Going a bit risky with the 2nd one ...
Pick 2 (February)
Boavista Porto - Alverca
Portugal Superliga
Recent meetings:
2002-02-01 Boavista 2-0 Alverca
2000-12-03 Boavista 5-1 Alverca
2000-01-09 Boavista 2-0 Alverca
1999-01-23 Boavista 3-0 Alverca
 Looks like Boavista have no problems with this opponent at home
Current form:
 Boavista started the year with 8pts taken in 5 matches (2-2-1). Far for impressive, however. But except the 2 wins at home, the other matches were: loss 2-3 away to Benfica and draws far from home with V.Guimaraes and Maritimo. Not so disgraceful results
 Alverca took 2pts in first 5 matches (0-2-3). Except the away point stole in Maritimo, the other results say enough for the strenght of Alverca
This match:
If win here Boavista will move on 5th place (giving place in UEFA). The game is no so important for Alverca and I'm sure it doesn't figure in their plans as "must take points".
This season Boavista drew 1-1 away to Alverca. I think Boavista will not let 2 times in 1 season not winning against Alverca.
The think that imressed me is that Boavista is 0-8-2 at home on HT. Alverca looks appropriate opponent for their first win on HT. Still more Alverca is 1-0-3 on HT last 4.
So I'm thinking about trying Boavista to win HT/FT.
Take: Boavista HT/FT win/win @ 2.50 with Centrebet (not searched for better prices, but this is enough for the competition)
******************
What happened:
The match ended with lucky win 2:1 for Boavista. But on HT the result was 0:1, so my pick lost.
My cupidity will kill me some day. I hope with next picks will control myself. When its not about real money, I'm going too risky sometimes.

That will be my 4th pick for the month.
Intentionally I didn't participate in the weekend because I thought that it would be a very bad one. But one of the reasons that I waited was for today's excellent offer!!It will be from Finnish Mestis:
FPS - KalPa pick KalPa @ 1.85 @ Nordicbet PICK LOST (FT 2-2)
I am not exaggerating when I am saying that I have been waiting for this pick since Friday....
Here we have FPS with 35 points being the team that is probably getting the last play-off place against the second team in the league with 49 points. Goal differrence for FPS is -3 while for KalPa is +61 (the best in the league). Goals scored for FPS 102, for KalPa 136 while they have the best defence in the league having conceded 75 goals.
Those teams have met three times already this year. Results are:
FPS - KalPa 1-4
KalPa - FPS 3-2
KalPa - FPS 6-1
KalPa had recently some bad results and I am expecting them to be fresh from the brake and attack a lot. They are 2 point short of league leaders Jukurit and they want to take advantage of a possible upset in Jukurit's game. On the other hand Hermes is following with 46 points and they definetely don't want to drop to 3rd place.
For FPS they have shown that they can create some upsets to big names but that is happening only away. On home ground they haven't shown as much as away.
I have taken this bet in real life with high stakes. Prices in other bookies are already slashed between 1.60 and 1.75. Nordicbet's offer represents value.
Good luck to all.

