anticipaiton, pace, aggresivity, passing-game and skills in these two matches, especially against Real Madrid. I was VERY impressed by Villarreal in these two matches, so were all my companions/fellow viewers, but who knows - maybe you have a higher level of impressive football :-)
Their style of play have changed a lot since the Riquelme-problems. They struggled the first games after the winter-break, but have shown very good progress last games. They play more with their wings, passing-style is a lot quicker and more players are involved offensively. Before this, they laid all on Riquelme and just expected him to do all the work. Now they cant do that anymore.
About the second goal in Huelva, I see this as another blooper from Viera. Goal-corner, slow down etc - not a good perfomance.
I agree that Matiás Fernández have been a small disappointment. Not for me personally, as I expected that he needed time to develop and furthermore, but others wanted him to dominate the games already. I think the journey back to South-America could have been good to him, as he showed a good performance against Paraguay - but all in all the statistics dont back him to dominate this game. BUT, Tomasson - well, we have a different opinion about the Dane. As you see, I am from Norway and have seen Jon Dahl A LOT of times, and I think he suits both the box-position, and the laid-back striker. You saw him score two on Wednesday as a box-player, so ;-)
This is my opinion about Villarreal in this match. Viera - Venta/Josemi, Fuentes, Cygan, Jose Enrique - Cani/Matiás, Senna, Josico, Marcos - Forlan, Tomasson/Franco should have a good chance to get all points from Deportivo, IF they continue their progress from recent home-games. But, as we have a different view on this factor, I see why you are backing Depor.
I just dont see the value when they have such a bad record in away-games. Yes, they have a good "mid" with Arizmendi, Riki, Aouate, Capdevila, Andrade and Hidalgo - but I see a little weakness with the rest of the squad. Caparros did what he use to do when he's new at a club, cleaned up in the squad and brought in a lot young, potensial players, like Verdu, Barragan, Filipe etc.
Let me just look at the results in this seasons away-matches:
0-0 Mallorca - fair result
0-2 Levante - fair result
1-1 Betis - a little bit lucky
0-2 Getafe - fair result
0-0 Nástic - many chances both ways, Depor biggest
1-4 Osasuna - not a chance
0-4 Valencia - not a chance
1-1 Recré - a little bit lucky
1-1 Real Zaragoza - extremely lucky
After the break they have played eight matches without loosing - a very good performance. They got their winning-goal ag Mallorca last weekend on a penalty, and really didnt impress in that game. Deportivo dont have the quality to finish top10 this season, their squad is too unstable and little (with quality-players), and I see their run stop very soon.
All i all, I'm waiting for the Depor-squad to be announced, but I see the value at Villarreal here. Not quite as much as 50% winning-chanse, but close to. I have respect for your views on the match, but it seems that we are having a different conclusion.
Good luck anyway :-)

Betis - Sevilla draw
It's my pick of the weekend. I have seen the cup match between these two teams and it was a real derby game. None of those teams had a chance to score and it was quite boring game. I don't expect anything more from this game either, because winning this game means much for Sevilla city teams, so i think we will see very carefull football and draw.
I would also try to bet for correct result 0-0 and 1-1 and for Under .
@Veland
About their home games that you refered to, I wasn't that impressed!! Yes, more pace, but I just haven't seen them create that many chances - especially not against Sevilla, better against Real Madrid, but Real was awful in that match!!
About Jon Dahl Tomasson - he just isn't a natural box-player - he likes to roam around in the midfield, just like Forlan is starting doing much more this season!! His natural position isn't in the box - too weak psysically and not good with the head! He's got great finishing abilities - no doubt about it - but a box player he really isn't! I like Tomasson very much as a player, but just doesn't think he suits Villarreal! So we defenitely disagree about that!
About you being a fan, well my favourite team is also Villarreal, but objectively not much to be positive about, except newcomers as Jose Enrique and Marcos + hopefully a new coach next season!!
No doubt Villarreal has qualities, - on the other hand I cannot share your enthusiasm about their "form"! They showed better things against Real definetely, but imo you also have to focus on Real's awful display in that match! - and about the Sevilla match (surely nothing to be impressed about)
All in all I appreciate your opinion, but don't agree in it all - but it just make it even more interesting being involved in this forum!! For now I'll just accept our different views and be happy about us sharing the same thoughts about Athletic Bilbao :D But thanks for a interesting discussion!! :)

@Mprafter
Cool that you also are a Villarreal-supporter, not so many of us. Dont know if you are from Spain, but here in Norway there is just three of us (that I know about). I actually started a supporter-site for Villarreal in Norwegian, so I have very much info about the club (http://www.norskefans.com/spania/villarreal). I have insiders in the club and friends in Vila-Real. All of them are greating about the the good atmosphere recently, although it was compared to when the Roig/Pellegrini/Riquelme/Forlan-noice was as its worse.
Good to have different opinions, the world would have been a boring place if everybody meant the same. I can see what you are talking about the Real Madrid-match - yes, they were awful. But I have a view that says that Real Madrid were awful because of two things; 1. Their own play (or lack of play) and 2. Villarreals perfomance. I have the feelig that if Real Madrid had played against type Mallorca, La Real etc, they could have won this match. It is also a factor that it was the first time ever, in 16 attempts, that Villarreal won against Real Madrid!
Players like Jose Enrique, Senna, Marcos, Josico (partly), Tomasson and Cygan have been very good (recently), and hopefully Forlan will get the connection with Matiás. I am not an optimistic supporter of natur, more like a pessimist, but against Deportivo La Coruña I really fancy our chances.
Thanks for the discussion!

