Empoli v Palermo - Draw

Both sides unbeaten but Palermo have one eye on the UEFA cup this week. Should be resting Bresciano and no suspended Simplicio will have a big impact on the side.

Amauri and Di Michele to lead the attack but Empoli will play 4-1-4-1 therefore will be hard to break down. Again without Bresciano and Simplicio this will be hard.

Palermo leaking goals but scoring alot, with players missing, the uefa cup and empoli a defensive formation, i think 1-1.

Empoli (probable): Balli; Lucchini, Pratali, Marzoratti, Raggi; Moro, Almiron, Busce’, Vannucchi; Matteini, Saudati

Palermo (probable): Agliardi; Zaccardo, Capuano, Barzagli, Biava; Corini, Guana, Diana; Brienza; Di Michele, Amauri

Parma v Roma - away win AH-1

Parma without Couto, Bucci and star striker Muslimovic wont have much to offer in this game. Roma will really be going for this game after the defeat to Inter. Parma will also miss Paci who is now suspended to faking an injury when Toni didnt connect with an elbow.

Unfortunately without Mancini (injured) but have class players elsewhere. On paper they are about 5 times better than the Parma team and there is no reson why they cant do that on the pitch. I fancy Roma to win by a couple therefore my bet is AH-1

Last season Roma won 3-0 and 4-1, Roma now have a stronger team and Parma have a much weaker team.

Parma (probable): De Lucia; Coly, Cardone, Contini, Castellini; Ciaramitaro, Grella, Gasbarroni, Morfeo, Pisanu; Budan

Roma (probable): Doni; Panucci, Chivu, Mexes, Tonetto; De Rossi, Pizarro, Cassetti, Perrotta, Aquilani; Totti

Am I missing soemthing with messina's price, Catanias keeper and defence were hideous in midweek and there are goals in there for messina. Messina in the other hand have conceded one goal in three games and are unbeaten, I think they represent great away value against a catania team who had a good opening dawy win but haven't hit the heights since.

is there anyone else who thinks Firenze might accomplish a hit and run against Udinese or am i just a poor soul overwhelmed by uncontrollable greed , opinions appreciated ....

I think udinese as they showed perfectly in midweek are highly jekyll and hyde and expect to be so for the whole season. think there is a good chance fiorentina could hit them with an away win, I personally wouldn't bet on it, but if your a fan then I would agree there is big hope for the away shock.

its a big derby match, i though catania did well for themselves against palermo. Ok they conceeded 5 but they scored 3 against one of the best home teams in the league. Previous to that they have 2 clean sheets so probably just a freak game. Catania also beat another strong home side in Cagliari so i think the prices are right and would probably favour Catania more than Messina.

Catania have had the harder opening fixtures over Messina so my pick would def be Catania on this. Messina will play defensive with 4-4-1-1 so i wouldnt expect much in this probably unders to

Livorno vs AC Milan

Already above zero points, Milan will look to extend their impressive winning streak as they travel to the never easy Armando Picchi. The Amaranto will be ready however, with Cristiano Lucarelli likely to be back in the starting line-up.

The home side have only picked up a point so far this term, but this game is far from a foregone conclusion. Livorno showed their fighting spirit against Cagliari in midweek and it looks like a completely different 11 may face the northern giants.

David Balleri and Alessandro Grandoni could seemingly start at right and left-back respectively. Coach Daniele Arrigoni will want to put a stop to those defensive leaks his side have been having trouble with so far this season.

The Livorno boss has not been afraid to change the line-up from week to week, depending on the situation and the team he is faced with and Sunday’s game should be no exception. In an attempt to stifle Milan’s midfield and particularly their two creative outlets, Andrea Pirlo and Kaka, the home side will possibly look to a five-man midfield which could see Antonio Filippini start in place of Stefano Argilli and Luca Vigiani play off Lucarelli.

Carlo Ancelotti’s side just cannot stop winning at the moment, his controversial squad rotation – or turnover, as it is known in Italy – has been successful but by all accounts he does not want to push his luck on this away trip.

Milan took a long time to break down Ascoli in the last game and the Coach will know they were fortunate not to drop their first points of the season. The outfit likely to take the field on Saturday may be a much more conventional starting XI than the one’s seen in recent weeks.

Alessandro Nesta could return alongside Kakha Kaladze in central defence, while Ricardo Oliveira should partner Filippo Inzaghi upfront as Alberto Gilardino is still having trouble with his head injury. Marcos Cafu could also be left out and Daniele Bonera come in at right-back, with Wednesday’s match winner Marek Jankulovski moving out to the left.

Man on fire: Kaka (Milan) – Absolutely scintillating and back to his awesome best. He’s doing it all – dribbling, shooting and beating defenders, giving a footballing master class at the moment.

Last season: Livorno 0-3 Milan

Form guide: Livorno (L D L - -) Milan (W W W - -)

Livorno (probable): Amelia; Grandoni, Rezaei, Galante; Balleri, Morrone, Passoni, Filippini, Pfertzel; Vigiani, Lucarelli

Milan (probable): Dida; Bonera, Nesta, Kalaze, Jankulovski; Gattuso, Pirlo, Seedorf; Kakà; Oliveira, Inzaghi

Catania-Messina

Catania will host Messina in the second Sicilian derby of the season, and after losing the first one 5:3 to Palermo on Wednesday. The start of the season was a fairly good one for the club, who is widely expected to be fighting to avoid relegation until the very end of the season, as four points have been won so far, with the only win coming from a tough away fixture at Cagliari. Coach Marino, known for the respect he has for hard defending and disciplined teams, could use a 4-3-3 formation in this match, and give Spinesi his first start of the season in attack.

