View Full Version : Bandy - world cup in Sweden
SWEDEN v KAZAKHSTAN - Handicap Line -4.5 SWEDEN 1.70 Centrebet
I have never trusted bankers. There is no such think in sports. Very probable winners there are but thatīs it. So a banker with proper odds is much more difficult to find. If such think would exist then that would be it. In this match odds for straight win are about 1.01-1.02 depending of the bookie. That is not enough althoug Sweden is reasonable favourite. Compared to ice-hockey bandy is much more a marginal sport. Not near-by so many players in the world. That makes the skill level between different national teams vary enormously. Not so many international matches during season. So also bookies are in trouble when estimating the probabilities of the games. First game to Sweden in their home games. Straight win is of course enough to get ful points but mentally itīs important to start the cup with full speed. Over 10 goal victory is not out of question tomorrow. 65% estimation that Sweden wins at least with 5 goals. 10/10 bet to me. Meaning I have 3% of my gaming fund in this. Because bankers donīt exist. You have been warned so remember: whatever happens donīt shoot the messenger.
Finally Sweden won 14:2 !!! 8O 8O 8O
Sadly i took it in combo with JYP :(
Today there is Russia - Kasachstan maybe interesting....but maybe the HC of -5,5 is bit too high?!? Or is it as it should be?!? Russia only 6:3 yesterday against Norway...
Any Bandy Experts here? Please help !
Today (2.2) two games: Sweden - Finland and Russia - Kasachstan. Personally didnīt find tempting bets for these. Russia is very clear favourite but odds for straight win are about 1.02 which is insane. Surprises happen but in this case Iīm afraid it takes a long time before Kasachstan has itīs turn. If Russia wants to win over 5 goals it makes it. But after one win already their motivation to win big is a question mark. No bet.
And Sweden is clear favourite all right. Of course Finland is no Kasachstan and finns always make their best to beat suedes. But games are in Sweden so the audience support is strongly on swedish side (over 3000 spectators). Much tougher game to them anyway. But not even handicap -3.5 with odds 1.85 is tempting. If I made fun bets then draw with at least 11.00 would be worth trying. But... no bets today.
Norway - Finland -3.5 1.75 Unibet
Yesterday Sweden crushed Finland 7-1. This time numbers lie. Sweden made goals with great succeed %. Finnish players played well yesterday. They were as fast, they kept the ball as much and they created places to score at least as much as their opponents. In first half couple of great long passes from Sweden and easy goals. Mistakes from Finland that certainly are discussed before todayīs match. Goals to Sweden were 7-1 but corners to Finland 9-4. From which Sweden scored twise and Finland only once. Norway was not bad two days ago against Russia when they lost 6-3. But now they meet very angry finnish players. Humiliation yesterday after playing well is too much. And from all possible opponents it had to be Sweden  . Time to show the finnish team can play much better. About 60% chance that Finland wins over 3 goals. My personal opinon of course. Fair warning anyway: Iīm wearing blue-white glasses (colours of the flag of Finland) so it just might be possible Iīm not judging this game neutral. Thatīs why only 3/10 bet today. The other game today is Sweden against Russia. Two biggest favourites to win the cup. Too unpredictable game for me and odds seem to be in favor of the bookies. No game for that.
Sergei, I was going for the opposite bet (Norway +3.5) before I read your prediction, simply because the results favoured Norway:
Russia - Noway 6-3
Sweden - Finland 7-1
But I didn't watch the game yesterday (Swe-Fin), so I don't know if the result was misleading. You say that Finland played better than the result show and I will have to trust you. So I'm staying away from this game and wish you good luck!
Nice pick on Sunday! 8O
Hi!
Yesterday I went to the bandy game for the first time in my life. I `m staying at Uppsala now and I realized that the Bandy Championships is held there. Furtunately I found time to get to the Sweden-Finland game! :D
I would like to share with my thoughts about that although I admit to be a complete amatour when it comes to bandy. I hope it will be usefull for you anyhow. Btw. I watched it from the position of football fan rather.
My view:
It was a tough game for Sweden. However the score 7:1 doesn`t show it.
Like Sergei wrote Finnland looked pretty good and caused much trouble to Swedes at the begining. They attacked pretty often but the Swedish goalie was superb. The score at the begining was 2:1. Then Swedes took advantage of couple of mistakes made by Finns in defence and HT was 5:1. Finns attacked more in 2nd half but the deadly couterstrikes finished them off.
I think that Finns deserved better score in that game. That`s my opinion.
When I talked with Swedish friend afterwards he was quite suprised with the score line because Sweden never had easy way with Finns  .
So, I don`t know about the level of Norway team but I guess Finns will be eager to play well (for bronze medal I guess)