Barcelona - Santander
Odds on HW are too low but here´s one interesting bet. Barcelona welcomes Eto after 4 months. He did play about 10 minutes against Osasuna but it was more to gain some match fitness. Furthermore Messi is also back- and from what the Spanish press say-he is even better prepared than Eto. After missing the Portugal game, Ronaldinho already trained with the squad and will also be ready to play. Sylvinho is out for a month but he is not that important as he became the 3rd option on left back ever since Rijkaard removed Zambrotta there. Thuram is the only player who Barca misses ATM.
On the other hand Santander without Zigic and Munitis and I cannot see them score at Nou Camp. I already took them not to score @2, local bookie.
Real Sociedad - Real Madrid = 2
Todays match is between number 19 : Real Sociedad and number 4 : Real Madrid.
To look a litte bit on the statistics, then Real Sociedad has won 2 times, played draw 3 time and lost 6 times this season at home.
Their form in the last 6 matches, says 1 won, 2 draw and 3 lost and a goalscore of 2-5. 3 of the goals against them were scored inside the last 10 minutes.
Real Madrid has an statistics saying : 7 won, 0 Draw and 4 lost this season away. And their current form in 6 matches says 2 won, 0 draw and 4 lost. And a goalscore of 2-7, where 6 of the goals were scored just befor halftime (inside 40-50 minut).
Most of professional gamblers would play against Real Madrid, for example 1X on Sociedad, but both teams has a poor period, but i think that real madrid will win this match, because of hard fight, their experience and a goal scored by Van Nistelrooy :-)
And with the odds right now, saying 2.06 at betfair.com, it sounds like a good catch. !

My views about Saturdays matches:
REAL SOCIEDAD - REAL MADRID
Home-team still struggling on the bottom of the table, and have a poor statistic at home. Still misses Novo, Victor Lopez, Mikel Alonso and Ansotegi, and this week also Gari Uranga, Jesuli and Garitano is out of team. Have shown a little bit more progress lately, drew against Sevilla and haven't conceded as many goals as in the beginning.
Real Madrid in a bit of a crisis, but is still among the gold-chasers. Have lost 4 of 6 last league-games ag Recré, Deportivo, Villarreal and Levante, and have shown poor quality this year. Has the potensial, as always, but doesn't get it out. Marcelo, Cassano, Carlos and Cicinho missing.
I see a boring and goal-lacking match here. 5 of 5 games for visitors under 2,5, and only one goal in last four games. Dont have an offensive plan, and Ruud is very poor at the moment. 13 of last 15 Real Sociedad-matches under 2,5, including last four. Is hardly scoring goals (12 on 21 matches), so this game could easily end 0-0/0-1/1-0/1-1/2-0/0-2.
Under 2,5 goals # 1,70 # Expekt # 5/10
REAL BETIS - SEVILLA
You can compare this match-up with those as River Plate - Boca Juniors, Barcelona - Real Madrid, Fenerbahce - Galatasaray and others rival-matches. The city of Sevilla is divided in two parts, the rich/poor, the social-class and the working-class. The fight for the top of the table vs the fight for survival. The hosts have improved their play lately after the hiring of Luis Fernández. Draw against Barcelona and victory against Valencia and Athletic Bilbao is storng results. Misses Edu, Juanito and Nano. Sevilla on the other hand hasn't been that impressive lately, although they have a three game unbeaten-run. Two draws against Villarreal and Real Sociedad and a victory over Levante. Kanoute back in squad, and only CD Escude is missing. The teams met at Sevilla's stadium ten days ago and played a goal-less draw. I can see this game going towards the same, Sevilla only won two of last ten games and the Manuel Ruiz de Lopera and Betis on a an up-trent lately.

Fabio Capello has rubbished suggestions player power is behind David Beckham's surprise recall to the first-team squad at Real Madrid.
The former England captain was today named in the squad for tomorrow's Primera Liga match against Real Sociedad, the first time head coach Capello has picked him since Beckham announced he will leave in the summer to join Major League Soccer's Los Angeles Galaxy.
Capello declared at the time Beckham would not play for the club again, but has since softened that stance with the club struggling for form.
However, the Italian refuted rumours that senior squad members had pushed for Beckham's reinstatement.
'The only thing has influenced me has been Beckham's work and attitude,' Capello said.
'I have spoken with him and he is very happy, as we are.'
Capello admitted he was sceptical over Beckham's commitment to the Madrid cause following his decision to see out his contract and agree a five-year deal with the Galaxy, which reportedly could be worth up to £128million.
'We had doubts after he signed such an important contract with the Los Angeles Galaxy that he could play and train with the same desire,' Capello said.
'This week he has taken part in training perfectly. He has always had the support of his team-mates, the only doubts we had were about his desire.
'He has behaved like a great professional and he returns to the squad.'
Capello's decision represents a remarkable U-turn from his and sporting director Predrag Mijatovic's previous stance, which both appeared to be sticking to earlier in the week.
When asked if Beckham should have been involved for last Sunday's defeat to Levante, Capello said: 'He [Beckham] has been here three years and the results have not been good.
'We are trying a new line-up, and I am waiting for important players [to return from injury]. I am convinced by my decisions. For example, he played against Depor and we lost.'
While Mijatovic said on Monday: 'Beckham has been a great professional these years, but he has decided to leave for another team.
'Now we want to give more opportunities to the younger players so they have more minutes.'
However, Beckham has had support from within the Madrid side, with one of the team's three captains, Guti, stating this week he would like to see the former Manchester United star return to the side.

