With FC Bayern München certain to finish in first or second place in Group B and FC Spartak Moskva certain to finish third or fourth, their meeting in the Luzhniki stadium will go a long way to determining how far apart the two sides will be at the end of the UEFA Champions League group stage. In the other game in the section, FC Internazionale Milano and Sporting Clube de Portugal will be hoping to advance their claims for a qualifying place alongside the German champions.
Still hopeful
• Spartak's ambition will be to win this game and raise their hopes of a third-place finish which carries entry into the UEFA Cup. They would also relish the chance to exact revenge for a 4-0 defeat at the Fußball Arena München on Matchday 1. All Bayern's goals came in the second half with Claudio Pizarro beginning the rout and Roque Santa Cruz, Bastian Schweinsteiger and substitute Hasan Salihamidži***263; adding their names to the scoresheet.
• This is the fourth season the teams have met in European competition - and all their meetings have come in the UEFA Champions League. Their first contest came in the 1994/95 group stage when honours were shared, the games ending 1-1 in the Luzhniki stadium and 2-2 in the Olympiastadion.
• In the 2000/01 second group stage, and again the following season in the first group stage, Bayern came out on top in each of the four games, first winning 3-0 in Moscow and 1-0 at home. The following year, as defending champions, Bayern won 3-1 in Moscow (with Salihamidži***263; among the scorers) and 5-1 at home. They often find goals easy to come by in Russia, the two wins against Spartak being preceded by a 5-0 triumph at FC Lokomotiv Moskva in the 1995/96 UEFA Cup first round.
Proud run
• Including those Bayern meetings, Spartak have faced German opposition on 13 occasions at home. The sequence started in the 1975/76 UEFA Cup second round with a 2-0 defeat of 1. FC Koln and they remained unbeaten in the first eleven games, winning six, drawing three and then winning the next two. Bayern brought the proud run to an end with those two recent victories.
• For this game Spartak will be determined not to concede an early goal because in each of their last two fixtures, both against Inter, a quickfire strike undermined their hopes. Three weeks ago Julio Cruz's goal on 59 seconds proved the decisive moment in the Luzhniki Stadium and on Matchday 3 the same player struck almost as quickly before helping himself to a second goal in the ninth-minute.
• In their other home game in the section the Russian runners-up had drawn 1-1 with Sporting with Denis Boyarintsev scoring their goal. Bayern's two previous away games have brought them a 2-0 win at Inter, with goals from Claudio Pizarro and Lukas Podolski, and a 1-0 victory in Lisbon thanks to a 19th-minute goal from Schweinsteiger who was later sent off.
Fine defence
• Felix Magath's team are one of three sides (Olympique Lyonnais and PFC CSKA Moskva are the others) looking to break new ground in the competition by going through the group stage without conceding a goal.
Spartak have both keepers injured. Wojciech Kowalewski is long-term injury and young Khmich got injury during last game vs. Rostov (4-3). So Alexey "validol" Zuev will be in the net. He is one of the worst keepers I've seen.
Spartak lost the championship this weekend and also they have little chances for the third place -almost 0
With 10 points Bayern is allready qualified but they need a victory to secure the first place as they'll play Inter at home in the last game.
I saw Spartak against Inter and i must say that Inter was lucky to win all 3 points as the rusians had a lot of chances to score.
I dont know how could will be in Moskow but in this period of the year is dificult for west-europeans teams to win there.
Maybe a draw will be good for both teams.
On Wednesday it concerns the group victory perfect already prematurely for Bavaria to make with a victory in the early evening in Moscow.
Who follows the FC Bavaria?
The FC Bavaria was certain already to torlosen 0:0 against Sporting Lisbon as an eighth final participant. With a victory with Spartak Moscow can already bring the Magath eleven the group victory under roof and subject. Not also with it Philipp will be lame, which remains in Munich and new forces to collect is. First candidate on the position of the link defender is Bastian pig riser. Possibly Magath will do also without Lucio: The Brazilian feared, the artificial turf in Moscow can affect its on 21 October stretched volumes in the jump joint negatively. The play is usually already whistled for the start as in Moscow at
Conclusion training in Moscow failed
Coming to a hold start for the FC Bavaria in Moscow: After the arrival in the Russian capital conclusion training had to be void on Tuesday, because the bus with the equipment had been stuck in the back-up. Those waited one hour in vain Bavaria.
Bavaria took it with humor: After inspection of the artificial turf in the Luschicki stadium, where on Wednesday Bavaria against Spartak Moscow want to make the group victory perfect, Felix Magath said: "the green is actually like that as in Munich. However the stems are somewhat longer, to that extent we it gladly would see, if the lawn would be gamiest still until tomorrow evening." The exercise unit is to be retrieved now in the Wednesday morning at 11.00 o'clock.
