I open the thread today by popular demand! Post your picks for Sunday here. I think it can be a wonderful day, we'll have big games in German Icehockey, Swiss Icehockey, Czech Hockey etc, we'll have a lot of Eurobasket, FA-Cup.....and Skijumping, Slalom and Super-G from Wintersports!

Earlier in the season Bath won by 44 points in the home fixture (47-3) and I see no reason for this game to be any different. The sides are at different ends of the table, Bath top (12-0-1, 317-169), Rotherham bottom (0-0-13, 158-439) and with the following news from the Zurich Premiership site about injuries for Rotherham, then I expect Bath to win this game convincingly.
Injury and illness continues to hamper Rotherham Director of Rugby Steph Nel's team selection as Rawson (neck), Wood (illness), Elliott (glandular fever), Strange (illness), and Ewens (broken toe) all miss out on a place in the squad to face table-toppers Bath at Millmoor on Sunday.

Frankly speaking, I do not know what is going on here. The level handicap is too good to be true. Beira Mar has been fairly outstanding this season and really do deserve to be in the 4th place. Defeated only 4 times this season, against the likes of Porto, Lisbon, Maritimo and Baovista. Other than the last team, the rest are really decent(or more than decent). Beira Mar has been managing to crunch out results where it matters, scoring vital goals that counts and that is indeed the main reason why they are 4th. They were briefly 2nd even, until Lisbon and Benfica piled on the pressure recently, coupled with Beira Mar's slip at Porto, it finally cost them. But other than the Porto loss, they have actually gone on to win 5 of the other 6 matches. Very impressive I must add.
Moreirense has been tipped to once again have a mediocre season. And so far, it has lived up to pre-season predictions. A very ordinary home record standing at 2/3/2 with wins against newly promoted Rio Ave and surprisingly Lisbon. One sad fact though, is that they have not won for their last 10 matches after defeating Lisbon. Such are the non-winning habits of Moreirense, I would just have to lean towards a very much on-song Beira Mar to carry on their impressive showing and take at least a point away from this clash. Given the form and strikerate of both teams, it should not pose too much of a problem.
H2H splits the teams right down the center with 1 away win apiece for their last 2 meetings.

REASONS
Well these odds represent great value if you ask me!!!Xanthi is not good at all and despite the fact that history is against PAO in this game I will trust my money on the team I dislike most. The players know very well that they are not allowed in any case to drop more points because for the Greek standards 7 points difference between the 1st and the second team is chaotic especially when we are talking about Olympiakos being first! Pao has a difficult program ahead with difficult away games and should not fail to take 3 points in such games. The 1st stiker(in terms of goals) in Greek history ,Krzysztof Warzycha,wanted to quit football this Christmas but he wished to leave the fields with a title. The president of Pao kept him till summer so as for the team to make him this present! The morale in the team seams very good and they are confident that they can be first in May. I doubt it... but tomorrow it will be a 1 man show for the team in green…9/10 confidence for me…
P.s:It will be under 2.5 too!

Sociedad is definetely the big surprise of the season...last year they were fighting for the title and this year they are fighting hard to avoid relegation.They seemed to have a very predictable style of playing,they are already tired since this year they had the Champion's League without rotating the first eleven since there are the same 13-14 players used in all matches.Malaga on the other hand performs much better than expected,they have lost only once at home,having 5 wins and one draw in their 6 last matches at the Andalusian city.Last time the Basques won was in 26th of October and at Malaga they traveled without Chavi Alonso,Aranzabal,Westerweld and Kovasevic...in other words all the key players(only Nihat will be available).Malaga can come closer to Uefa's spots with a win here

Since their 4-0 loss to Man U, they have produced 4 wins and 1 draw (against some mediocre opposition), with their most impressive wins coming in the Carling Cup against Chelsea (2-1) and in their last EPL match against Fulham (3-0). Manchester Utd have been getting the wins with 5 in a row but their performances have been far from impressive. With Ferguson almost certain to give the fringe players a go, I think that high-flying Villa have a good chance for atleast a draw. Delaney is out for Villa while O'shea will not be risked for Utd.

Heres my support for your pick:
Barca is too low in standings for their actual strenght. They play away better than home (i dunno why :roll: ). Only Kluivert and Overmars :wink: missing for Barca so they could play in full strenght.
Racing plays away better than home too, they collect only 7 points at home (8 2 1 5 7:13 7 ). Last meeting 23.03.2003 ended 6:1 for Barca.
So....9th place for Barca is disgrace and they should start winning streak and im expecting that first candidate for it is Racing Santander.

