UEFA Cup place up for grabs
They say that every cloud has a silver lining but only one of FC Girondins de Bordeaux and Galatasaray SK can salvage something positive from their disappointing Group C campaigns. With their UEFA Champions League hopes quashed, the pair will contest the consolation prize of third place and entry into the UEFA Cup when they meet in France on Matchday 5.
Both teams suffered a third successive defeat on 31 October, leaving them stranded on a single point each at the foot of the group. Galatasaray's superior goal difference means they are in third place.

Galatasaray went down 2-0 at PSV on the same night, Timmy Simons and Arouna Koné the scorers. That result continued a losing streak that also includes a 3-2 reverse at Liverpool on Matchday 2 and a 2-0 home defeat by PSV.
Bordeaux's identical run comprises 1-0 home losses to PSV and Liverpool as well as their aforementioned defeat at Anfield.
Galatasaray have recorded two wins and four defeats in six previous visits to face French opposition. Their most recent trip brought a 1-0 success against FC Nantes Atlantique in the 2001/02 UEFA Champions League first group stage. Sergen Yalçin hit the winning goal after 79 minutes.
The Turkish club also won the UEFA Super Cup at Monaco's Stade Louis II in 2000 with a 2-1 victory against Real Madrid CF.
Loss to Fenerbahçe
Bordeaux's only previous home encounter with Turkish opposition came in the first round of the 1985/86 European Champion Clubs Cup. They were beaten 3-2 by Galatasaray's great rivals Fenerbahçe SK and went on to lose the tie by the same score.
Galatasaray coach Erik Gerets was in the PSV Eindhoven team that overcame Bordeaux in the 1987/88 European Cup quarter-finals en route to winning the trophy. PSV earned a 1-1 draw at the Stade Chaban-Delmas and eventually progressed on away goals after a scoreless draw in the return.
Liverpool and PSV will meet at Anfield in the group's other game on Matchday 5 and should either side take all three points then they will also clinch first place in the section.

It is true that Galatasaray is not the legendary team from 2000 anymore. However, the tradition goes on especially in away games. Galatasaray players are performing much better in European competitions but the scores has been disappointing so far.
This game will most likely determine the UEFA Cup participant from the group as Liverpool and PSV already qualified for the next stage. Bordeaux only wanted a point from Istanbul when these teams met earlier and got what they wanted thanks to a goalless draw. It will be a different story in France as the French side would like to go on in UEFA Cup. Geretz will prefer 2 defensive midfielders and a similar system to what he had against Antalyaspor. However, I doubt the players would perform as bad as they were doing against Antalyaspor in the league game.
It will be a hard fought battle and under blinks at first glance. However, if any of these teams scores, the other will try hard to come back so it is better to skip the pre-game betting and do it live.

tomas is one of best deffender and Arda is one of best player,Ferhat and Orhan also typical first 11 players from Gs they are important.But for this game i must say something that bordeaux is not bad as before.Now they gave me sign that they are on up-trend.And nobody trust coach of GS he is under pressure.This game seems under thats true but there are 2 handicaps.GS doesnt know how to play for draw.And when they attack and their breath is only enough for first half.so GS will receive goal for sure because Bordeaux will force like crazyly because they need it anyway for both team there is only one target and its UEFA and bordeaux is much more nearly for it.match between PSV-Galatasaray GS tried attack on first half they lost their breath and suddenly with little panickly mistakes they lost thomas by red card and everything was easier for farfan-kone and againts liverpool they made deffence and we saw suddenly score has been 3-0 so for sure they dont know how to deffence or attack.Player who will replace thomas will not be enough because Thomas-SOng compination was really important for Gs and for now i'm totally sure that bordeaux will find goal or goals easly againts GS.If we check matches in Turkcell super leauge we will see that only Gs is making goal with deffencly mistakes.In ANtalya it was own goal and many examples like this.So bordeaux know how to deffence.

Arda is not out... other than Tomas missings are not important.. Galatasaray has always been a different team in european games, for away win; everthing over @3,00 is a value for me...

Arda Turan is not missing the game and he is in the starting line up.

