Germany,Basketball
Braunschweig(+6.5) v ALBA Berlin(-6.5) 2 @1.80(Bet&Win)
It's not so easy to beat any handicap in away match,no matter who is the opponent.Surely, this is not the safest bet on Friday, but he looks a very interesting.ALBA is going up and down very often this season as well as last season, but somehow they always take what they want on the end.And there is the only one explanation for that.ALBA has mentality of the winner.Quite sipmly, they are doing the right things in the right time. And that's the reason why is ALBA the most successful basketball team in Germany.ALBA had a very bad period a few weeks ago,but their form looks much, much better now. After some problems with injuries, everybody expected ALBA's fall.Especialy against Olympiacos in Athen. But they made a lot of problems to Oly in that match and have showed that this team is still the best in Germany.ALBA has 3 consecutive wins now(vs.Ludwigsburg 98:70,vs.Frankfurt 85:74,vs.Wurzburg 88:69).It was enaugh for them to catch the 2nd place, with w9-l4,only 1 win behind TB Bonn!IMO,they can and probably will continue their excelent streak after clash against Braunschweig.ALBA has some players like Stanojevic,Garris or Petrovic(he is in the best period of his career),who are capable to push the whole team.Braunschweig played, exactly against ALBA,in the playoff semies last season(had 2:1 lead and have lost 2:3).They made a big problems to ALBA then.OK,Braunschweig made a very respectable results in the previous season, but I didn't see a some talented side in them. All results came thanks to the teamwork and excelent form. They haven't these elements this year and the situation doesn't looks so good for them at the moment.Braunschweig has 3(2 in BBL) consecutive defeats(vs.Wurzburg 72:83,vs.Le Mans 64:86,vs.Oldenburg 86:97) and 7 defeats in the last 10 matches. They are much more closer to the bottom now and thats not the only problem. The hosts have an offensive problems as well, while ALBA hasn't that kind of problems.Their home record(w2-l4) is the same as ALBA's on road(w2-l4).It could be a very close match, but the chances that ALBA beat the handicap(-6.5) are bigger.Especialy if we add the fact that Braunschweig didn't play any match in the last 2 weeks, while ALBA had three(won all),allready mentioned, matches in that period.Of course, the host can be pushed by their fans and maybe can make a surprise here, but personaly I don't believe in that option.ALBA is capable to score around 86-89pts in the current situation(quality, form, bigger confidence,no pressure,...).On the other hand,Braunschewig will have to give more than 100% if they want to be a winners!Looking at facts,it's hard to expect that they can score more than 78-80pts,especialy after longer break and with the current form.
NSL: Parramatta (3rd) v Newcastle Utd (7th) - 1/1 @ 2.10 (Centrebet)
Pick LOST. Amazingly, it ended 4-0 to Parramatta but 0-0 at HT 8O
Well...HNY to everyone, hope I can kickstart 2004 with a nice pick in the Australian soccer league. Parramatta is a strong home team (4-1-1) with a very good goal average of 18-3. Newcastle Utd's away record is bad (1-3-2) with goal average of 7-10. It's even worse than it looks, considering that they have played poor teams during this period. Parramatta lost their first home game two weeks ago (1-2) to Adelaide Utd (4th) eventhough they were the dominant side. This team creates alot of chances and with every one of their home wins coinciding with a lead at HT, I expect them to follow that trend here and get back to winning ways at home against Newcastle Utd.
IIHF World U20 Championship: Finland-Russia 1@2,70 (Bet@Win).
Finland won 4-3 :)
Its a ice hockey U20 championship quarterfinal between Finland and Russia. Russia is favourite but they have not showed anything special and Finland plays in home. With odds 2,70 it is worth to try.
Freiburg Wolfe v Krefeld Pinguine Over 5.5 Odds 1.65 Gamebookers. WON/lak
My first pick for this competition come from German Ice-Hockey. This is a game between 2 teams which which are eliminated from the race for a playoff place. The home side is the worst of the league and in this last games will play for fun and for their fans. The previous game between these team ended with a lot of goals( 4-3 si 5-4) .In their last home game Freiburg crashed Eisbären Berlin with 10-5 . The home side have the weakest defence in the league allowing 159 goals so far. I expect a very open game with a lot of scoring oportunities and a lot of goals. Good luck to all.
From day 1/1, heres the right place for it.
OZ NBL 02 Jan 04 09:30
BRI Bullets v NZ Breakers -11.5/+11.5 take Bullets @1.90 (Gamebookers) Still WON/Lak
Bullets are 2nd in ladder , Breakers 2nd too, but from bottom. Just for info. Their last meeting in NZ ended 96:137 for Bullets, Breakers now visiting Brisbane Convention Centre. They are newbies, joined NBL this season 2003/04.
Very important player for Bullets Kevin Freeman is back after injury and proved no signs of it with 30 points and 10 rebounds in last game vs. CRN Taipans (Bullets won 113:106) so i have no doubt for low scoring game. AH -11.5 points should be no problem here, i expecting about 18 - 25 points gap.
Bullets are also on 4 won games streak, Breakers on other side had 3 last games lost.[/quote]
 unfortunately i left it too late so only 30 min to count down so i will choose another one but here it goes:
South Africa v West Indies 3rd Test 1.50 3.00 10.00
i haven't dig down yet -that is the other problem...
4 match series now 2-0 to SA but windies coach insist drawing at the end...
even injured players will play.
between this two not much difference>

