Karim Essediri hasn't got much playing time after Knut Tørum took over this summer, but will play from start in the Royal League premiere on Thursday.

The Tunisian did play well in last winter's friendlies, but unfortunately, in the spring season he couldn't live up to the expectations created by himself. As a result he mostly warmed the bench this season. And, due to participating in the World Cup, he wasn't able to fight well for a place on the team before the autumn set in. In the mean time, a starting 11 were more or less standardized.

This autumn, the place on the bench has resulted in weak performances in the training sessions, and Essediri has at times appeared little motivated - for the second team as well. During the past few weeks he has however increased his efforts, and the performances on the training field have improved as the temperature has fallen - almost against nature for an African. As a result he will play from the start against Brann.

Knut Tørum promises that the players will sharpen up after the weak 1-1 game on Sunday.

"We played on a lower gear than usual. Some things were good, but in all, we lacked the ignition and spirit that is needed to be best. We had to run after the ball as Fredrikstad got breakdowns, and it turned out to be a defensive game for us, not the normal attacking gameplay. But if we weren't sharp enough in Fredrikstad, we count in being back on Thursday. Even now I see changes on the training field. The focus is back," Tørum tells.

Tuesday afternoon, a disappointing 1000 tickets were sold to the 'home leg of the league final'. Rosenborg hopes that up to 8000 supporters will attend the match.

"This is a match between the two best teams in Norway, and it's two teams that will do well in Royal League. The players from Bergen should be eager for revenge, and will be intent upon crushing Rosenborg - and if players and supporters aren't fully present and do their best, we'll be wiped," Knut Tørum warns.

From the team that fought Fredrikstad, Vidar Riseth is back on the midfield, and pushes Jan Gunnar Solli out on the bench together with Daniel Braaten. In the central defence, Miika Koppinen rests due to knee problems, and also Bjørn Tore Kvarme will start on the bench. RBK will also have to do without Michael Jamtfall (groin) and Ståle Stensaas (ancle) for the rest of the year.

Norwegian broadcaster TVNorge sends the match, with kickoff at 19.30.

Players all over Scandinavia have said that they lack motivation for play in the Royal League. Knut Tørum thinks the participation has the opposite effect.

"After Christmas, we start after merely 5-6 weeks of training, instead of 15-16, and that means a lot. To play matches that count as soon as March 1st motivates the players to finish the basic training in a good and effective way," Knut Tørum tells.

And so, the Rosenborg coach will try to motivate his players to use all of their remaining resources in 2006 in the matches against Brann, Helsingborg and Odense, to ensure participation in the final rounds and new motivation.

"We are definitely eager to play Royal League in March. Now, we get to try ourselves in November and Desember as well, and will be playing football instead of going into hibernation. That is a good thing," Tørum thinks.

At the same time, both the coach and the players want to take FC København down a peg or two. The Danish have gotten a lot of attention after - for the time being - having taken over Rosenborg's role as the Scandinavian flag ship in the Champions League.

"Rosenborg has been the best team in the Nordic countries this autumn, we feel, and now we'll prove it through winning the Royal League. To achieve good results in Europe again, we have to compete. Royal League is much better than normal friendly games," Knut Tørum states.

I think Rosenborg is better Motivated to win this Match.

Rosenenborg are clearly better than Brann atm. Rosenborg have been very good since the summerbreak and after Tørum took over as headcoach. Brann have just been an averange team after the summer break.

Matches after summer break:
RBK: 12-2-1 33;12
Brann: 7-0-8 20;29

I also think RBK is more motivated for RL than Brann. And since Brann also got many absense from first eleven. Espesially Andresen is importen for Brann, Brann with or without Andresen have often been two very diffrent teams.

I belive RBK should win this fairly easy, have a smal Hcap bet on RBK (-1). Over is also very likely. But the condition on Lerkandal may couse problems so be a cousion with bets.

I also belive RBK will win the group, I think they are bothe more motivated and better than the others in the group. RBK is beter than Brann atm, OB have both league matches and UEFA cup matches as higher priority, while Helsingborg seams to have small motivation for the tornument, and will rest players like Henke Larson.