Ok my 3rd pick (2/0 so far +152 pts) and I'm switching to tennis,
Vina del Mar tournament
N.Lapentti to beat J.Acasuso 1.78 Pinnacle Sports
The first clay court tournament of the season and two clay court specialists. There is little to choose between them and being the first tournament on this surface, predictions can be risky.
However Lapentti has shown slightly better 2004 form and holds a 2-0 lead in h2h's (Both on hard surface).
He also got to the final of this tournament in 2002 and is ranked 80 places higher than his opponent.
I think he should have enough to beat Acasuso who lacks tournament practice and the odds offered by Pinnacle are substantially better than elsewhere (Average 1.62 BetBrain).LOST 7-6 6-4. I'll stick to football I think
This is my 5th pick already...
Energie Cottbus-Union Berlin Under 2.5 @ 2,25 (Unibet)Pick lost FT 2-1
This sort of a derby match and what we know about them...usually derbies are pretty low scoring matches. I expect this to be like that. In Autumn teams played at Berlin and Cottbus took a narrow 1-0 win there. They are a clear favourites here also and the game story looks pretty obvoius to me. Hosts will attack and vistors go for a draw and possibly clean sheet.
Cottbus are scoreless in last 2 games which both were at way but this time I think they will score at least 1 and at the best scoreline would be 1-0 again.
Berliners are the worst team in 2.Bundesliga at the moment. They have brought in a new striker to bolster their offensive playing which have been very bad.And it always takes a while to settle in for a new guy so I don't expect too much from him.
Risky pick but I'm still very disappointed with HSV and their bad habit of going 0-1 down ALWAYS  maybe they are just too ambitious and want something to play for because 1-0 win is too easy for them...suckers
EDIT: I changed the odds...thanks Proud
SA Spurs v HOU Rockets -1/+1, take Spurs, 2@ Pinnacle 85:82, WON
NBA is all about match-ups. I know it's not much of a palpable argument, but trust a experienced NBA follower, the Spurs have Rockets' number. Both teams win thanks to their suffocating defenses, in fact, numbers show that Houston have the best defense in the League, but numbers sometimes conceal the real truth - the Spurs are elite in this department. It's their team defense that makes the difference and should more so against one of the slower offenses, like Houston's.
The Spurs are superior in the paint, where Tim Duncan simply has no peers ever since O'Neal lost his luster. Yao Ming is one of the more overrated players in the league, and it's all about expanding the NBA market to 1.5 billion China empire. He is soft and usually has hard time against both strong and skilled Duncan. The Rockets started playing better since Francis was suspended, but their is still an obvious rift between the coach (Van Gandy) and his star player. Van Gundy insists on pushing the ball to the paint, while Francis is a fan of a more up-tempo game (read selfish). He should get frustrated when Ming blows several plays in a row, and then I expect the Rockets to fall apart.
SA are 16-11 ATS on the road, 6-1 ATS on two days rest, while the Rockets are 11-12 ATS at home, 10-15 when playing on one days' rest.
I expect a narrow, but certain Spurs win (75-80% sure).

Hi,
today I have another tennis pick for you...
Ruben Ramirez-Hidalgo - Thomas Behrend
PICK WON - Ramirez-Hidalgo won 61 36 63
Both players are claycourters but right now BEHREND is in very bad form. He is 0-4 this year, he lost to KUNITCIN 46 36, RAMIREZ-HIDALGO 46 64 36 :!: , then at AO to MELZER 16 16 26 and to REYNOLDS 63 67 36. All matches were played at hard, but this are very bad results, arenŽt they?? Yes, BEHREND played some very good matches on clay last year - especially his performance in STUTTGART was excellent, but IMO heŽs very far away from his best form...
In the other hand RAMIREZ-HIDALGO has some quite good results this year (he beat BEHREND, ENQVIST and BLANCO on hard) and his last years clay-season was very impressive...
PICK: Ramirez-Hidalgo
ODDS: 1.53
BOOKIE: Pinnacle
My new February stats: +251 (3/3)

Picks of the day 9.2.:
Denver Nuggets - Memphis Grizzlies (+4.5) 2 odds 1.93 Pinnacle Sports
The Grizzlies have won their last 4 games, & are a mighty fine 8-3-1 when playing in the second of back-to-back games. Memphis has also gone 5-0-1 ATS their last 6 on the road.Memphis, which has won four straight and 12 of its last 15, is in seventh place in the Western Conference.
The Nuggets are returning home after dropping consecutive road games to Golden State and Sacramento. The Nuggets had won three straight prior to this two-game skid.
Overall record in February: 2/2 (+200)
Lucien
I have found a mistake in my prediction above.
Correctly is Memphis Grizzlies (+4.5).

Energie Cottbus-Union Berlin Under 2.5 @ 2,05 (Expekt)
I was planning to take that aswell. Want to inform you thats Unibet has 2,25.
Boavista-Alverca
Boavista need three point from this game if they want to count on uefa spot. But their main problem is that they really got some problems to score. At home they scored only 7 goals. They play tonight with best away team between teams who are canditates for relegation.Odds for home win are pretty low but Pinnacle offer really nice odds for under golas.
Boavista-Alverca Under 2.5 goals 1.96@Pinnacle Sports