Jokerit - TPS Away win @ 2,60 (Expekt) (Pick won, 4-5 FT)
Match between 2 top teams which both are in a great form at the moment. Jokerit are in a 6 games unbeaten streak but they are coming back from a disappointing trip to Spengler Cup(1 win & 3 losses). So they didn't had too much rest during the Christmas break and they are also missing many players today. From regulars defenceman Sami Lepistö & center Valtteri Filppula are with U20 team and Mikko Ruutu and Todd Warriner(key) are sidelined with injuries.
TPS have made a good start to 2nd halfd of the season. 2-2 against in from Blues at away and 4-3 win over Ilves in the last round. They are also in a hot streak(11 games unbeaten). Maybe TPS have had much worse playing at away from home but I think they are in a better shape than the hosts who are still unbeaten at home rink this season. TPS cannot count on Joni Lius(key), Mikko Kankaanperä ja Marko Kauppinen(key) and Mikko Koivu(key) as they are out with injuries.
Teams have met 3 times this season and Jokerit have won 2 of them with a great 5-0 win in Turku last time. I'm sure TPS wants to get a revenge today and these matches have always been sort of a classics in SM-Liiga.
I think Jokerit are very tired from playing too much lately and odds for away win are great @ 2,60 IMO...
Fin. SM-Liiga
Ässät - SaiPa 1 @ 1.95 Expekt WON (FT5:4/Lakini)
Ässat home 17 7 2 8
Saipa away 17 2 2 13
Only one point is seperating them in a table, but Saipa is very bad away team and is playing bad.
Ässat is playing good in last raunds, and they are playing home.
It is very important match for both teams, but I think that Ässat can score many goals and win this game.
good luck to all from the start
my first potd shall be from nba and a risky picky
1.45 LA Lakers v SEA Supersonics 2.80 @ gamebookers
Supersonics to win
LA Lakers 21-7 (Road: 6-5)
Seattle 15-14 (Home: 7-8)
the stats show that the two teams are almost equal on terms of home-away clashes.
last two game seattle beat houston and then memphis away. these two teams are top quality teams. so it is fair to say that seattle getting back on the track with third place on pacific. Lakers lost 2 of their 5 games on at home on away. one of the teams lost was houston and the other one was golden state. karl malone is out for injury and also shaq has some porblems. probably he will play but it is not for sure. if he does not play i believe seattle wins easily

My 1st pick in January POTD comp.
Will take slow start and turn my face again on NBA games:
NBA Bucks vs Mavs Take: Mavs 1.72 @Expekt

