from uefa.com

Old team-mates will be on opposite sides as RCD Espanyol look to halt SV Zulte Waregem's startling UEFA Cup progress in a Group F tie in Barcelona.

• Espanyol won 2-0 at AC Sparta Praha on Matchday 1 but did not play on Matchday 2.

• Zulte Waregem will progress to the knockout rounds with a win in Barcelona having triumphed in their previous Group F games, 4-1 at FK Austria Wien and 3-1 at home against Sparta.

• The two sides have never met in European competition.

• Espanyol midfielder Iván de la Peña and Zulte Waregem left-back Loris Reina were briefly team-mates at Olympique de Marseille. De la Peña scored once in 12 league appearances while on loan at the club in the 1999/00 season while Reina made his only six league appearances for the club in the same campaign.

• Zulte Waregem goalkeeper Geert de Vlieger has also been a team-mate of Espanyol striker Albert Riera when the latter spent part of the 2005/06 season at Manchester City FC. He scored once in 15 league games for the club while De Vlieger never made a Premiership appearance in two seasons with City.

• Espanyol coach Ernesto Valverde played against Belgian opponents during his days as a player with the Barcelona-based side. His side lost 2-0 against Club Brugge KV in the first leg of the 1987/88 UEFA Cup semi-final but turned things around in the second leg, winning 2-0 and scoring again in extra time to win the tie 3-2 on aggregate.

• Espanyol went on to lose the two-legged final on penalties against Bayer 04 Leverkusen after trading 3-0 victories with the German side.

• Aside from those two fixtures against Club Brugge, Espanyol have faced Belgian opponents on two further occasions, losing out 4-2 on aggregate against FC Molenbeek Brussels Strombeek in the first round of the 1973/74 UEFA Cup.

• In total, they have played four times against Belgian opponents winning twice and losing twice. They have never drawn against a Belgian side in Europe.

• At home, they have won one game against Belgian opponents and lost one.

• Since being refounded as SV Zulte Waregem with the merger of Zultse VV and KSV Waregem in 2001, the club have never faced Spanish opposition.

• Waregem twice faced Spanish opponents, overcoming CA Osasuna 3-2 on aggregate in a 1985/86 UEFA Cup second round tie, winning 2-0 at home and losing 2-1 away.

• Sparta play AFC Ajax in Matchday 3's other Group F game.

As i was reading the picks in the main page of BA i found that not only spanish tipsters but also belgian tipsters think that Espanyol could beat in this game by more goals.
Personally, i dont know many things about these teams but if the spanish and the belgians agree on it maybe Espanyol AH -1 is a very good bet.

Espanyol Barcelona - Zulte-Waregem

Espanyol can win the qualification if they defeat the Belgian side today after they already won 2-0 in the away game against Sparta Praha. The Spanish team are undefeated in the last 6 games in the Spanish Primera and they managed to defeat Athletic Bilbao in the last round with a 3-2 score. Zulte is a semi-profesional team and they are not the same strong squad as they were last season.

Zulte-Waregem already won the first two games, 4-1 away against Austria Wien and 3-1 at home against Sparta Praha, so they are already qualified. I will go for a home win in this game, as I consider Espanyol well motivated and also have the advantage of the home ground on their side.

Espanyol Barcelona - Zulte-Waregem 1, with the best odds 1,43 at Bwin.com

I see that Tamudo is given a rest. Pandiani should take his place.

Espanyol: Iraizoz, Sergio Sánchez o Zabaleta, Lacruz, Jarque, Moha, Moisés, Costa, Luis García, Coro, Riera y Pandiani.

Zulte: Merlier, D'Haene, Leleu, Dindeleux, Reina, Vandemarliere, Verschuere, Van Nieuwenhuyze, Sergeant o Meert, Matthys y Roussel.

No doubt Espanyol Barcelona has the best players and should win this, if they want to win and don't underestimate Zulte-Waregem.

Zulte-Waregem now plays with another goalkeeper and this goalkeeper made some mistakes in his first european game against Lokomotiv Moskou. So that's a big blow for ZW.

...

Tamudo is not the problem. De La Pena will be a loss, cause Espanyol recently became solid in defence and flexible in attack, with him playing in a double pivote position (def half).
Valverde will rotate his team as he usualy does in copa games.

Zulte won Austria and Sparta, two teams at least one level below rotated Catalonians.