Agree with you. Morever, it is a MUST win for Capello if not, I see real big problem for him to stay on his position at Real Madrid. He was nearly being sacked if not for the draw for Barcelona last week. Real madrid when in full form, can really trouble Socidad!
...it is a MUST win for Capello if not, I see real big problem for him to stay on his position at Real Madrid. He was nearly being sacked if not for the draw for Barcelona last week. Real madrid when in full form, can really trouble Socidad!
Fully agree here, Real Madrid can really trouble Sociedad and I think they can grab a point today.
Sociedad (+0.5) - R Madrid
Real Sociedad deservedly grab one point in Sevilla's Sánchez Pizjuán in a game they were focused in defense and waste a great opportunity 10minutes to the end to take all 3 points! This was a gold point, still Sociedad has many fights to give in order to gain the salvation. They are 8 points below relegation limit and each point would be crucial from now on. An now they are hosting Madrid a team that traditionally straggles in Basques' and Spanish north grounds such as Riazor, San Mamés, Sardinero and Reyno de Navarra (ex El Sadar). Anoeta will be packed today. Los "txuri urdin" will fight till death today, for points, morale and pride.
Miguel Angel Lotina won't be able to count on Gaizka Garitano, Jesuli (important mid) and Gari Uranga (fw). Top scorer Díaz de Cerio, is back. Experienced mid Aranburu will be in the 11, where Germán Herrera, Skoubo and Kovacevic are candidates for a place in attack.
Real Madrid in crisis, lost another game in a row this time in Bernabeu to Levante by 0-1, with the fans of the club shaking white handkerchiefs in a sing of disapproval. Fabio Capello playing his head here and manifested that the victory is the only acceptable result against Sociedad. During the week Madrid trained without several internationals, such as Miguel Torres, Casillas, Sergio Ramos, Diarra, Robinho and Fernando Gago, while Alvaro Mejía and Raúl Bravo, where sidelined. These two are out and Cicinho, Marcelo, Roberto Carlos remains in the injury list.
Beckham who costs Madrid 56.849 euros per day, is back in the squad !! Cannavaro and Gago are fit again and Guti, Raúl overcome minor problems during the week.
Real Sociedad: Bravo - Garrido, Mikel González, Juanito, Gerardo - Aranburu, Elustondo, Xabi Prieto, Savio - Germán Herrera or Skoubo.
Real Madrid: Casillas, Sergio Ramos, Helguera, Cannavaro, Torres, Diarra, Gago, Raúl, Guti, Higuaín, Van Nistelrooy.
h2h: 5-4-3
Sociedad will fight 'till the end and judging by Madrid's recent performances, los donostiarras have an opportunity to obtain another positive result that will give them morale and grading boost! A home win is not out of the question, but both teams will have their excuses for not winning this. I see draw as the most probable outcome, so I took Sociedad's +0.5 (double chance1X).
Pick: H, Odds: 1.96, Stake: 6, Bookmaker: Pinnacle

Very interesting discussion btween Velant and Mprafter regarding Villarreal and Deportivo !!
Personaly I agree with Mprafter that Villarreal shown nothing spectacular against Sevilla (0-0) but I agrre with Velant that Villarreal was realy amazing against Real Madrid! In that game they proved that they are not an one man (Riquelme) team, and things will start getting much better from now on.
Regarding the game against Deportivo, we shall see tomorow ;)

Indeed imo it was more good villareal than bad rivals in a league with many teams on equal forces the same goes for levante at bernabeu it was a mix of bad real and good levante regarding tomoorow game
again Imho key parameter may be striking force arizmendi/riki facing forlan/tomasson its like heavyweight ag welter !! both team are hard to overplay atm so that may be decisive point on th eother hand off pitch matters benefit locals with signings opoused to debts and riquelme finally out of town while duscher/capdevila also out of town for good !!
cheers :)

I think you are right, Santander is to weak without the killer pair up front so I
expect a big win for barca 3 maybe 4 - 0 because finaly Ronaldinho and Eto play together. Maybe the margin wont be that big but H/F 1-1 is good for me.What do you think? Good luck

Betis – Sevilla
On Saturday night we shall see a most intresting game! The second Sevilla derdy of the season!
Less than two weeks ago the teams met in the Spanish Cup and then the match ended in a goalless draw. Sevilla dominated, especially in the second half, but there were very few moments. Betis took away a draw. Now i am sure, that Betis is not thinking about a draw, all will be done to win. This is actualy quite logical. A win against Sevilla would prove that the teams recent successful run is not a fluke. Betis is on wonderful form right now. The same cannot be said about Sevilla – only one win in five matches. That is too little to feel comfortable before the big match against archrival Betis. I believe that the time has come for Betis to win, as they are on form and just now they must show their whole potential. The home crows and the biggest rival will only help them reach their goal!
Handicap (0) for the home side for 2.15 looks splendid!