I`ve decided to take Sweden at Unibet @1.85
They played wise game yesterday. Scored easily and had great goalkeeper. I know this is going to be a close game (probably 1 or 2 goals difference , maybe draw? )
Sweden won all 3 games in 2003 , 2 of them in Russia, all by 1 goal difference (!).
Fonbet offers Sweden at @1.85 with -1,5 handi! So 1.85 even looks more than good :)
When it comes to totals bet... Hm , the line is usually 8.5
Last two meetings were over but before it 5 earlier ended under 8.5.
Sweden has great goalie, he saved plenty of shots with Finland.
I would take under 8.5 at Nordicbet @1.9 with small stake but I don`t have an account there yet. :(
Good luck

Score24.com (http://www.score24.com/live_1.jsp) also offer livescore for this tournament.
Hey!
Sweden is 2-1 :) now but that`s not my purpose.
Is anybody from the forum going to watch the games live? I`ve been yesterday to Sweden-Finland in Uppsala and I fancy going to Sweden-Norway on Friday also in Uppsala.

So far it has been very predictable world cup.
I have a question for certain fans of the sport and especially Norwegians.(Terje help!!).
This afternoon Kazakhstan is playing against Norway. Those two teams are on the bottom of the table but I think that Norway has shown very good potential. Especially their defence seems to be working well and I want to believe that they will manage to win against very poor Kazakhstan.
I have found a very good offer to take Norway (-1) at 2.05.
What do you people think. I am thinking on going to medium-high stakes.
Sorry to say it but when I hear that Kazakhstan is playing bandy I can picture Borat (Ali G's character) in skates saying 'Bandy is goooooood'. Hope that the Kazakhs won't take their revenge for what I said.....

Odds for Norway for straight victory form 1.60 to 1.65 in Nordicbet. V. Suspicious......Any ideas guys?
KAZAKHSTAN - NORWAY 2.00 Unibet
Norway is playing very well in this cup. Yesterday after being 1-3 behind Finland they made two special event-goals. Finland succeeded to win 5-3 that match but they had to do hard work for that. Finnish coach Tammilehto said that the game was best from Norway against Finland in five years. Maybe all teams are doing their best results against Finland this year?
Kazakhstan has lost to Sweden 14-2 and to Russia 10-3. Norway lost only 6-3 to Russia. Looking at these goals todays match seems to be piece of cake. But thatīs the most important game to Kazakhtan in this cup. Four teams are going to semifinals and the fourth place is possible to take today. Because of big loses a draw is no enough and they have to beat Norway and attack. On the other hand Norway cannīt afford to lose today. They donīt have attitude problems. Estimation to Norway at least 55% dispite of that today is the survival game of Kazakhstan. 6/10 bet today.

About 6 million finns in the world. All the others should also speak or at least understand finnish. If someone happens to live in deepest jungle then a little translation:
finnish - english:
Ruotsi = Sweden
Venäjä = Russia
Suomi = Finland
Norja = Norway
Kazakstan = Kazakhtan
Iīm positive that was easy to conclude but just in case.
Russia - Finland 8.95 Nordicbet
Russia is a potential candidate to win whole championchip. They lost Sweden but only with one goal yesterday. On the other hand Finland - Sweden ended 1-7. And during years Russia has been better a long time. Russia is big favourite. But nothing in sports is for sure. And giving Finland 8.95 is too much and represent value. Estimation 16-18% to Finland. Unlikely result but possible. Both teams can count they are goint to play in semifinals. Most likely they will meat each other there. Unless Kazakhstan beats Finland later and Finland loses Russia today. Not nececcarily a must to show all you can today. The most important games are ahead. No medals on play today and maybe russian players feel a little bit relaxed. 2/10 bet in this one.
Russia - Finland 0-2
0-1 A. Holopainen (11)
0-2 V. Vuokila (13)
Great start! :)
Russia - Finland 3-4 FT.