Augsburg Panther v Kassel Huskies 1 1.65@gamebookers
LOST (FT 5:5 Lakini)
Augsburg is the 2nd best home team in Germany, have won 3 of their last 4 games, and H2H is on their side too.
They've won last 4 games against today's opponent, 2 of them this season.
Augsburg also lost their last home game, so 2 in a roll would be too much.
After a month break I will join competition again :)
For the first bet I decided to take Czech Republic - Slovakia Under 4.5 with 2.0 at Unibet. LOST
It's the quarter-final game of 'U20' World Championship and without any doubt it's key match for both sides on this tournament. I doubt that (even favoured) Czech team will be able to put Slovaks under somehow great pressure so small mistakes or power-plays can decide that match. Safe defence will be tactics of both teams and so we cann't expect many goals. In addition Czech team don't have good results against Slovaks recently (in all categories, last year on WC lost 0-2) so psychical advantage could be on Slovak side. Both teams have good goalies, Slovak Halak have two clean sheets in a row now. Low scoring game very probably, perhaps a solid chance for draw too.
Results in group stage:
Slovakia - Russia 2-2
Slovakia - USA 0-5
Slovakia - Austria 6-0
Slovakia - Sweden 1-0
Czech Republic - Ukraine 8-0
Czech Republic - Finland 2-3
Czech Republic - Switzerland 2-1
Czech Republic - Canada 2-5
OK, new year, new month and new POTD. Since the prize is juicy (I mean this software), I think I should fight very hard for top spot. So my pick for today is:
MILWAUKEE BUCKS (+2) - DALLAS MAVERICKS
Take Dallas @ 1.98 in Pinnacle
Dallas are 4-10 away, while Bucks are 10-4. But there is huge diference in quality between those teams. We all know what squad Dallas have (Nowitzki, Walker, Finley, Jamison, Nash) and to compare them with Bucks (Thomas, Redd, Mason, Smith, Kukoc) it looks like Bucks gonna be slaughtered.
Mavs are 3:0 since Finley is back. They won with Kings (without Peja), Grizzlies and Bucks at home. They are much better now and should easily beat 2 points handicap.

Here Linz favoritte again..

Portland Trail Blazers - Denver Nuggets Away win @ 3.00 Expekt.
96-106 / PICK WON
A risky one but I see good value in it at 3.00 for the nuggets.
These two teams kinda have the same statistics but if you look at away games, blazers is 1-11 and nuggets is just 6-9.
More stats:
Trail Blazers: overall 15-15, home 14-4, away 1-11, last games 5-5.
Nuggets: overall 19-13, home 14-2, away 6-9, last games 5-5.
Also Nuggets overall statistics % is looking slightly better, I feel this will be a very good close match and I hope the Nuggets come out as the winner tonight, gl.
World U20 Championship:
Sweden (-8.5) - Ukraine (+8.5) 1 @ 1.80 (CENTREBET)

This is my first pick in this competition:
Iserlohn Roosters - Nürnberg Ice Tigers 2 @ 2.05 / Globet
1-3 / PICK WON
League positions:
4th Nürnberg Ice Tigers 33 21 0 12 117 87 30 60
11th Iserlohn Roosters 34 13 0 21 91 104 -13 40
Last few meetings between these 2 teams
2003-11-16 Nrnberg Ice Tigers - Iserlohn Roosters 7 - 2
2003-09-28 Iserlohn Roosters - Nürnberg Ice Tigers 2 - 5
2003-02-14 Iserlohn Roosters - Nürnberg Ice Tigers 2 - 3
2002-12-13 Nürnberg Ice Tigers - Iserlohn Roosters 1 - 0
2002-10-18 Iserlohn Roosters - Nürnberg Ice Tigers 2 - 3
2002-09-13 Nürnberg Ice Tigers - Iserlohn Roosters 3 - 2
Ice Tigers are in a good form now. They won in Koln and Kassel recently. They are far better team than Roosters - just look at last head-to-head results. Odds are good in that matchup and I think this pick is worth risk.
Away win and easy money
Happy New Year...
Milwaukee - Dallas over 202 pts @ 1.93 Pinnacle Sports
Last meeting ==> Dallas - Milwaukke 101-92 = 193 pts.
But Dallas win easy and don't play very good at the second period because the succes is quiet. Notwinski scorred 20 pts. That's not very good for him.
Dallas scorred often over 100 pts and i think that Milwaukke at home scorred better than 92 pts.
Over 202 pts @ 1.93 is a good odds for me.
Well i didn't get a good pick today i thought about esbjerg match but i found it very risky so i will stay today.
good luck everyone!!!
My choice :BOSTON-INDIANA-OVER 182,5 In UNIBET 1.85
Well... Boston play very well lately, and Indiana also... Their average is around 185 pts. as my calculations says... So i will take it.
PICK WON, RESULT :103-90...
So my first bet in this new competition, and as always it's NBA time :D
I'm a little bit late today, as my main pick, that is Dallas win, was already taken as ML and with handicap, so let's try this:
Boston Celtics - Indiana Pacers 2 Odd: 1,90 at Centrebet
And reasoning:

Good Luck to All
Let's give Us some good picks and more money in these new Year !!
Peace.
First I wish a very successful New Year to all of you !
My pick of the day :Utah Jazz vs Memphis Grizzlies Grizzlies to win @1.5 at Gamebbokers
The Grizzlies have a run of seven defeats in a row behind their back , and it' s time for them to win at once . They have a solid team with a home record of nine wins and five losses , with Paul Gasol as hitman scoring an average of 17.7 points , and collecting 8.4 rebounds per game . Meanwhile the Mormons are fifth in the Midwest section with a record of four successes and eleven defeats on road , coming from a 106 : 97 victory over the 76ers on their home court . They are today without center Handlogten who is out for the rest of the season with a torn achilles tendon . I expect , that Jazz will continue with their unconvincing away performances and the Grizzlies run of seven defeats in a row will come to an end .

COTTON BOWL - Dallas, TX
Oklahoma State +2.5 -110
Mississippi -2.5 -110
College football. The bookies here is with Mississippi side and as it seems the reason for that is that Mississippi played all past matches well even the ones that lost them. Also, the reason is Eli Manning their best player that is a big danger for Oklahoma today. But, I will go with the other side and the reason is that :
Overall here stats says that two teams are equal w/l 9/3 for Mississippi and w/l 9/3 for Oklahoma St. Mississippi has Manning but Oklahoma has Bell,Woods, Fields , and the three when play together do not loose easily.
Between two equal teams I go with Oklahoma because I believe that even not so stable as Mississippi they have stronger team when is their day.
The odds for -2.5 for Oklahoma is @ 2.40 at spotingbet. That is my pick.
Go Oklahoma.
Lausanne - Genève Servette under 5 @1.90 at Interwetten
Pick Lost 2 - 4 FT
Hi to all...is my first prediction on this competition.
Servette have a nice defence..they dont take many goals...and tonight is a derby. Lausanne are poor on attack, so i dont see many goals tonight..maybe 3 or 4.
Oct 4, 2003 Servette - Lausanne 2 - 2
Dec 6, 2003 Servette - Lausanne 1 - 3