The artificial turf in Moscow had ensured in the apron for annoyance with Bavaria: "it is an insolence from a federation that it permits such a lining", had coach Magath in Munich still raved. "it is not justified that a crew, which constantly plays on it can have so an extraordinary advantage." Spartak delivers its heimspiele for over one year on artificial turf, for Bavaria is already it on Wednesday the premiere with an obligation play. However the Bavaria bayern-Coach wants not to let the floor mat go through as excuse for its players:
With close traffic in Moscow by the way also Spartak had made unpleasant experiences weeks ago and had traveled to its championsleague play with the underground.
Van Bommel: Ask no alibi!
On the artificial turf on the own training area the professionals of the FC Bavaria rehearsed on Sunday, on this Monday and on Tuesday in Moscow them again on the unusual Gelaeuf will move, around itself as fast as possible changing over from the natural to the artificial green.
The original idea, in Salzburg in the stadium of the partner talk bulletin to practice, one rejected. There is an absolutely same place as in Moscow only in Duisburg, but only largely as a tennis field.
This different one underground "an advantage" is of course for Spartak, says Marks van Bommel, "however that must we not than alibi take". The dutchman demands: "we must win the play and become group first." This placement favourable for the round of the last sixteen is secured with victory. Will be missing Philipp lame, which is to collect new forces. Bastian pig riser is first candidate for the job of the link defender. Also Lucio asked coach Felix Magath on Sunday for a shift of its comeback, driving on the artificial turf affected itself negatively out its since 21 October stretched volumes in the jump joint.
Problem of direction: Magath searches still
On the football field Mark van Bommel does not know friends. If it goes to the thing, participates it gladly in the middle in it and full. Defensively as offensively it knows all tricks. Outside of the place the centre zone fighter made of Holland is obvious a people friend. How otherwise would it have angestimmt a praise song on the play Mach he apprentice Bastian pig riser?
Its effort, work will and readiness for transverse field intakes were enough already. "it can", summarized van Bommel over the colleagues, "to become very important", in this role behind the points.
But not yet in this form, as Uli Hoeness marked essentially correctly. The manager wanted to pass no fundamental judgement anyway upon pig risers in this position. Zurzeit is complete the candidate "at the end", its Physis must be thus first strengthened. And then, Hoeness marks soberly, "white I not, how he plays, if he is again good times".
The creative range in the front centre zone remains the problem zone, if coach Felix Magath forms the Viererachse before the defense to the lozenge. He did four times it in 13 federal league plays 2006/07, pig riser convinced with two attempts not, exactly the same to little Roque Santa Cruz or Ali Karimi. The too slow technician went down with the collective failure against Hanover (0:1) also, against whom VfB Stuttgart painted boss Magath the Iranian from the cadre because of the long journey to the international match against South Korea (2:0-Sieg).
In its place Sebastian Deisler participated for the first time since the 4.Maerz again, for handstopped 19 seconds and two ball contacts. Deisler combines all qualities on itself. When it will be completely fit for service, it is not able to predict however. With all joy over its mini comeback Deisler euphoria does not goennt itself.
Since also Julio DOS Santos not when Spielgestalter is seen, this man in the current staff is missing.
Oh, nevertheless Mehmet Scholl (36) would be five or - still better - ten years younger!
With their personnel plannings and the 30 million expenditure-praised now and more euro the investors from Munich will have to think also about a creative strength in the centre zone, it are a recovered pig riser solve this problem. Karimi does not become it, its Bavaria time runs off the season end. Santa Cruz (contract until 2009) continues to play on probation, which used Hasan Salihamidzic (contract runs out) against Stuttgart emsig. Scholl stops. Thus the Bavaria responsible persons must improve qualitatively and quantitatively.
The interest in Luca tonuses (29/ Florenz), reported in Italy, disclaims Rummenigge, but the Italian Nationalstuermer - it means from there - would not be averse.
loooooooooooooooool
Schweinsteiger = pig riser
for me both to score best option or over byern like to let in easy goals when they are not fully concetrated like it is in bundesliga somehow they play way better in cl
Spartak have both keepers injured. Wojciech Kowalewski is long-term injury and young Khmich got injury during last game vs. Rostov (4-3). So Alexey "validol" Zuev will be in the net. He is one of the worst keepers I've seen.
loooool, that will crash my over
Why is everybody so sure that Bayern will play well?
They play in cold Moscow and are already qualified for next phase. On the other hand Bayern is not in good shape. They recent lost to Hannover in Bundesliga. Last week they won the clash with Stuttgart but they were very lucky. Spartak still has a chance to finish third instead of Sporting. They will do anything to beat Bayern.