Real Sociedad - Real Madrid
Real Sociedad w/o: Garitano, Uranga, and Jesuli
Real Madrid w/o: Cicinho, Marcelo, Roberto Carlos, Mejía and Raúl Bravo
Real Madrid in a giant slump, performing awfully! This match is very open. Sociedad with some losses, but still quality players in midfield!
What really ennoys me is, that Real Madrid plays so low in the field! They often haven't got constant ball possession on the opponents half as in their glory days (years ago) - and the defensive approach from Capello makes Real so "non-dangerous", only trying long balls for Van Nistelrooy, who is neither pacey or able to beat a man (he's a box player and would perform better if Real had the ball more on the opp.'s half)!
The big question will be about Real's offense, if it continues like recent matches the match will properly end 1-0, 0-0 or 0-1!
On the other hand Sociedad's offense doesn't look that well either, imo it has to come from Savio (maybe set pieces)! Difficult to see many goals here in a match which I won't belive will be a beauty, but can't expect it to be boring - Sociedad will fight hard, and maybe Real will too (who knows....)!
Close match in diffult period in the season for both! I have some good feelings about this match, especially watching a very stabile and organized Sociedad defensive in Sevilla! Real Madrid could win, but if they do they will struggle doing it - and why shouldn't their slump not really continue - ad hoc arguments like Real Madrid doesn't lose 3 matches in a row doesn't mean much here, when Real Madrid doesn't perform as a "big" team! I'll go, like Litost, for the upset!
Probable line-ups:
REAL SOCIEDAD: Bravo; Garrido, Mikel González, Juanito, Gerardo; Aranburu, Elustondo, Xabi Prieto, Savio; Germán Herrera, Skoubo.
REAL MADRID: Iker Casillas; Sergio Ramos, Helguera, Cannavaro, Torres; Diarra, Gago; Raúl, Guti, Higuaín; Van Nistelrooy.
Betis-Sevilla
Betis w/o: Juanito, Nano, Enrique Romero, David Odonkor and Edu
Sevilla w/o: Escudé (regular CD), Duda and Ocio
Everything points in Betis' direction as others already have mentioned in other posts- especially their form is in a uptrend at the moment, and Sevilla not really with playing with flow like before Christmas... Luis Fernandez said earlier this week that they weren't going to play too offensively - if implemented it could be very good chioce as Sevilla has been struggling creating chances!!
On the other hand Kanoute is ready for this match, and this fact is very important - game flows much better with him on the pitch - usually Sevilla likes to play the ball to Kanoute from one of the two CM and he pushes the ball out on the flank for the pacey wings, giving them the opportunity to take the ball forward and challenging their opponent + he's more dangerous than Kerzhakov/Chevanton!
Looking at the odds, I have difficulties finding value! Sevilla should be small favourites - they definetely got better players, and if they play well properly will win! - Still its a derby (the most crazy one too..) and Betis is in a uptrend!! Very difficult to back any of these teams - I understand people backing Betis, but not sure there is value in it!! thinking about Kanoute is back, and Sevilla could make a good display as they will be fired for the match!!
I'll stay away..
Real Betis: Doblas, Ilic, Melli, Rivas, Fernando Vega, Arzu, Vogel, Assunçao, Sobis, Fernando, Robert
Sevilla: Palop, Daniel Alves, Javi Navarro, Dragutinovic, David, Jesús Navas, Poulsen, Maresca, Adriano, Luis Fabiano, Kanouté
Betis Sevilla
Pick: Under 2.5
Stake: 8/10 Odds: 1.65
Bookmaker: Expekt
Two defense teams coming on the pich. Look at statistic Sevilla:
04-02 H Real Sociedad U- 0:0
01-02 H Betis U- 0:0
28-01 U Levante V- 2:4
20-01 U Villarreal U- 0:0
o : o very popular result. But I go for sure under in this game. So in the Copa del Rey some day ago result was 0:0. Today mach also very important for Sevilla. Nothing more to add.
Good luck! :D
Hi,