Tampa Bay - Columbus HOME win 1.70 with Expekt bet
To put my reasons for picking Tampa Bay off the puck, figure of speech, they score a whole lot more than Columbus scores, but they concede about same amount Tampa scores, and are better on Penalty killing.
This is also first match away for a team like Columbus who's just dismissed their coach, or he fired himself, as reported on NHL site.
Tampa has also been scoreless in 24 given opportunities recently, so it's time they make their strong team count, if they rested well on New year break.
My first pick this month is from NHL:
Anaheim Might Ducks - Buffalo Sabres --- under 4.5 goals at 2.07(Pinnacle)
Simply look at these stats:
Under is 7-1-2 in Anaheim's last 10 overall.
Under is 5-1 in the last six meetings.
Under is 4-1 in Buffalo's last five overall.
Anaheim ranks 25th in the NHL in offense with 2.08 goals/gm.
Plus, I have watched Buffalo on the regular basis and except for their last game outbreak, they just can't score, period. I am expecting this to be a very tight and low scoring game.
Final Prediction: Buffalo - Anaheim 2-1
It´s time Minnesota going down. Edmonton is better on the road.
Ofcourse Edmonton is gonna be higher in the table than Minnesota when the play-off starts.
I will say 1-3 in this game and unibet is giving me 3.05 on EDMONTONWIN.
DEG METRO STARS v ADLER MANNHEIM UNDER 5.5 @ 1.75 @ Centrebet
WON (FT 4:1 Lak.)
METRO STARS on 9th place , with 52 points now , they won 18 games and lose 15. But they have some score problems , beacouse they score only 88 , it's one of the worst results in the leage.
MANNHEIM on 3d place with 61 points , and they try to go to the top of the table. For that , they need to win today , i think that they can do it , but it will be hard game for both teams , in my option.
Statistic :
2003-11-16 Adler Mannheim Dusseldorfer EG 1 : 2 DEL 2003
2003-09-28 Dusseldorfer EG Adler Mannheim 1 : 3 DEL 2003
2003-01-26 Dusseldorfer EG Adler Mannheim 2 : 0 DEL 2003
2002-12-22 Adler Mannheim Dusseldorfer EG 4 : 2 DEL 2002
2002-10-27 Dusseldorfer EG Adler Mannheim 3 : 2 DEL 2002
2002-09-19 Adler Mannheim Dusseldorfer EG 3 : 1 DEL 2002
2002-03-03 Adler Mannheim Dusseldorfer EG 1 : 2 DEL 2002
How you can see , it was only one OVER 5.5 game in last 7 games. I hope , that today will be "like always" , and this teams will play on Under 5.5
my first bet in this competition will be:
POR Trailblazers - DEN Nuggets UNDER 195 @1.91 gamebookers
it's a match between two teams which are in a little 'offensive' crisis at the moment (blazers for example scored only 74 vs cavaliers and nuggets only 74 vs raptors)... Blazers is one of the lowest scoring teams from West... they score only 90.4 pg... on the other hand - Nuggets one of the most offensive teams in NBA, which scores and allows many points, but as I wrote before they are in a 'little' crisis so I think that they won't score 100 pts as well as blazers wont...
sorry for a 'little bit stupid' analyse but it's hard to write analysis about under/over, especially in NBA...
my pick for today is:
LA Lakers v SEA Supersonics -5/+5  1  1.91 @ Gamebookers
as dickcat has pointed out earlier these two teams have balanced stats as for home / road wins. they also have exactly the same record for last 10 games: 6-4. but... bookies still favour LAL with -5 and I'll go with them. main reason is Gary Payton! it's his first match against his former team. I believe that his motivation will drive the Lakers to a win. yes, they are (probably) without Malone and yes, Sonics have great record against them, and yes, Lakers are not consistent lately. So I don't recommend this pick to you folks but I'm still taking it. we'll see tomorrow morning :)
Ero!
Greetings to all:)
My first pick in this month's competition is:::>
NBA
NY Knicks(-7,5) - Chicago Bulls................1(1.93@PinnacleSports).
My analysis:>
http://www.nbapunter.com/teamspil/default.asp?sk=Overview&us=seteamspil&teamspilID=485
Good luck to all!:)
Hello again!
Well yesterday really wasn't my day! I found so many reasons to place my bet (over 5,5) and then I lost cause there is only 1 goal scored in a hockey game! Well I said in my preview that u never know in NHL¨what will happen! Anyway today is a new day and I hope I'll have more luck with my pick:
Cleveland (+9,5) - NJ Nets 1 1,91 Gamebookers
I have a couple of reasons for my bet. First of all I don't think this will be a high scoring game so the difference is hardly gonna be higher than 10 points.
Second of all I like LeBron James (I loved MJ Air) and he is really showing that all the dust around him wasn't raised for nothing! He's average in December was 23,3 points (15 games), so he can score and if he gets a bit of help from his teammates I'm sure they can fight a close game against the Nets.
Acctually my main reason is that tough Cavs have lost 22 games of 32, 16 of these matches have been by 10 points or fewer! So they are obviously never really outplayed or they always fight till dying seconds!
I think that coach Paul Silas is really holding this very young team together so that these Cavs fight to the finish for their coach!
On the other side NJ are 7-3 in their last 10 games after a slow start and they beat GS in their last game 88-70. They are 9-7 at home so we can't really say that home court is a BIG advantage. But they play great defense for the past 13 games, allowing just 85,6 points a game.
So as I said I think this will not be a one sided contest so the Cavs won't loose by a big margin, if they loose in the first place... :)
Good luck to you all!
Good luck to all in 2004!
My first pick in January Comp:
*Washington Wizards v Golden State Warriors Home win @1.87 (GB)
Well, I have a feeling I am going against the wind here, but I think I have some points in doing so.
Firstly, Wizards got their big signing back Gilbert Arenas, avg 19,6-5,3-4,6 played against Atlanta, after he missed 15 games due to injury. Wash had one of the worst ever Decembers in that time, winning only two games the whole month. And guess, Arenas signed for Wizards from Warriors. Ex players always give 110%!
Now, they should get a boost!
And on the other side, there is a team in free fall, Golden State lost three in a row, won only 2 of last 7 (both in Frisco)...
I will go 7/10 on home win here!
Evening
Pick 1 [Nhl] Points Total
Chicago v San Jose: UNDER 5.5 @ 1.67 [Ladbrokes] Pick:WON [3]
San Jose Sharks are on a 6 match unbeaten run.A lot of the credit for this goes down to a very good defence with Goal Keeper Nabokov in blinding form with two shut outs.
Chicago Blackhawks are nothing special in attack, and its hard to see their top scorer Calder causing too many problems on current form. But defence wise, they are pretty hard to break down, with 4 of their last five matches finishing under tonights spread.
So for me a defensive match looks on the cards tonight [1.30am],which warrants the play for the under.
GaryB :D
right then my my 2nd pick of 15:
after my weirdo cricket pick i own you another ambitious one