Congratulations, Sergei! :D
Thanks Tahoma. Have to admit I had my doubts about the game. But very nice feeling to come home after night shift and see the final result :D. Last goal in 89. minute was too good to be true. Not even finnish coach remembered when Finland last time bet Russia. His quess was 1991. Lucky shot yesterday but luck is part of sports and betting.

And after what happened with Norway yesterday.....

Bandy is niiiiceee!!!!
Finland - Kazakhstan
Sweden - Norway
Finland - Kazakhstan
Motivation in this match is strongly with Kazakhtan. Their only chance to even dream to be in semifinals is to get at least one point from Finland. Finnish players might have light attutude problem after yesterdayīs win from Russia. If situation in 85 minutes is draw they can handle it calmly. The important game is on Saturday when semifinals begin. Hard to know how seriously Finland plays today. But odds I have seen to Kazakhstan are too low. Donīt know about Unibet because seems to be impossible to reach their pages today. If they offer about 6.5 to Kazakhstan then it could be worth to try.
Sweden - Norway
Match played 3 hours later than the former one. So the result of Finland - Kazakhstan is known before the game starts. In case Kazakhstan has lost then Norway can breath freely. They play in semifinals if they wonīt lose with gigantic score. But if Kazakhstan has got even one point then Norway is in trouble. Swedes donīt exactly love norwegians so points are hard to get. And Sweden has been so convincing in this cup that betting against them today looks like a suicide. And odds for Sweden are far too low to bet.
No bets today.
I totally agree with you about the games, Sergei.
But I still think there is one good bet today:
Finland - Kazakhstan under 8.5 goals @ 1.85 (NordicBet).
Both teams have scored nine goals each in the first three games. Finland's defense looks pretty strong and none of the games have edned up with more than 8 goals.
Kazakhstan have conceded many goals against Sweden and Russia, but now they're facing a much weaker team. Games between two weak teams often finish with few goals.
I expect 6-9 goals in this game, so I have taken the under-bet with a small stake.
Sweden - Finland 7-1
Finland - Norway 5-3
Russia - Finalnd 3-4
Sweden - Kazakhstan 14-2
Kazakhstan - Russia 3-10
Kazakhstan - Norway 4-4
Semifinals today
Sweden - Kazakstan
line 6: 1 1.95 X 5.00 2 2.05 Nordicbet

Thatīs the way it is. No reason to pay attension too much to the matches two days ago then sweden drew Norway 6-6 and Kazakhstan bet Finland 7-3. In these games motivation was only with the other team. Todayīs winner is going to play for gold medals. I donīt know if there is another sports where odds for favourite to win semifinal in world cup are about 1.02-1.01. Six days ago these teams opened the cup and Sweden won 14-2. Not so big victory expected today but maybe over six goals. If Sweden wants to do it it will. Do they want is not so sure. I hope the home audience forces them to make their best. But because even one goal victory is enough only 3/10 bet today. Nordicbetīs line is 6 goals but they have the X opportunity. That means Sweden has to win over six goals. Otherwise bet is lost. Price 1.95 is anyway reasonable compared for example to Centrebetīs 1.75 with line 6.5 or Unibetīs 1.83.
Gratz Sergiei!
Sweden won 10-3. Finland also won with Russia! What a suprise! Brave Finns will have a chance to upset Swedes. However, I think that silver is enough for Finland and they won`t try hard to win the final. Am I right?
I saw the first game (7-1) and it was too easy victory for Sweden. I think that final game will be a close one. I haven`t seen odds yet.
Any opinions? Suggetsions?

Finland will of course try hard to win the final, but the difference between the teams is very big. Finland have surprised many in this tournament and I don't think Sweden will win that easy. I expect odds between 1.10 and 1.30 on Sweden and I hope for a good handicap-line on Finland.
Thanks Scottie. Sweden had an easy warm-up before the final on Sunday. Finland was great. I didīt believe they can do it. They have never bet Russia two times in a row. Second win during 13 years and it happened less than one week. Iīm impressed.