Levante - Recreativo de Huelva: Recreativo +0.25 @1.80, Gamebookers
Stake 5
Levante is the third from the bottom in Spanish League. They are candidates to go to Segunda Division this year and in order to prevent that, they have signed a new trainer, Abel Resino.
They play better since then, and the last week, they defeated to Real Madrid (with a lot of internal troubles) in Santiago Bernabeu stadium 0-1. But they have troubles when they play at home, and Recreativo Huelva is a very difficult team.
Both teams played the last year in Segunda Division, but Recreativo is near UEFA positions now. They have signed good players, as Sinama-Pongolle (ex-Liverpool) and Santi Cazorla (ex-Villarreal). The forwards will be Sinama and the nigerian Uche. They are one of the best couples of forwards in Spain. Recreativo defeated the last week at Villarreal 2-1, and usually make good matchs when they play away. They have defeated teams as Real Madrid, Villarreal, Celta Vigo and Espanyol playing as visiting team.
The last victory of Levante against Real Madrid makes that Levante is favourite for this match, butI think that Recreativo ought to be favourite here.
Line-up:
Levante: Molina, Manolo, Dehu, Alexis, Rubiales, Riga, Camacho, Berson, Robert, Nino y Salva.
Recreativo: López Vallejo, Edu Moya, Beto, Pablo Amo, Poli, Cazorla, Jesús Vázquez, Barber, Aitor, Sinama Pongolle y Uche
Regards.
Athletico - Atletic
It will be very interesting match at Vicente Calderon where Atletico will host Atheltic Bilbao. Both sides aren't satisfied how things go on this season. Home side missed chance to take place in the first four with only one point from last two matches. They failed to beat Racing at home and after that they were defeated against Valencia. Main problem for Atletico is that they definitely have troubles breaking well-organized defences. After they conceded first goal against Valencia they tried to make pressure but they hadn’t enough quality to breakdown strong Valencia defence. Counter-attacks are their main weapon and that is reason why they are better as away side this season. They collected equal number of points but they have one match more on home ground. Also they scored three goals more as away team. Coach Aguire will reshuffle attacking formation once again. It is question who will be up front with Torres, Mista who scored last week or Aguero or both of them. Anyway Aguire will try to find key combination but he will need a lot of time to catch the right form. Supporters are disappointed with team performance in last two matches and pressure will rise. It could be problem cause Atletico hasn’t enough players that can take responsibility in hard situations and they know to fail when it’s important.
On the other hand Atletic Bilbao is out relegation zone thanks to goal difference. They have 22 points as Celta and Levante has but they have better goal difference. Hard season for them and it is obviously that they can’t stay in the Primera with only Basquies players. They have young, inexperienced squad and they have to be satisfied with performances of their team. They are also better as away side and they recorded only one defeat in last five away matches but they failed to collect points at San Mames. Betis took all three points last weekend from Bilbao but week before that Athletic won Basques derby against Sosiedad. Experienced winger Etxeberia and Luis Prietto will be back in a team and it could stabilize form and they will have more confidence. Atletic has only two away victories but six draws and the coach Esnal will be satified with another one.
I think that Atletico still has problems to score in home matches and visitors could use that. I expect very though game with lot of duels in the midfield. Draw on 3.30 is my choice, but Under 2 or Under 2.5 could be a good bet also.

about the game MALLORCA - ZARAGOZA and LEVANTE - HUELVA ? any info ? any missings ?
What the **** is happening...
Every thing I touch turns to ****...
Real Madrid won 4 times in the last 10 games and in the 3 of them I bet against them...
Strategy changed, at least for now :)
2007-02-11 Barca wins with 2 - or fewer goals scored
This bets is: "Barcelona to win with 2 or fewer goals scored in the match".
Lionel Messi is back again but next to Eto he will start from the bench, eager to injoy some minutes in the second part. Rijkaard will field the same team as he did in the last two games, with Rafael Márquez as defensive half and José Edmilson in the center of defense next to Puyol. In the right back position shall be Oleguer, with Zambrotta again in the left. In frond of Marquez, there are Xavi and Deco responsible for the creation part. Iniesta (in formed), Saviola and Ronaldinho (fit again but didn't trained for 10 days) will be the attacking trio. Forwards Gudjohnsen and Ezquerro are out of the squad.
Racing without two important forwards Pedro Munitis and Nicola Zigic, with coach Miguel Angel Portugal changinbg his middle line again to prevent Barca's fast moves and pace. Keeper Toño and mid Vitolo are back. Toño has already done enough mistakes so far and Racing lost some points because of him. His first was against Barca in the first round, and it was just in time that Racing was pushing to open the score... He is on fire to prove something here and I don't expect silly mistakes from him today.
FC Barcelona: Valdés - Oleguer, Puyol, Edmilson, Zambrotta - Márquez, Xavi, Deco - Iniesta, Ronaldinho, Saviola.
Racing: Toño - Pinillos, Rubén, Garay, Oriol - Scaloni, Vitolo, Colsa, Serrrano - Balboa, Juanjo.
h2h: 10-1-0
All in all it won't be that easy for Barca to overcome Racing. The visitors are missing their fire power and this makes them incapable of scoring today. But they have a strong middle line that prevents and destroy and today they will be a nut hard to crack, as Litost said! I aslo think that X/1 half time/full time is quite probable, but I will stick to this "quatro" Ladbrokes offers. Cover bet for this could be 3-0 final score. If you see Racing scoring forget it...
Good luck!