The Hyundai Hopman Cup is the third arm of the ITF International Team Events consisting of the Davis Cup for men, the Fed Cup for women and the Hopman Cup for men and women.
Hyundai Hopman Cup XVI, to be held from January 3 –10, 2004, is the Official Mixed Teams Competition of the ITF. Prizemoney for the tournament is $1 million dollars with the winners sharing $240,000.
As you can see this is competition is realy aiming for a bit of quality and sure a good venue to climb up raking list.
Savolt Attila come back from an injury /since June/. I belive that his experience and his +8 years routine advantage will weight a lot when such an easy chance to get out result here. 174 to 202 as ranking say or 94 to 202 as best position yet...
2-1 set winning is quite logical. I do not think that much difference here that to lead 2-0 winning, plus as much stat i find he 9/10 games 2-1 either way...

Utah Jazz(+5.5) - Memphis Grizzlies
taking UTAH , 1.91 @ Gamebookers ( Lost, 100-88 )
Utah is currectly stands in the 7th place at the west conference with 17 wins and 14 loses. In their last game, Utah won the 76ers 106-97, a win which increase Utah's home wins strike to 3 in a row. Memphis are coming to this game after seven loses in a row - the latest one was a 105-99 lose to Seattle. The Grizzlies are placed in the 11th position at the west conference with 15 wins and 17 loses. Utah are in better shape and with the 5.5 points advantage I believe that they'll take this match.
This is for tomorrow mornings Giant Slalom.
Benjamin Raich to beat Davide Simoncelli @1.90 Centrebet

  I am angry that my last pick was disallowed just because someone forgot to put Nordicbet in the list. There is no reason, why Nordicbet is not allowed, there is much more crap in the list, think about your rules guys.
This is awful!
+120!!!!!!!!!!
Buffalo Sabres - Anaheim Mighty Ducks 1 /bet won (5-2)
Unibet at odds 2,40 on Buffalo to win
Why?
Because H2H stats between these teams is in big favour to Buffalo (last 4 meetings):
2003-10-25 04:30:00 Anaheim Mighty Ducks 2 5 Buffalo Sabres
2002-12-05 01:00:00 Buffalo Sabres 4 0 Anaheim Mighty Ducks
2002-01-17 04:30:00 Anaheim Mighty Ducks 1 3 Buffalo Sabres
2001-01-13 04:30:00 Anaheim Mighty Ducks 0 4 Buffalo Sabres
Buffalo is still "on fire" after last day's win over Washington with the nice score 7-1.
By the way Anaheim really sucks away with only 5 wins in 20 matches.

Milwaukee - Dallas over 202 pts @ 1.93 Pinnacle Sports WON
Last meeting ==> Dallas - Milwaukke 101-92 = 193 pts.