A joke, right? My stomach hurts. I have been laughing about half an hour. Iīm sure our swedish friends understand. I will explain some time later. Now I have to leave but being back after the odds are available.
I know what you mean Sergei. I know that there are some animosities between Swedes and Finnes.
I stay in Sweden now and I `ve been already told about it by a Finnish girl (who is as a matter a fact half Swedish because of her mom :) )
I meant that the difference betwen those sqauds is substantial and no matter how hard will Finns try they will loose. A question is only the spread. Right?
Of course it will a tight game. I `ve noticed that Swedes scored so easily (out of nowhere  ) in previous meeting whereas Finland was in the attack most of time - more corners etc.
Anyway I`m not an expert. I saw only one bandy game
That is an outsider`s view.
By the way, there is also another Sweden-Finnland encounter tomorrow. Hockey game in Globen , Stockholm. I was to see it but they`ve run out of tickets so I will see Russia-Czech Rep. instead :?
Good luck to your bets for finals. I think I `ll skip it. Maybe a small stake for Finland with handi ( if around +5)

Two hours before the pronze medal game starts and only Expekt has odds available. And only 1x2-opportunity without handicap. Not so good work from the bookies. I have emailed Centrebet, Unibet and Nordicbet about this but so far no answers. But some thougts in the meanwhile without betting yet.
Russia - Kazakstan
Superior favourite meets Kazakstan which was in advance the weakest team in the cup. Odds for Russia is 1.02. Which means that if Russia wins 98 matches out of 100 and you bet them all you just get your own money back. Surprises happen but Expekt knows that usually bettors want to back "the winner" no matter if the odds is too low. Yesterday Russia had a tough game physically but also mentally against Finland. After very hard work they scored in 81 and 85 minutes and situation was 3-3. But two minutes later Ari Holopainen scored his 4. goal and that was enough to win the game. It must have been tough to the gold medal candidate. The question is can they recover to pronze game and are they motivated enough to take it. If Russia plays normally it wins easily but not even then 98/100. And that makes it tempting to back Kazakhstan. Always better compare prices of the bookmakers. So now just have to patient and wait if there will be competitive odds.
Russia - Kazakhstan 15.00 Expekt (1/10)
Sweden - Finland 7.50 Expekt (2/10)
Double
Kazakhstan + Finland 112.50 (0.5/10)
No odds available in Centrebet yet but these will do. Bets today with small stakes. Almost certainly lost ones but as they say in those lawyer films: it is possible and there is reasonable doubt. Above was written about Russia - Kazakhstan. I believe Kazakhstan can win 8 games out of 100 in this situation. Therefore odds 15.00 is acceptable.
Sweden - Finland
Sweden didnīt have to give their best yesterday when they won Kazakhstan. Finland was forced to fight until last minute agains Russia. Swedes have had three hours more time to rest before the final starts. They have the best team in the world. Odds for Sweden vary from 1.15 to 1.30. Which also shows who is favourite here. I believe 70% favourite. So no value with Sweden. And thatīs why I back on Finland. Finns are tired today. But they are always ready to fight against Sweden. Itīs a wonderful dream to beat Sweden in world cup final in front of their home audience. Strange thinks happen. Couple of mistakes or blind referee or just lucky day. Finland has never won gold medals in bandy. 6 silvers we have and the last one game 1999. Today itīs spirits agains physich.
Honestly I donīt expect much for these bets. That happens quite often. But I belive that when you try often enough these kind of bets pay it back. Perhaps already after 50 years.
Sweden - Finland ot. 4-5, 4-4 (1-1)

YES! Am I happy? Lost bets today cause that was over time but no matter. Spirit over physichs today. Never again in bandy will be the same feeling. The historical first goldmedal to Finland. Donīt know how they did it but they did. Seen that happen too often in icehockey. Year ago that disaster happened to Finland in semifinals against Sweden. In Finland of course. So forgive me all swedish friends. Probably last time this year that kind of feeling. Some beers and friends waiting me at the local. So thatīs it about bandy this year. But certainly meet again at least when formula one starts.
Damn! 8O
Congratulations, Finland! :D
I didn't watch the game, but will hopefully see some highlights later. I think this was very positive for the sport.
No, I can't imagine how the Finnish people are feeling now, but I guess they're veeeeery happy!
Once again, congratulations!
Yeah!
Gratulations to Finns!
What a suprise! I sam a final score in Swedish TV and was totally suprised. I didn`t put any bets before the final because I had no time. Shame on me because I wanted to take Finns with handi as I wrote above.
Any way, I ll wait till next year championships. :)
see ya