2007-02-11 Getafe 1X with 2 - or fewer goals scored
"Getafe to win or draw with 2 or fewer goals scored in the match"
Talking about a full power 4 wheel drive Valencia, we talk about Villa, Vicenta, Albelda and Canizares. The first two are missing today and this makes Valencia losing much of their offensive power. Yeap, Morientes proved his killer instincts in the last game but without Vicente and Villa to open room, crosses and attacks, Morientes who is a box player, won't have much to do. Angulo as a striker ain't efficient. Getafe is in full squad and Bernd Schuster knows that Valencia love to play on counters. After all this is what Valencia did in the last game against Atletico at home, striking rojiblancos with their "on the road" tactic, the 'contras'! So Getafe won't be stupid to attack, but their priority will be to cover their back!
Getafe: Abbondanzieri - Cortés, Belenguer, Tena, Paredes - Mario Cotelo, Celestini, Casquero, Nacho - Manu, Güiza.
Valencia: Cañizares - Miguel, Ayala, Albiol, Moretti - Joaquín, Albelda, Marchena, Silva - Angulo, Morientes
I expect a low scoring game and most probably a draw, so this "quatro" covers everything!
This also need some luck!

Hi mate!
don't trust this site too much. They try to do their best I guess but this is way far from reality. When you see all these players with stars above them missing, it's quite obvious you are missleaded.
Baiano as you said is out but this source of yours says "QUESTIONABLE". And he is not just a 3 stars player, he is a ****** one ;)
I think that the best english site with Spanish and not only previews, is:
http://www.sportinglife.com/football/overseas/
Celta is missing his best man, striker Baiano and this forced coach to changed his starting formation for the first time in the last two years!! Celta is fielding a 4-4-2 formation a formation that their fans want and probably fit better in struggling Celta. But Baiano is out and we don't know how they will react today.
Espanyol wellcomes back important mid De La Pena and mid Moises. But also important striker Tamudo and important cd Jarque are out. Tamudo is more important than Pena on the road and when Jarque missed lately, Espanyol was thrusted by Gimnastic (4-0).
Hard game to perdict...

Mallorca Zaragoza
It is the third in row outdoor game for Zaragoza. The 2 preceding ones the team has played perfectly, defeated in Barcelona in turn Barcelona and Espanyol. Zaragoza is in good spirits before their departure on islands. Things are going to be fine in team. That is very important right now, when there is high density in the upper rows of fixture list. Mallorca has got 2 wins in that year but i wont to have the heart to say that their game is confident. For example, in last tour, playing with Deportivo, Mallorca absolutely doesnt't know what to do when there was their turn to win back. Also i cant say that Mallorca's home games are succesful - they have 2 wins in 11 games. The favourites are the guests and i bet on them.
Pick: Away Handicap (0) 1,7
Stake: 3%
Gimnastic Osasuna
Osasuna looked sufficiently confidently in game with Barcelona, that was finished 0-0. The visit to the same region team will be easier. Gimnastic has surprised us when he has defeated Espanyol but that is the only ocasion to boast. The team is at the last position and has a chance to get one step hire, not more.
After very resulting games first games of this year and last games of the previous year, Osasuna has realized 3 matches in a row without goals. This can be explained by the rival level: Athletico, Barcelona and Hetafe are not such kind of teams to play attacking football with. In this match Osasuna will get an opportunity to show all her skills. The handicap(0) for guests is pricing at 1.80, let's play this odd.
Pick: Away Handicap (0) 1,8
Stake: 3%
Atletico Athletic
Atletico has been defeated by Valencia in last tour first of all because of unpardonable mistakes in their defence, which have been perfectly used by Morientes. It is very strange that exactly defence has let down, during the season the defence line has be considered as the most reliable in the team.
In last 2 matches madrids have got only one point. That has been used by Zaragoza. One more mistake can throw away Atletico for a long period from the strugle for CL.
Athletics playing also doesnot look simple. Wins are foolowed by loses in illogical sequence.
I think that Atletico will win. In spite of their poor playing at home they are obliged to win. This match will be like match with Osasuna. But it seems that Atletico get used to this kind of games. The madrids are not inferior to Athletic in character and this is the only quality that basques are able to show in this match. The odd is 1,85 for home to win, let's play it.
Pick: Home win 1,85
Stake: 3%
Barcelona Racing
At first lets take a look at staff.
For Barca we have Ronaldinho, Messi and Eto returning. It is unlikely that the last two ones will play in the starting staff.
In Racing we have an absence of two leaders, practically the only Racing forwards Zhigich and Munitis.
For their last 5 visits on Camp Nou santanders have lost all the 5 matches with goal difference 17-2!
In that year Racing is undoubtedly strong team without failure series. For all the season Racing has got only one great defeat, it was exactly in match with Barca.
Barca, due to returning of three players, will be in good spirits, also incentiving by their rival point loss. In game with Racing there is no need for Barca to hurry up, in such favourable conditions it is unlikely that Barca will limit itself by minimal goal advantage, thats why handicap Barca(-1,5) it's not quite a risk, lets play this.
Pick: Home Handicap (-1,5) 1,75