Motivation is on the hand of Spartak.
My bet: 1X (6/10)
Ok, Bayern is not in great shape, but on the other hand, Spartak is a joke in this cl edition. Kowalewski missing is a blow imo, especially if you say that Alexey Zuev will be in the net. He is one of the worst keepers I've seen.
Moskau - Bayern 2 AHC-1 @3,77 Pinnacle 6/10
Some people may think I am crazy to take Bayern AHC-1! But for me this is a great odd and can't be missed! There are some facts who speak against that pick, like the pit, motivation and lineup. But still Bayern much better team than Moskau and with a win they will finish the group on 1st position for sure! Bayern was struggeling for a while but in the last two games they showed their skills and if they play like that today they will beat this HC!
H2H
Bayern - Moskau 4:0
Bayern - Moskau 5:1
Moskau - Bayern 1:3
Moskau - Bayern 0:3
Bayern - Moskau 1:0
good luck
i bet all my money on bayern... i hope the team will win.
Very interesting match-up. Bayern secured their place in 1/16 final of CL with very good chances taking leading position in this group. Nothing left to play? Not really, but they surely won't be fully concertaited in this game. They are not standing very well in Bundesliga with Saturday's tough away game vs. HSV.
Spartak on the other side knows that this could be their last chance to catch a UEFA Cup ticket. Russian league finished, so they are fully into this one. With win tonight they still have solid chances (better if Sporting lose in Milan, which is expected in one hand). Still, those Kuzbass' informations about problems with goalkeepers could be serious for them. Bayern players surely won't feel nice on Russian coldness and that's the fact which gives one plus to Russian team.
Odds on Spartak (up to 4.00) are looking very nice, but I decided to bet on over here, because of Spartak's willingness and imperative to win this match to keep chances for UEFA Cup competition. This situation with goalies could be just even better for my pick, so...
- Pick: over 2 (1.88 @ 188Bet) 6/10
P.S. vselohi - which translator have you used for your posts. Really need to find a good one, that's why I ask :D

i don't see why in the world B.Munchen have to win here.
1 - They have already qualified for the next round
2 - It is hard to win in the russian cold
So i can only see 1X - 1.64
Best of Luck !!!! ;)
Bayern have cleansheet in CL and they want to keep it (record) +
Bayern want to be first in group +
Quite apart from the UEFA win bonus amounting to €600,000, Rummenigge named another reason for his side to seek victory in the snow-bedecked Russian capital: "We could earn vital points for Germany's UEFA ranking." In the light of European results so far this season, the Bundesliga's third Champions League starting place looks increasingly in danger.
PS. the wather seems to be fine in Moscow
GL to all
yes, i agree that muchen doesn't need point or anything, but how do u know decision that their made inside the club? maybe they wanna won this match for inspire their player or for their suporter, or they just play slow game and maybesuddenly they score, then they win this match, who can know? muchen was a strong team with a lot of potensial player, for me this match can't be home win, the most worst result is draw .
so people who take muchen at -1/4 , i think that is a good value ;)
go muchen!! maybe the result will be 0-1,1-1, or 1-2
zizou2006 wrote They play in cold Moscow .... and few others dudes the same thing ..
come on people they are profesionalists and in munchen sometimes is cold too
and remember yesterday play of Porto
weather no matters in this case
anyway both teans to score best option i can
imagine results 1-1 2-1 1-2

Today I read in our local newspaper Bayern had no training yesterday - because of a traffic jam. I just remind you Spartak plays on artificial grass...
Wary Reds work out on artificial surface (http://www.fcbayern.t-com.de/en/news/news/2006/09895.php?fcb_sid=d0ce475304a0f08042cc9bafceb8924a )

I believe it will be a hard game and for me the best pick here is HT X @2.1. Bayern is a better team but the lack of motivation, playing on artificial grass and playing in Moscow will be a big boost for Spartak. I expect 0:0 at HT.
Hi! I think over 2.5 goals in this match is a very good bet. Spartak is playing with the third keeper Zuev and their defence generally suck. Bayern will play without pressure and probably without big concentration and some of their key defenders -- Lam and Lucio -- are out. And the price -- 2.56 on betfair -- is also very good. Great value in my view!!!
Good luck.
The weather in Moscow is at the moment 2 degrees plus, so it wont be freezing in the evening. Anyway the weather wont make any impact, because Bayern are used to play in chilly weather in Bundesliga during November.
i have to agree with the over pick here.
The Gks will have a lot of problems with the ball going faster with a different from usual rebound (especially the German one).
Bayern is always a threat and with a 3rd choice gk of the Russians it should be an over.
Odds 2.30 are good enough and i'll take it 7/10 ;)