Messina have started the season way better than even the most optimistic fans have expected, as they are still undefeated, with seven points earned from three games. It was a nice refreshment for the fans, who had to listen rumours about the club getting relegated for match fixing during the entire summer. They will be looking to maintain their good form, and lose the tag of a poor away team, and Bruno Giordano’s man will have to look more confident at the back than they did last season in order to achieve this. Defender Parisi returns after serving a suspension, but midfielder De Vezze is out.

This is a match of two bottom teams, a sixpointer and a derby. Thus, it is very hard to pick a winner, although Messina’s poor away form should make Catania slight favourites here. Draw very probable.

Livorno-Milan

Livorno have started the Serie A with some mixed performances, easily losing 2:0 to Roma, winning against local rivals Fiorentina 1:0, and snatching a point from a tough away fixture at Cagliari. What their results don’t show is the shakiness their defence has been showing so far, so coach Arrigoni will probably use a 4-5-1 formation, leaving in form striker Danilevicius on the bench once again. The first one of Livorno’s recent Serie A clashes vs. Milan was a debut of former Milan star Donadoni on Livorno’s bench, and they’ve managed to overcome the Rosso-neri and win that match 1:0, but were soundly beaten – 3:0. They will be looking to improve on that result, although they might have an eye on their trip to Austria, where they’ll try to defend a 2:0 advantage over Superfund Pasching.

Although they haven’t shone in any of the matches they’ve played so far, Milan have done enough to win in every of them, and are currently the only Serie A team with a 100%. However, this is not enough to bring them the leading position in the league, due to the point handicap they’ve started the season with. Summer signing Oliveira, who scored on his debut against Lazio, is expected to start up front alongside Inzaghi, as Gilardino is out due to an injury. However, coach Ancelotti was doing all sorts of squad rotating in the last couple of weeks, so surprises are more than possible.

With their confidence high and in need for points in order to catch Inter as soon as possible, Milan have to be regarded favourites here. However, be careful here- odds around 1.60 are not very tempting – stay away from this match.

Inter-Chievo

After two consecutive disappointing results (0:1 against Sporting and 1:1 against Sampdoria), Inter’s army of critics got a perfect opportunity to claim that the Nerazzuri still lack team chemistry. Moreover, coach Mancini got a warning from the board that he had the next three matches to save his job. Mancini and his players have responded in the best possible way, and Inter have earned an away win vs. title rivals Roma. However, Mancini’s job is still not safe, and the board will be keeping a close eye on the performance the team will show against Chievo, and in the upcoming CL match vs. Bayern. Defensive midfielder Viera is suspended for this match, while Adriano will probably start in attack instead of Ibrahimovic, who became a father earlier this week.

Chievo could not have wished for a tougher fixture after the disappointing start of the season they’ve made, as they have only a point after three played Serie A rounds, have wasted their unique chance to enter CL after getting knocked out by Levski Sofia, and are on the verge of getting knocked out of the UEFA Cup after a 2:0 away defeat to Braga. The reason of the poor current form could be in the poor displays of influental midfielder Brighi, who has struggled to find the right form after fracturing his cheekbone a month ago. Chievo are known for being able to put on very disciplined defensive displays and are capable of making very dangerous counter attacks, so it’s no surprise they’ve caused Inter some big troubles in recent past.

Inter are, of course, big favourites, but one should not forget that they are under big pressure, while Chievo is one of the sides that is perfectly suited to playing against the favourites.[/b]

Cagliari have decent chance to beat Siena and I am temted to take 4.50 at betfair this round

I fully agree on this one.
Catania is a tough newcommer from Sicilly (sooru for the wrong spelling  ) and will count mostly on their home games to stay in Seria A. Messina is quite the same situation but they are a much more defensive team, playing for the draw in every match, i don't like them at all and i believe that an inspired Catania could easilly get the win here.
Of course the under looks like a 65% possibility but not more because i expect an early goal for the home team and then everything could be possible.
HW IMO 5/10

You kiddin me? Cagliari looks so impotent so far. They are typical home team and now they can't even win at home, so how the hell you think they can win an away match then? :P

Inter (-1.5) 6/10 @1.97 in Pinnacle

Before trip to Roma, Mancini has been given ultimatum that either he wins three next games or his adventure with Inter is over. 33% of this plan is done.
Missing Vieira (suspension) is an advantage for Inter. He got red card in two gaes this season already, proving his lack of ablity to contain agression. However, as Cambiasso is missing as well (injury), Inter might find themselves with hole in midfield. Real question is - how will Dacourt play as defensive midfield. He dd quite well in Roma, so I have high hopes for good performance as well. Inter looks really strong. Their probable line-up is Julio Cesar - Zanetti, Cordoba, Samuel, Grosso - Gonzalez, Dacourt, Stankovic, Figo - Adriano, Crespo.

For the third time in a row, I will go against Chievo. Why? Didnt they show you why? Although Luciano is back from suspension and Tiribocchi is fit again, Chievo lost key midfielder D'Anna, which might be crucial at Giuseppe Meazza. In addition, against Lazio, they were again extremely poor, making just two (!) shots on goal in whole game.

Yes, Chievo was said to be perfect counterattacking team, but I see this game very similar to Aston Villa - Charlton yesterday. Except that Nerrazurri are much stronger than Villa and Chievo is at the moment on Serie B level.

UDINESE - FIORENTINA

I see a good reason to bet on OVER 2,5 goals in this game.
With strikers like Di Natale - Iaquinta and Toni - Mutu, we can expect high scoring line.

So,

OVER 2,5 GOALS - 8/10

Correct score: 2-2 4/10