Sorry for short info, but you know.. the time..
Celta Vigo - Espanyol
Celta MAYBE without Baiano, CD Lequi definitly out. Espanyol without Tamudo, Zabaleta, Jarque and Costa - gets back De La Peña and Moises. Celta looking for a win for the first time in 10 matches, and I think they can get it. They are capable of it, and is now facing a weakened Espanyol. Coach Vazquez is in trouble and is changing formation for this match, can turn out both ways. Valverde misses the two most inportant players (expept form DLP), and they lost two in a row against Nástic and Zaragoza.
Celta Vigo (0) ¤ 1.67 ¤ BlueSquare ¤ 5/10
Getafe - Valencia
Both teams with big misses; home-team Alexis, Pulido, Sousa and Contra - Valencia with Villa, Vicente and Baraja. These teams met in CdR not long ago, and Getafe won 4-2 at Mestalla and drew 1-1 at the Coloseum. They are very strong at home, with just three goals conceded, and Valencia will struggle to score w/o Villa. But can Getafe score? 10 goals in 10 matches, Güiza on fire - but it can be difficult. Valencia in good form in the league, and have a strong team even with these absent players.
Getafe - Valencia X/X ¤ 5,50 ¤ 10Bet ¤ 2/10
Under 2,5 goals ¤ 1,60 ¤ BetSafe ¤ 5/10
Gimnástic Tarragona - Osasuna
Nástic welcomes back Makukula, Gil, Irurzun and Cuellar, but misses Rubén Cástro and Llera. Osasuna w/o Webo, Delporte and important Puñal. I see this as a got chance for many goals. Both teams have scored/conceded quite a lot of goals lately, so why not against eachother?
Over 2,5 goals ¤ 2,15 ¤ Mansion ¤ 4/10
Levante - Recréativo Huelva
Levante misses Tommasi and Alvaro, Recré w/o Javi Guerrero and Juanma. I see a very open match, so no bet for me.
Mallorca - Real Zaragoza
Mallorca have no injury-problems, Zaragoza still without Aimar and also Juanfran. I see the visitors as favourites here. The table, statistics and form says it all, also the teams quality surely is on Zaragoza's side. This DnB-offer is too good to decline, so I will take it with medium/high-stakes. Mallorca in a slump ag Deportivo lately, Zaragoza will a strong win over Espanyol.
Real Zaragoza (0) ¤ 1,89 ¤ CanBet ¤ 7,5/10
Villarreal - Deportivo La Coruña
Everything said in the forum, I will back home-team here.
Villarreal to win ¤ 2,22 ¤ Mansion ¤ 4/10
Two last games will come later.

Where is Baiano maybe and Lequi out carefull with sites on the net that have info from weeks be4 !!
On the last game i fancy Atletico @ 2 (will be later ) 4/10
they are showing some good signs while Athletic tactics dangerous as
shown .

Barcelona - Racing Santander
Not so much to say here. Sevilla took only one point yesterday, and therefore Barcelona have a golden opportunity to get a diffrenece before their tough-program starts. Eto'o, Messi and Ronaldinho are all back, while the visitors misses Zigic & Munitis. 11-1-0 last twelve matches at Nou Camp - clear home-win IMHO.
Barcelona (-1,5) ¤ 1,80 ¤ InterWetten ¤ 9/10
I agree fully with Veland and Litost about Barca tonight!!
About Atletico-Athletic later, I have been spooked as a result of the many missings in CD!! Yeste will be moved to play in the middle - A choice which I fancy, but I'll stay away as Athletic could field Bergera in CD - which makes it impossible to know the strength of Athletic's defense!!

Messy came back to play again , it is great for next matches ..

Real Madrid must thank becks for his leveller otherwise real wont be able to bounce.
Sevilla is another gimmick team like english wigan whereby they couldnt maintain the pressure to last a full season. a poor waste especially going confidently up to the end of the year.