Tomas will be replaced by Tolga Seyhan and he is lacking match practice. This is the only handicap for Galatasaray in the line up. Orhan Ak will be replaced by Cihan Haspolatli. Orhan is the regular left wing back but Cihan has enough experience and potential to replace him as well as possible.
Two defensive midfielders + Hasan Sas - Ilic - Arda just behind Umit Karan as the single striker - this worked in Anfield Road but after 3-0... If Galatasaray scores the first goal (if there will ever be goals in this game), they will win this game rather easily. However, if they concede the goal, game is over for Cim-Bom. It will be a hard game for Bordeaux and I think Galatasaray will not be beaten. However, odds for AH and U/O lines are set really well so I will skip any pre-bets.

I read the whole post and he doesnt seem to say anything biased zeki, he just pointed out something great actually: Galatasaray can not manage to play for a draw. Read it once more and you will understand what he tries to say ;) It is true that Galatasaray were extremely bad against Liverpool, nobody trusts the coach, Galatasaray are really bad in Turkish Super League lately and yes, Tomas will be an important player if you consider who is replacing him - Tolga with no game practice at all. I understand your concern but I do not think he is biased with this post.

I said he has enough potential and experience to replace Orhan Ak mate and I saw the last match. Galatasaray was generally very bad and I do not think Cihan would suffer there as he did this a few times before as well.

???who is selling fan things you or me?You must be objective here mate.People is coming here to take comments and advices.On Newcastle-fenerbahçe match i had a comment and gave clear under because i was in trust both deffence.GS has bad deffence and bad offence how can they take point from this game i dont understand.Anyway Bordeaux is with moral after 2-0 victory againts P.S.G. away and GS is going in to important match period and they have really important match this week with sivasspor who has uptrend and next week with fenerbahce.Fenerbahce had also simular concantration problem and maybe they will still have.But really to be objective i'm not giving any chance to Galatasaray for 2 year they couldnt take anything what they need yes they been champion bun in simular situation like this againts .Bordeaux,they lost againts poor tromso with almost same squad.

Look this defense line of GS;
RB - Sabri / He is RW and not so bad RB
CD - Song / He is good when he plays Tomas
CD - Tolga / I remembered 1 or 2 match which he was playing..
LB - Cihan / He is DMC.. but all past coach used him as RB. and He'll play on LB tonight..
The defence of GS seems so poor.. and midfield about ball controling is not good as Bordeaux,too..
Inamoto is like a ghost.. GS'll play with 2 DMC and this meaning; GS wont have good attack power,too...
I dont see any positive things in this match about GS but U.Karan's scoring abilities, Arda and Hasan Sas's dribbles and sometimes Mondragon's saves..

Double DM is not good idea for GS because of the lack of the creativity of GS midfield how ever it may work for stopping bordeaux in first half. So, 2X has still value for me...

hard to predict what's gonna happen for this match, both team played a bad football at champion , only got 1 point in last 4 matchs. good in their league but not in european competition. last time at galatasaray home end up with 1-0, now i don't think the result will be to much different, i think i'll take galtasaray +1/2 , pretty nice odds. but only dor small stake ;)
third place will put them in uefa cup, coz seem galata already have a good position in their league this season, so i think galtasaray will be more motivate in domestic competition.
Galatasaray has enough strength , determination and "miracles in its history" to leave the pitch with at least 1 point.
Galatasaray Double Chance is tonight's only choice

3-Team is not pressing because team doesnt have superriors as Emre,Tugay,Okan

maybe you right its not so clear but they cant score to PSV and Liverpool thats normal and they took 1 point from istanbul with 0-0(at this match Bourdeaux not came to istanbul for a win they came for a 0-0 and they took it now they wanna win and they will give this from this **** defence ;) )

which planet are you from??? altough i'm a GS fan and i can clearly see Tomas is nothing but pathetic this year! He got the red card only because he has not enough physicall power to stop Farfan! He WAS one of the best! but now he just a regular one! Replace for him will do the same like him! For the GS speculations; It's true we are not the same like were in 2000 but GS is wel known to do the impossible things! We're not talking about wining the CL title or getting the UEFA cup! i decided to lose some money today, so what better than betting on champions league matches :D
i ll go on bordeaux on this one.
i see two key figures in this match. Erik Gerets- the gala coach, who i remember from his training days in germany where he never showed any special training skills & and i rate him a bad coach.
the other figure is Jo Micoud an exccelent playmaker with the right french touch. i noticed him coming back to bordo`s starting eleven(after being injured) and he can surely produce some chances for his team tonight.
