Club Brugge KV will look to put a previous encounter and a poor record on English soil behind them as they travel to Tottenham Hotspur FC for their UEFA Cup Group B game.

• Tottenham won their opening Group B game 2-0 against Be***351;ikta***351; JK in Istanbul.

• Club Brugge, meanwhile, came from behind to earn a 1-1 draw at home against Bayer 04 Leverkusen.

• The two clubs have met twice in European competition, playing a two-legged second round tie in the 1984/85 UEFA Cup.

• The Belgian side won the first leg 2-1, with Jan Ceulemans and Birger Jensen putting the home side ahead before Clive Allen hit a late goal for the London side.

• Spurs won 3-0 in the second leg, with Allen scoring again in between goals from Michael Hazard and Graham Roberts. Peter Shreeves's side went on to reach the quarter-finals, losing out to eventual winners Real Madrid CF.

• Club Brugge defender Michaλl Klukowski and his Spurs counterpart Paul Stalteri are well acquainted, as both are Canadian internationals.

• Club Brugge's Jonathan Blondel spent a year and a half at Tottenham while team-mates Philippe Clement and Boško Balaban know English football from their spells at Coventry City FC and Aston Villa FC respectively.

• UEFA Cup Winners' Cup winners in 1962/93 and UEFA Cup winners in 1971/72 and 1983/84, Tottenham's 106 games in European competition (63 wins, 19 draws, 24 defeats) have seen them meet Belgian opposition on four occasions.

• Two of those games were against Club Brugge, but the first two were much more fateful as they overcame RSC Anderlecht in the two-legged 1983/84 UEFA Cup final.

• Paul Miller's goal was cancelled out by Morten Olsen's effort in the first leg in Brussels, but the second leg also ended in a 1-1 draw as Graham Roberts' late strike leveled Alexandre Czerniatynski's effort.

• The match ended with a penalty shootout, with Tony Roberts saving Arnor Gudjohnsen's effort to win the day for Tottenham.

• Of Club Brugge's 204 games in UEFA competition (95 wins, 36 draws and 73 defeats), 15 have been against English opposition – six wins, two draws and seven defeats.

• English sides have twice denied the club in finals, with Liverpool FC beating them 4-3 on aggregate in the 1975/76 UEFA Cup final and then emerging as 1-0 winners in the 1977/78 European Champion Clubs' Cup final at Wembley.

• Club Brugge have never won on English soil. In eight trips, the best result they have had was a 0-0 draw at Nottingham Forest FC in the 1984/85 UEFA Cup.

• FC Dinamo Bucuresti take on Be***351;ikta***351; in Matchday 2's other Group B game.

Tottenham boss Martin Jol may rest some of his first-team players, with his side facing Chelsea at the weekend.

Paul Stalteri (knee), Teemu Tainio (hernia/foot), Lee Young-Pyo (ankle) and Steed Malbranque (groin) are definitely out.

Calum Davenport has travelled to Germany to see a specialist and may need an operation on his groin.

Ivory Coast midfielder Didier Zokora has recovered from a mild case of malaria and is in the squad.

News conference: Tottenham boss Martin Jol

No info on Bruges. I do fancy Spurs to win. Bruges' away form has been very average, I think Spurs will be way too strong for them.

What do you think? I am thinking of a double - Spurs and Blackburn, but am waiting to see the starting 11 of both teams.

Fantastic results for out bet. I thought it was doomed at half time as neither Spurs or Blackburn were doing too well. I had £10 on the double. I am simply trying to place £10 bets aiming to double money - I mean if I bet 100 times on a coin toss I would hope to break even, but betting on evens on football bets (or approx. evens), I hope to win more than 50% of bets as I can bet on any games and can use my own football knowledge and people's knowledge and views on here to help me gain an advantage. So far I have had 4 bets, won 2, lost 2, but am £6 up. Nothing special, but its just a trial for now. If it succeeds I will up the stakes.