Blame the keeper mate allowing such cheap goals ag big team is road to 2a wich they certainly are :( ..human does make mistake. it is just one of his rare blunder but overall he is doing ok. :)
My thoughts about some of the weekends matches:
Real Sociedad - Real Madrid
Very opportunistic approach by Real Sociedad - good for them they have Savio signed! In general Sociedad played good, but classic stupid mistakes by the Basque's costed dearly!! Furthermore they so much need a man who can make the goals - I didn't understand why they substituted Kovacevic so early on, but they really lack the last touch..Real Madrid - not much sign of improvement, Beckham did a good job, but also Guti, Raul showed weak form! Classic Real on the road - winning ugly and lucky :D !! I absolutely see no reason for why you shouldn't lay Real next week against Betis (but lets see the odds first!).. Regarding Sociedad next week, another "final" for them, but I could have some doubts about them being able to make a good game ag. Recreativo - it must be hard doing things right, and then losing - could have low morals!!
Betis - Sevilla
Betis definetely started out better, but towards the end Sevilla made some good stuff! I guess the draw was a pretty fair result, but Sevilla's offensive just isn't as good as earlier - they need Renato in good form at the middle and Kanoute in better shape.. Adriano really showed the will and fighting spirit - Jesus Navas just isn't in best form at the moment!! But except from this - as the match progressed I think that Sevilla in some fases showed better things!! Tough match for them next week against Atletico Madrid!!
Getafe - Valencia
No doubt that Getafe is a bad opponent for Valencia.. I think it was decisive that Ayala wasn't in the starting eleven, but also have to say that Getafe was brilliant - doing what they do best, playing direct!! They are so good with the ball in the counters, where many people make the offensive runs, and furthermore their hard-working midfield often give them the opportunities to punish their opponents, when they win the ball in midfield (Hard-working Casquerro and Celestini do excellent job)! When this is said, Valencia still created some chances, both at 0-0, and 0-2, but Pato did excellent job - what a scoop for Getafe!!
- I think it would be dangerous to underestimate Valencia in next weeks match after this appearance!! The result was more due to Getafe's good appearance, than Valencia performing bad - and with great H2H against Barca, Villa back, and a packed Mestalla next weeks match will be very close!!
Barcelona - Racing
Outstanding performance by Barcelona in the second half.. Saviola didn't look good, neither did Marquez imo, but Belletti, Deco, Ronaldinho looked very well, and Iniesta okay too, but missing giant chances!! Racing showed some defensive strength in first half, but they were overmatched in the second! Balboa impressed me somewhat!! In the end quality difference..
Atletico Madrid - Athletic Bilbao
Only saw first half, where Athletic Bilbao should have been in the lead!! Big chances to both Aduriz and Yeste, and Atletico Madrid looked fragile in defensive!! Still Atletico manages to hold ball possesion through the match, and just keep on trying even though it's neither beautiful or interesting!! They remind me somewhat of German teams - boring, but effective! But as earlier said I only saw first half!! What I really miss about Atletico is Maniche making some forward runs.. There isn't enough movement in their offensive play, and in general too many of their players lacks the ability to beat a man!! With the ineffective game from Athletic, they could be in severe trouble against Getafe (but only if they will be motivated, which they weren't against Racing last week)!
Other opionions??

Other opionions??
true
First of all cheers on your views on Villa -Depor
tough still think wins ag Real and draw Sevilla were couse good home play the firepower thing was more wishfull thinking or perhaps depor is too strong atm ,also off pitch matter s could have them unfocus .
My thoughts about some of the weekends matches:
Real Sociedad - Real Madrid
Very opportunistic approach by Real Sociedad - good for them they have Savio signed! In general Sociedad played good, but classic stupid mistakes by the Basque's costed dearly!! IMO Real Sociedad were good overall in the back leaving few gaps still with not so much quality upfront ag defensive players a class above... ,you can not blame locals that secong goals was to demoralizing after good start.
Real on the edge only miracle can save them !!
Betis - Sevilla
Betis definetely started out better, but towards the end Sevilla made some good stuff! I still see Sevilla trying and more solid hopefully can get same form as last year by these dates ,kerzakhov shall help on away matches.
Betis was good and could have won thx to alves presents .

THE PRIDE OF MADRID !! could end up grabing a cl spot at this rythim with guiza so sharp plus Pato flying in style Valencia just face games speculating to much and i'm afrais with the 'monster ' barca awaken they could really pay .
Barcelona - Racing
Outstanding performance by Barcelona in the second half.. As predicted 8) Barca looks steping up some gears with Xavi mastermind and players more focus Rijkaard has so many options now they could cruise in all comp from now on !!
Oh and Etoo this guy is just so childlish it's funny :)
Atletico Madrid - Athletic Bilbao

boring verry verry boring :/
Cheers.
Nice way for the best football player of the year to stop a counter from Sociedad, while a few minutes ago he saw the 1rst yellow card...
Ref didn't give a foul or booked Cannavaro, that would have sent him in the lockerooms...

Real was nule in the first part and almost nothing in the 2nd... Creation zero, pace zero just defense. In the 2nd part they are excussed somehow as they took the lead early (48') but this isn't a big team's approach...
Emerson didn't touch the ball in the 2nd part in 20 minutes and then he got substituted. And why should he bored... Guit, Ruud and Beckham where back to defend...
Sociedad shouldn't be that afraid of their opponents. Lotina should have field the 4-4-2 from the beggining. Savio is all the money in the mid, Arranburu in bad form, sold the ball that won the free-kick -equalizer in 38', trying to drible btwn 3 opponents in his teams area... fatal mistake... He lost many balls and substituted wisely. Jesuli need to camo back.
Prieto with out clear ideas didn't know what to do with the ball, another player in bad form... These two are among the most importants players and should find their form sooner or later otherwise....
Locals played with passion, but had no really chances to score (of course much more than Real that had 2 chances). In the last minutes Sociedad was trying to find Skubo's head and even that the Dane was quite strong in the air, this tactic wasn't efficient...
Blame the keeper, Bravo for recieving two funny goals... yes he was bad during the whole game but he was Sociedad's best player in many games.
Terrible mistake by Casillas in Sociedad's goal... He could have sent the ball over his posts and this is what he was whispering in tvs replay "fuera, fuera"... regreting for his action.
p.s. Shall see Betis, Barca and Atletico the upcoming days, so no comments about these games.
Guys, you are making Spanish thread one of the best around... Great work by mantis, litost, mprafter and others aswell. I'm speechless, keep it up guys...
