View Full Version : Having a break after losing constantly
I will give meself a week of rest from betting maybe a little more. As mentioned in a previous topic i also can not win in football betting. i win in tennis, snooker, nba, nhl and but lose in football. I can not stop betting on footy games although i know i can not predict and i know that i will lose no matter how. that is another point though...
so i give a break and let my mind slip away from the obssession of finding the winner. I think it is all about finding the loser. That means sure profit i guess. I noticed that when i was not obssessed with winning i won.
i made up my mind for 10 days of break in the end :)
I wonder what some would say about it?
cya and good luck

It's like you have been reading my mind mate!
I myself have been in a terrible run of losing but the worst thing is that my money management has been very bad. Now I think I will take it slower again like the early days. Also a break is very much needed!!!
And same thing with football. That is my strength and lately I cannot get a game correct.
The thing is to take it easy. After all I am doing 100% for fun and 0% for profit (concerning the amounts involved). I just don't want to see a 0 in my account. Apart from that I am fine!
And you are not a pathetic loser. You are just on a pathetic streak!!!
...you win in NHL and NBA????IMO these are far more diffficult sports than football! There may be only 2 outcomes instead of 3 but its like casino...almost pure luck...anything can happen...1 good player alone, in NBA ,may destroy the best team, while in NHL everything is possible!!!

Actually, betting in NHL is very profitable if you do it right, and don't go around betting on every single match.

It can be very profitable but it also needs a huge discipline and patience from the bettor. Never bet on the favourites only in NHL! Valuebetting is the correct strategy for NHL in my opinion...
I doubt there's a bettor who can say that he's done the biggest profit from NHL at BA

Yes, NHL is quite hard and unpredictable, the indicators for the games are often cancelling each other out, and are contradicting your thoughts.Unlike NBA, where some things are clearer. NHL betting has no rules or a direct guideline to glory.
I can just say you have to be into it a lot(team info, trends, players, hockey tactics...), and then, and ONLY THEN, you can win.
Let's see it on my example::>
Satyr(NHLPunter)
------------------------------------
November 2003 (35) (19) 260 units 185 units 71,15 %
------------------------------------
The season has just started, and I tried to pull some conclusions from the first 10-15 games. Mission impossible, no indicators have been correct, and I lost big.
35 bets, 19 won, not a bad number, but money management(staking) and crucial bets(high stakes) often incorrect.
-----------------------------------
December 2003 (33) (25) 194 units 264 units 136,08 %
-----------------------------------
A dream month for every punter, probably the best month for me in NBA and NHL both. A great way to finish the year.
With all teams being motivated, less injuries than January or February, I nailed it with only 8 bets lost (33 bets, 25 won)
Still, it would be very very hard to repeat such a month.
----------------------------------------
January 2003 (41) (19) 244 units 258 units 105,74 %
----------------------------------------
Notice the difference between this month (19 won, 41 bets placed), and November(huge loss, 35 bets, 19 won).
Money management has surely improved, a lot of good value bets taken, and managed some profit.
A good guideline for NHL betting, I would be satisfied to finish all months similar to this...smaller but good profit(only thing to improve : Take less bets per month!)
I have 6-3 in February, which is not bad, but I m still running short of units. I hope to cancell the loss out before the end of the month.
Still, no euphoric bets should be made to achieve that.
Conclusion: >NHL betting is very hard, and you can more easily end in a downtrend, than engage an uptrend. Fantastic months are more rare than awful ones.
Still, the key is to keep your head, and stake properly.
Good luck to all of us.... :D
Dickcat, you are doing a right thing! it is always good to skip a day, a week or even a month, you will start anew with clear mind and success should be back soon!
In the meantime, take rest, go to the nature, forget about bills, problems, think about good things, stay with girl, friends, parents!
It will all fill your acumulator and you will feel confident and with no doubt in your mind, that you can make it!
Good luck!
You're certainly doing the right thing - I'm on a smei-break since three weeks back after my January blew away a total of 20% of my bankroll.
Take a break, relax, gather your thoughts and stop bet alot on sports you're unsuccessful in.
And then before you know it you'll be back in no-time on a winning streak
Having a break is absolutely a wise move. It worked for me last autumn when I was losing on a regular basis (in other words, I was becoming a pathetic looser). Quitting for a few weeks helped, I realised some mistakes I had made, I didn't see those things 'cause I was watching too close. But after a break I'm like a new man! (Unfortunately not any better  )
Taking a break is a VERY smart thing to dod when u start to lose contuniusly....
Sometimes u cant see a wood from the trees.
thank you all for the support even though some spotted my pathetic condition :P
i am also impressed to see very wise observations and kinda chinese proverbish sayings by oopee and Lamar. nice sayings
to say sth about nhl and nba, maybe i win because of my disability to find the winner. and since nhl is very unpredictable, and the least expected happen i choose the right one. ;) i am good at predicting the unpredictable. i believe this because some of my punting friends did not believe me when i picked the first away win of portland, i think it was against new jersey...
pretty chaotic but its true.
in football i might get all my picks wrong but in nhl i get nearly 50 percent correct picks and that keeps me going to subzeros. and if am lucky i make decent profit. that is all i can say about it...