Racing Santander has managed to remain undefeated in their last 2 fixtures before the break with two draw results against Osasuna

They have slipped from the top half of the table to 13th and they will be desperate for points in order to keep away from getting involved with relegation battles. Racing Santander's forwards are in a bad form as they failed to score in their last matches.

Surprisingly, the Catalans has performed better playing away this season with 4 wins, 2 draws and 2 losses as compared to their home form of 2 wins, 4 draws and 3 losses.
Even if they are considered of being in a bad situtation, i don't see it like that. I have seen some mathces of Bracelona, and believe me, if they get a good day they can beat any team on this planet. Last games prooved that Barcelona is a top team in Spain, and the place they are on is far away from the one they deserve. This year they will fight for the 4th spot, and IMO they'll get it, but they have to win matches like this one, against Racing.

Not much to say, really. Valencia is the stronger of these two teams, and a force to be reckon with at Mestalla. Villareal showed really good form before the christmas break, but I still think that Valencia is at least one class too good for them. The pressure is on for Valencia, there are no room for slip ups in games like this, when Real Madrid is winning game after game and are going like a train at the moment. A motivated strong home team at 1.55, that's good enough for me and this is my pick of the day.

Boavista are 5 and Leiria 7 matches without a draw so it's about time to play a statistical draw. Boavista 5 games without a draw is quite a surprise because they usually play low scoring games and last season was ruined because of too many draws. This season they have already played 5 draws in 15 matches.

after first succesful pick id like to risk a bit at higher odds, and though i consider arsenal 2 the safest for today i take the following:

I regard Barca to be one of the best teams in Primera talentwise, so at these odds it is a very good pick away to a not so good side as Racing, Kluivert is suspended, which gives Saviola that extra chance to prove to Rijkard that he is very good. Barca has a very wide squad to replace all its suspended and injured players.. Same cant be said about Racing, which will miss a couple of important players. Risky bet but worth at these odds.

Washington Wizard vs Milwaukee Bucks: Home win @ 2.19 Expekt
The Wizards are back since they blew out the warriors on friday. Their record isnt very good but since friday I see good potential in the Wizards to beat the Bucks at home.

The I've started I'm probably gonna set a negative record, but...they say that hope dies last so I'll keep on trying! Well my pick for today is:

The reason why I'm picking this one is first of all the price. I think that 2,2 should mean that the Bucks are far better than the Wizards, but I don't think so! The Bucks are 5-12 on the road and they have lost 6 of their last 7 games away. It's true that their last game was a big win against Dallas 109-101 (two players set season high in scoring), but overall I don't think that they are that much of a better team than WAS. The last meeting between teams was won by WAS over OT 114-109. So they are quite equal, but the Wizards were then still playing without there best player at the moment Gilbert Arenas (18,9 PPG and 5,2 APG in 16 games). Wizards first game of the year was a so much needed win against Golden State 97-79, and I sure hope they'll carry the momentum into tonight's game and get a 10th win of the season! Well all in all I think it's a great offer by the bookies cause the price at 2,2 is quite high and it's worth taking! I'll try it and we'll see! So I decided to do an interesting bet, bet365 are offering on their props tonight: Sacramento under 109,5!
It took my interest at once and as I checked statistics, it looked even better! Kings managed to score more than 109 points on only 3 occasions in last 15 games! And Seattle recieved more than 109 only twice in last 16 games! So, statisticly, it looks OK!
Now, to the game.
Kings managed to score just over 55% against Clippers and they scored 116 points there, but I am sure, they will have more problems in attack against Sonics, I expect their average to fall just under 50%, which will surely mean at tleast 10 points less!
Ray Allen in superb form (avg 28.3 points after return and Sonics 4-1 in that period) and hes SuperSOnics will stop Sacramento, give them a hard night and prevent them scoring over 109!!

I just have a question for moderators. My pick of the day was over 5 in Montreal - Washington game and the score was 4:1 so total of 5 goals. What does that mean in our competition. My real bet is still open, just my total odd went down for the chosen game? Thanx!
Is my pick valid ? I posted it at 17 pm when the match in Bilbao began . After reding the rules i realised that I made a mistake , cause every pick has to be published a hour before the event . Sorry !!!!

Your pick is voided which means no changes of your score or your number of picks.

The purpose of the competition is to help other people with good picks, not to show your "skills". Since no one had any use of your pick yesterday, I will of course not count it.
